We chose this pub for a quiet meal as it was walking distance from where we were staying and had good reviews This pub did not disappoint it had a very friendly atmosphere, the staff were all polite and the food was amazing and good value for money It had a very cosy atmosphere with cute little private nooks for seating areas which I really liked as it added some privacy I would definitely recommend eating here

Came to Henry Potts for Sunday lunch with family after trying most of the other establishments around Chester over the last 10 years and it did not disappoint, the beef was cooked to perfection and the portion sizes were great, complete with pickled red cabbage, cheesey leeks, spot on roasties and a huge Yorkshire pudding, service from Sean and Dom was second to none, nothing was too much to sort and we left feeling very full and well looked after. I will be spreading word of mouth to friends and family for future occasions! Thank you Henry Potts

Top little Gastropub me and my partner happened upon, really homely and upmarket feel, ale was fantastically fresh, service was very good and attentive yet not intrusive. Small plates were banging. Will be back soon.

This has quickly become my favourite pub in Chester, I’d popped in once or twice in the past but since new management has taken over this is now my favourite pub in Chester. nothing better than having an amazing roast dinner and then a matter sat at the bar afterwards talking about their beers and unreal whisky selection, can’t wait to visit again on Sunday for another roast! Cheers team!

Was at a loose end one lunchtime and popped in for a sandwich. Ended up having the lunchtime offer (two courses, I chose buffalo wings followed by fish and chips) and a pint and the fish and chips in particular were excellent. Ended up chatting bourbon with the guy that’s the new GM and was made to feel very welcome, will definitely be going back.

Came in for a meal with my partner, there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere, excellent food and a great selection of beers and wine. The service was second to none, all the staff were incredibly attentive, friendly and nothing was too much trouble! We will certainly be back again soon

Have been here for a few sunday roasts and i feel like it's the best one in chester, top that with great service and a fantastic selection of whisky all built into a cozy and comfortable decor, no where else i enjoy more on my visits to chester

Really good classic pub food and a good choice of ales in a friendly atmosphere. It's slightly off Chester center but worth the few minutes walk The photo is the haddock and chips...with salt and vinegar onion rings..... was exceptional. Busy at 19:00 on a wet and cold Thursday says it all. Back again photo added is steak and ale pie...another great classic the chef has done really well...even the red cabbage is amazing.

Excellent night out. Cosy country pub style but in Chester city centre. Staff are friendly and helpful, food is excellent, particularly the roast dinners on Sunday. Good beer selection too.

The Henry Potts is a cracking little bar slightly off the beaten track of Chester city centre. 5 cask ales available, all very good quality. Friendly, welcoming service. Lovely quiet pub (I went in on a Friday afternoon and it was nice chilled atmosphere). I didn't try the food but there were a few people eating and they all seemed impressed. Would recommend you try.

I loved everything about this place. I felt cosy, and omg the treacle beef sandwich is divine. I found it fairly affordable considering the quality, too!

Dropped in for a drink with colleagues, never been in before but was a recommended. Great bar with vast selection of drinks, service and atmosphere was excellent. One of the best bar’s I’ve been in for a long while. Didn’t dine but will give it a try on my next visit.

Went here for lunch with friends, the service and the food was great. When it came to dessert though my wife is lactose intolerant and the dessert options were none existent. She could have sorbet and that was all. Seems in this day and age having more than 1 vegan dessert is an absolute must. The staff were friendly at the bar and drinks were good.

Outstanding roast dinner, i had the beef whilst my partner had the chicken. The quality, portioning and taste was superb. The atmosphere was warm with nicely dimmed lighting and ambiance was very cosy but not to dark. The staff were attentive and welcoming, highly recommended.

Great place for a nice meal. The food was good(with the exception of the chicken wings) and the staff were friendly and helpful. We sat in the alcove, and the atmosphere and decor were walm and welcoming. Definitely recommended.

Lovely little country pub right in the city centre. Quieter vibes than other pubs and the perfect place to go for a quiet drink and a beautiful roast dinner. Service was ok. But food was out of this world.

