Visited here after a trip to the NT squirrel reserve. It's not that easy to find and is not on the main shopping street in Formby, but is next to a car park.Service was swift, and the food excellent and of good value.. Tables were spaced out and the necessary precautions for social distancing were taken.

Visited here on a Saturday afternoon with my boyfriend, it was not particularly busy. We ordered drinks which came quickly. We ordered a baked potato and a panini which were incredibly disappointing. At first the wrong panini arrived and I was assured the correct one would be bought out shortly. However 15 mins later, when my boyfriend had already finished his baked potato I was still waiting. Eventually when it arrived it was just awful, was supposed to be BBQ chicken and mozzarella. It was a few chicken pieces, BBQ sauce spread on one half only and definitely not mozzarella cheese. Whatever cheese it was had an odd texture, was not melted and tasted like cheap cheddar, hardly worth £5.95. I didn't finish it. The potato was not particularly well cooked either. Both meals came with a sad looking salad, a few leaves with a few pieces of pepper and dressing.

Went to the Kitchen after reading reviews of it here & after visiting the squirrel reserve close by. I ordered a cheese & onion omelette & my husband a jacket potato with haloumi & roasted vegetables. Both were delicious & perfectly cooked so we weren't disappointed. They also had salad & coleslaw which were also delicious. Prices are reasonable too. Cheery staff. Only downside was the toilets are upstairs, a bit difficult for me with MS, however it is a small place so not much space downstairs. There's actually a public toilet close by & a small car park.

After walking in the sand dunes at Formby we were advised to visit The Kitchen for a spot of lunch. We just felt like some sandwiches and settled on the tuna on brown bread. When it arrived the sandwiches were nice and chunky and the bread was delicious, quite nutty. There was also some salad and coleslaw to accompany the sandwiches. We also had a nice pot of tea. There is seating inside and outside and also upstairs. The staff were very pleasant and I was particularly impressed with the young girl who was serving who took time to speak to an elderly lady sitting at a table outside. She chatted for quite some time and made her feel very welcome. So much so that I complimented her when the lady had eaten her lunch and left. She was very pleased to receive the compliment but said I just love speaking to them. They are so interesting. How nice. I would certainly recommend a visit to this restaurant

Quick phone call to find out if they did a breakfast menu, a yes so of we headed and looked for the A board to let up know where it was.Lovely smell of coffee when we walked in, quite basic breakfast menu which was ok, so we both went for the full English, only problem being the menu only said eggs, but not how we could have them, I didn't think to ask if I could have scrambled and the young lady didn't ask how I would like them so we both got brought fried, I asked when we paid if there was a choice and there was so we'll know next time to ask.The sausage and bacon were both delicious, really meaty sausage and the bacon thick cut and just the right side of salty, could have done with a few more mushrooms maybe, but that's just me, and the brown seeded toast was delicious, and butter too, yay, not a easy to spread fake one.Only slight quibble is that the tables seem really small, with two cups for coffee and the big plates it was very cramped and the table next door was so close as for the lady felt she could keep joining in our conversation, which she seemed to enjoy, but otherwise a pleasant surprise for breakfast.

After dismissing the usual coffee shop chains we went in search of a more independent cafe to have our morning refreshment on a recent visit to Formby! We were more than happy to discover The Kitchen. We shared a slice of Victoria sandwich and a slice of lemon cake which, my husband claimed, was the best piece of cake he'd ever had (he added 'in a coffee shop' so as not to dismiss my home made cakes as his favourite!!). The cakes were unexpectedly served with a little pot of cream and a coulis which, although perhaps unnecessary as the cakes were delicious on their own, went down a treat! We only had two criticisms - firstly when we walked in one of the waitresses was coughing into her hand in front of me, she went into the back area where I thought she was going to wash her hands but didn't and continued to serve customers (I know there are plenty of things we don't see and therefore don't worry about but when it's right in front of a customer it would be good to show willing!). Also the cappuccino wasn't really a cappuccino, it was a latte with a little bit of foam on top - perhaps a bit of training on making the perfect cappuccino would be useful for the young man who served us?This two little points wouldn't stop me recommending this great little cafe or going back myself.

