Used to be a favourite stop, but really disappointed this week to find that the menu of good, fresh food (what else, for a farm shop?) had been pared back to pasties, filled croissants and sausage rolls and the like. Gone were the soups & sandwiches. No vegan options.

Biggest smiles and friendly welcome as soon we arrived at the cafe and asked if we could sit at an open table on the terrace to absorb the sunshine and breathe the fresh air whilst appreciating the Cotswold countryside view. A reasonably priced menu with fresh farm produce options. Three of us selected the Frittata ( cheese and mushroom) topped with a selection of baby leaves which was delicious, although being rich. Another tried the quiche of the day; generous portion of quiche with lots of baby potatoes and a well presented salad, all filled with flavour. The moist, pleasing sized slice of freshly baked coffee cake to finish with a variety of hot drinks was really yummy too! Gluten free cake options available too. Excellent, friendly service without being rushed at all despite the cafe closing. Clean toilets well stocked with hand soap and paper towels are always appreciated, as they seem to be a rare find. Baby change station combined with a wheelchair access toilet was noted. 25 minutes pretty drive from Stratford upon Avon into the Cotswolds on a very narrow road leads to now, one of our favourite spots: Vegetable Matters. Highly recommended for hearty healthy food and cakes for that sense of further euphoria 😊

Unfortunately due to the flooding we could not go to the Cheltenham Races so decided to have Brunch at Vegetable Matters. It was a very good substitute. As always the service was excellent and only surpassed by the quality of the food. Between us we had a Full English, Creamy Mushrooms (very generous portion) Smoked Salmon and Cheese Toastie, the Soup of the Day Sausage and Egg Bap and Bacon, brie and Cranberry Toasties. Everyone was very complimentary about each of their choices and as always thre food was served quickly and well presented, there is no ownder this is such a popular cafe. We were met with the usual friendliness and shown to our table. We were not rushed to order. Our food was very good and dairy free provided. My 3 year old grandson saw my smoked salmon on scrambled egg and decided he would like some. Despite the cafe being full, the staff immediately provided him with a dairy free scrambled egg in a child friendly bowl and cutlery. After lunch my daughter bought her vegetables( all locally grown) while the 3 year old was kept amused on the tractor outside. My daughter bought potatoes and was interested to read the information on the walls about the different varieties. The veg were carried to the car. for us.

Met a friend for a light lunch at 12, and the car park was heaving! Most tables inside had reserved signs on them. Goodness, it’s a little cafe in the middle of nowhere...., who would think you’d need to book. Anyway, we did get seats at a table that wasn’t booked till 1.30. They always have a soup of the day, a quiche of the day, and a frittata. It was also fish Friday, for fish and chips, and a few other specials, plus their usual sandwiches. Had the frittata.....beetroot and goats cheese, and it was very tasty. The cakes looked gorgeous, but we did manage not to get tempted. The ladies who run this cafe are always very friendly and give service with a smile. On top of that, their farmshop business provides fantastic fresh vegetables and fruit, and many other deli and butchery items. If it’s warm enough, the terrace outside has beautiful views over the cotswold countryside.

We are lucky enough to live close enough to Vegetable Matters so that it is handy enough to pop in to the café for a coffee, lunch or an afternoon tea, and to visit the shop to purchase some great produce. Our most recent visit meant that we could enjoy a light lunch and partake of some scrummy pancakes on this years Pancake Day, accompanied by our dog George. We would heartily recommend Vegetable Matters café for great service by nice people, and really enjoyable good quality food in a great setting. The added bonus is that as well as being people friendly the pace is also dog friendly, and so George was able to meet various dogs and members of his adoring public in a relaxed environment. The location of Vegetable Matters means that it is a very convenient place for visitors to the Cotswolds, walkers and, if you are so inclined, M.A.M.I.L.s ( Middle Aged Men in Lycra). Fortuitously, this pancake day was mainly “ friendly locals who lunch”. so George wasn’t alarmed by phosphorescent yellow beings.Vegetable Matters is well worth a visit for great produce and friendly service.

Called in for coffee and cake as a number of my friends had said how good it was. It all appeared to be shiny and new, and I gather that it has been opened reasonably recently. Although it wasn't busy, the staff seemed to be too distracted to come and take my order, even though I'd offered to place it at the cash desk when I arrived. The chocolate brownie was tasty enough when it arrived, but rather small. The cappuccino was quite flavoursome, but again small for the price. I would usually expect to pay £5.00 or less for similar Fayre, but this cost £5.65 which I consider excessive, especially for an out of the way village farm shop. The vegetables on sale in the farm shop all looked fresh, but the selection was extremely limited. On leaving, I noticed an EU flag on the entrance sign, which presumably implies that the owners received some form of grant to help with the funding, which to me, indicates much of what is wrong with the EU and why we're leaving.

