Absolutely brilliant place for bottomless brunch, our favourite in Chelmsford. The staff are amazing, can't do more to help. Food and atmosphere is great too. Highly recommend

Always a great night at the wine cellar. In 4 visits the food is always stellar. atmosphere cosy and electric but most of all the fantastic service, staff super friendly and helpful. Impossible to find a fault in place.

The Wine Cellar is A1. Amazing atmosphere, generally good people and good food. Hidden gem. Special mention to Luke behind the bar. He is a testament to how good this place is. Friendly, remembers your order and a consummate professional who’s fully aware of what’s going on and strives to make sure you have a good night.When you have good bar staff like Luke you feel welcomed and you want to continue to come back.

Was really disappointed - only set menu offered, as before 6pm, so restricted choices. Didn't realise this, as not clear on website so not really happy. Ordered roasted veg and couscous, but struggled to find veg - it was mostly couscous, with miniscule chopped veg. For dessert, I had cheeseboard - very basic. Service fairly good, wine choice great. All in all ok, but, for the price, I expected more. Won't be back.

We booked here for a small family celebration. From our first arrival we were welcomed and put at ease. Service was excellent as was the selection of courses. We all agreed that our various dishes were of a high standard. A good wine list added to the occasion. There was no pressure to vacate the table when we were obviously finished. As we are local we will visit again. As somebody else commented - good independent busdinesses should be supported (especially in a city centre of chains!)

Went to the Wine Tasting event. SO disappointed. 4 of us went. Cost a small fortune. Was given a dribble of a handful of wines. Enough food to feed 3 ants. Outrageous cost for NOTHING. Never going back.

Very very weak cocktails, actually tasted just like juice. The menu states it’s £26.95 for bottomless brunch but have to add a main to get it, which is fine, but doesn’t state it’s actually an additional charge. No where on the menu says you have to pay extra charge for food on top, when I addressed this the manager she said ‘well no one’s complained before and I’ve done this since before covid’. So not helping the situation atall and was just rude. Unfortunately wouldn’t reccomened.

Absolutely outstanding service and food for the bottomless brunch. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly, along with delicious food and constant flow of Prosecco. Would highly recommend

I held a private bottomless brunch here and I could not have been more happy. The food was perfect and out bang on time for a group of 50. The service was incredible, Helen and Harry were a 5* team and I can't thank them enough for everything they done. No glass was ever empty and the atmosphere was amazing. Thanks so much!!

After visiting the place previously for drinks and having a good time, we had been wanting to re-visit for food. We called about half hour before hand and were able to get a table. The staff are very welcoming and the decor and an lighting just create such a nice atmosphere. We were looked after Beth who we found to be very frindly and informative. She had a created a great rapour and considering she was pretty much the only one serving she managed so well. We only ate fish and chips and bangers and mash (which although very tasty) the service and atmosphere enhanced the experience. Would definitely recommend.

Booked a specific table for a friends 40th birthday and was told on arrival they’d given it away with some excuse that they didn’t think we were coming. My friend had arrived at 4.55 and me at 5.04 for a 5pm booking. If a mistake was made on the wine cellars end, id much rather they had just owned up to it and apologised but to put it back onto the client was disappointing. They managed to find us somewhere else to sit until the table was vacated 45 mins later. If you make a booking here, be sure to confirm it the day before.

The food is so delicious! Love the new look to the dining area too. The staff are attentive and friendly. Highly recommended

Not been for a while and whilst the atmosphere was great as ever It seemed like the restaurant section was being very bravely staffed by one person and at times it felt like they were stretched, on top of that drinks orders placed through them weren’t being fulfilled by the bar. My wifes food was overdone and she couldn’t eat much of it but for the aforementioned reason an opportunity to say something didn’t come up until it was past the point it didn’t matter. The pork loin of my main was also overdone and only saved by a very nice mustard sauce. Hopefully just a slightly off night and if we return things will be as good as they used to be.

