Cartmel Village Shop in South Lakeland

Really quaint little village shop that's a bit like Mar Poppins handbag. Don't know how they can cram soooooo much stuff into such a little shop Really fairly priced and alot more on offer than just the expected famous 'sticky toffee pudding' which is to die for and us served hot to take away

I love sticky toffee pudding and have eaten a lot of it in my life. I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt that in my opinion Cartmel sticky toffee pudding is the best in the world. It is beautifully moist and sticky but not cloying, just the right hint of firmness on the outside without being dry, wonderful texture and a divine flavour with a hint of toasted caramel. All served with a scoop of lovely vanilla ice cream. You want to close your eyes and savour every mouthful. Try some, you will not regret it.

Our annual visit here to buy goods for Christmas hampers. As always, we were not disappointed. This little shop offers a multitude of unusual and exciting products, including their famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding. Not to be missed.

This shop is a cornucopia of delights. Have been whenever in the area. As well as the obligatory sticky toffee pudding, there are sticky chocolate and sticky ginger to name but a few. I couldn’t resist the cannoli and macarons which were delicious. They even have a tea towel. You could spend hours in here as there are wonders at every turn.

What a lovely place! Had to stop off to get some puddings from the heart of where they are from. A gorgeous little village and so nice to be able to support them direct instead of buying from a big chain like we usually do.

Great shop with fantastic goodies, lots are local. The Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding is SO delicious. We got gifts for friends who were pleased with the STP! Just GO!

Visited here to try the Sticky Toffee Pudding, never tried it before so wanted to try it from it's source. The lady warmed it up for us and we had a scoop of ice cream with it. It did not disappoint, absolutely delicious.

Mam and I were in the village dinning and we popped in this shop beforehand. I know the Cartmel brand as when I lived in the London, I used to contact Ocado who offered the Carmel sticky toffee (STP) pudding. I’ve had a few over the years, but must confess, I assumed Carmel was just a brand and had no idea it was an actual place and a firm of food manufacturers. We entered the shop and before long we had a modest basket with some delightfully decadent treats. The aforementioned sticky toffee pud (the best you can buy-in), some stunning custard, dark chocolate covered raisins, liquorice, and some pecan and maple syrup cookies. I told the friendly lady behind the counter my thoughts on the STP and she was thrilled. What a great shop. Deep breath at the till - but quality (and the produce is quality) always costs. Treat yourself, you won’t be disappointed. Mam and I have just had the STP with custard, and mam said it was ‘gorgeous’. High praise indeed.

Really lovely shop. Full of lots of cartmel gifts. Staff all lovely and are passionate about the shop and local area. Little cafe with good coffees and can get warm sticky toffee puddings. They do good deals on cartmel puddings so definitely worth a visit. The village in general Is also lovely so it is worth having a wander around while you're here.

We came here on holiday having read about the sticky toffee pudding. It was definitely worth the visit just for that but there was also a lot of other great products in the shop. The sticky ginger pudding was also a hit.

Well worth a visit. Their famous toffee pudding is just amazing! Same as a convenient store, plus extra.

Friendly staff and delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding!!

We visited on a quest to find a family-sized version of Cartmel Sticky Figgy Pudding (most shops only have the small sized portions, and family sized sticky toffee). We found it, hooray! There were many artisan products on sale, lots of local produce and staff were helpful.

Absolutely adore this shop. We always pay a visit if we are in the area. Has a lovely tearoom upstairs too.

Fantastic Shop catering to everyone. Famous for the Sticky Toffee Pudding there’s lots more to tempt you in. They have a really wonderful selection of goodies and we’ve come home well stocked!!

This quaint old shop is lovely to visit. Our main reason was to buy some sticky toffee pudding for gifts for our family and friends. It really feels like stepping back in time seeing the inside of the shop. Friendly helpful service as usual. A must visit in a lovely old village setting.

Really great village shop selling all kinds of delicacies! Has a bakery counter. I bought quite a few things from here including a fresh caramel hazelnut slice, it was delicious! If you are visiting/passing through Cartmel Village you must visit this shop 😀

A great little shop with two of the loveliest ladies behind the counter. They were both more than happy to answer our queries about Kendal mint cake. The sticky toffee pudding is also a must. It was absolutely brilliant.

Blown away by the village at the southern tip of the Lake District. I had not idea what a pretty village it would be, from ancient fortified arch to get to the grand village square, to the Michelin restaurant and other fab eateries and river that runs through the village. Let's not forget the race course, where Irish and English equines battle for victory. 5☆ place

Literally only went to Cartmel for this shop due to a recommendation and research! Totally worth it. Perhaps not what we'd expect as a sticky toffee pudding but I loved it. Steamed cake covered in a delicious toffee sauce 🤤... They are friendly and knowledgeable.

Brilliant shop full of food goods

Is this for real! I can’t believe how amazing this sticky toffee pudding is. It is my favourite desert and this was the best one I have eaten by a mile. If you are in this area please do not miss it. We drove 45 minutes to get here and it was worth it!!!

