We arrived early so had a drink at the bar first then we were shown to our table. Wasn't sure what to order so chose the steak, lamb and chicken sharing board - I especially have a big appetite. It was gorgeous and we couldn’t manage the chicken so asked for a doggy bag (for me) to take home for which they obliged. Our server was lovely and very attentive but I have forgotten her name (young, dark hair, plaits). Thank you
Went with extended family….. great selection of dishes and the food was fantastic.
Best Curry in Southport…. Service is always fantastic. Will be going again very soon.
This was probably the best meal we’ve ever had and we eat out a lot. The restaurant itself is lovely, such a great vibe and beautiful decor, the service is incredible and we really enjoyed getting to talk to Paulo, the owner and chef. We had the tasting menu - my husband had the meat version, and I had the vegan version. And it was absolutely delicious. Every. Last. Bit. We’re still thinking about the experience now and will definitely be back as often as we can.
My partner and I stopped off at this cafe for lunch when arriving in Southport. On the car journey there, I looked at places for lunch and Hideaway came up in the recommendations. We both ordered a panini - the mozarella, sweet chill and chicken for me and a tuna mayo one for my partner. The paninis were a generous size and came with salad on the side. We both ordered a drink with this - soft drink and an americano. The total came to just over £20 which we didn’t think was too bad considering the size and quality of the food. I would certainly recommend this place for a lunch stop but also if you’re looking for something more fulfilling as the menu offers a rang of larger meals including a breakfast menu.

Genuinely there is no place in Liverpool that is value for money more than this restaurant. Every single meal I have had here is 10/10. Would and do recommend to anyone!
My friend and I have been going out to lunch once a week for about a year in and around Southport/Birkdale/Ormskirk/Burscough. This got the vote as our favourite from both of us.
There is no reservation system available so we turned up at lunchtime. It was busy but we got seated quickly. Our drinks came but then we had about a half hour wait for our food. I didn't mind so much but we had to go out and feed the parking meter, we know for next time to just book longer, it is honestly worth the wait.
I had the chicken caesar salad the first time, my friend had eggs benedict. Its so refreshing to have something different on offer for lunch.
There is a good menu but there are also specials which are very tempting.
The salad I had was enormous with lots of tasty chicken and the croutons were to die for. I struggled to get through it as it was a large bowl of food, but so tasty.
The waiting staff are friendly and the chef is a genius. Will be seeing you again for lunch very soon.
Another lovely visit. We both had one of the days specials. Pork, stuffing, pear chutney sandwiches with salad and crisps. Absolutely delicious with a great coffee as well. The staff are friendly, efficient and we so look forward to our visits.
We came here after we heard such good reviews!
Safe to say they were right!
Staff brilliant- live music, fab atmosphere!
Great little place!
Only wish I lived closer to go more often
❤️
Just stopped just for a drink on a Sunday afternoon, however, the food coming out looked amazing so decided to have lunch.
We both ordered the roast beef Sunday lunch which was so delicious. I had a Porn Star Martini too which was one of the best I’ve ever had.
The atmosphere was really lovely too along with very friendly, engaging staff.
We will certainly be going back.
Great service very attentive, food was superb highly recommend 👌🏾 we both had thr NY pastrami sandwich.. we will definitely be going back! can't wait too try some of the other items on the menu
I often stay in Southport as I lived there for 7 years. I arrived last night for 1 weeks stay and searched for English breakfast – to find the Whistle stop café, which I had not been to before. So I went there this morning for the English breakfast. It lived up to the reviews on Trip advisor – quality ingredients especially the sausages, black pud and bacon. The latte coffee was so good that I had 2 glasses of it. The price of this quality breakfast was very reasonable by todays standards. I will be going back there for the English breakfast and Latte coffee before I leave Southport.
Went here for the first time today . Lovely interiors . Very cosy . Ample dinner menu or afternoon teas . Lots of homemade cakes to choose from . The nice atmosphere and the delightful crockery and cutlery make it a lovely dining experience
Having read the reviews for Il Capitano i count wait to visit. Not a massive pizza fan but this place is pretty local so was hoping for good things.
First off the food is lovely. We shared a chacuterie sharer which was really nice. I had a pizza and the wife had a seafood linguine, again both were very nice.
So why only 2* review. First off its incredibly busy. Not with diner but with takeaway drivers. There is a constant stream of just eat, uber eat, deliveroo etc through the door making the venue freezing cold. It also means the staff ( one server ) are rushed off there feet. We waited 40 mins just to order a starter. It also means the food and drink is literally thrown down. I ordered a red wine which was stone cold because the bottle is kept on a shelf by the till. Lastly there is only one toilet shared by men and women and the seat was hanging off.Something so easily fixed should be allowed in this day and age.
I hope they can sort these issues because the food really is outstanding.
