My family and I were in the area for a friend's wedding and we needed somewhere for Sunday Lunch before we all departed. It had good reviews on TripAdvisor so we called ahead and booked a table. I'd say this is recommended especially on Sundays as it was busy so there is a chance if you were a walk in you may have to wait. The pub itself is in a nice location on the riverbank. There is a small car park, but there is on street parking in the village. There is a great outdoor seating area, just a bit chilly for this time of year. There is also a small play area for children which is great. The staff are very friendly and they had plenty which meant you never waited very long for food, drinks, orders etc. This is rare these days so keep this up! The pub inside is traditional modern in style. Great as a restaurant style pub. They provide their full menu on a Sunday + a carvery. Between us all we had items from the menu, a couple of carveries and a children's menu item. All the food was great. Big portions, tasty, well presented. Prices were what you would expect for a pub lunch, between the £15-20 per person. For the size of the portion this was good value. Overall this is a great find and was a nice end to a good weekend for us. It's a shame I don't have somewhere like this more local to me or I would be visiting again!

Good service ,polite friendly excellent choice of food well cooked and presented. Not the cheapest place around but you certainly get what rou pay for. Like the fact that many of the dishes come with three types of fresh vegetables and there's is plenty of i. The mash is excellent especially with the added spring onion ( you get a choice with the mash. Had the home made shepherds pie today excellent . Will return again soon.

More style and price, than substance. Lovely setting, beautiful rambling walled garden with posh servers. But the restaurant food can be really bad! Bean dip (but called something much more lyrical, which I forget) was tasteless/ bland. Even I can just liquidise a tin of beans, and burn a carrot, but I season them properly and do expect much more for the prices. Much is made of local suppliers, and the meat dishes always seem to get better comments from my friends. The veggie food and deserts are expensive and not tasty, original or quality. If you are happy paying highly for meaty food, in a unique setting, then feel free. But I would avoid veggie and vegan (and probably the deserts).

Popped into the Anchor on an impromptu visit to the area on a bank holiday. We hadn’t booked but there was space for us even though they were very busy. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and attentive without smothering. I had the pan fried duck from the specials board and my husband had the Sirloin steak, both of which were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. For afters the sticky toffee cheesecake was a delight! The Anchor had a lovely atmosphere as a pub that families of all ages were enjoying and the toilets were very clean too! We would definitely recommend this pub and will definitely come back when we are in the area again.

Had a family Sunday lunch, there were 7 in our group including 2 kids. First time we had eaten here, it is under new management. A superb Sunday lunch, best roast beef I have had on a lunch, it was melt in the mouth. We all enjoyed our lunch including the kids . Lovely friendly pub and will definitely return and use the stunning garden when the weather is better. Highly recommend
