elephant coffee in Cheshire West and Chester

Very noisy couldn’t hear yourself think never mind talk…. Ordered a 13” pizza and small garlic bread and two coffee chai latti The pizza was rubbish and had hardly any pepperoni on it… The garlic bread was tasteless hard and very dry… This all cost £30!!! What a complete rip off Won’t be going back!!

Awful experience which is a shame as food was fine! Online order for delivery - realising a core allergy error I called immediately and advised no cheese on one pizza - I was advised shouldn’t be a problem and would be amended. Food arrived with Cheese on both pizzas - I called immediately and spoke to the guy I originally spoke to and he passed me onto Mark Preston the operations manager in the kitchen - who advised the food had already been prepped when I called so no change. Mark did not apologise at any point instead being defensive and particularly not customer focussed. I suggested that had they told me I would have paid extra for the correct pizza but instead no contact or advice - this could have been a medical issue. I asked to speak to the manager - Mark advised me that was him … I then asked for a call tomorrow from a manager and again he suggested that call would come to him - he said he doubted anyone would call. Terrible experience let down by a member of staff and ineffective communication.

Always a good place for food and coffee, quick service.

Parkgate, although a picturesque place to visit, has developed in recent years to a place frequented by people with designer dogs and botox injections. If your thing is waterproofs, wellies, all weathers and filthy full-sized dogs, then you won't find many places willing to give you indoor refuge in exchange for decent coffee and food. I was therefore delighted to give this place a try on a chance visit and leave with an alternative view of a place I've been coming to since I was a wee Wirral lad. 

The Elephant serves great coffee, cakes and snacks for dog walkers in a relaxed atmosphere. It's an essential stop if you've got a vintage dog or an unfit cousin who needs a rest half way through a walk on the section of the Wirral Way which runs behind the village. It actually allows dogs inside, despite the signage which initially leads one to believe its a courtyard-only policy. 

I've been four times this summer and as an Austrian body-builder once said, "I'lI be back!" 

It's certainly put Parkgate back on my map for dog walks and I look forward to visiting it in the winter months when the designer dogs are attending to their social media followers.

The best Americano today I've had in a long time served today 25/6/24 by a friendly and attentive Barista .(such a nice guy ) . A delicious Chocolate Tffin too and very reasonable prices . Lovely views across to Wales as a bonus >

Was walking in the area and decided to pop in for lunch, weather was nice so we sat outside overlooking the Dee Estuary, we both had paninis and a cup of tea, decent food and not bad value for £15, staff really nice.

Excellent service, great atmosphere

The atmosphere is lovely and staff were very friendly. Cocktail menu and happy hour is not up to date online, it's different to the one in the coffee shop. They don't do margaritas which they advertise online they do. Pornostar Martini cocktail was tasty and served the way is supposed to. Candy Pants and Victoria Secret cocktails could be improved. They're both served on an enormous gin glass. They have same flavour despite one is vodka and one is gin based, very similar ingredients and too sweet.

Great for coffee and cake or lunch during the day then beers, cocktails and bar snacks during the evening. More like the Parkgate venue than the original Neston coffee shop.

Great place to stop, with a great atmosphere and really friendly staff. Despite having been busy, they were happy to still offer us a good selection of food, and the coffee was great too. Will be back again soon!

We visit Parkgate with the dog frequently and always call in here for a hot drink. Good quality and fairly priced. Has a chilled out vibe and good loyalty scheme. Would recommend to anyone visiting Parkgate.

Discovered Elephant while visiting the UK. Was in Neston and wanted to grab some breakfast. Ended up ordering a sourdough bacon roll and a scone. The roll was amazing! Quite simple, but the sourdough roll was so delicious. The scone was quite good too. Will try and return before I head back home.

Visited for first time and wow and wow - what a view and great for people watching. We went on a warm early evening mid week. Amazing view across to the Welsh mountains and river Dee. Friendly service. Everywhere very clean. Already looking forward to going back again.

So if you know Parkgate, you’ll know it’s famous for ice cream. I went with my daughter this week, we walked from Willaston on the Wirral Way (would recommend, about 6k each way). My daughter got an ice cream and then we went to Elephant so I could grab a coffee, we had the dog with us. Expecting to sit in the courtyard due to having the dog and a child with an ice cream with me, I was told that we could not get a coffee and drink it in the courtyard because of the ice cream, purchased from another place (the place that made Parkgate famous). Can’t see how this mattered but while Elephant has the monopoly on coffee right now in Parkgate, they need to do very little to look after their customers, might not always be the case though.

