Family of seven and a well behaved doggy. What a fabulous meal we all had, myself have the best Fish Pie I have ever tasted. The staff were so nice and attentive. Thank you for making it an excellent evening out. We shall return x

Nice little pub, five minutes from Broomfield hospital. Very handy. Has large carpark out the back. Dog friendly. I only had coffee and toast but it was lovely bread. Staff were very friendly and helpful, looked after my dog whilst I used the restroom too. Great place if you need to drop someone for an appointment at the hospital, as its just down the road and you can get something nice to eat and drink whilst you wait.

We really like this pub. It's a great place to visit and the staff are all so friendly. I like to support local businesses. Sadly, the food can be hit and miss. Some dishes are great (fish, fish pie, Moroccan lamb), but twice recently I have eaten meat cooked on the griddle and the whole thing tasted like a burnt griddle. I sent it back and was offered another meal, my mistake was choosing a burger; same.problem! Very disappointing and leaving a long-lasting burnt taste in my mouth. Pasta was sloppy on my wife's dish. Please get it sorted out, we want to be regular customers!!

Really enjoyed our visit here for a birthday celebration. Good choice of menu, prices reasonable abd quality of food excellent. As a group we had pasta, fish pies and burgers. Nice outside decking area too. Staff helpful and very friendly. Good portion sizes.

Plenty of choice, the best piece of fish that I have had for a long time. The ham egg and chips is also excellent.

for two visiting Kiwis this is a quintessential English pub. We have enjoyed breakfast, lunch and Sunday dinner Staff were great. Despite being super busy the staff were smiling, very efficient and friendly. The food of course was delicious. A top establishment.

Lovely dog friendly country pub. We had a warm welcome and sat down for Saturday lunch after a long walk with the dogs. The food and service were both excellent. We’ll definitely return.

We were on our way to another venue for breakfast and saw this was open and offering breakfast with outside seating in the sunshine. It was absolutely fantastic, the food was absolutely delicious, the staff were super friendly and attentive and the bill was reasonable. Will definitely be back.

Came for lunch Friday, Ham egg and chips, eggs undercooked, slimy white film over yolhs, ham fatty and undercooked, worse ham egg and chips ever, parking a problem have to park on road, real shame because they accept dogs, really clean attractive pub.

Love this pub, food, drink and service is always amazing.

First time here. I went for a cheese burger and a pint of pepsi and it came to around £21. (Cheese burger was around £17) Which is quite expensive however, the burger came with chips (the portion size of the chips was fairly small I thought) But I couldn't fault either for taste! The chips are just right, for me anyway, probably why I wish it had more with it! The burger was very very good, the meat cooked perfectly and the taste was great! Food also arrived fairly quickly too, I was with a largish group and was impressed how quickly food was served. I'd definitely come back, it's a nice place to go if there is a small group of you.

Rose an Crown pub, is a little gem that has great outside space, which once the sun is out, you can really enjoy good food. There is plenty of parking.

Excellent food as always. This is our ‘go to’ pub for lunch….. staff always attentive. Good selection of good and nice atmosphere!

While the main bar area and other seating we have previously sat in has a lovely cosy and warm feeling, today seating was horrible. We sat with view of the men coming and going and unfortunately the over powering smell of the gent toilets, we had to ask for a candle to be lite to get of the smell as we was sat in the little room we was sat in next to them very small room next to doors a breeze meant had to sit with coat on as the other people in the room had decided to turn the radiator off never fun eating a roast dinner in your coat. That being said the food was as always amazing and can not fault

Haven't been out to eat at the Rose for a long time and looking forward to my night out tonight on the 2 for 1 special, I fancied the Tai Green curry served with rice and poppadoms, sadly was the smallest portion of Curry I have seen and had to put tge rice into the dish to make it anything like a reasonable portion. It tasted OK but wad disappointed at the portion size as was looking forward to the meal, left feeling hungry. Otherwise a decent evening and obviously not the choice to make!

After hearing some wonderful stories of this pub we decided to attend with family and friends for a birthday celebration. The lady serving us was lovely and I felt very sorry for her as she had to deal with the fact we were a large party and over half the menu wasn’t available. We had the wrong food served after confirming that the dish was available, food that was extremely over cooked. Extremely fatty steak, over half the steak was fat. After working many years in the hospitality trade I can say I was extremely disappointed. Personally the chef should of approached and apologised and not left it all to the front of house staff, Especially as we were the last ones there. No offer to reduce the bill or anything complementary after a huge amount of mistakes. Not somewhere to go if your looking for larger parties.

Probably one of the best Sunday Roasts we have ever had. Lovely, cosy, quiet, comfortable and warm setting. Excellent service and topped off with a delicious dinner.

We attended as a party of 15 for an 80th birthday celebration having booked well over a month in advance and found it to be a wholly disappointing experience. We arrived to find that that half of the menu was unavailable – no chicken, no burgers and no fish as ‘we had over 80 covers in for lunch’! At no point had we been advised to order ahead to avoid this situation. After expressing that this was unacceptable and we were considering leaving as there was no option for most of our party, we were told that some burgers would be available as they could be taken out of the freezer. When said burgers did eventually arrive, they were almost inedible - they looked and tasted as if they had been put on a grill and forgotten about and another dish which was brought out was not what had been ordered. My Nan chose to celebrate her 80th birthday at this venue with her family as she had eaten there several times before and needless to say, she was very upset with how it turned out. After this we will not be returning and regular custom has been lost.

