Magnificent mansion, magnificent estate and superb room. In terms of quality, cleanliness of the infrastructure, nothing to complain about, everything is perfect, even more than perfect. A very nice touch in the room for my birthday with a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates. The breakfast is excellent, high quality and gargantuan. The bartender is also very professional, helpful and pleasant. On the other hand, the quality of reception and check-out could be improved. The welcome is not the warmest although professional. The staff at breakfast are very professional. However, one person was really very cold, bordering on unpleasant. For the quality and price of the hotel's services, it's a shame. The biggest disappointment was not being able to purchase the large Lionel the lion soft toy, which is in all the rooms and, which is in all the photos of the hotel. There's even a message attached to his neck, stating that he's for sale at the front desk. However, at reception, we are told that this is not possible, that only the intermediate format remains. When you advertise everywhere, when you promise your child to "adopt" him, and in the end, there are none left or none, I find it borderline unprofessional. Especially when you pay £600 for a night, the least you can do is make sure you find a solution for the customer

Not our first visit to the King's Arms, certainly won't be our last. Sunday Roast is delicious. One vegetarian, one chicken. Both SoOoo good. Service is fast, efficient and friendly. There was a very large party of diners getting ready to leave as we arrived. We were seated promptly and given our menus. Once the revellers had vacated the staff cleared/cleaned/re-laid in a speedy and efficient manner. Putting everything to rights for the next sitting of diners. And in they came. We were all served quickly with true efficiency.

My mum and I had the loveliest afternoon tea. Our waiter was perfectly nice and quickly decided to move us, since another table was making noise. He was kind, the service was exceptional and the tea, food and atmosphere was delightful. We would definitely recommend!

My husband and I stayed here for the weekend this month to celebrate our 10year wedding anniversary. We booked dinner for the Friday night, which was excellent- food and live music! Breakfast both mornings-delicious. Sunday roast- also wonderful! The rooms and restaurant areas were super clean and cosy! The staff were all really friendly. I noticed the pub and Lynmouth area is really dog friendly. Amazing walks around- we had never been to Lynmouth/Lynton before but I highly recommend! The walks were great! Will definitely be making a visit again!

Fantastic Sunday roast - perfect in every way, a generous portion of pork, served piping hot with giant, fluffy yorkshires and a really flavoured gravy on a mountain of veg. Sticky toffee pudding desert was a step too far, but so worth it.

Food was great here. I have given service a 4 as there were two servers who gave different levels of service and interaction, but overall good. Only negatives are that the tables could do with a good scrub / revarnish as they are a little sticky, and maybe a refresh of the bench seat cushions.

Having seen The Royal Oak on the 'Great Places to Eat' TV programme, we decided to give it a try. It's a very small pub, with a big garden and an undercovered area with wooden tables. It was packed inside, so The Wife & I took the drinks we'd bought at the bar to a table (shared with another couple) in the undercovered area. Food is ordered at a kiosk overlooking the garden and the choice is pretty much 'Ploughman's lunch or Ploughman's lunch'. However, the Ploughman's can come with cheese, gammon, smoked mackerel, smoked trout pate, quiche, sausage roll or pork pie, and there are vegan and/or vegetarian options available. All are served with warm ciabatta, coleslaw, pickled onions, mixed leaves, chutneys, pickles - fantastic! At £14 per plate, this is great value. Wonderful place... will revisit.
