Had the pleasure of going here on Tuesday night (26/03/2024) with my boyfriend and his Dad. I got the chicken red Thai curry, my boyfriend got the fried cashew Thai style and his Dad got something with seafood and basil.... it was difficult to choose as there were so many options I wanted to try. Our server for the night was Annelle ( I hope I have spelled that correctly) and she was fantastic, really attentive and friendly, nothing was a problem for her, just wonderful. The food itself was really delicious and the portions were very generous and we got what we couldn't finish to takeaway so we could enjoy the rest at home.... which was just as well as I got to try the fried cashew Thai style as well and it too was really delicious ...... the venue itself was lovely and the toilet spotless, I will be back at least once more... but hopefully more than that and I am already looking forward to it!

I was welcomed at the door and was seated promptly. The waitress brought me water right away and then brought my drink order. The atmosphere was roomy and comfortable. The restaurant was clean and in good order. I ordered spring rolls and Hot Panang Currie. They were both delicious and the currie was just right on the hotness. The staff was friendly. I highly recommend Sweet Basil for your Thai cravings.

I don't like writing bad reviews, but this one is deserved. I stopped in for lunch on a cool rainy day to get some green curry. The hostess and waitress were nice and attentive. I appreciated this. The food, however, was not great. The curry was too thick, almost like chicken pot pie filling, and I only got 4 shrimp...4. Raise the price for better quality and more shrimp. Also, the jasmine tea was a tea pack and not loose leaf. Again, for the price, this is unacceptable. Finally, I'm not a fan of having the TV going as a filler.

Good fast lunch. Everyone was friendly and the food was good and spicy. Just the way I asked for it.

The service was attentive but not overbearing, our food came out fast and piping hot, and the panang curry was absolutely delicious. I will be back and order it again and again!

They have become a bit pricey, but love the way they cook the way I want the dish being a vegetarian!

Food is always fantastic. Service can be a bit hit or miss depending on the night - bar service is always good, though if going with a party be prepared to wait, especially on the weekends.

It is located in Pehlam Road, near Simpsonville, in Greenville County. There are plenty of spaces for parking available. I would suggest reserving in advance. We didn't reserve and had to wait for 15-20 minutes. Small waiting area available. Staff is ok, busy, not smiling people. We ordered an appetizer and main course- Pad Kee-Mao, which is Drunken Noodles. I must say it was great! We love Asia. Food, and we have had Drunken Noodles on several locations, but this was best so far! Well cooked, not too sweet, just appropriate 😋 Highly recommend eating at this restaurant. Will go back again.

Very good food. Vegetables were fresh, like the eggplant and baby corn. Some dishes had too much raw garlic for my taste. Chicken was good quality too. Servers were either stoic, grumpy or happy. The place was packed and there’s a great community of regulars who come here often. I love the fact that some items were labeled as containing shellfish. Half of the menu is a drink menu. It’s good and close to us, so we’ll definitely be back.

Our favorite place for date night

Tried a new dish for me, the Red Chili Noodles. It was fantastic. Generally a very good Thai restaurant! They get the heat just right. Tonight enjoyed the Thai Fried Rice with Tofu.. heat to hot. Really good. Staff was very welcoming.

I absolutely love dining at this restaurant. The service is outstanding, the food is of the highest quality, and the prices are fair. The owners are not only personable but also genuinely care about their customers and staff. It's an absolute perfection in every aspect.

My first time here and I had the crab and shrimp fried rice to go and it was disgusting. Threw it right in the garbage. The rice isn’t cooked right and extremely slimy and fishy. Probably won’t ever be back since a Thai place can’t cook rice correctly.

I'm visiting Greenville for work and this is the first time I've ever been to Sweet Basil. The service was great, the food was DELICIOUS and relaxing atmosphere with splash of elegance. My coworker and I ordered the calamari and sweet basil rolls for apps and had chili noodles and Basil Seafood. I now want to try everything on the menu🤤 This place is legit!

Best quality thai in the southeast!

Sweet Basil is a very good place to eat. If you are vegan and looking for a good dish then definitely stop in. They will cater to your dietary needs. The different curry options are great.

My daughter started eating Thai cuisine at age 5 because that's when Sweet Basil opened 18 years ago. We have been frequent and happy customers all those years. It is a special place with amazing Thai food. We are moving out the the area, and Sweet Basil is one of the places we will miss the most! Thanks for being a big part of our lives!

