Brew Brothers in South Lakeland

Popped in Kendal while on route to the Lake District by local recommendation. As we wanted a dog friendly venue. food was amazing staff very polite and attentive. Great atmosphere. Allergy compliant as one of the party had an egg allergy and the other was gluten intolerant both had great food and the staff was very aware of allergy requirements. Water bowl supplied for our dogs as well. Very good menus for vegetarians and people with allergy’s.

This lovely, bustling little café had so many tempting options on the menu! I ordered the Paris Benedict (pictured), and it was absolutely gorgeous. I also tried the lavender hot chocolate, which was amazing - such a unique and delicious treat. The atmosphere was cozy with comfy seating, and despite how busy they were, everything arrived super quickly, which was impressive. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is that while the service was efficient, the interactions with the staff didn’t stand out in any memorable way. That said, I’d still highly recommend this spot for a great breakfast!

Well what a great place for all your foody requirements, and fantastic beverages. .They let dogs in as well which was very entertaining. The only thing was I didn’t feel as welcome as the dogs… and even though the food could not be beaten a little courtesy would have been nice.

Great place for drinks and food. Spacious inside with lots of cosy settees as well as tables and chairs, healthy and innovative menu and great service.

Absolutely splendid place to eat, friendly and helpful staff. The food is exemplary, fresh and tasty the coffee is spot on you will love their special breakfast bun. Dinner this evening.. as I just love the friendly atmosphere.

Food great but fries missing and paid for so not happy

Fabulous staff, fabulous food, dog friendly and the staff couldn’t stop cuddling my little maple and brought her water and treats. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. A perfect start to my birthday weekend - thank you! And the pancakes are delicious!!!

We came in for breakfast and went for the full english (with Cappuccino and Americano). Very big portions and super yummy. If you are in Kendal, you should definitely visit this place for breakfast, as there are many different options on the menu. 10/10.

We visited this place today for brunch. The young staff members were all very friendly and helpful, even explaining that our food would be a little longer than normal due to the person in front placing a big order (who was quite demanding and awkward). Well done to the cashier who remained calm 👏 Great value for money and tasty food. Well done!

Went here for breakfast and could not fault it. We had the Brews mini breakfast and BB mushrooms (halloumi, mushroom and avocado) which was stunning. Lovely atmosphere. Also have some very delicious looking cakes. Highly recommend.

We tried the BB mushrooms, macaroni cheese and a Biscoff blonde as well the mango bubble tea and mint tea. Everything was made fresh and we enjoyed this as a stop-off after walking to Kendal Castle.

Lovely place to have breakfast in Kendal! Excellent Full English according to my son, but I fell in love with the smashed avocado poached egg sourdough sandwich, would want it for brekkie every day! The staff were super nice, patient and efficient. Will definitely come back when in Kendal next time.

Always treated wonderfully, given excellent service and have even made friends within the establishment! Plus they let you customise the oatmeal to plant milk, that’s just sweet 😄 Good pancakes too!

Lovely coffee shop with welcoming service.

They do serve good breakfast. But the service is rather unmotivated and slow. A smile would be nice too. I also think it is strange you are asked to tip before you received any service or food. How would you know how much to give?

VEGANS! 🌱 Best breakfast in Kendal! The scrambled tofu is the best I’ve had in a cafe and everything else is so fresh and delicious too for the vegan breakfast. We come every morning when we stay here. Oat flat white also delicious. It gets busy here because it’s so good, so make sure you arrive before 9:30am to get a seat. Staff are super accommodating to menu tweaks and really friendly. No reason for us to go anywhere else 💚

The food was really good, the menu had a lot of options to choose from, and the coffee was really nice too. The cakes looked nice, but we were full after breakfast so didn't try any Staff were really nice as well!

Went in yesterday for breakfast to start the celebration for my birthday. We’ve been a few times before and it has always been excellent. I had the full English Breakfast and my wife had her favourite Eggs Royale. All washed down with a couple of cafetières of Brew Brothers blend coffee. Absolutely amazing breakfast. The staff are really friendly and take care to ask if everything was ok. Can’t wait to go back.

Excellent cafe and the ratings are well deserved. Had a quick lunch with my daughters. Service was excellent and the welcome was very good. Had 3 toasties and some Fries.... excellent choice.

