We discovered by accident when we had finished our walk up helsby hill. We only were there for a cold drink this time but we will return to try the food soon. I was blown away by the choices for me being vegan. Can't wait to try the food

8 of us visited today for a little family catch up following the birth of a new little family member. We reserved a table and were greeted so warmly. Nothing too much trouble - food and cakes delicious. We stayed a little later than closing time due to feeding the baby and just generally enjoying ourselves. We were encouraged to take our time and relax. We will definitely go back soon to support this lovely local business.

Decided to visit with Mum because so many wonderful reviews. Unfortunately the reviews seem slightly embellished regarding food here. The soup was awful, watery and tasteless..the Tuna and Sweetcorn sandwich would be better described as mayonnaise and Sweetcorn with a touch of Tuna. This was £9.00 which is basic robbery. O a positive note staff were lovely and friendly and the cakes looked nice. Very disappointed.

Called in as we were passing through Helsby. Lovely surroundings as it is also a shop selling an eclectic range of household and paper goods. We had drinks and snacks, the drinks were a reasonable price but I think the lighter bites such as toast etc are a little on the expensive side but the meals were more reasonable priced. The homemade cakes looked really nice though we only bought one of the homemade biscuits. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Went for coffee and a light lunch, we ordered soup and a toastie. The toastie was lovely but the soup had no flavour and it was like water. The shortbread was delicious and we are looking forward to our cake later tonight. Overall, was good but the soup needed to be thicker and have more flavour with a more thicker chunk of bread instead of slices like toast.

We have just discovered a little gem of a tea room when driving through Helsby. Welcoming staff in a large and airy tea room with many treasures on sale for purchase too. Yummy crumpets with heaps of cheddar and a frothy cappuccino filled the spot after a busy morning with no time for lunch. On my way again refreshed and the owner of a lovely new fabric mask and map of the area. Definitely recommend.

I booked afternoon tea for my mum and mum in law as a belated Mother’s Day treat. It was delicious and excellent value. My daughter who is 6 came and she got her own afternoon tea for £10 which in all honesty was the same amount as an adult portion. We all got a stand each filled with delicious sandwiches, cakes and scone. We had to take a doggy bag home as couldn’t have possibly eaten everything but was excellent quality at £15 each. Staff were so friendly, thank you for a lovely afternoon we will def be back

Cosy surroundings, cushions on the chairs, friendly staff, there's a nice buzz in the place. It doesn't advertise itself as vegetarian but there was no meat on the menu, excellent! Good choice of hot dishes, sandwiches soup and cakes, all presented very nicely and very tasty. They also sell some great gifts, many of them made locally, hand-made cards and a handful of antiques. I come to the tearoom at least once a week to meet my friend for coffee. It’s a real highlight in a busy working week for us and a chance to catch up in lovely surroundings. The cafe is so attractive inside with lots of crafts and collectibles for sale and the food and drinks available are excellent. Many if not all of the cakes are made locally. The owner and staff are very friendly and welcoming. The cafe is popular with all ages from parents with new babies to the elderly. We are so lucky to have this place in our village. The owner and staff make real contributions to the community too with the cafe being one of the focal points of village celebrations. It has recently gained a licence for alcohol and is open some evenings too.

My daughter and I pre booked afternoon tea as I am wheat intolerant so eat gluten free. Both teas were amazing. Eight triangle sandwiches each, a lovely choice of light tasty cakes plus scones on both. The paninis were excellent with a generous salad and nice chutneys. The disappointment came from the latte. They charge £2.50 for what tastes like instant coffee with milk. It was so bad couldn't get past the first sip. The area in the back also seemed neglected as the table we sat at had a completely dead plant hiding under the menu covered in green flies, so much so that they were on the table and on the salt and pepper shakers. Basically good food, poor drinks, wouldn't eat here again.

A beautiful, bright and light Tea Room making you feel relaxed and comfortable. The food is delicious and the hot chocolate helps to warm you up, especially on them cold bitter days. The cakes are yummy too and believe they are homemade adding a warm atmosphere. There are some items for sale around the shop and are very beautiful and unique. My sister and myself enjoy the atmosphere and make time to chat and enjoy the atmosphere.

I go often to this tea room for some lovely me time, i think the owners have got it so right to the decor , lovely China and the cakes are delicious too, lots of choice, why I especially go there is the magazines on offer to read, I've also purchased a few items for the home , staff are friendly too, I would definitely recommend this tea room to anyone

Delightful cafe with delicious food and fantastic cakes. Also has a great selection of local crafts such as pictures, handbags and cards to browse and purchase. What more could a girl ask for going to a cafe and having a delicious cake and coming away with a handbag as well! On a good bus route to frodsham where we were staying.

Warmly greeted by the lady proprietress. Décor and ambience is a typical English tea shop with all kinds of fancy goods on sale.We had the tomato and basil soup which was delicious. This was followed by warm Panini's which were also excellent. Would recommend this place most heartily

I hired this beautiful tea room for my daughter's birthday. We had an Alice in Wonderland theme. The owner and her staff were wonderful on the day and in the planning of it all. The tea room looked as gorgeous as ever. The food and the service was exceptional. The price was also very reasonable. We had an Alice entertainer come to tea with my daughter and 12 of her friends, my brother was the Mad Hatter and I was the Queen of Hearts, all of this was welcomed by the lovely manager. This is such a special little place to visit for afternoon tea or coffee and was simply superb as a venue for a birthday tea party. Thank you so so much. Thrilled to bits.

I visited for the first time with some friends on Saturday lunchtime. The place is full of vintage trinkets, pottery and cards. I liked that they mix and match the plates, cups and cutlery. Me and party had paninis which came with salads and chutneys and that was followed by cakes. The food was good quality and served in a very atmospheric place. The sense of community is evident and makes the place special. Will definitely return!

I visited this lovely little cafe with a friend for lunch. We both had the goats cheese tartlet with a side salad, and a cup of tea on the side. The set up is very relaxing, and what I like is that the tables aren't too close to each other. There are lots of little trinkets and crafty wares on sale too, dotted around the room. The cakes looked amazing (including gluten free options) - shame we were stuffed so couldn't partake. Thank you, JTO Vintage for a lovely afternoon!

I am staying at BW for work and booked dinner at Hilltops on my first night. I was initially nervous that there didn't appear to be anything suitable for vegans on the menu, but I double checked with the receptionist, who was very helpful and communicated my request to the restaurant. This was a short-notice request, so I was not expecting much, but the chefs went above and beyond. The tofu & veg curry was really tasty, and the choc fudge cake was delicious. I couldn't eat it all in one sitting, but the team prepared the leftovers for me to take to my room and eat later. Thank you to the talented kitchen team and wonderful front of house team at Hilltops!

We were visiting the Anderton Boat Lift which is just 10 minutes down the towpath from The Moorings. As the coffee shop there was quite full after the boat trip we decided to try somewhere else close by. The Moorings is a little gem of a place, run by chefs, so expect hotel like presentation of excellent food, which is worth waiting for. This is a totally different dining experience from the usual canal side cafe. Dogs are allowed inside on the hard floor area, but we sat outside with ours as it was a beautiful day and we could admire the canal boats in the marina.
