We each had a Sunday Roast and enjoyed it....only slight criticism is that the gravy was too salty for our taste. The meats we had were very good quality, very tender and delicious. We shall definitely be back and try other things from the menu.

Went to this pub on a recommendation from the campsite we were staying at. It was a rainy day and we had spent the day out visiting several places so we were tired and hungry. We had the Beer battered cod and chips for 12.95. Can honestly say it was the best fish and chips we have had for a very long time. Tartare sauce was lovely too. Great pub, welcoming atmosphere, clean, free wifi, will definitely come back again. Thank u so much.

A lovely quaint pub and restaurant. Well worth the visit but booking is recommended. It has a pool table and sky sports tv. Car parking is available and there is a lovely little garden area with a play section for children. Dogs are also welcome. Food is delicious and plentiful. Staff are very friendly. A worthwhile visit for good old fashioned pub food!

This is the fourth time coming here for an evening meal. We cannot find fault with anything. The food provides quality, quantity and is reasonably priced. Slight mix up over our booking for a fairly large group but they fitted us in anyway without any hassle. Good food, all arrived at the same time, reasonably priced. Only slightly negative thought, the small portions come on very small plates, which makes keeping the food on them a challenge. Very friendly staff though more than make up for that.

If we lived in a village with village pub we'd want it to be the Queens Head. We use this place whenever our car is in the local Peugeot dealer (as originally recommended by them!) and we love it. Landlord and staff really friendly. Great menu. Certainly not over priced, which is a bonus these days. Whilst our car was in the garage last Friday we arranged to meet friends in here (they had been staying in Cornwall for a few days and met us on their way home). We all only wanted a snacky lunch on this occasion so we both had the soup on special and it was delicious and they shared a panini and chips and thoroughly enjoyed theirs too. They had a special on that day - fish & chips or scampi & chips for £5.95!! It looked proper when it came out too. Next time! The pub was so busy and now we know why. That's how to fill a put 'out of season'! This place has everything spot on and we can't wait to go back, in fact we're happy to drive down from home (Bude) just to have lunch here and we probably will!

My wife and I decided to pay this pub a visit yesterday evening, We had visited before whilst it was under previous management but not for food, So we thought we would give it a go. I am so glad we did! The atmosphere was lovely when we arrived and we felt very welcomed. We were assigned a table in the dining area by a window which was nice, We ordered Salt and Pepper Chicken as a starter which was delicious, followed by the buttermilk chicken burger for my wife and the mega burger for me, The portion sizes are great and we both struggled to finish our meals, The staff were all very attentive and couldn't do enough for you, All in all a great experience and very reasonably priced!

Being locals means that we know quite a few pubs where you can find a good lunch. The Queens Head was recommended by a friend for roast lunch so we added it to our list of pubs to try. The roast did not disappoint and scored highly with us for the quality of the roast potatoes ( we're fussy about the fact that roast potatoes should be roasted and not, as some pubs do, do them in the deep fat fryer), lovely beef and homemade Yorkshire puddings. It was a friendly atmosphere and living quite close by , we will come back....not just for the roast lunch!

We had the pleasure to come across the Queens Head at St Stephens earlier this evening, en route from North Cornwall, back to our accommodation in Fowey. Realising just how busy pubs and restaurants are in Cornwall right now, we’d resigned ourselves to miss out on an evening meal today. That said, we thought we’d give the Queens Head a try as we were passing through St Stephens and, predictably enough, the place was full. That didn’t stop the extremely friendly and accommodating manager or owner doing his level best to squeeze in our party of three, despite our not having made a booking. The food was delicious and plentiful, the local beer great and all the staff we encountered were wonderfully hospitable, diligent and delivered a friendly service that was second-to-none even though they were working under great pressure. Prices at the Queens Head are also very reasonable. Can’t recommend this place highly enough and will make a point of returning next time we are fortunate enough to find ourselves in Cornwall.

Ashamed to say we didn't visit this pub on our last camping trip to Court Farm Campsite - more fool us! Decided to book a meal this time and will definitely return next time we camp there.First impressions really do count. I immediately felt relaxed and at home when we entered into the bar from the car park. Staff very friendly and welcoming and the whole area had a good feel to it. Nice, steady pace of service and delivery - not too rushed or too slow, just right. It would be lovely to have this pub where we live. The meals were excellent and a very generous portion. Plenty of choice on the menu for all of us. Opted for mains only in the hope we could squeeze a pudding in but sadly not, everyone was too full. We returned to camp well fed and watered to hunker down and face Storm Evert - thankfully with minimum damage to our tent.

