A lovely Sunday lunch for Mothers day.
We've eaten here a few times before, the Sunday sharing platter is excellent, and our waiter Harry went out of his way to look after my 98 year old pescatarian mother. She thoroughly enjoyed the Sea Bass!
The best Indian meal we’ve ever had. The restaurant was super clean and it felt like a really comfortable setting. The staff were all fabulous too. We will definitely be going back very soon.
This was probably the best meal we’ve ever had and we eat out a lot. The restaurant itself is lovely, such a great vibe and beautiful decor, the service is incredible and we really enjoyed getting to talk to Paulo, the owner and chef. We had the tasting menu - my husband had the meat version, and I had the vegan version. And it was absolutely delicious. Every. Last. Bit. We’re still thinking about the experience now and will definitely be back as often as we can.
My partner and I stopped off at this cafe for lunch when arriving in Southport. On the car journey there, I looked at places for lunch and Hideaway came up in the recommendations. We both ordered a panini - the mozarella, sweet chill and chicken for me and a tuna mayo one for my partner. The paninis were a generous size and came with salad on the side. We both ordered a drink with this - soft drink and an americano. The total came to just over £20 which we didn’t think was too bad considering the size and quality of the food. I would certainly recommend this place for a lunch stop but also if you’re looking for something more fulfilling as the menu offers a rang of larger meals including a breakfast menu.

Genuinely there is no place in Liverpool that is value for money more than this restaurant. Every single meal I have had here is 10/10. Would and do recommend to anyone!
As always - amazing food , great staff. Omelettes never skimp on fillings and full
English a proper classic with delicious toast. Quick and efficient and proper family atmosphere. Personality in abundance and a genuine local run by local people.
Another lovely visit. We both had one of the days specials. Pork, stuffing, pear chutney sandwiches with salad and crisps. Absolutely delicious with a great coffee as well. The staff are friendly, efficient and we so look forward to our visits.
Food was fantastic, good value for money. Staff are so friendly and helpful. The chef is ths best in Crosby and the sunday roast is a must. You must visit.
Just stopped just for a drink on a Sunday afternoon, however, the food coming out looked amazing so decided to have lunch.
We both ordered the roast beef Sunday lunch which was so delicious. I had a Porn Star Martini too which was one of the best I’ve ever had.
The atmosphere was really lovely too along with very friendly, engaging staff.
We will certainly be going back.
Great service very attentive, food was superb highly recommend 👌🏾 we both had thr NY pastrami sandwich.. we will definitely be going back! can't wait too try some of the other items on the menu
I often stay in Southport as I lived there for 7 years. I arrived last night for 1 weeks stay and searched for English breakfast – to find the Whistle stop café, which I had not been to before. So I went there this morning for the English breakfast. It lived up to the reviews on Trip advisor – quality ingredients especially the sausages, black pud and bacon. The latte coffee was so good that I had 2 glasses of it. The price of this quality breakfast was very reasonable by todays standards. I will be going back there for the English breakfast and Latte coffee before I leave Southport.
Went here for the first time today . Lovely interiors . Very cosy . Ample dinner menu or afternoon teas . Lots of homemade cakes to choose from . The nice atmosphere and the delightful crockery and cutlery make it a lovely dining experience
Tasty food but awful service.
Such a disappointment. This place has been brilliant in the past but while the food is still lovely the place is let down by the service. It’s totally chaotic. There doesn’t appear to be any organisation up front. Firstly they were completely overbooked. They squeezed 11 of us onto a table for 6 for the first 20 minutes. But at least we got a table. A few people turned up after us with reservations but basically had to leave because there was no space.
It only went downhill from there. Drinks came out one at a time with several reminders that we were missing some. Bizarrely they then chose to serve all the adults food first before the kids meals with the kids just getting restless and hungry. At least the food was tasty.
Finally I would just not bother ordering dessert if you do go. 20 minutes to get someone’s attention to order and then at least 25 more minutes to get the kids bowls of ice cream out (which we were charged full price for when they should’ve been included in the kids meal price). Our waitress was friendly throughout but clearly overwhelmed. We tried to flag her down several times to ask for an update as the little ones were now getting beyond bored and very tired. She was busying herself on the opposite side of the quite small restaurant and appeared to be purposely not looking over at us as I think she was just embarrassed by how long things were taking. Multiple other staff just faffing near the tills and no one even trying to clear our table from the main course or update us on our order. The lack of communication just added to our poor experience.
It’s such a shame for a previously great place. I’ve heard from other people who have found the service similar when they went. Someone told me they waited 1 hour for their desserts and bill when they went and again saw the staff turning away multiple people looking for a table while they sat waiting. They must not want people’s business. Certainly for my party the tasty food just isn’t worth the sheer frustration of the service and we won’t be back.
