We had a stay local to this pub , but this is a real gem. We had Friday night meal absolutely excellent. Then again Sunday dinner ( roast ) , we will be back for sure . Food brilliant But the pub is one of the friendliest we've been to by far in a while. Support this pub it deserves it

We were staying down the road for the weekend and came in for a drink on the Saturday then Sunday lunch the following day and were SO glad we did. We arrived on the Sunday and our table was laid out with candles and high chairs ready for the kids. We had a mixture of roasts and pie and chips and everyone said how amazing their food was. The ham was so tasty and my family said the beef was too, and my brother in law couldn't stop going on about how good the chips were. Not only was the food delicious but the service was great. The young lad that works there (sorry didn't catch his name) is a credit to the place and you could tell he really cared about his job and the pub. He talked my husband through the whole menu on the Saturday and couldn't do enough for us when we had lunch on the Sunday. It was really reasonably priced too and we were so glad we booked in. It's a traditional, old style pub and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it if you're in the area, but definitely make sure you eat there!

Having driven a good few miles chanced upon the Greyhound and will be returning if passing that way. Friendly service and locals Great beer although a little dated with the interior decor and fantastic food. I went for the gamon chips egg and pens while my partner had Cumberland sausage. let's just say this Proper home made chips. As much as either of us could eat and sensibly priced too at about £14 each plus drinks

Decided to pop into the greyhound for a drink as our holiday let was nearby and we were driving past. Pub looked quite inviting and had a carpark that was handy. It was strangely quiet in the beer garden considering it was a lovely summer evening. Also pretty quiet inside with a few locals chatting amongst each other and to the barman who was telling everyone about his “new £17 an hour job” he was about to get. Presumably that was the reason the bar area was a little unclean (sticky floors and tables, dog hair and a little musty where we sat) We had our drinks and moved on. Quaint little village pub, but could go with a clean and some atmosphere

Went in for some food as nothing else around was open or serving food. Odd considering high tourist season? Anyway, usual fare, local pub for local people (think, league of gentlemen) with a few of the local wildlife scattered around the bar area. Decent beer, no ice for soft drinks (which were poured from flat plastic bottles). Actually nice food, but the place feels dirty, and algae filled pond thing in the beer garden (which the owner forbids anyone to touch and scares small children if they do?) is just naff.

Everything about this pub is fantastic. I have eaten here quite a lot and I can say that there is no bad meal. Tasty Homemade Pies, Amazing salt and pepper chicken, Best burger around, Awesome chicken burgers, Absolutely fantastic gammon. The chips are out of this world. Homemade chips which are thick and cooked to perfection. The portion sizes are really good and the price of a meal is affordable and great value. The pub has plenty of character, and all the locals are friendly. The owners Sam and Steve are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble. The bar staff are a credit to the pub. Good choice of beers and not overpriced. Outstanding pub set in a beautiful part of Cumbria.

Just been for our first Sunday roast and was not disappointed, I treated my elderly mother, to start we had soda water and cordial which where nice, cheep and cold, we both picked the roast beef, after a wait of around 25 minutes our dinner where served, I had 6 small thickish pieces of medium well roast beef on mine and mother had 2 large pieces, there was 4 different kind of potatoes, Dauphinoise, Hasselback, Roast & Mash, a big homemade Yorkshire pudding, red cabbage, French beans, cauliflower, Peas and Carrots as well as nice thick gravy and it was lovely, the beef was perfectly cooked, best Sunday lunch I have eaten in a long time, mother loved hers as well, for 2 lunches and 3 pints soda water I paid £23.80, you can't complain at that price specially in this day and age, Highly Recommended, We have been back several times now

Major improvement is the washrooms , very modern and clean now . Good draught lager and the bloke who served was friendly . We had the three different pies with chips and veg . Genuinely home made and large and excellent . The steak and the chicken pies were full of meat and the cheese pie was very cheesy indeed . It was good to go back and we will return , perhaps to stay overnight .

I don't often leave positive reviews because I'm so often left feeling underwhelmed after a hotel stay, but this place is one of the most cozy and welcoming places I have ever had the good fortune to visit. When we got to the pub we were made to feel unwelcome by the 2 members of staff, they looked dissatisfied to see a group of 10 people walk through the doors. We waited for 1 hour for the food to finally arrive which I thought was too long as the pub was fairly dead. When the food finally arrived, I took a bite out of the burger and it was like rubber the meat was chewy, cheap takeaway burger - wouldn’t even feed it to a dog. Overall a disappointing experience and a waste of my £14.

Brilliant breakfasts!! The food, service and views from this café are second to none. Their coffee is pretty good too! Brilliant location just round the corner from the bus stop so right in the middle of Ambleside!

Visited many times before and always given a tip but I will not be visiting Brew Brothers again! Whilst ordering at the counter, I found the young lady to be obnoxious and not friendly. She then asked me to select an option on the card machine regarding a tip, I selected "no thank you" I noticed a jar for staff tips and thought, if I change my mind, I can leave something in there. She then bought our coffees and cutlery to our table, we thought our coffees were going to land in our lap and she literally dropped our cutlery down on the table. I was out for lunch with a friend and we were both shocked with her behaviour. I said to my friend "I think it's because we didn't give a tip when we ordered and she agreed. We eat our lunch and drank our coffees. I then returned to the counter to pay for two cans of drink that I got from the fridge. She was so rude, everything was too much trouble, she didn't want to give me any glasses to drink from, then I asked for ice, which I have been offered before, and she seemed to have a hissy fit. Then when I went to pay she said "oh yes, you don't leave a tip" and pressed the " no thank you" option on the card machine. I have visited Brew Brothers many times before with two of my friends on separate occassions for monthly catch ups and my husband and I go in with our dogs regularly. All I hear is support your local businesses, sorry no, not if this is how you are going to be treated. There are plenty of eating places in Kendal, some as good as Brew Brothers, some better value for money. Unfortunately, they have lost a loyal customer who will take there custom to someone who appreciates customers.

We ate here on a Thursday evening, whilst staying in Grasmere. Very good food and service. The steak and chicken were excellent!

What a lovely place! Had to stop off to get some puddings from the heart of where they are from. A gorgeous little village and so nice to be able to support them direct instead of buying from a big chain like we usually do.
