Had Sunday lunch here. Staff were so friendly and helpful, squeezing us in at the last minute. The roast was delicious! And they were happy to make up a vegetarian option for 2 of our children. The puddings were amazing and big portions... If you get the chance to try the bara brith bread and butter pudding you really should! Highly recommend.

Last minute decision to go out for a roast dinner with my parents and two dogs. We were made to feel very welcome including the dogs. Food fantastic and hot, service excellent and everything well priced. Look forward to a return visit.

Just had a Sunday lunch absolutely fantastic. We had belly pork and one of us had fish and chips. 10 out of 10. Pleasant atmosphere and efficient staff.

Landlord is superb , always friendly and welcoming. The food yesterday was AMAZING by the New chef , totally amazing 100% you won’t be disappointed.

Need to recruit staff with a bit more about them, who look as though they want to help rather than a group of 3 teenagers standing at the end of the bar talking when visitors are waiting to be served. Basic pub grub depsite it being recommended to us as a chef who prepares the menu and food. Ate here Thursday and Friday they were happy to take our £40 both nights. Yet on Saturday when we popped in for dinner as there isn't much choice in the area we were told there was a table of 6 coming in and a table of 4 about to order. You sell food that's what happens, it's called business. Clearly didn't want ours on that particular night

Lovely pub, we had Cajun Chicken and Chicken, bacon on Belgian waffle with black pudding crumbs. Meals arrived in a timely fashion, well presented and hot, both really tasty. Good portions however need more black pudding on the stack. Thank you for a great evening

Annual family Christmas get-together for 12. Enjoyable two course meal. Staff excellent. Friendly relaxed atmosphere which was ideal as we had three excited young children who were rather busy. Has become a Christmas tradition for us. Thank you to Merv and his team.

Great place to watch the rugby, great food - the chips were some of the best I’ve had in any pub!! That’s saying something. Good beer and range, veg options available and nice atmosphere. Very welcoming, which is a novelty for a country pub. Would recommend, if you’re in the area

Pop in from the caravan site down the road (15 mins walk) greeted by a very friendly owner, we said we hadn't booked a table he said no problem so we ordered drinks & he brought us menus over. The food was superb ,me and my wife were stuffed! The food and drinks were very reasonable staff very friendly we will definitely be back again next year.

We had a fantastic meal here. The menu has a really good amount of choice and we were very impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. Stopped here for Sunday lunch half way through a walk and sat out the back under a marquee. Sunday lunch was excellent and the service was also excellent, quite a rarity these days to get both. Having a fab view from the back just made it perfect. Lovely pub.

Incredible Sunday roast. Presentation was immaculate, everything tasted top-tier and to top it off, the prices were great! Desert is a must have as well. Service was also excellent, all staff welcoming and attentive. Happy to help you with anything. Inside decor is lovely and the views from from beer garden are stunning. Highly recommend.

Mixed grill was excellent. Not a single component skimped on. Reasonably priced too.

Went on 20/5/23. Food was absolutely amazing, handcut chips were delicious. Price's were reasonable. The banofee pie was to die for. I would highly recommend. Along with 10/10 food the staff on that evening were super friendly and went above and beyond. The view was also stunning from the beer garden. We will be returning.

We called in on the off chance while passing to see if food was being served and we are so glad we did! My husband had fish and chips he really enjoyed it and it was really good size. I had the roast pork Sunday lunch and was so glad I did! Excellent quality and so tasty! Lots of meat. Roast and mash potatoes,stuffing, chipolata and stuffing. Separate bowl of 4 veg to add and the best gravy!! Amazing and at a really good price. It's a shame we were just passing but will definitely go again if in the area! I would recommend a stop off if you are passing too!!

I had lunch here with my family. We all chose different items from the menu, all were fabulous. The chips are the best ever. Gorgeous old pub with open fire, lovely decor and very clean. Lovely friendly staff, very chatty and welcoming. Will definitely be back - many thanks for a great lunch. Looking forward to next time.

This is a 5* review for a local country pub. Do not expect the finest dining experience from a big city restaurant. However, if you want some stonking food, at a cracking price and served hot and quick... You got to get in here. We went on a Sunday, booked a table for 4. Got sat down, menus in front of us. Ordered a 3 course meal each (simple starters, roast dinner and selection of charming puds) and a drink each. £75 for the 4 of us... Sorry what! Crazy value! I did not drink beer, as I was driving, so I cannot comment on their ale, but they had a few on and the bar lady was attentive. The vibe was local pub, with TVs on but not load and a nice bustle of people eating and/or drinking. I would have felt comfortable having a few quiet ones alone. Parking was more than ample and the toilets perfectly serviceable. I would struggle to ask for much more from this establishment in the context that it is seen in. Good job, Landlord and team. Keep it up.

Friendly atmosphere, really friendly Young lady served us. Good choice of food at great prices. Food lots and tasty. Visited as just passing will be going back again soon.

Stopped off for Sunday lunch with my husband and three dogs. Omg the food was incredible. Best Sunday lunch for a while and just what I needed. Husband had the burger and said it was best burger. We went for a meal on the Saturday somewhere else back home and paid stupid amount of money but this place was fantastic and exceptional value. Staff really friendly and welcoming.

I came here expecting it to be just normal crummy pub food but it was surprisingly good. The prices were fair and it's a very nice place to go for a drink. The women on the bar are very polite and friendly. I would deffinitely recommend here.

Fantastic pub with new owners and staff. Visited yesterday and Lucy behind the bar was fantastic, friendly and chatty. Six of us had a spot of lunch and no complaints at all with either food or drink. Highly recommend that you visit.

