We had a fantastic shared seafood platter for my birthday £89 but you couldn’t possibly have a starter and sweet with it. We even took some home with us ! Order 24hrs before though👍

Best quality produce around. Jamie runs a fantastic place and Patrick’s food is unreal. Excellent three course meal. Cannot wait to return!

This is a hidden gem in Southport. Took my family who were visiting from the USA. They loved the food and they are foodies. The food is always fabulous and we have been several times. Highly recommend the rack of lamb and their seafood. The staff are always friendly and had a good choice of nice wines. You need to try it and you won’t be disappointed.

Not been in a while so went with friends who have never been. It’s a proper grown up restaurant selling primarily quality meat and seafood. We had quite a variety of dishes including oysters, soup, steaks and fish accompanied by veg and chips. For dessert we had the tiniest chocolate pot ever and a cheesecake. It was all very nice although not exceptional and overall I think a touch pricey but it’s well cooked food.

Superb food and brilliant service. This is an excellent restaurant which is highly recommended. The quality of food and standard of service is first class!

This was the 3rd visit back from a group of 8 golfers from the South. Every year the food service and value for money are absolutely top notch. I can't speak highly enough about the Lansdowne and we'll keep on going back as often as we can.

Outstanding food and hospitality. We were a group of ten, but they coped with aplomb. A hidden gem.

Dined with family midweek, on the whole it was delightful, however you are presented with a mass of contradictions. On arrival, the venue is what you could politely describe as underwhelming, the exterior is a rather ugly 1970s facade, which has limited scope for improving. The interior could easily be upgraded, at the moment the rough wooden bar, tarten tab top curtain, garish paintwork and shabby fishing tackle boxes don't present themselves as fine dining, which is what you would expect for the prices. Due to an unavoidable issue with supply, we were not able to order our preferred choice of lobster, however everything we did order was absolutely delightful. The mussels were cooked perfectly, the batter for the tempura prawns was light and crisp and the salad dressings were tasty. For main courses we mostly ended up opting for steak, the fillet was a really good cut, very flavoursome and cooked exactly as requested, I don't usually have sauces with steak (garlic butter being the standard preference) but chose for the mushroom sauce - it was so tasty, and plenty of it. The vegetables were nicely seasoned but a little overcooked for my liking, (but I'm not sure if that's down to the demographic, which was predominantly winter, from what we saw of our fellow diners). The Wagyu burger was one of the 'best ever tasted', and the Surf and Turf was delicious according to the recipient. The deserts were the only real let down, and I would say not up to the same standards as the savoury food. We took an early sitting, by the time we left the restaurant was full - no sign of an economic downturn here, and there were clearly a lot of regulars. The service was, for the most part good, the staff were all friendly and helpful but our glasses often needed refilling and crumbs were left on the table, which, again, for the prices in the restaurant, you would expect those things to be taken care of. All in all, the food was great, the service was good but other aspects could be improved to make it perfect.

Always been a good restaurant and now run by previous owners son and associate .The food was excellent with good selection and the service very good . The prices are what we are to expect in the market place but credit to the restaurant on a Tuesday night the restaurant was almost full hence need I say more when many restaurants in reverse gear this one is good food /great surroundings and service .Suggest top venue in Southport

Ate at Lansdowne bistro ltd last night for their Thursday fish night… was absolutely delicious.. service great too. Booked again for next week and they even asked what fish we would like them to get in for us… Dover Sole it is.. Highly recommended 👌🏻

Exceptional food and lovely evening. We’ve not been here for a while but the food is as good as ever if not better. My husband had fish soup to start and I opted for Mussels. The mussels were excellent with just the right amount of sauce. Husband said his soup was amazing and full of various seafoods including mussels and prawns. I opted for a surf and turf main. A great piece of fillet with prawns; cooked to perfection. Husband had pheasant in a wild mushroom sauce. The mains came with new potatoes, fries and a selection of fresh vegetables. Sadly we didn’t have room for a sweet on this occasion. We definitely won’t leave it as long til we return.

Went here as a party of 20+ for our Christmas night out. We had sole use of the restaurant and everything had been laid on for us. The food was absolutely perfect, the turkey was so tasty, and plenty of it. The service was great, I would highly recommend and will certainly be back.

I visited this restaurant for dinner with two friends. For starter I had crab bisque while one of my friends ordered prawns wrapped in smoked salmon - both excellent. For main course we had all ordered lobster which came in a thermidor sauce. This was excellent. The lobster was cooked to perfection and came with a selection of vegetables, new potatoes and chips. With this we drank a very good French Sauvignon Blanc. For dessert I had a quite large and classic creme brulee, one that hadn't been adulterated with berries. I can't remember what my friends ordered. To finish I had a French Coffee and was surprised to learn that they use Courvoisier Cognac in this not ordinary brandy. The service was friendly and efficient throughout.

First ever visit to the restaurant. Service was fantastic from the moment we arrived. Had potted shrimps and deep fried Brie which was lovely. Both had rack of lamb and asked for it pink which was exactly how it came. Meat was succulent and very tasty. Not expensive and relatively good choice but would like a few more desserts to choose from. Can’t believe we’ve never visited before but will definitely go back. Big thumbs up to the staff.

On Sat 3rd Sep we had the fish platter for two. We were unable to finish this spectacular dish as we had eaten starters, fish soup and melon with fruit. Bit of a mistake but the starters were great.........the best fish soup I have ever had. The staff were very helpful and friendly and this just added to a marvelous evening. The decor was also unusual and, again, added to the whole experience.