Vegetable matters is a green grocers and cafe/restaurant. If you are in the area of Ebrington then do visit them. You won’t regret it. Their produce in the greengrocers is second to none. It’s all well presented and very fresh. I do believe they supply other local shops in the North Cotswolds. The proprietor and his family & team are very friendly and chatty. The food offered is a wide range of genuinely home-cooked fayre that far surpasses a lot of the local restaurants. Lunch goes on until 3:30 which is useful and there is a comprehensive menu as well as an imaginative Specials board. I had faggots and can honestly say they are the best I have ever had. Made on the premises I was told. My wife had the vegetable curry which she thought was excellent. We were only going to have a cake and coffee but we’re glad we were tempted with the delicous kitchen odours. Very reasonably priced and we will return soon.

This lunch was our second visit having been for coffee and seen the inviting food. My 90 year old Mother was not sure about the pasta special as it had chilli in it. On hearing this the owner Amanda offered her a 'taste'. Mum subsequently ordered it and really enjoyed it. I went for the Gorgonzola and leek risotto which was out of this world.Being half Italian I know that a good risotto needs care and this certainly had that. The vegetables are very nicely laid out so you choose what and how much you want . If you only want one onion that's what you can have..in an old fashioned brown paper bag, just like the old days You can sit and enjoy the lovely uninterrupted view of the Cotswold hills and maybe even see the workers in the field in front of you gathering the vegetables that will be in the shop tomorrow. There are tractors and old fashioned farm implements on show around and about and I gather the owner, Peter, a tractor enthusiast, is on hand most days welcoming people, and imparting his considerable knowledge of the usual and the more unusual vegetables on sale together with homemade cakes, bread and fruit.I noted a good children's menu . Just been to this charming cafe/farm shop and in spite of it being very busy, we had excellent service and the breakfasts were particularly good. We sat outside in the sunshine to maximise the view. Nice all round experience and local grown asparagus to take home!

We visited today for a drink as we had been recommended. When we arrived in the early afternoon we decided to sit outside and admire the nice view of the countryside. We noticed a couple of tables with used crockery etc. that had not been cleared away. However, we found a clean table and sat there. After around 10 minutes we had not been served, so we wondered if we were supposed to go inside to order. My husband went inside and a lady apologised and said she would come outside to take our order. So we waited, and waited........After 20 minutes we gave up and walked out. My husband also noticed even more of a mess inside with dirty tables and spillages. Never again.

First visit today, we live just a 15 min drive away so hoping to make this a regular stop. Great cafe, a warm welcome, choice of sitting indoors or out, beautiful views across the surrounding countryside. Farmshop produce is wonderfully fresh and good quality, meat/dairy supplied from local suppliers. Also fresh bread supplies delivered whilst we were there. Veg box ordering/delivery service too. Looking forward to a return visit.

This is located just outside Ebrington and on this occasion, it was packed. So packed that there were not any tables left but a space eventually came and my daughter and I were so pleased. We ordered ham sandwiches and lasagne. The sandwiches were good and came with an awesome salad. This place has vegetables nailed. If there is anyway to tempt a toddler to eat veg then this place will find it. My lasagne was delicious. Very cheesy and again surrounded by an amazing salad. Overall the food was spot on. I thought the lasagne was a bit expensive but you are getting good grub. Great choice of cakes and naughty things. Staff were tip top. Friendly and helpful. It’s a lovely setting but a bit out of the way but in my view, it’s worth driving out specifically for a nice lunch and if you’re walking in that direction the. You’d be daft not to stop.....

Lovely rural location in an area which is a bit sparse for Cafes. Lots of parking for cars and bikes. Very comfortable outside seating, plenty more inside, service very quick, attentive and friendly. We were a group of 10 cyclists and everyone enjoyed their various cakes, snacks and drinks. My Coffee particularly good and strong, my bacon roll was tasty with dressed salad relish. Did not have time to browse around the Farm shop properly but fresh produce looked very high quality and beautifully presented and worth a visit in itself.Family run by people who care greatly about what they are doing. We will return!

Vegetable Matters is a farm shop and cafe about a mile outside Ebrington. The shop sells a good range of locally grown produce. About half the space inside is given over to the cafe, where all food is home cooked. On first entering we were warmly welcomed by the friendly owners. We chose macaroni cheese and a bacon+ brie sandwich for lunch. This was served quickly and efficiently. Both meals were nicely presented and tasted as they should. The place has a relaxed, friendly ambiance. It was clean and tidy with plenty of light comming from the picture windows overlooking the countryside. Well worth a visit!

Having lost the excellent Drinkwaters in Chipping Campden I was so pleased that the family had decided to open a shop and café in Ebrington where they have their farm. They sell a good selection of local fresh produce together with fruit etc. brought in. As soon as we walked in we could smell the breakfast and coffee being served at the busy café. We only had a coffee and a round of toast but could see the delicious meals being brought out. We will certainly be returning for lunch! It has a very fresh and modern feel similar to the café at Lapstone which closed down last year. This place is a fantastic asset for Ebrington and Chipping Campden and hope it goes from strength to strength.