Stopped in late on a Friday night while visiting Greenville. We were seated quickly and our server was top notch. We started with Spring Rolls which were really good. For our entrees, we ordered Thai Sweet and Sour Chicken along with Pad Thai Chicken. Everything came out quickly and tasted great. Portions were also very large. Would highly recommend Sweet Basil Thai Cuisine as this was some of the best thai food we have had in a long time!

Food was good but would have been better if they got our order right. I said no mushrooms or baby carrots and my meal had both. When I spend $15 on lunch, my order should be right. It even said it on the container but I guess the cooks don't read the lid on the box.

Food was delicious even though they brought me an entree I didn't order (I ordered shrimp Amanda and they brought me chicken Amanda; I ate it anyway) and we were rushed to pay before they closed. Our fault since we didn't arrive until 40 minutes before closing.

Ordered Panang curry, pad Thai, and chicken satay. Meat was rubbery and did not taste good. Quality has gone down. Even though we brought it to the attention of the manager, nothing was done. We paid for dishes we did not eat. We will not go back there.

Extremely friendly service and a good menu. I'm used to a broader Thai menu, but the selection was certainly good. I asked for mild spice and it didn't have any spice. Other than that, it was a great experience and we will certainly be back!

My husband and I have been going to Sweet Basil for 5 years. It is a family establishment and you’ll be treated like family. The owners, Chin and Apple, are very good people with a passion for amazing Thai food. Their menu ranges from the more basic Thai food (pad Thai) to the more complex (pad kra paw basil Thai style). They have the best green tea in South Carolina.

I took the family & friends, 7 of us, on a Friday night and had great food in a great atmosphere. This is a classy looking place. Food is very fresh and ample food portions with most of the ladies taking home leftovers for another meal. I had the Thai fried rice with chicken and loved it. You get to choose how much "heat" you want added for those liking a spicier flavor. We had the appetizers: Satay chicken with peanut sauce and fried Calimari with Thai chili sauce and both were excellent. This place even has draft Sapporo & Kirin Ichiban beer on tap (OK, they are Japanese beers but you can also have Singha Thai beer in bottles; all go great with Thai food). Full bar with a couple of TV's for the sports fans. I can't emphasize enough of the high quality and freshness of the food, if you haven't tried Sweet Basil, you are missing out!

Absolutely loved the garlic and pepper stir fry as well as the Siam fried rice.

Consistently great authentic food. Consistent good service. Medium is above average spicy.

We have dined here every few months when we are in the area, and love the pad thai. Today was a huge disappointment, and we are left wondering what changed...ownership or chefs. The spring rolls were undercooked and doughy. The pad thai noodles were over cooked and mushy, the chicken was tough, and the "medium" heat wasn't even mild. We will try again in a month or so. Sincerely hope today's experience is just a one-off.

The food was delicious. The service was great. They kept our cups full and the waitress was patient when we didn't know what we wanted and had questions.

I have not been here in a few years and the last times I thought the quality of food and especially service did not justify coming back. I must say the food and service was very good and I enjoyed my girls night here, although the prices I find still pretty steep and therefore would not come back here on a regular basis - maybe for another special occasion though

I’m addicted to their Pad Thai. It’s my pay day treat! They are closed in between lunch and dinner so check the hours but it’s a great place!

If you like Thai, it's a good place to go. I didn't want to have rice with my main course and asked if I could get a portion of broccoli instead but they don't do substitutions. The food then came without the rice and I got the broccoli but they charged me $5 extra for it as a side. Overall, the food was good.

Things have changed since I last ate here, specifically the limited gluten free options and no fresh spring rolls (only fried). The Pad Thai was delicious.

Over priced!!! I would understand to charge me almost $20 for a bowl of soup that was filled with food and flavor but what y'all gave me was 90% water 1 % veggie and 8 % chicken all UNFLAVORED and pale colored! Literally disgusting, food trashed & money gone. Will ever EVER be back & will let everyone know NOT to come here. Get off your high horse.

So many great reviews. Ordered take out - Pelham Rd location. Sweet Basil Catfish. So Disappointed- It was so Fishy - almost to the point of spoiled. I should have gone back and returned it. The rest of the order was ok - Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup- But prices so expensive $$$. Got to be a better local Thai option.

Every substitution or extra is an UPCHARGE (Nickel & Dime restaurant people). Asked for brown rice instead of white rice for both of our meals, it's $9 upcharge each, total $18! RIDICULOUS! Asked for an extra "small" dipping sauce for spring rolls, it's a $0.99 upcharge. RIDICULOUS! The Amanda Shrimp was awful. Fried Shrimp was so curled-up and soggy from laying in the liquid you couldn't pick it up and they were tough to eat. The vegetables were not that flavorful. Just an AWFUL meal for me.