What a great little place , went with the wife for our anniversary and couldn’t be more happy, staff were super friendly and attentive, no waiting for ever to get a drink at the bar , food was delicious! Dosnt get to packed (will do soon) so great place for a drink

Cosy feel bar and very attentive and lovely staff. The food was amazing, I recommend the fish and chips! The portions are massive! Very nice feel to the place, we will definitely be back

Had a lovely long lunch in the wine cellar. It's a unique venue in a cozy atmospheric cellar. Very decent lunch menu with a choice of cooked food from a set menu or selection of sandwiches. We had the set menu. The food was simple British food with a variety of meat and veg options. The portions were generous. Presentation and taste was to perfection. The pricing was very budget friendly ( 3 courses for Under 30 pounds). There was a good selection of beer on tap with an extensive wine menu. We had a very long and lazy lunch from 13 till 16. The waiters were attentive. Do check the opening times as it is closed early in the week. Highly recommended for that special occasion.

Anniversary meal for us, and we chose the Wine Cellar. Booking was straightforward via the website and I mentioned it was our wedding anniversary. On arrival, it felt immediately super special: beautiful table out of the way, with a candle holder that said Happy anniversary. Lovely touch. We also got spoiled with a glass of Prosecco. Top service, attentive and discreet. We ended up having a 3 course meal with wine pairings (another lovely touch, as I never know what wine to have with what). My favourite course had to be the chocolate and hazelnut cheesecake - I didn’t take any other picture of the food as I was having a too lovely time! Thank you to all staff for being superb- we will be back!

Even walking down the tiny archaic steps to this venue is a treat. Great vibes, always warm friendly welcome. EXCEPTIONAL food, wine, cocktails and service. It’s got the lot and in a most beautiful setting.

However, as more people arrived and the addition of great background music (mainly 80s which was great for me!), it felt really relaxing. Two of us went for the set menu (£22.95 for 2 courses and £25.95 for 3 courses) whilst the remainder went for A-la-carte. All dishes were very tasty and served in a reasonable time. We had a variety of drinks and the pinot grigio and the shiraz went down a treat. We appreciated the little touches for my Dad which included a wine bottle on the table decorated in West Ham references and musical notes (they had asked in advance what kind of things he is interested in) and at the end a free shot of limoncello! I'd also like to praise Harry who was our waiter. He was a really friendly and funny guy who had banter with my Dad which helped make his night feel extra special. This is a lovely, cosy restaurant in Chelmsford and I hope it continues to do well.

Rudest staff I have come across, not helpful at all. Food took 1.5 hours to arrive, staff were patronising and non helpful - definitely won’t return. A disaster and I have never complained about places and food.

Loads of potential but didn’t really live up to expectations, really nice venue that as mentioned could do so much more. Slow service, wine wasn’t up to scratch (but maybe a bad bottle) a messy bar, cluttered and complete with a Costa cup. A few tweaks and this place could be a winner, sadly it fell short during our visit.

Ambience was very good, service was fantastic too. Lunch menu catered for all and was very much enjoyed. Highly recommended.

Lovely intimate place and the food is amazing

The food here was absolutely wonderful and so was the service. We booked for my mums birthday and they were so lovely and friendly, they even made a little table decoration for her! The food was absolutely amazing with everyone on the table singing praises all evening - we cannot wait to return!!!

Had a beautiful lunch on Friday . Staff are so friendly and chatty . Chicken bacon salad and prawns . Hubby had fish and chips , scrummy . All washed down by Malbec and a delicious hot chocolate and the apple and date pudding was delicious. This place is a hidden gem . Highly recommend.

I love it here - I’ve gone for just a glass of wine at the end of a day, bottomless brunch and dinner before- it really is a lovely cosy place with delicious wine and a great atmosphere

Made a last minute booking for steak night. The meal was absolutely perfect. Steaks were large and perfectly cooked. Sides were excellent. Great service. This little place is a real gem.