Stayed in Kendal for a couple of nights and found this place for breakfast on our first morning. So good and accommodating of gluten and dairy free we returned the next day. Busy little place but friendly staff and great food.

What a find!! We had gone for coffee but decided to stay for brunch. Such a delicious treat. We had an Eggs Benedict and a GF Eggs Florentine. Absolutely delicious. Great coffee. Great ambience.

Staff on entry were surly and not welcoming today. Then on ordering the girl ordered incorrectly but accused me of telling her wrong and she continued to deny it was her fault. Tbh I was ready to just walk away. Nobody should be arguing with the customer

I came here two years in a row for delicious orange and pomegranate tea. The staff here are very welcoming. It sits on the main shopping street with nice views of historical buildings. Inside, the shabby-chic furniture and china teacups and saucers are charming.

Brunch options here are great and the food we ordered was lovely. Coffee was great. Staff are friendly. Service was a bit slow.

Went in to this cafe for breakfast but soon changed our minds dogs sat on seats licking tables and to make matters worse the staff/food handlers were stroking and letting the dogs 🐕 lick there hands with no sign off washing them, we,also observed a young waitress being licked by a dog then moments later picking up a croissant and serving it to a customer this review will be passed on to the environmental team to view, absolutely 💯 percent disgusting

On a short stay in the lake district. Visited this cafe for Breakfast as didn't fancy the hotel breakfast for the fourth day in a row. Friendly staff. Would have preferred table service but did not have to queue for too long. Nice coffee in a good sized mug. Food was very nice. in the centre of town so easy to get to.

We were travelling down south from Scotland stopped off for a snack. I had corn fritters and poached egg with the trimmings - 😋 The food that was being served around about us looked very good. Service friendly and prompt with a good vibe.

Really nice breakfast. Only place, other than Greg's or McDonald's, open this early (as far as I could see.) Not cheap, but top quality and very well prepared and presented, so in that sense good value. Friendly, efficient service.

Service and food were wonderful. It's worth the slightly higher price for the amazing quality of ingredients and superb food! Give this place a visit!

I would highly recommend this little cafe! The staff gave our four legged friend the best welcome! Food was absolutely delicious! The best leek and potato soup I’ve ever had! I’d also recommend the Avocado and Garlic Special! Will definitely be visiting again! 😁

Visiting Kendal for the day we found this cafe by accident. Lovely friendly atmosphere, staff were fab and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend going here if your in Kendal

Found this online while staying at Kendal for a break. We look for something f with veg / vegan options , parking and with a good review or two. This seemed to fit the bill so gave it a shot. Small place very busy. Looked organised. Dog friendly. Got seated at a high table , checked the menu. Lots of options inc vegan and veg. Hubby ordered vegan breakfast and black coffee. I got vegan porridge and earl grey tea. Took about 35 - 40 mins but portion sizes generous but not massive. Hot and very tasty. Good atmosphere attentive staff, not overbearing or overly fussy, did come and check if food was ok and cleared table quickly. Clean and tidy, it was a constant queue of customers and a lot of them did get turned away because there wasnt any spare seats 11.00 am.

Always eat here when we are visiting,the staff are so friendly and make you feel very welcome,its clean and the food is lovely,been at least 8 times in the past 12 months and never been disappointed

Nice place with homey made breakfasts. Kids will love the milkshakes, for adults the Chai Lattes. Benedict Egg with Cumberland Sausage was sublime.

The cafe is nice in general but when I went to order I got told abruptly that I was in the wrong place i then placed my order 2 teas one with soya milk when I paid over £6 for two teas I thought was bit pricy so looked at the menu to see how much the teas were I asked the girl who served us if she charged me wrong she replied you pay 80p extra for soya milk to which I replied “80p because I have allergies?” Apparently she found in amusing and smirked! Theirs plenty of cafes to choose from in Kendal that don’t charge extra for allergies!

Popped into this lovely little cafe in Kendal before a business meeting. Perfect lunch spot. The club sandwich was delicious.

Can’t say too much other than stopping by on a visit to the Lake District and getting my brother to jump out and grab us a couple Vanilla Lattes. Wow, just wow. One of the best I’ve ever had and a vanilla latte is my go to! Don’t actually have anything bad to say, the store looked super traditional and local, prices were good and there was a lot of care - something I’d never seen by any other coffee shop ever, stirrers that actually sealed the drinking hole to keep the heat in. Be sure to stop by for a fantastic coffee, but you’ll need to find somewhere to park.