Both dishes were ordered as “Thai hot” and were not spicy at all. The food was fine regardless. Main complaint would be how sweet everything was.

The Worse Experience My friends and I had reservations and we arrived only 5 minutes late. They were already giving away our table to a walk-in customer. So we ordered drinks and an appetizer and felt like they wanted us to rush to order our main meal and when we started to eat they continued to harass us throughout our meal. Most of the harassment was from the owner/manager. This is our 2nd time I've had a bad experience. I like the food but because of the lack of respect....twice, I will never eat here again! It won't happen to me a third time....I promise you that.

Appetizers were good, however the beef curry was a different story, I order a beef curry soup, and instead got a plate with vegetables in a carrot soup. Maybe I'm expecting a lot since I been to California and New York where they do have authentic Thai food.

Always love coming here especially for lunch because they really accommodate us and get the food out in a timely manner without sacrificing the quality.

Excellent service from the time we walked in until we left. The owner even took a picture with us. The food was absolutely delicious, Spicy Thai Delight!! Spring Rolls, Mules, Thai Tea and Apple Saki, Pad Thai, and Green Tea shots. Green Curry, Yellow Curry, Cashew Nut!! 😋 Thanks to Chen and Martina! We will definitely be back and we highly recommend this place.

Great food. Never had a bad thai dish. Oddly enough a friend of mine brought his kids to dinner and they had chicken fingers. The chicken fingers were incredible as well.

Honestly if I could leave less than 1 star I would…There are many words to describe the experience, however none are pleasant. I planned to dine at this restaurant just yesterday with some friends and my service dog which I am training for a veteran with PTSD (She is fully trained to sit quietly under a table), yet as soon as we entered we were pushed back outside to an unofficial outside dinning area the owner created last minute, which happened to be on the sidewalk in front of the building. Now I enjoy a good outside dining experience just as much as the next person but I enjoy it even more so when it is by choice as well as an everyday option. The owner of this establishment did not give us the choice simply because I had my service dog with me. He repeatedly questioned my friends about my disability and then demanded to see my dogs ID (Neither of these things are legal in South Carolina). According to the owner I was too young for a service dog plus I was neither blind nor in a wheelchair. I found the entire experience utterly disgusting so my friends and I decided rather than spend our money at such an establishment we would just leave and find somewhere better. We proceeded to walk to our cars and the owner came out of the restaurant asking us why we were leaving. We told him respectfully that we would rather take our business elsewhere to which he began following us to our cars and telling us he didn’t want people with such bad attitudes eating at his restaurant anyways. He then took pictures of our license plates for whatever reason he deemed fit and proceeded to walk back inside. Overall, the experience was horrible and I definitely won’t ever eat here. I’m simply glad that I myself am just a service dog trainer/raiser and not someone who has an unseen but very real disability, because I can only imagine the type of anxiety and stress this situation would cause. The ADA specifically says that all service animals in SC are allowed to accompany their handler in any public establishment as long as the dog is well trained and controlled (which my dog is) yet the owner of this establishment directly discriminated against me and my dog because he was unable to see a physical disability 🙄. **I have included a picture of what my dog is trained to do in the restaurant setting and she would have done the same thing at this establishment had we been allowed inside**

We tried to take a service dog in training into this restaurant, and the owner questioned what kind of disability the owner of the dog had (which is not legal to ask in South Carolina), then asked multiple times for the license, then proceeded to make us sit outside because she was a service dog in training and pushed the friend with the service dog out of the door. Did not even give her a chance to step into the restaurant, even though the dog is trained to sit under the table. We decided to leave and he followed us out to our cars, proceeded to tell us that he did not want us to eat at that establishment anyway because of our “attitude” (which was us saying “we have decided to eat elsewhere because that is not okay”), then proceeded to say that there is nothing wrong with us because we are young. This dog is being trained to work with veterans with PTSD, so I question what his response will be if a veteran were to come in and he isn’t “blind or can’t walk”, which were the owner’s criteria for letting in a service dog to his establishment. My friend that was with us has a heart condition. He also decided to stand behind our cars and take our license plates, for what I will never know. Overall, this experience was disgusting and I will not be eating at this establishment ever again. I do feel bad for the waitresses and the wife of the owner, who all seemed to show a lot more empathy than the owner himself.

