We so enjoyed our first visit here for dinner this evening celebrating John's birthday. Jason and Michelle are the perfect hosts and we really enjoyed chatting with them. Our food was delicious and beautifully complemented by the wine. A lovely extra touch was a birthday card from our hosts and some hand-made gingerbread pieces to take home. We will definitely visit when we are next in the area. Thanks and best wishes from John and Gill.

My wife Linda and I cycled (along lovely bridleways) from Leckhampton to the Old Rectory at Colesbourne. We appreciated the welcoming atmosphere, charming sculpture gardens and delicious, freshly prepared food and drink. The friendly proprietor was very knowledgeable on the local ales and sources of ingredients on the menu. Great value for money too. We hope to return soon.

We booked for Christmas Day and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The food is excellent, very traditional and the service was warm and friendly. The whole experience was great, although it would have been good if the dinner was served more vegetables and side dishes rather than just a plate of food for the price per head. However it’s great to support local businesses and it was clear the quality, thought and effort was taken to provide a great experience. Thank you for making Christmas Day dinner for us!

Lovely little find in the Cotswolds, beautiful home-made food, something I’m extremely fussy about when I eat out. I had the cream of artichoke soup and the trout fish cake topped with crispy cabbage. It was fabulous and my partner had the beef Bourguignon with home-made gnocchi, so tasty and plenty of it. We followed this with a cheeseboard with 6 different cheeses and a port. The service timing was perfect and the fire made it an extremely cosy evening during our little break. I’d love to go back for the Sunday roast one day. I imagine it’s amazing.

Lovely place. Host attentive Food dreadful. Firstly the simplest of baking on a cream tea, the scones were the height of Welsh cakes. Two together were still a flat small scone. Couldn’t be split to put cream and jam on. They had to go on top. They were dry and texture all wrong. Full of air bubbles. Frozen? Should have been kept in kitchen. As tea was supposedly made on site I find it needs saying that the macaroons appeared identical to those from discount supermarket. Colour combo shape and size. No real taste. Other tiny squares of unidentified desserts obviously from factory. Looked good but nothing tasty. Rissoles were factory made. The giveaway one was was hollow, no cheese and potato.filling , just outer coating. Crostini with fish was tough as old boot. Not offered refills on coffees or drinks . No decaff on tea or coffee. Luckily we were able to laugh at it all. However for others I’d say steer away. Spend the money elsewhere and enjoy it.

Our visit to The Old Rectory was quite surreal. Nothing on the website or in other reviews revealed that we would time warp to the Seventies. From the excessive decor with heavy (and worn) drapes, kitsch memorabilia on the walls and a selection of old school spirits by the entrance. This place is more advocaat than martini. The food was a strange feat with both superbly cooked meat and awfully cooked vegetables. We had the pate and plum chutney / prawn cocktail to start. The foundation elements were delightful but both were hidden behind excessive garnish including banana on the cocktail and kiwi fruit on the pate. With our mains (guinea fowl / venison) again the meat was delicious, perfectly cooked. However the mix of vegetables provided was bizarre ranging from cooked beetroot to Brussel sprouts - probably 10 varieties in all, each one significantly overcooked. Meanwhile the two types of potato were undercooked. I appreciate going for range, but I'd rather have a more limited broccolli, carrot and potato selection that's cooked nicely. I feel as though with the range of veg, the chef has no chance of getting each cooked correctly and is likely doing at least a bit of microwaving. Then came desert. The waiter listed out perhaps 10 different options. We went creme brulee and pie with custard. Each nice but the poor chef. Again providing so many options to race about with and not getting each as good as they could have been however pleasant. Feedback: reduce the garnishes, the range of veg and the dessert options to max 4 to improve quality. Decor also needs updating. Service was attentive and friendly which combined with the well cooked meat is what inched this review to a 3 star.

The atmosphere is cosy and no sooner had we settled than we were asked if we would like a drink while we perused the lunch time menu. It is not a long menu but we had difficulty choosing from a range of appetising options. All the food was well cooked and the portions just right for lunch. Spices and herbs had been used to get the most from tender meat without overpowering the meat's flavour. Vegetables were served separately and everything was pipping hot.The next difficult decision was which sweets to choose from. I had a very tasty Bakewell tart and would happily have had seconds.

Además, la sopa se servía con una galleta de loto en el lado y la opción vegetariana no era lo que pedí. Totalmente arruinado el día para nosotros. No volveremos

V. good service. Food OK. If it's raining don't wear high heels as you have to walk across bumpy pebbles etc. Lovely old building.

This lovely double fronted stone building has two dining areas decorated in the style of a comfortable old vicarage. Tables are set beautifully with white napkins and a posy of garden flowers. Diana looks after front of house and is an excellent hostess. Shaun is the excellent chef providing delicious meals with ingredients sourced locally. The list of home made desserts goes on forever! Overall a great and relaxed experience highly recommended

Four of us dined at the rectory this June with somewhat mixed results. Two excellent dishes and two so so. The hostess was terrific and service excellent. The venison and the lamb dishes were both excellent , however the duck was so so. It was explained to us that the duck was precooked in terms of the entire duck was roasted and then pieces of duck served with sauce, so we had fair warning, however the end resultt was not at all to our liking , essentially warmed up duck with a sweet sauce. I'd pass on that one. Else the meal was great and I would recommend the restaurant.

The old recovery was lovely very homely and welcoming. The food was amazing we had the o/d's for starter which was a great array of fruit meat fish and salad. My daughter got to try alsorts I wouldn't normally buy and after her trying new things I can now buy them.

We had quite a large family gathering for a "Significant Birthday" - there were 28 of us so had decided that a pre-ordered finger buffet was probably a good option. We had the 2 front rooms to ourselves and we (just) fitted in! Lovely welcome from the owner and her staff and we were well looked-after throughout our stay. The buffet was plentiful and very tasty, all enjoyed in delightful elegant surroundings. As another reviewer has said recently, it was a bit like visiting a family home. We all loved it. Highly recommended.

I visited with friends at the end of March. Slightly difficult to find and unusual set-up in that it was like having a meal in someone's front room...but I have to say the food was excellent. I would return should I require a more intimate venue, but if you like eating in a restaurant with some other folk around and plenty of atmosphere, this is probably not for you. BUT attention to detail, quality of food and service could not be faulted and the bill was very reasonable.