Cycled over with my lad from north wales. Couldn’t fault it to be fair. Glanced at some of the recent reviews and on this occasion disagreed with what was written. Place was busy and buzzing…..food was hot and tasty….coffee was hot and strong. The 2 members of staff I dealt with both seemed polite and happy. Will certainly be coming here again. Highly recommend sausage snd cheese bagel!

Ok for drinks only, but don’t order pizza. We went a few months back at the weekend. Ordered pizzas and bought drinks. Waited for around 40 mins then asked where they were. Appeared to have forgotten order and they arrived 10 mins later undercooked. Well, mistakes can be made, so went back a few weeks later. Again, waited for around 40 mins and no sign of pizzas. Asked and were told that they’ve been busy with Just Eat orders. Pizzas came about 15 mins later. Not best pleased, as they seem to prioritise deliveries over customers. Well, we thought we’d give it one last go mid-week and went on a Thursday. Exactly the same as our previous experience, with busy with deliveries excuse. An hour from ordering to receiving food is not acceptable. I’ve considered just buying drinks and ordering a Just Eat delivery to the place. Probably get it in 15 mins! In reality, we won’t be going back. Shame, as pizzas are nice.

Came here for a quick bite to eat at lunchtime today (Wednesday) with my adult sons we and noticed that not one single staff member greeted us or acted in a friendly manner. The young guy who served us seemed really miserable and just looked like all he wanted to do was to show off his pouting abilities! The food was just okay, nothing to write home about but not awful. The tea seemed very weak even after 5 minutes of brewing time. I doubt we would use this place again. By contrast, we walked along to the little ice cream shop further along the road (not Nicholls) and the lady there couldn't have been nicer! She chatted to all of us whilst serving us with a smile. Elephant staff could learn a thing or two from visiting there!!

I had been recommend by a friend so after a stroll we decided to give it a go. To say it was an experience would be an understatement- I would say the service was Poor but for it to be poor there has to be service. Waited nearly 40 minutes for drinks - asked a member of staff three times to no avail. When they were ready they were delivered to the wrong table twice. Saw a number of people leave due to waiting - people’s food delivered to wrong tables, even when the people sat at the table hadn’t ordered food. Staff where just not interested in service - not interested in customers. I accept it was busy - which in this day and in this age this is good but carrying on like this then it won’t be. No apology for the wait - no recognition or concern for customers who had paid good money only to be ignored. Utter chaos a shame really as the coffee was Good - been better if it was hot. But as I said they coffee did more miles than anyone I would avoid if more than half full

10/10 - for the great tasting coffee 1/10 - for the extremely slow service - queueing for 5 minutes to order, then from the point of ordering, waiting a good 20 minutes for two coffees to arrive at the table, then waiting a further 10 minutes for a tea-cake and toast to arrive at the table from servers with an attitude. Great place but abysmal service.

This has become a regular meeting place with friends and also for a coffee break when out walking the dog. I sometimes have a bad reaction to coffee (not the fault of the place serving it) so am a bit wary and often plump for tea to be on the safe side. On my last visit, I took a gamble and not only was my cappuccino delicious but no tummy bloating and nausea afterwards. So pleased to have found a place who uses a bean that agrees with me :)

Let’s be clear, I love Elephant at Parkgate. Great bagels for breakfast, lovely coffee and a chilled cafe that turns into more of a lounge in the evening, it’s great…..however… We went with the kids on Friday for some pizza and drinks and could not believe the price on the menu! £11.50-£14.50 for a 12 inch pizza? Crazy prices for what arrives in a takeaway box. For a family with drinks that’s £65-£70 for pizza, not worth it even if it’s a great pizza. We didn’t stay sadly and will use the cafe more for drinks in the future.

The last few times we have visited The Elephant we have been unable to get a table due to a number of people taking up a whole table for just one person and a laptop. These people stay a long time, often buying just one drink. I totally get it that this establishment is a warm and friendly environment and WFH is on the rise but this just can't be good business.While I am not sure how the management could deal with this, if I was the owner I would sure be trying to think of a way!

Took Mum for a coffee. We both had sausage on toast with a latte, followed by warm banana cake with butter... LOVELY. Friendly staff. Great service. warm quiet and comfy... see you again soon.