My daughter and I have been looking for authentic Thai food, so after many recommendations, we decided to finally try Sweet Basil Thai. It started out wonderful. We ordered the fresh spring rolls, shrimp dumplings and Tom yum soup for appetizer, and I ordered fried rice with shrimp, and my daughter order noodles with chicken.. All the appetizers and soup did not disappoint. The soup was full of flavor, lemongrass was on point and perfect heat. However, when I got my fried rice I was surprised how light the color looked. I thought to myself, it doesn’t matter it could still be full of flavor, but no, I was wrong. It was so bland. It tasted nothing like Thai fried rice that I’ve had in many different Thai restaurants coast to coast. I was so disappointed, I had to send it back. When I told our server, he immediately knew and said that he makes his own because they use some sort of sticky rice and there’s no flavor. Zero flavor…… would I go back just for the soup? Possibly. But the hype about the place is not there for us. We will find the perfect Thai restaurant here in the greater Greenville area 🤞.

Give 1 star. Went for dinner with friend, they were busy and on a wait. Totally disorganized at entrance, never recognized or spoken to about seating, could not get anyone's attention for all the confusion. Not for me. I am demanding good service and food when I go out and spend my hard earned money in these times.

When I placed a take out order they got my order wrong and insisted I was getting 7 orders of spring rolls. When I got to the restaurant to pick it up I told them again I didn’t want 7 orders just 1 and they gave me a hard time about my order and didn’t want to refund me the 80 dollars I just spent on spring rolls! Food may be good but the service was terrible!

Food is okay but had a little problem and I was very disappointed on the attitude and how it was resolved by the owner even though it was taken care of. The staff is excellent and everybody treated me with respect other than the owner. I understand mistakes happen and yes I was part of the mistake because I did not read my check even though we were with a party of four. But when I did read my check and saw two dishes were overcharged. I notified the owner and was given a tongue lashing that I should have checked this when we were there and to make matters worse kept telling me I had to come in right away if I wanted to get the $4 straightened out. As far as I'm concerned I won't be going back there. I think those that look at my reviews know that I'm pretty fair and I think if this was handled with a little different attitude by the owner it could have given five stars but the owners attitude is so unacceptable. I see from some of the other negative reviews they talk about the manager owner and his poor attitude to customers at point things out. I tried it once and he could have had a long-term customer but I think it's best for both of us. I rather go to places that appreciate their customers and if something is wrong take ownership without badgering a customer. The group I went with has agreed for us to go to the one in Simpsonville on main Street which is an excellent Thai restaurant that they treat their customers with respect. When I did stop in 2 days later he continued to badger me to the point chasing me to my car telling me the next time I need to check my bill and as I told him there will be no next time.

Have eaten here several times and its still one of our favorite restaurants. Service is outstanding and the food never disappoints. Worth the visit.

Goodness! Where do I begin? I observed a lot of action going on in this place and in a great way. Let me explain. There’s a teamwork system going down here. One staff member will sit you at a table, a different one will bring you water (for starters so you’re not waiting), another comes and takes your order, then another brings your food. It doesn’t end there, someone else brings drink refills. Lastly, someone else offers to take your leftovers and box them up for you. It is an incredible system that they have down pat and I was just blown away at their time management skills despite how the industry is a bit shaken up these days. Everyone was so nice and the environment was cozy and clean. We didn’t have any issues at all. The food was OUT OF THIS WORLD so good. If you’re looking for recommendations and aren’t sure, try their Tom Ga Kai soup and their Sweet and Sour rice plate with whatever meat you want. I know all their dishes are good, but if you’re unsure and don’t know where to start, that’s an option! They offer spice levels for your food so you can be No spicy to really spicy, it’s entirely up to you! Definitely give it a try. They also didn’t have us waiting long for the food to come out. It was insane. The presentation, flavors, amount of food…. I’m just impressed. Definitely worth visiting. We are new to the area and this one is going down in our list of places to frequent. Thanks for having us!

The prices shown on the internet do not reflect what they charge you. Make sure you look at your bill. I was charge for four entrees and got three at a higher price than what you see. I questioned the owner after I got home and he told me he would refund me the difference and never come back. Hmmmm. Stay away from this place.

Always delightful, and easily my favorite restaurant on this side of town. I haven’t had a bad meal from here yet, and have been enjoying their offerings for several years now. I will warn those who don’t like spice to not order above medium, because if you order hot it may be more than you expect.
