Eggs Benedict and full English, coffee and pineapple juice. The food was ok but sadly apart from the toast and the sprinkle of herbs on the tomato. It's no better than Wetherspoon across the road and at £30 I'd go across the road.

I was lured in by the drinks menu, I ordered a banoffee biscoff latte but really didn’t get any banana so just an extremely sweet coffee. The place is warm and cosy, cute decor. We were looking for somewhere for brunch having driven over 150 miles we were both a bit peckish. Having stumbled across Farmhouse kitchen the amazing menu tempted us in. It was very busy but a table was quickly cleared for us. As previously mentioned, the menu is amazing. So many delicious dishes to choose from. We opted for the Turkish eggs, and the eggy bread, which we ordered with a coffee and a milk shake. Our drinks arrived and we waited for our food, and waited…. and waited. We tried to slow down drinking so that we still had some left when our food arrived, but it didn’t happen. It was very busy and we appreciate that the food is fresh cooked to order but it was a longer wait than our bellies would have liked. When the food did eventually arrive it was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful.

It was a busy Sunday lunchtime for Adam and his staff, but after a short wait, we were shown to our table and ordered from the excellent menu. During the ordering process, and with dietary requirements to be addressed, nothing was too much trouble for the knowledgeable and delightful staff. The food was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious; the presentation faultless. A thoroughly enjoyable first visit. We are delighted to have found you, and will be back very soon.

£14 for a bacon and brie ciabatta and a can of pop, that took 30 minutes to arrive. It was not worth the wait. Tiny supermarket roll that was gone in about 3 bites, cheap bacon and cheap chilli jam that tasted of sugary gloop, I suspect from a bottom shelf catering supplier. No apology for the wait and surly staff, a bit of a shambles sadly. Brew Brothers over the road is a much better lunchtime spot in Kendal. Nicer food and a lot more efficient. Edit: no, you didn’t advise me there would be a 30 minute wait for a sandwich. That is completely false. Had I been told this would’ve gone elsewhere, as I was in somewhat a rush between meetings. The obnoxious tone in the reply to this and plenty of other negative reviews says a lot.

Visited FHK this morning, ordered a full English breakfast, eggs Benedict, flat white and a pot of tea. Not cheap at nearly £35! Waited 40 minutes and approached staff to be met with a blank expression. Asked again and told order ‘on the way’. People were coming in, ordering, eating and leaving in the time we were sat there. No apology. Order came, all wrong, again no apology. Served a breakfast muffin instead of a full English. Benedict was missing mushrooms which id paid £2.50 extra for! Asked for a refund as now waited an hour. Was refunded the food only, would’ve thought the drinks would have been courtesy for the poor service. When out of the place I realised they’d also not refunded the mushrooms! So nearly £11 for a coffee, tea and mushrooms and an hour wait! No apology. Will not visit again.

A lovely cafe just off the main road through Kendall, found as we were wandering through. Prices are a little higher, but you should expect this in a major tourist place like the Lakes. Still not bad though. The food was absolutely superb. Well prepared, good sized portions and very tasty. I had jacket potato with tuna melt, cheese & mayo, with a side of salad & coleslaw. Rounded with a cappuccino. Delicious Definitely recommended

Came here this morning for breakfast and was seated promptly and given a menu. There were three staff at the front of the house as we waited for at least 10 minutes whilst each staff member walked past and never even asked if we wanted a drink. My gf had to get up and ask for a coffee. Extremely slow service especially when you just want a quick cup of coffee before your breakfast.. but then to wait 15 minutes and did do not even get a drink poor poor service. I even said to the chef we are going to leave now as we have not been served yet and we've been sitting for ages. He gave me a wink as if to say I don't really give two scoops.... The menu is extremely overpriced as well... I would definitely avoid this place or whoever reads this! please avoid , there's a much nicer cafe just around the corner... And guess what we got a drink of coffee in under 5 minutes...

I ordered the prawn and Marie Rose salad today. I received a bowl full of lettuce, 3 cherry tomatoes cut in half, some stale croutons and prawns with Marie Rose sauce. I expected more to the “salad”. Perhaps cucumber, red onion, radish, celery etc. Even a slice of sourdough bread would’ve been nice? What was plated in front of me was definitely not worth what I paid.

My wife and I visit FHK quite often for lunch at the weekend as the food is great with plenty of veggie options and a nice relaxed atmosphere. We have noticed the quality of service declining a bit during our last few visits: long wait times for food, inexperienced waiting staff and errors in orders. Yesterday (Saturday) it was about 3pm and the staff decided to play fast banging music at a volume that felt uncomfortable while we were trying to enjoy a relaxing late lunch. The food was as good as ever, (which saved the review from being 1 star) but due to the noise levels from the music it genuinely felt like a relief to leave. There's plenty of other good eating places in Kendal so for now we will be boycotting FHK and try again some point in the future when it has hopefully returned to its former glory.

Hot drinks came well after the food and only after prompting. Milk for coffee didn't appear until we asked again. My wife ordered veggie sausages, and confirmed this when ordering as the person misheard her initially. When they came she asked again 'are these definitely veggie sausages' the server said 'erm yes they should be' - hardly reassuring for a vegetarian... Visited for breakfast and was seated quickly with menus. Upon ordering at the till was told it would be 30 minute wait for food. Why not tell us that upon entering. We decided to stay because the place looked nice enough. A while later a couple were seated on the next table with their dog. There are no signs outside that said it was a dog friendly cafe and to me this is not a problem but what about people who are allergic or scared of dogs? Shortly after a friend of one of the staff arrived at the door carrying her dog and the staff member was petting the dog...hopefully washing her hands afterwards. Our breakfasts arrived after about 35 minutes. My partner had opted for a veggie sausage barm an d she said it was fine and I had the full English. The black pudding slice was very thin and so overcooked that a circular saw would have struggled to cut through it and the bacon had been cooked so long that you could snap it in half. The beans were in a separate pot from the rest of the breakfast and we're lukewarm and watery. Toast slices were very small. For just short of £25 with one tea and one coffee I was very disappointed. I'm not one for complaining but didn't get the chance to as no-one came over to clear the table. If they had I would have mentioned this to them. All in all very expensive for a below par breakfast

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.

Well I won't be going back ,the food was awful ...the tomato ,basil and pesto soup had a horrible sharp but sugary sweet taste...the sandwich that came with it had the cheapest bright yellow " butter "on. ,a maximum of one slice of ham and the cheapest mustard . My 4 year old grandson could have made a better sandwich ! My husband had pie which had hardly any meat in it and the gravy was unusual tasting ( to say the least ) and sweet . I've had far superior microwave meals ! The toilets which were always an asset to the pub had gone downhill too.

Superb home style food, super generous portion sizes. Nice and accomodating staff with quick service. Varied menu with all the classics. Would recommend to anyone travelling or in the area