Would place this somewhere between average and very good if the ratings allowed this. Its quite small, but we were there early and got a seat upstairs. Surroundings are nice and service is fast and efficient - although a bit formal for this kind of venue. Nice coffee and toast. The cooked breakfast was OK but appeared to be grilled rather than fried which didn't really work quite as well as it might. The orange juice is also straight out of a can, which for nearly £2 a glass isn't great. Overall, a good place, but a few tweaks needed to really make it value for money - it ended up costing us nearly £25 for 4 breakfasts and drinks which is a lot even in an affluent place like Formby.

This place is really popular - we arrived about 1.45, thinking we'd miss the rush, but had to give our name and had a table held for us. We went for a wonder around Formby and came back 15 minutes later to find a table waiting for us. The table wasn't perfect, it had low chairs and a low table, not ideal for eating lunch at, and was situated right by the door upstairs, making us feel like we were getting in the way. There was also a draught from the open window. A proper table and chair would be much more comfortable, we noticed another couple trying to eat at the other low table and having some difficulty. We ordered 2 paninis to share half and half, they were very tasty however the bacon and brie one only seemed to have brie in one half. The goats cheese with onion relish was lovely! Served with a small salad garnish and really tasty coleslaw. We then had a scone each, which were some of the nicest scones I've ever had. Lots of the cakes looked really good! Definately a good place for a bite to eat!

Had breakfast on both occasions, first time was ok but second time the sausages had grey bits in as did the bacon, like it was past its best.Sad to say I won't revisit but the service was good.

Arrived a little late in the day.Closes at 4.30. However, we receved good service from friendly staff. Decor and atmosphere was a little underwhelming . But first impressions can be deceptive. The tea , sandwiches are SUPERB!! Far too much for 2 people . They are happy to pop the surplus into a doggy bag.Would definitely return and make sure I am very hungry.Got to be the best value Cream Tea In the UK!

I don't normally take the time to write a review but The Kitchen is well worth a visit for friendly, professional service and excellent quality food. I have been on numerous occasions and the food and service never fail to deliver, from the full English breakfast (the best ever) to yummy panini's, finished off with to die for cakes served with a separate pot of cream. The Kitchen has recently become licensed, so on my last visit on Saturday afternoon, I treated myself to a nice glass of white to accompany my lunch, whilst my partner had a chilled peroni at a reasonable price. Well worth a visit, yummy cake and wine under the one roof, what more can a girl ask for.

While visiting my sister we were looking for somewhere to have lunch with a friend. After looking on trip advisor we decided we would give The Kitchen a go. After taking a while to decide what to have (the menu is all very tempting) we chose a salad. I had peri peri chicken while the others had prawn. It took a little while to arrive but that was because it was all freshly prepared. It was very nice. Then after came the choice of homemade cakes! all of which looked amazing. I went for orange and almond and the others had welch rhubarb cake. We'll to say they were very nice would be doing them an injustice they were amazing. With 3 cokes the whole bill was just under £30, the staff and atmosphere was very friendly. You must give it a go.

For a quick morning snack or lunch, in my opinion there is no better place in Formby. Having now tried most of the lunch menu over recent months, I have never been disappointed. The service and friendly staff are a bonus.

This is our 2nd visit for Sunday lunch. The food was really good. However the service was very slow this time. We waited an hour for our main after having our starter. We were also sat next to the door. Which on a very cold day in December was not ideal. Every time the door opened there was a cold blast. We were a table of 5 the previous visit it was just 2 of us. So not sure if this is the reason the food took so long. As the Kitchen only looks small.

This was my husband and i first visit to Cheshire Lines. all the staff were so friendly . As some of my husbands family worked on the cheshire railways he enjoyed looking round all pictures on with walls. We are staying in southport for Christmas (2023) and can not wait to return on christmas day for our evening meal.

Kym and team do exactly what it says on the tin. Good flavour coffee, at a decent temperature, delicious home made type cakes/traybakes. Very efficient service. No hesitation in recommending.