Great place for coffee and cake

Visited this place 30th October 22 during a day visit to Parkgate for some coffee and lunch. We got here at about 11.20am and it was absolutely heaving, see picture uploaded. Luckily my gf was able to get a table while i waited in the queue for at least 20 minutes before being served. When i eventually got served i was informed that the bacon bagel and sausage bagels had sold out so then i had to make a third choice option which was the chipotle chicken bagel. Gf had the pastrami bagel and we ordered a flat white and a mint tea. After ordering when i joined my gf at our table the wait for the drinks was at least another 10 minutes. Staff where friendly and to be fair where working but there simply are not enough staff. My bagel i have to admit was painfully average, i think it had been left on the griddle plate far too long and my gf's bagel on the other hand was still cold in the centre and the cheese wasn't melted but we chose not to complain and press on. The hot drinks where fine, i have no complaints there. Such a shame really as the place is really inviting and nice. What i didn't like however was when we went to exit the venue. The front door to which we had entered we found to be locked and a red chair had been placed in front of it. No sign had been placed on the door informing us to use an alternative exit. We assumed that the place was closing so we tried to let our self out however some quite snooty and older patrons near to the door informed us that the door was "closed and locked for a reason" and that the door was closed and locked because the wind outside was causing the door to open and let in a draft which was causing a chill to the nesh older patrons near the door. I informed one of the patrons that ideally there should be a door closer on the door if this is an issue but not wanting to cause argument me and my gf exited the venue from the rear of the establishment out through the rear courtyard. Now i am assuming that the older patrons complained to the staff about the draft so staff have probably taken it upon themselves to lock the door and put a chair in front of it for peace however for someone who works in Compliance i know its against fire regulations to block/lock a designated fire exit from the property and this would warrant enforcement action from the local fire brigade if a visit took place. If there is an issue with the cold air coming in then a simple door close or a handle on the door would suffice to keep the door closed. Locking off a fire door and practically barricading it with a chair is a huge no no. Sort it out management.

About an hour ago I purchased a latte from this establishment. They were very busy and I had to wait about 5/6 minutes. I returned to my car and then I had my first sip, It was scalding hot ( my mouth is still sore)...

I have visited the Elephant Lounge many, many times and have always enjoyed it. I visited today and had the same good service and excellent quality coffee as usual but was horrified to see two ladies sat at a table with their pet sausage dog...

Lovely brunch, lovely atmosphere

A wonderful little boutique coffee shop on the High Street in Neston. I've never had a bad coffee from here, it's always hot, creamy and just so delicious. The staff are always so friendly and chatty. They have a wide selection of hot drinks, milkshakes, grapes and iced tea too! They do cakes including vegan ones...the vegan banana cake is delicious! You can have lunch here too which is usually either a salad bowl or a bagel. There is one toilet and the tables are pretty tight so maneuvering a buggy in there when it's busy is probably best avoided. They have colouring for kids too and offer 2 kids hot drinks. There's always a stack of newspapers to choose from and the music is relaxing and sends out good vibes. You can also buy bags of their coffee to take home with you too. Overall, a gem of a place that's well worth a visit.

Although their friendliness the latest selection of food and the size of drinks are lacking there usual umph I had the salmon bagel and a caramel rolo milkshake , was not impressed by how they've kept the price the same and decreased the amount of drink . Sorry but really not happy about this . I dont often like criticising a local buisness .

Lovely breakfast and coffee! Very reasonably priced too. Only small downside was there is only one till so when it’s busy it can be quite a wait to be served, but if you time your queueing and ordering right then it’s a great little cafe....

I’m a huge advocate and fan of Elephant and have been visiting since it opened. In recent months, though, the rear courtyard seems to have really significantly become a default ‘smoking area’. When it’s been busy inside I’ve chosen to sit outside with friends because...

Went to Elephant for a treat on Halloween afternoon. As always, they exceeded our expectations!! Wonderful food, wonderful drinks, fantastic atmosphere and brilliant, attentive friendly staff. I can highly recommend a visit.

Ventilation is poor despite expeller. No fresh air coming hence poor oxygen.

When we visit this beautiful corner of Cheshire we always try to pop in here. Coffee second to none. The cakes are pretty good too! A little piece of heaven with views of mountains of Wales. Heaven :) can't wait to return.

We ordered pizza takeaway. We got two vegan pizzas and they were both tasty. My only thoughts on room to improve is to put vegan cheese on the vegan pizzas. All the other pizzas have cheese on, I don't see why they can't put it...