My friends and I went for dinner last night and the food was sensational. I had the cod with summer vegetables - it was one of the best meals I've ever had! The wine and espresso martinis were fantastic. Such brilliant staff and service. I can't wait to come again. I can't recommend this restaurant enough! Thanks so much for looking after us x

Love the wine cellar I feel like I’m going home when I go there ! The staff are all great and food amazing ! It was a great atmosphere and is small and intimate to go on a date of Mums and Sons lunches !

I really wanted to come for dinner as the menu looked wonderful, however it wasn’t a special Indian tasting menu event and fully booked. So we came late for drinks only about 10pm. Entry was down steep uneven steps so watch out if your in high heels! But well worth it when down - gorgeous little underground bar. Atmosphere was great, not too busy but enough to feel like a good time. We had what seemed like a large pornstar martini which was excellent, and some negronis and white wine - the Negronis were like rocket fuel, but my date like them! Was there a couple of hours and bar staff were really friendly. Can’t wait to go back for dinner again and try the menu!

We love coming here. The food is fantastic. Never had a bad meal here. My partner loves the rib-eye steak which always perfectly cooked and I loved the prawn starter and asparagus. The wine is always excellent especially the wines by the glass.

Amazing place! Service is excellent and so helpful. They gave perfect recommendations. The food is spectacular. The onion bhajis are so perfectly flavourful. The hens egg and asparagus is cooked ideally. The wine is amazing. Loved the pie of the week. What a great place!

I can't speak more highly of this bistro. The onion bhajis are delightfully inventive. The Parma ham and egg asparagus is mouthwatering and perfectly balanced.

Exquisite little hide out in the centre of Chelmsford.great ambience and wonderful wine. A particularly nice chocolate dessert wine. We visited one 13th April.rhe staff were so attentive and there was so much choice. The set menu was great value. I however, have a gluten and dairy allergy, and was offered a wonderful range of food including a dessert that wasn't sorbet. That really pleased me. Would I recommend? Absolutely

The food was absolutely incredible. The only thing I can fault was there wasn't enough of it! Portions were on the smaller side but the food itself was fantastic, best food I've had in Chelmsford without a doubt. Amazing red wine too!

We came here in January and the food was excellent but then we came again Saturday 26/2 and had a disappointing night. The starter was a bit overdone but we let it pass then two Steaks we ordered medium were over done, no red in the middle. The waitress who served agreed and took it off the bill but we were surprised as it was so good a few weeks before. Our friends had traveled from Devon so it was such a shame. Service excellent but let down by the food.

Not really impressed by customer service we dropped one full pint by accident and never been offered to be replaced had to pay for it while staff was chatting at the counter and guests in restaurant had to come to ask for another bottle Glad that a position wasn’t offered to me

Amazing little place hidden away in Chelmsford. Went for drinks to celebrate my partners birthday. Wine and gin menu was very extensive. Each gin had a thorough description. It was great to try some new gins. Staff were incredibly helpful and very friendly. Decorated bottle was a lovely touch and a great keep sake. Thank you.

One of the best restaurants in Chelmsford, wonderful atmosphere, very attentive and friendly staff, the food was delicious, pleased to see vegan options on the menu, food was perfect. Vast selection of wine on the menu and the cocktails were great - will definitely be returning regularly.

Easily the best adult bar in Chelmsford. Great selection of spirits, beers, wines and cocktails, fantastic service and just a great venue and atmosphere.

Went with the mrs last night for the first time, on a whim, unfortunately I didn’t get our waitresses name which is a real Shame but she is a diamond. Very helpful, very attentive. Even took the time to give us recommendations for other local independent places which helps! Food was great, well cooked, great flavour and decent prices. Looking forward to going back soon!

Beautiful venue, excellent service and food 👍🏼

A touch of class and fantastic date location. Probably the most elegant place to drink in Chelmsford city centre, although that’s not really a high bar. Staff are so lovely and if you have a special event call them in advanced and they’ll write on a wine bottle for you and have it on your table for when you arrive!

Consistently great food, wine (cocktails) and service. This is our favourite independent place to eat in Chelmsford- always great value food and drink, with friendly service. We keep coming back for more, can’t fault the place. Can’t wait to visit post lockdown!