Normally love brothers but was disappointed. Newer menu has much less choice, ordered a Brie and caramelised onion toastie which was far from caramelised onion, coleslaw tasteless, loved like no care had been taken in preparing the meal and definitely not worth the £10 paid. Service was ok.. quite a rude member of staff taking orders who clearly didn't want to be there. Such a shame.

Stopped for breakfast one cold wet morning Excellent big breakfast. Cooked to order v, well presented and got with our coffee , also excellent in taste . Pleasant friendly service in a clean environment . Highly recommend for Kendal .

The food is good and we loved the menu, lots of interesting choices, and a good service. It’s a bit eclectic and very casual but we liked that. You approach the counter once you have decided what you want and you are then asked to pay. No problem there. Our only criticism is when you pay on card you are asked on the chip and pin machine how much tip you want to add. You get various choices and to be fair one of those is ‘No Thanks’. The problem is how can you offer a tip which is supposed to be for good service when you haven’t yet been served? We felt it was rude and presumptuous to ask in the first place. If you enjoyed your meal and the service just leave a tip before you leave.

We love Brew Brothers! The atmosphere, the decor, the dog friendly policy, the food, the coffee (superb Farrer's - roasted a couple of miles away) and the service. We had to wait 20 minutes (as advised when ordering), but that meant it was fresh when it arrived! Still a Kendal must!

Favourite place for lunch in Kendal

Waiting 2 hours for this order. It came cold. The food isn’t edible. The coffees aren’t on the order as they we’re probably freezing. I want my money back

Called for breakfast while staying in Kendal .I had the BB special which was sourdough toast with a Cumberland sausage black pudding and a poached egg with hollandaise with Dijon and it was delicious .

Nice cafe with good food but the dogs they allow in are a real nuisance. This would stop me eating there in future.

bbs is a local favorite. kendalians enjoy getting fueled up for a day of traversing the near by trails in this traditional english cafe. speaking of tradition it is customary to leave your pet sheep at the door but don't worry they provide a water bowl for our furry brethren.

Just went in for a coffee and to catch up on some e-mails. Good coffee but no internet. The waitress told me 'we only have BT Intenet but it doesn't really work' what's the point?. It's almost a given these days that you can get onto the intenet in a cafe. An easy fix for better customer satisfaction.

Food was good if a little overpriced but such an unfriendly atmosphere, hence why we hadn't been here for five years, attitude from youngish guy with beard, so obnoxious and rude, other staff miserable. There is a reason this place is never busy and amongst locals it has the reputation for unpleasant staff. There are better, nicer places to eat in Kendal. Updated 11 Oct I am actually quite bemused at the defensive review the manager has posted in response. I have many positive and good experiences with various venues and services but as is human nature mostly only bother to review less than great experiences, that is allowed. The fact he put such a long response actually shows a slight lack of confidence in his venue? It is actually quite disingenuous and petty that he has took time to read my past reviews. Most of my reviews on Tripadvisor are 5 star, I don't know what point he was trying to make I mentioned one particular staff member, youngish guy with beard, who had real attitude on him, actually looked annoyed when my partner said he didn't require a menu for himself, then in an agitated manner told me to go to certain point of counter for placing my order. No big deal, we won't be eating there again anyway. I believe I praised the food, anyway? I have lived in many places in the world yet in England, Kendal in particular, people are so easily offended and judgemental. Thank god I have more in my life than this.

Very accommodating. We went with our bikes - no trouble as they stored them at the rear of the cafe. The food was delicious as was the coffee.

The food is very good here. There is a bit of a wait though because they cook it all fresh. Staff are very friendly and dogs are most definitely welcome.

Place was busy, food took a while to arrive which was understandable, but the quality was just not really up to scratch, scrambled eggs were over cooked so arrived dry on what was probably yesterdays bread, and pretty much everything in the breakfast burrito was bland and spongy. It might’ve been a one off as I’ve had some pleasant food here about a year ago, just a couple of things to improve :)

Pancakes dry and hard, needed a drink to get it down. £6.60 for 1 piece of black pudding and a tablespoon of scrambled egg on a nearly stail bun. Very disappointed to say the least. A waste of nearly £17 💰🚽