Booked this on holiday as we were staying in St Stephen. Our friends live on the same road and heard great reviews. We weren’t disappointed! Warm welcome, lovely clean tables and floors (so many family friendly pubs have food and crayons everywhere!) we went without our three children for a change but hearing other family tables having fun made the atmosphere lovely. The locals were smiling and welcoming which makes you feel more comfortable in someone’s “local”. The food was exemplary and the steak was cooked to perfection with a homemade Stilton sauce which was perfect. I ordered extra veg which was unnecessary as the portion sizes were huge! Ended with dessert and coffee. One of the most of enjoyable meals out ever! Thanks to all the staff for making our visit so enjoyable.

I was staying at a B&B about a mile up the road (Clearview Cottage, also 5/5, highly recommended) so wanted somewhere to have an evening meal. Apart from the chippy, Archie's', the Queens Head is the only place serving cooked food. You'd think that because they have a monopoly they'd not try very hard? Wrong. I ate there 6 times and tried pretty much every veggie dish. All but one were superb, the enchiladas were definately the absolute best, and most generous. The only disapointment was the veggie curry; not very spicy and far too sweet (get rid of the sweetcorn, stick in some fresh chilis and cumin, sorted).By the end of my stay they knew what I drank and how I liked it (no ice or lemon!). They'd even made me a fish & chips earlier than the serving time, and reserved me a table in front of the telly for the England/Germany game. This place is also a hit with people from further afield including cyclists & hikers, especially at weekends, so book a table in advance. Sunday roast is highly recommended and with veggie options. The regulars are the nicest people you could hope to meet. Paula and her husband are proper Cornish and rightly proud of their pub.PRO'S - Cosy, nice location, plenty of seating outside, huge menu, lots of local produce, priced for locals, chatty and friendly staff, dog and child friendly, very clean loos, stunning church and graveyard opposite. CON'S - Veggie dishes scattered throughout the menu making them a little hard to find, so take your time. No cooked food on Mondays. That's it. So almost perfect.

So we came out for my birthday, last orders for food was 8:30pm. It was good pub food, not bad at all, but not outstanding either! The steaks were not as expected from a more expensive rib eye! We were more upset that after eating we couldn’t have a sweet!!!!!?? Guys make that clear!!!!!!! I’m pretty sure no one orders a sweet until they’ve had a main as you don’t know if it’s needed! But make it clear that sweets are not optional after mains if ordered past 8:30!2.5/5 stars.....

Booked for a roast Easter Sunday, and did ask if caters for gluten free. I would say that they don't exactly cater but get round it, by ommitting the gluten containing parts, so I had seven roast potatoes and meat and gravy plus the veg brought out separately. But no Yorkshire puds, or cauliflower cheese, or stuffing like the rest of the party. I also noticed there was nothing gluten free for pudding other than the standard ice-cream. But everyone in the party enjoyed the meal, and got to say that the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. So would go again, knowing what to expect re: gluten free.

The Queens was recommended by one of my neighbours as they use it on a regular basis. We decided to try it out on a Tuesday evening in Mid January, As we approached we saw all the cars out front and wondered if we should have booked, however when we drove into the car park we were fairly certain that there was no booking necessary as only a couple of cars were present. On entering it was nice to feel the heat after the cold outside, the welcome from the bar man was friendly and overall the place was clean and of good decoration.Menu reviewed and food orders placed at the bar, drinks purchased and then we had a short wait for the starters to arrive. The buffet for one as a starter was great, thoroughly enjoyable and washed down with another pint of Proper Job.Starter plates cleared and Mains arrived fairly quickly, all very good. No room for a pud on this occasion but I am sure there will be when we return in the Summer months.A nice pub with friendly staff, a little lacking in atmosphere on this occasion but it was mid January and only a couple of people were using the establishment.Looking forward to revisiting during the summer.

The pub has a quieter sit down area for those not interested in standing by the bar or watching the tv. Of course outside has an undercover smoking area. Great staff, great atmosphere, proper local cornish pub!

Despite being a local for 28 years, it took a trip back from Down Under for my daughter, and me, to visit with friends. We went for dinner on a Tuesday evening. We had a beautiful meal, the service and staff were lovely and we were made to feel extremely welcome. It's a beautiful pub with a very homely feel. Highly recommend and we will certainly be back.

My wife and 2 grown up children thoroughly enjoyed our meals at the Queens Head. Our food 3 Mixed Grills and a lasagne was cooked just as we had requested. The drinks were great. The landlady and staff were polite, attentive and friendly. Great value and highly recommended.