The greatest sticky toffee pudding one could ever have the sweetness the ice cream the sauce was exceptional the only problem is from now on I can never have another sticky toffee pudding without feeling dissatisfied and disappointed but other than that I could eat this everyday for the rest of my life and I’m not even joking. I guarantee you this is the most perfect amazing sticky toffee pudding you will ever have

Came here for the famous puddings we saw the shop on coast to coast on the bbc and as we were in the area we had to come anyway we bought some puddings and had a chat with the staff which were all very lovely and so helpful if your in the area please stop in

Expensive, but takes you back in time. Felt like I walked into my grandma's house. Quality products on sale. Lovely place.

Brilliant choice of goods and really nice staff

Visited Cartmel for this shop, and it was well worth it! There is an array of goods available such as chocolates, wines, jams, biscuits and of course, puddings. Compared to what is typically available at supermarkets such as Booths, there are a lot more pudding flavors available, including ones that I’ve never seen before! I ended leaving with 3 large puddings and 3 small puddings. The classic sticky toffee pudding is always a winner, but I also greatly enjoyed the sticky banana pudding and sticky chocolate pudding. Be sure to warm up your pudding before consuming it for maximum deliciousness! Definitely a great place to purchase souvenirs as well.

What a lovely shop! Stocked up on plenty of sticky toffee pudding, some beautiful gifts for others, or yourself and very friendly staff - the boys were overjoyed to be treated to a bit of ham!

The home of the Sticky Toffee Pudding. An absolute must visit. Everyone was very helpful there is lots of lovely treats. We also had some of the homemade coleslaw and potato salad and they were very nice.

We took a trip north to Dumfries and had an unplanned stop at Cartmel. To buy the famous sticky toffee pudding. There was some unexpected delights in the shop and some offers that were not on the website so that was a bonus. 3 X 390g puddings for £12. Make a pleasant idea for a stocking filler for that person with a sweet tooth.

Ever since I found out sticky toffee pudding was invented here, I had to stop in at the village shop. The shop contains a number of different items and the pudding is unfortunately only available for take away. Since we wanted to sit down and enjoy it, we went across the street and had it at the coffee shop. I’m sold on it.

Lovely little shop full of goodies, nice to see where the original sticky toffee pudding was made all those years ago. Walked through town a couple of other lovely shops and priory. Not an awful lot there but still nice to see.

Sticky toffee pudding,amazing,full of local products as well, Worth a visit

I had a scone in the square.It was the best scone I have ever eaten in my life! The owner told us she got her scones from the Village Shop. So we went and bought a bag. The next day we ate them. Same reaction from the rest of my family! A-mazing! Cartmel is a beautiful village, with a wonderful priory, though it is worth visiting for the scones alone!

This shop is still taking active precautions to combat covid with a 'shield' between customers and counter staff. Lots of goodies and treats ,some pricey,others not so. Drinks available alcoholic and non. Plus sticky toffee pud,of course! Well it is Cartmel the home of ... lots of Lake District edibles and a chilled section for some meat and cheese etc.

We stopped here at the start of a drive through the Lakes District and were 100% glad we did - strolled through the super charming town of Cartmel, then bought four sticky toffee puddings to eat in the square just outside - 2 regular, 2 ginger, all with ice cream. The ginger sticky toffee pudding is definitely the best thing I ate during our time in the UK and might honestly be the single best dessert I've had in my life. Sweet, savory, spicy with ginger - AMAZING. No exaggeration.

Beautiful little shop we bought the famous sticky toffee pudding. And a range of little cakes, unbelievable quality wish I could buy them online craving them definitely reccomend .

A mouth watering experience to say the least. I hadn’t realised that this was the place where Sticky Toffee Pudding was first produced. Being rather keen on this great dessert I purchased four, (2 different flavours) and this evening they have been sampled. You won’t be disappointed I can assure you. Besides the puds, there was a great choice of cheeses and chocolates attractively packaged.

26/05/22: quaint little village shop, right in the heart of Cartmel. Sells the famous Sticky Toffee pudding in various flavours, plus an assortment of sauces, chutneys and jams. This lovely shop also sells sweets, chocolates and bottled liqueurs.

We called here several times whilst staying in the area. We bought quite a number of food products to take back with us to family, including of course Sticky toffee puddings and other puddings in the sticky toffee Cartmel range .Great store packed with such a choice of edibles etc

This is where Sticky Toffee Pudding was ‘born’ . It’s actually made a few miles away, but this is where to buy it from. The Village shop sells a variety of 1st class food , drink and gifts. It is well worth the visit as Cartmel has so many interesting shops, a ‘posh’ Restaurant, pubs, an Abbey and Racecourse to visit to name a few. We love a visit here and invariably leave with a smile on our faces and some Stickey toffee puddings and some beers.