We rang to see if food was being served whilst close by. The owner was very polite and welcoming. 6 of us shared 3 platters and some sides. The food was piping hot, plentiful, lovely and the service great! Thanks for having us.

We have been visiting our local, The Royal Oak for over 30 years and as stated in a few of my previous reviews, the pub has had a chequered history for some years. Recently Michelle and Alex have taken over the pub and what a transformation they have achieved. The pub has been mainly redecorated and new fittings have been installed but most of all the food and beer are now absolutely fantastic and Michelle and Alex and all the staff give everyone a truly warm welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They are even opening at lunch time and in the afternoons during most of the week serving a great range of fantastic food and drinks with their usual hospitality. It’s a real pleasure to go to this pub now and my wife and I along with other locals are so pleased to see the transformation they have achieved. I recently called in on a Wednesday lunch time and ordered a bacon and egg bap and expected to get the usual bap alone but what I got was a mini feast , see photo We have had several meals since Michelle and Alex took over including two evening meals and two Sunday lunches all of which were really excellent. The broccoli and stilton soup I had as a starter with my last Sunday Lunch was possibly the best I have ever had. We and all the locals are so pleased that our local pub is now in such safe hands.

Lovely country pub. The best service from the man at the bar (sorry I didn’t get his name). I don’t really write reviews but I felt this guy deserves it as he was genuinely so friendly. It really makes such a difference. The food was 10/10 as well, lovely homemade fresh meals.

Now the management has changed (Nov 19) the place has transformed into a very welcoming, warm country pub, as it should be. The food, drink and service is all excellent. Meals are good value and good sized potions. Lovely log burner always lit. Staff very friendly and welcoming. 10/10. Mike W.

We went for the 2 meals for £15, the food was lovely and can recommend the steak and ale pie, staff were friendly and attentive. Lovely atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

We visited the Royal Oak on the recommend of a friend and were not disappointed. It was our first visit and the staff were welcoming and service was very good. We both ordered the large breakfast... I don't like bacon so had an extra egg... It was no problem. The breakfast was hot, tasty and the sausages were delicious. Like I said to my husband, if somewhere can get breakfast right, all is well for anything else. This was a wonderful place for an impromptu brunch and we shall be returning, thank you.

Was our first visit to the Royal Oak, and will definetely be returning. The barman was charming and made us both welcome . Spoilt for choice for food, had 3 courses which were all cooked to perfection, Will be making this our no 1 for food. Have heard Sunday carvery is good too

Myself and my boyfriend went for a meal recently to see what the new chef was like. The sizzler is soooo much more authentic, the chicken was cooked perfectly and the veg delicious, their home made chips were the best I’ve had in a long time. My boyfriend had the melt in the middle burger which you could tell was homemade, he said it was cooked perfectly for a burger and thoughrally enjoyed it. Pudding was the highlight, the home-made cheesecake was to die for, hands down the best I’ve had. Staff were attentive and really friendly, welcoming and warm. The barman ‘Brad’ was superb, couldn’t be more helpful and very easy to talk to, an absolute sweetheart. Will definitely be returning - very soon too!!

Lovely country pub with nice food!

New Chef and Wow! What a difference it has made. Visited this place recently and was slightly disappointed due to the food we was served. When my daughter read there was a new Chef my family and I was willing to give it a second chance and I’m so glad we did. We went a long for the Sunday Carvery. When we arrived the pub was extremely busy, which is always a good sign, and was welcomed by a lovely young lad, Brad who seated us and explained the menu for the Day and went on to explain that everything is made from scratch, even the bread! We started off with Garlic mushrooms, soup and Pate. There all a must! Best we have ever had.

Eaten here twice this week whilst visiting family in Treflach. Good pub food, well priced. Friendly staff and accommodating kitchen staff when requesting a slight change to a children's meal. Would recommend, as with most small village pubs use it or lose it! Hope that it builds on its early successes under new management and we can visit again next year.

We have just had an excellent lunch at The Royal Oak. Our first time since Michelle took over recently and we were very impressed. An excellent roast lunch - a good choice on the menu and being over 60 we took advantage of the "Two roast lunches and 2 drinks for £10" offer. My husband had a terrific chocolate brownie sundae and my friend thought the Bailey's cheesecake delicious. Great service from Brad - we will be back again soon.

Lovely country pub excellent Sunday lunch perfectly cooked roast and all the trimmings. Perfect after a countryside ramble as the portions are very generous. Very attentive staff and owners make it an enjoyable experience. Look forward to going again.

The Royal Oak Treflach is our local pub . We have meals a couple of times a week always fantastic and the new owners Alex and Michelle are now doing special deals through the week .

Now OPEN again under new management and owners, a breath of fresh air but Jamie the Chef back so great food again and bigger and better menu. It's also open for lunch. Do come and enjoy, support this local pub and family running it.

Nice comfy pub great food very nice staff

I went with my husband for Sunday lunch without booking, and the staff were first rate.

On arrival the pub looked lovely from outside but inside the tables and chairs were not as seen in the photos on the web site and it was a bit disappointing. The waitress greeted us and we would give her 10/10 although a pint of beer arrived instead of the half we ordered but charged for a pint. The starter was prawns and smoked salmon served on a bread platter. It just did nothing served like that and the prawns were tiny. The Sunday roast was beef or ham or chicken and as we couldn't decide so they offered us a bit of each. The meats were tender but the veg was overcooked and piled high. The final straw was the door into the room from outside was a latch and 99% of the customers did not latch the door, so I was up and down every couple of minutes. I can't even say cheap and cheerful... it was neither of those. The staff get full marks.There was an issue with the fire so sitting by the entrance door was cold but the room next to the bar was modern and light and really warm.