We've eaten here quite a few times now. The bar staff, landlady and landlord are always polite and friendly. Some evenings it can be very busy, with pool teams or the local football team in, others can be fairly quiet. There is plenty of space and choice of seating areas (bar, restaurant or outside). We thinks it's generally good value for money. We spend £30-£40 between 2 of us for food and a few drinks each.Any meal we've eaten has always been great. As well as a good menu, there is also a specials board. Meals are generally on the larger side, meaning I don't often have space for dessert, but when I do the chocolate brownie is amazing! Our most recent visits were last week and last night. The only disappointment last night was the lack of enchiladas on the specials board! This has to have been one of our favourite meals here, something a little different. The chicken and salsa filling was nicely spicy without being too hot, it came with sour cream and guacamole dips (first time I've eaten guacamole and liked it) and nachos, which were a nice change from chips. It's getting more difficult to find pubs like this. A fantastic, traditional, friendly pub!

Stopped for a meal after visiting the Eden Project. Really good food in a nice environment at very reasonable prices and decent beer on tap. 8oz rump steak cooked perfectly - delicious. Good childrens menu. Looked to be a nice beer garden but was after dark and we didn't check it out. The only thing was a mix up in the kitchen meaning my wife's meal arrived a bit late, but to be fair, apologies and complimentary drink were offered immediately. So, without knowing this pub, it felt like this was a genuine blip and we'd return without question and would be happy to recommend giving this pub a try.

Five of us from work went to the Queens Head for a leaving lunch for one of our colleagues. Surprisingly the pub was almost empty with just one other table of diners. The menu was good and very reasonably priced. 3 of us had the steak and it was absolutely gorgeous. A really huge sirloin steak with onion rings, tomatoes, mushrooms, peas and chips and I can honestly say it was the tastiest steak I have had for years. I almost popped myself eating it all, it was just too good to leave any. I would highly recommend this pub for food. I will definitely be going back.

I have visited this pub a couple of times now when I visit my friend who lives in the village. The pub serves traditional Cornish ale along with the more well known brands. My friend and I had dinner and the menu is perfect with plenty of variety for all tastes. The service was second to none and the food was delicious. The pub has a charm all of its own and you are made to feel very welcome. They even do a lunchtime special for the over 55s which I am sure is very well attended by the locals. I will definitely be back on my next visit to Cornwall

Just moved in to the village of St Stephen. So this is my new local. A welcoming place serves a lovely well poured Guinness and very proud of the Cornish ales.Great food including a cracking Sunday roast all the trimmings comes in 2 sizes regular and large. The regular was enough for me.There is parking and a small beer garden that catches the sun most of the day. Dogs are allowed.

Great food, proper Cornish Ale, friendly staff, great setting. This pub is one of the best we have been to, can't understand why it was so quiet, don't miss this out if you are in the area.

This is a lovely building modernised in a good way with good ambience. We popped in hoping we could find a table and no problem. We could have eaten in the garden but decided to eat in. There was also good access to all areas for persons who are disabled. There was a good choice on the menu and we both found something we liked. The staff were very helpful and checked to ensure everything was satisfactory which it was indeed. When our meals came in a fairly short time it was clear they were freshly cooked and we're sized portions. We both thoroughly enjoyed the meal which included a sweet. No hesitation on recommending the Queens Head.

This is out local pub and we are lucky. The staff are always absolutely lovely and have our drinks on the go as soon as we walk in. We don't go in nearly as often as we should however maybe every 2 months but we are always greeted warmly as if we go in every week. Our son is always treated kindly and well looked after, loves watching the pool if there's a game on.The food is lovely always. And the homemade cheesecake is divine! If you are passing through St Stephen pop in for a drink or a meal you won't be dissatisfied. Well done Paula and team

Having heard and read many good things about the food at the Queens Head we decided to have an evening meal at our local. It is no wonder it was busy. My mixed grill was cooked exactly as I requested, was plenty enough to satisfy my appetite and reasonably priced.

First visit to this pub - it was a bit unnerving to begin with as people at the bar went quiet when we walked in. Only once we had ordered our drinks and seated ourselves in the dining area did they resume their chat! The menu has a good selection and the food was well presented and filling. Staff didn't seem particularly interested or friendly so wont be in a hurry to go back.

Found this delightful upstairs cafe by chance and had some of the best vegetarian food for a long time. We were made very welcome and chose the hummus bowl and roasted veg toasted sandwich. Both were excellent and very filling.

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.