The 4 of us booked the rose and crown due to it being midway, booking was easy, the food selection was great, the quality of the food and the large menu, was unbelieveable, the staff friendly, and welcoming, we will definatly be back very soon, a great place, and good atmophere, Rose and Crown see you soon

My sons plus family treated me to a Sunday roast plus my husband, we had a side room for all of us. We had Sunday roast one had suet meat pudding one of my grandsons had chicken wings with chips. We all said what a lovely meal one of the best roast dinners for a long time. The ladies came in to make sure we had everything we wanted then a young lad helped bringing food in nothing was too much trouble, the food was lovely especially the crispy roast potatoes, desserts was delicious. Had a lovely breakfast at this friendly and cosy pub. Staff are so welcoming and the food is so fresh and lovely fresh ingredients used. One of our group needed gluten-free which they were very accommodating. We will be returning to this little Gem of a pub

I read the great reviews and so we visited recently for lunch and were slightly disappointed with the food. The chicken in one meal was dry, some parts of the other meals were over cooked. It was not as good as expected.

First time visit to the Rose & Crown. Fabulous time, great food and dog friendly. The staff and atmosphere was brilliant, will return soon.

A bit disappointed with the lukewarm roast. Nice pub, but I was expecting a better meal. Impressed by the lady who managed to get me a table for three despite it seeming when I phoned three days before our visit.

We fancied a Sunday roast at an idyllic, country pub where we hadn’t been before and chose here. What a gem! We can only echo all the previous reviews. Full marks on all accounts, especially the quality of the food. Both the turkey and beef dinners were top whole in all respects. A beefeaters paradise. No danger of anyone in this establishment being summoned to The Tower!

Visited on a Friday evening as a birthday treat for my mother. She has been here previously, this was my first time. A colleague had also told me of their pizza evenings and gave praise. Parking was jam packed by 1930 so had to leave the car on the main road. A small cosy pub with a wood burner, standard pub side stool seating and tables. We sat at a bench table beside each other near the front door. We didn't see the main dining area but it was a busy evening and sounded like plenty of seating. •Bread & oil •Rose & Crown Burger •Battered Cod & Chips •Honeycomb Charlotte •Salted Caramel & Almond Brownie Thoroughly enjoyable meal, clear plates each course. Boneless cod & generously stacked burgers was consumed with aplomb by us both. Would like to visit again to try other menu options. Thursday steak evening sound decent.

Lovely service in a great pub - we had a super dinner as a young family and were made very welcome. Food was great, locals were friendly and parking was easy.

Great service and generous tasty

Popped in on the off chance of a weekday lunch and we were very fortunate to get seated due to a very large party booking, however, we were well looked after and thoroughly enjoyed our meals which were very tasty (highlight for me was the lamb hot pot!) A little on the pricey side .....perhaps would be nice too see a lunch time set menu. Friendly staff and service. All in an enjoyable experience.

This pub has such friendly staff and the food was perfect so fresh great fresh ingredients and such wonderful choices of dishes. Nothing was too much trouble. We will return now we found this pub. The Sunday roast delicious best I had in a pub.

Went here for some lunch with my brother and a friend the food was excellent. I fancied a plough man's they didn't have it on the menu that day but still done one for me and it was lovely staff were very friendly and the service was great. well done the rose and crown. Will defo be back

The Rose and Crown is a cosy welcoming pub with very friendly staff and excellent food. We have recently visited there three times, twice for lunch and once for breakfast and everything that we have ordered we have thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend.

This is a fabulous pub. Just a bit too far for us to use as a local. Lovely in the summer and great food. Winter seats can be hard to find at the weekend .

Nice meal with friends lots of choice on menu, had salmon and asparagus with new potatoes and hollandaise sauce followed by brownie and ice cream all cooked and presented nicely. Ice sit in the sun for a chat afterwards 👌

Great food nice atmosphere lovely staff no rush to get table once eaten would say that if hadn't been for the seating outside wouldn't have stayed as long as the dining chairs were extremely uncomfortable.

Thank you again for another Fantastic meal this evening! I had the Cajun Chicken salad, my partner had Pie of the day with chips & not forgetting my little one with the best Chicken nuggets & chips. This establishment Rose & Crown is a country feel atmosphere was perfect for us, had a fabulous breakfast must recommend the salmon with pouched eggs yummy and the hollandaise sauce it was lush, my partner breakfast was lovely would come again, Parking available at the back.. most definitely be back!!

We tend to come here regularly for breakfast on a Saturday, we come over from Braintree but it's well worth it, good food and plenty of it, great staff very welcoming.

Only popped-in because I'm working in the next village and there's not a single shop or hostelry to attend my hunger there (the local pub has no beer...). The Rose & Crown was recommended by the owner of The Leather Bottle in Pleshey. He wasn't kidding. The pub was full of diners and there had a very "busy" vibe indeed. I ordered a sandwich to take away, and a coffee to drink while I waited for the sandwich. The sandwich was £12, but I was very hungry by this time. It was perfect. Fresh chunky-looking bread but not the "all-bread-and-no-imagination" effort one endures more often than not. It was a cheese sandwich, with the cheese lush in texture and very tasty, not at all overwhelmed by the bread. I'd noted the other diners tucking-in to their meals with gusto. Well worth another visit while I toil in Pleshey.