Had a fantastic experience here. Really friendly, attentive staff and pleasant surroundings. The Sunday Roast was honestly one of the best I've ever eaten with deceptively large portions, expertly cooked and seasoned veg and a gravy to die for. Will be returning to sample the non Sunday fare soon but will not hesitate to recommend this place to family and friends. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

This is the best roast dinner I have ever had in a pub. Stout bread was a revelation and the sticky toffee pudding definitely worth the calories! We will absolutely be back.

First time we have come here and first impressions are really positive. Nicely decorated, dated building. Beautiful food, really tasty homemade. Friendly staff. Would highly recommend. Between the four of us we had 1x Black Angus beef burger 2x Chicken, ham and leek pie 1x Mushroom Wellington roast. All were homemade of high quality and really tasty. For pudding we had 1x Creme brulee shortbread 1x Bakewell tart 2x Ice cream Strawberry and vanilla. . All four of us were pleased to have gone there and will go back again in the future.

Beautiful interior with low lighting and cosy private corners to nestle into. It was quiet for a Friday night but there was enough of a buzz to give a lovely atmosphere but still be quiet enough to have a conversation. We just had drinks but the staff were extremely knowledgeable about the drinks they had and were very friendly to boot.

This place is a hidden gem. It might be in the basement of the building but it is bright, airey and inviting. Staff are very friendly and attend to you fast. Make sure to visit here when your next in Chester

We were very disappointed with our meal. Ordered a vegan & meat burger. The vegan burger was very dry & looked as if it had come out of the freezer section along with the fries. Service was good but sadly we won't be returning.

We went in on a Tuesday in the early evening. The pub is quite dark inside but has a traditional look and vibe in an old Georgian building. The bar staff were helpful. I had a pint of the bitter. It was a nice pint. The food was great. I had mussels on toast although it probably has a more exotic name. My wife had a pork rib eye and mash. Tasty fayre. The clientle seemed to be made up of tourists, locals having an after work drink and one or two dog owners. It wasn't 'rocking' as far as atmosphere goes. However, if you want a conversation and good food, this place ideal.

Loved it a gem of a find and very historic. It's close to the race course and next door to our accommodation making it a perfect stop off on the way back.

Traditional yet modern pub/ restaurant with great food, great beer and great staff. An absolute gem. Oh and it's dog friendly too (as long as the dog is friendly/ well behaved).

Hard to judge the atmosphere when we were the only two people in the place for most of our meal. The ownership is the same as The Hare (Farndon), The Swan (Marbury), and The Black Bear (Whitchurch). What I can say is that the meals were great. As I would expect. A nice range of beers (and wine) on tap

Great ambience inside. A good option for a romantic date with well designed spaces. I ate Korean chicken burger. It wasn’t the best burger I’ve eaten but was still good. Kind waiters.

This place was a perfect place to take my partner for a date night , we drove from Nantwich, everyone was coming out from the races in an amazing mood so the atmosphere was also amazing. John,Tracy and another young lady in a blue chequered shirt couldn’t of been more hospitable, always checking on us for food, drinks etc, and the Argentinian Malbec was awesome, we were treated like royalty ,the food was unbelievable, massive compliments to the chef and all the kitchen staff too!, I’ll recommend to anyone! You guys smashed it 👊

Henry Potts was absolutely brilliant. We had dinner here on our first night in town and it did not disappoint. The scotch egg and honey mustard sausages were delicious. We ordered the ribeye, the pork ribeye, and the chicken ham hock pie for the mains. Each one was cooked properly and the flavours impressed. For dessert we tried the sticky toffee pudding and the rhubarb bakewell, which were perfectly lovely. Service spot on and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. It has eclectic touches wherever you look letting you settle in and enjoy your meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Pre Christmas Turkey Dinner and a recent family meal. Lovely ambience and very welcoming. My son loved his Turkey Dinner ( I had a Whiskey Haggis starter …. Scrumptious indeed) Beef feather blade was delightful too. And the big plus … great for taking the pooch in for a cheeky beer on a weekend stroll !

Good selection of ales and wine. Nice ambience and only tried the small plates, but each was delicious. Especially liked the Polenta chips and gorgonzola dip.

Beautifully restored pubs with nooks and crannies. Candles all over the pub during the day so can only imagine how atmospheric it would be after dark. Lovely cuppa (although pricey includes a large shortbread which was delish). Doesn't mention on the menu and for people with dietary requirements or on a tighter budget it may be worth offering a cuppa without the biscuit.