I went to Vegetable Matters today, for lunch with my mum - my first trip, and my mum's second trip this week! I recognised the colours straight away, from my 'old' favourite cafe, at the former Lapstone nr Chipping Campden, (which closed nearly a year ago).I understand the chef, also previously at Lapstone, is now at Vegetable Matters too. Fantastic! My mum chose Chilli con carne, as it was so good on her first trip, and I chose the Butternut squash soup with a warm scone - very yummy, and filling!Vegetable Matters is only a few minutes off the main Fosseway, via Stratton on Fosse, or for a 'scenic route' , go via Ebrington, which is a lovely little village, also just up the road from Chipping Campden. The Vegetable shop side, is also worth a visit, as they are freshly picked or dug up, and there is a really good variety, even at this time of year.Definitely going on a return visit soon, hoping to sit out in the sun on the patio, overlooking the fields and valley beyond. I'm told by The owner, Mr Drinkwater, that the first field is a sea of in the Summer!

Had an excellent homemade soup & cheese scone & a Chicken coronation sandwich plus very good coffee. As it's only been opened a short while I think this place can only get better & I look forward to returning for alfresco dining with beautiful views of the surrounding countrysideps Also pleased by the fact there was no piped music

The food is very good with potential to be even better. It's what you would expect, a bit rustic, large portions and fair if a little high prices ( Probably refects area and location pricing)Not quite so sure about the service, it needs improvement but is friendlyThe farm shop side is limited good value for locally produced product less so for salad and bought in stuff.

We called in one Sunday having seen the advertising sign on the road out of Chipping Campden and were delighted with the friendly welcome. The Menu had several tempting dishes but we went for Soup of the Day (local cauliflower) and a Sausage (local) and mustard sandwich. The portions were very generous; the prices very good value. The toilets were spotless - always a good indicator of how a place is run. Worth checking out if visiting the Cotswolds.

My wife and I have visited a few times now and think the cafe and the shop are a brilliant addition to the lovely village of Ebrington. The staff are very friendly, the cakes are lovely (especially the malt loaf), the breakfasts are great quality (and they cater for all tastes and appetites) good value and the view is worth going for alone. The vegetable choice is huge and being locally grown they are really fresh and the prices are very fair. The fact that the place is stacked out with local people days it all really.

We arrived after a cold but enjoyable walk with an extremely muddy dog. We were warmly welcomed and found table where the muddy dog would not make too much of a mess on the floor, and enjoyed some excellent homemade soup, a superb mackerel salad and a dog biscuit! The vegetables and much of the fruit in the farm shop are fresh as they are either grown on the farm or locally, and are fresh and of high quality. . We would highly recommend a visit.

Very average offerings a bit disappointing for a farm shop. Service was friendly but incredibly slow. We were with my 85 year old mother in law who uses a stick and were kept standing for well over five minutes while staff faffed around deciding how they would group 2 tables together! Also obviously using a microwave in kitchen as potatoes were unnaturally hot and quiche which although tasty was floppy and pastry soft . Salad was nice though but staff need to get in gear a bit as service was slow and forgetful.

My partner and I have been meaning to give this place a try ever since we’d heard that it was to open. Well, we finally called in a while ago for a spot of lunch. It might give you a clue if I tell you that we were back again for lunch within a week or so! Food is spot on and from a delightfully clear and not overpopulated menu, backed up by helpful and efficient staff. There’s also the added bonus of being able to buy lovely locally produced veg right there in the same building (when I say local I mean actually in the fields you can see while you’re having your lunch!). The place is situated just outside the lovely Cotswold village of Ebrington so there’s all that to take in, either before or after your lunch. We intend to try their breakfast soon so I’ll be back with our findings on that. Frankly, if it’s up to the standard we’ve experienced so far then it might be a brief review! I suggest you give it a try.

Excellent restaurant in a very beautiful hotel where I celebrated my birthday with a a small group of friends. Last year I also enjoyed an evening meal here with my partner. Ambience, service and food were perfect. Apéritifs in the lounge, well-spaced tables in the restaurant, excellent, polite and friendly staff, delicious food and lovely surroundings. By far the best restaurant I have been to in years.

What a find, a very quintessential English country pub serving local beers as well as a very stocked back shelf and wine cellar. The welcome is warm and very friendly from the staff and locals alike. Not once did we finish our meals and head home, as we started conversations with the locals and fellow guests, that meant for a very social atmosphere. There is a good lunch menu and a very comprehensive evening menu. I promise you will want to come back to try "something else" off the menu, I know we did and we soon realised that we had to pick either starters & main or main & desert due to the larger portions you receive.

We attended a Wedding at Fosse Manor (in their Hyde Barn). The wedding catering was excellent. It is confusing to read the other reviews here as there was no actual restaurant on site that we could see - just the wedding banquet room and adjoining bar. Breakfast however was not good. Pre-cooked under 3 heat lamps and self-service. The tea was very weak even after adding more tea-bags! The breakfast room was styled like a hostel with long trestle tables for lots of guests to sit together, and was extremely noisy. After a night spent in the terrible accommodation here (for which we have written a separate review) we did not enjoy this experience at all. A shame, as the Wedding catering itself was very well done and managed.

A very old fashioned type of tea room. You think you're going into a book shop at first, then go into the main tea room. It all exudes history and quality. Very nice for afternoon tea, the cakes are wonderful and all made on the premises, the brunch was great too. Can't really fault it. Service was quick despite it being very busy. Highly recommended, well worth a visit
