I'll admit I am a difficult diner, gluten and dairy free and don't eat beef or pork. Menu did not have any chicken or veggie choices that weren't covered in breadcrumbs and the first person I was talking to wasn't at all helpful However. I was then offered a great vegetarian solution by another staff member and that was delicious and the service improved greatly. Would also like to comment on the atmosphere. Mostly good except for said first staff member was also hell bent on throwing every empty bottle in to the bottle bin with force that seemed excessive and was startling.

I like this pub, and have visited from time time over 35 years. The staff are very good. The room we ate in was a tad tired with many lights not working or didn't even have a bulb in and I found after two hours the chairs were uncomfortable, must be my age! I had a roast beef dinner as I saw they used 'Cayford' butchers for their meat, so good quality. The cauliflower cheese/carrots/broccoli were all great. But I was disappointed, with the beef, no texture, no flavour and the gravy was as bad, I couldn't make gravy like that, it looked like packet stuff and something gloopy added. Peas and roast potatoes were another disappointment, as was the ice cream. It had crunchy ice crystals and tasted gritty. Sorry I have had better.

We stumbled across this pub on a journey, and what a great place. Greeted with a warm welcome from friendly staff, Gluten free roast was to die for, as was the Perry. A most enjoyable visit, we'll certainly be making the journey to the white heart again

Staying close by so fancied giving the place a try, went there on a Sunday evening and decided to have the Sunday roast dinner. Lovely welcome by the young lad behind the bar, it was his last day before going to Uni, there gain, the pubs loss. Firstly if you are looking for a gastro pub this will not be for you, if you are looking for a family inspired village pub with character that serves great food get on down here! I mentioned a week earlier that i had a problem with cauliflower and when i asked what veg there was he remembered me from our earlier conversation but they brought out a separate bowl out with cauli for my wife, great service. the roast beef was lovely as were the roasties, homemade gravy and stacks of veg, were had apple cobbler and ice cream Sundae for dessert, great food, great service in a great little pub, proper family pubs are still out there, give them a try.

Last minute decision to go out for dinner and decided on The White Hart - It did not disappoint! There was a little wait for the food but it was definitely worth waiting for. We ordered Steak & Kidney pie, Pulled Pork Pie, the house burger, potato skins and nachos. All of the food was really well cooked and delicious with generous portions. It was busy(ish) with one person working behind the bar and bringing out the food, she was very welcoming) We are looking forward to returning to try out the Sunday roasts.

5 of us ate here ranging from 10 to 60yrs old, we all had something different and everything was so tasty, cooked to perfection and presented with care. Our waiter was so friendly, helpful and made us feel like we really were very welcome guests. I would highly recommend this pub to anyone! The deserts were also really lovely and the coffee came in a massive jug so there was plenty for everyone .

Lovely village pub serving great food, beer & cider. We were looked after very well and enjoyed our starters, good selection and tasty. Didn't have the pie myself but gather that as others have commented they are very good. I enjoyed the curry and my wife enjoyed the chilli con carne. Good portions and tasty. All in all good food at reasonable prices, especially compared to similar places. We enjoyed our visit, did wonder since there have been some negative reviews, and hope to return before too long.

Popped in as in area around 4pm. I phoned ahead and lady was polite and inviting on the phone. My husband and son had pies and chips and I had beef roast. No pictures as it was absolutely devoured in moments. My need was cooked beautifully, with lovely seasonal veg, great roasties, huge Yorkshire pudding and lashings of lovely gravy. The pies were ‘proper’ pies not just a lid! I’ll be honest the front of the pub wasn’t overly pretty (it is spring and so wouldn’t expect it to be covered in blooms) and I didn’t know what to expect when very quiet inside, but I was wonderfully surprised. The people in the pub were welcoming and friendly and the food was wonderful. The music was also great! Wish we had a pub like this where I lived! If we are in the area again would definitely come back and would recommend to friends and family.

Friendly and efficient service. They were happy to accommodate our party of 16 with pre-ordered lunches. The food was hearty, pub fare with generously sized portions, well presented and averagely priced. Veggie and vegan options were limited. However the teas and coffees are outrageously overpriced at £5 for tea and £6 for coffee!! Go there for a filling pub lunch, but skip the hot drinks.

Nice pub with friendly barmaid. Food very average and expensive. I think my curry was out of a jar. Not sure why reviews are so good. Warning ⚠️ The most expensive coffee in Somerset. £18 for 3 and a half cups . We ,me and 2 friends ,our monthly lunch outing, Ordered coffee at the bar, asking for cappuccino, bar lady ,said "did not do any like that ," so we said , just 3 coffee's to start with, while we looked at the menu, she brought out a carafe, ooh we said ," how lovely, not knowing it was going to be sooo expensive and cost us £6 each, for 1 Cup each, more expensive than the Rosie wine. So be warned , also if ordering the BLT baguette ask to cook the baguette first as it was very anaemic, one of those cheap twin baguette from supermarket. On a positive note, the service was excellent. Good selection on the menu. Presentation of our lunch was lovely.

Today was not the first time we visited the White Hart. Every time we eat there the food is terrific. But today, I have eaten the most beautiful Sunday roast ever cooked on planet Earth. It was vegetarian, but my partner had a classic meaty one that he enjoyed very much. Every single item on my plate was full of flavours; the cauliflower was beautiful and cheesy, red cabbage exceptional, the veggie wellington tasted of wild mushrooms and the gravy... I could drink from a glass. Everything was perfectly cooked. I wasn't even hungry, but this meal made me so! I can't wait to come back again! I'm attaching a couple of pictures, it looks a bit messy after I started my munch, but when originally served, it looked super appetising. The pub itself is very homey and cosy and full of lovely people.

The staff were accomodating and friendly and there is a good ambience in the pub. The menu, however, is a trifle limited especially if you're not a massive fan of meat. We were told, though, that the menu was about to be reviewed. Not really helpful to us last evening, however. Compared to a pub in mid Devon, where we had eaten on two consecutive nights earlier in the week, there was not much choice, plus The White Hart was quite a bit more expensive. Having been welcomed and having received courteous table service, I am inclined to give four stars. We are near the point of desperation in our efforts to find local, affordable places to eat where the menus include a range of non meat dishes, rather than just a vegetarian burger in a bun with chips and not even an attempt at a side salad. Will we go back? Let's see what the "new" menu offers.

Fantastic pub! After a long day at Longleat Safari, we had worked up an appetite and The White Hart was on our route back to our hotel. We would highly recommend the homemade pies made by Sam! I had turkey, cranberry and stuffing and it honestly tasted like Christmas in a pie! My partner had Steak and ale which he described as delicious! Local cider served in the pub. We had Lilley's fire dancers. Let's just say 6 pints went down very smoothly with our 3 course meal. Visited today (06/11.24 ) for the first time in over 30 years and found the service to be friendly and efficient. Good menu and although quite busy the food arrived in good time and well cooked. Land chops and Lamb steaks on the menu which is rarity these days. The Lamb steak was a good size compared to supermarket lamb steaks . Good range of drinks at prices that were more affordable than some other pubs in the area. As a group of 4 wee count fault it . Opening times a tad restrictive and not opened any bank holidays. Best book.