First time back here since the Chefs dad Marc Tyndall used to own it. Excellent food and service! Patrick is a Top Chef😁 Definitely recommend coming here if you want gourmet cuisine at sensible prices. Will definitely be back!

Visited here with my family on 27th July, good menu with the specials that day on a range of steaks. Three of us opted for steaks with various preferences of how they were to be cooked, all food came exactly as we asked, cooked to perfection with choice of chips or potatoes and vegetables, cannot fault a thing everything was absolutely perfect from the food to the service, shame we don’t live closer as this could be a favourite.

Tucked away in a back street, this bistro was an excellent find. Friendly, attentive service. Cosy, relaxed ambience and delicious food. Would definitely recommend!

From entering the door to ending our lunch it was just as always first class. My beef dish and dessert as my sister curry and lemon drizzle. Bought chocolate biscuita for later too. THANK YOU Staff and Chef too..A return trip soon Susan and Cindy

Without a doubt a top 5 restaurant In the town, fantastic food with 5 star service. I have eaten here several times and it has always been amazing. New owners now (Same chef). The service goes above and beyond. The homemade steak sauces especially the peppercorn are the best Iv ever tasted.

6 of us have just spent a week in Southport playing golf and were recommended this restaurant to try.Wow Wow Wow - it was superb, high quality menu, great wines in a comfortable environment. So good we went twice in 3 days !!Try it I promise you you wont be disappointed.

What a lovely birthday meal we had here tonight! Great service and very well presented. The only downside if I had to pick on something, was the very cheap napkins and skinny french fries! But everything else was fabulous! Thank you for a lovely evening we’d definitely go back!

A real cosy, friendly atmosphere. Food is excellent, a great choice of fish dishes all perfectly cooked (we have eaten here 4 times in the last month). The rack of Lamb is delicious, again perfectly cooked - pink! If you enjoy steak try the T -Bone , excellent. Battered King Prawns with Chilli Sauce is a tasty but not heavy starter. The mussels are served in a big pot and again a great starter. The chunky bread served with the starters is delicious and i would say homemade. Good selection of wines. Staff are attentive and friendly, Steve has been our waiter each time we have been to eat, he is an asset to the Landsdowne Bistro .

It was my first time visiting the Landsdowne Bistro last Saturday. It's a little odd looking from the outside, it looks a bit like a residential bungalow, but inside is nicely done. A warm welcome and friendly service by all of the staff throughout our stay. The food was superb! I had the potted shrimp followed by the game pie would recommend both!

Our first visit to this restaurant. Had looked on the website and was sceptical to say the least. Building does not look desirable, decor is a little ‘cold’ with mismatched furnishings and furniture.We had pre ordered the seafood platter to share, we were going to order starters and mains too but were advised against it. We were told that the platter and a main would be plenty.The seafood platter was a thing of beauty, packed with top quality delicious seafood and garnishes. I cannot stress enough how delicious this was. We all ordered a meat main course, the beef stroganoff and the pork steak being winners here. No room for dessert, which is unheard of!The staff were nice enough, if a little curt. The bill was a nice surprise.I would say though that a few of the dishes need to be pre ordered like the platter and lobster. Yet the menu is not on the website, this makes no sense.Food is excellent, not expensive and good quality but the place, website and staff are below par.

I took five foreign guests for dinner and all had very different diets. The food was lovely and the young waiter could not do enough to help. I will return.

Visited this restaurant for the first time last night and it won't be my last. The food is out of this world, the lamb was cooked to perfection as was my partners sea bream. The service was also fantastic, very attentive waiter and got great advice from the maitre d' on what wine to have with our meal. Really can't recommend this place enough, oh and almost forgot to mention the sticky toffee pudding!! 10 out of 10.

On business in Southport, fancied seafood, so went on trip advisor for a good seafood restaurant and this place came up trumps. Being only 8 o’clock I had plenty of time as it claims to be open until 10pm. 830pm I came in to request a table to be told the chef went home half an hour ago. Not a good first impression and will not return. I’m sure the food is great but it’s left a bad taste in my mouth.

Being one of three business colleagues who dined on a Tue night I feel compelled to write a review on two fronts:1 - the food was both good and VFM but2 - As being the only ones in the restaurant in the middle of Business chat - being asked to leave at 10.15pm on the grounds the maitre’d had to go home was not good - especially so given how rude and unapologetic he wasGOOD FOOD DOES NOT MAKE UP FOR BAD MANNERS

Went to the landsdowne bistro, had the battered prawns with chilli sauce, EXCELLENT!! For the main we had the lamb cutlets, absolutely EXCELLENT!!! Cannot fault it in any way 100% for the food, the service and the surroundings, see u all very soon.

I have never had a bad meal with mark at the Lansdowne,very well priced and has some dishes that you do not see on other menus. His seafood dishes are always magnificent but it is the only place that I can dine on kidneys in red wine, with rice.You will not be disappointed with the menu and he always has some specials. This was my very first time Iv been here,come with a party of people. I had duck pate to start lamb for main and ice cream for dessert. I thought the quality of the lamb dish was fantastic. I will be coming back again

Everything was spot-on (like going back 20 years - in a good way). Excellent food, nice ambiance, great staff, ‘proper’ service . . . all faultless. This was our first visit and I’m sure we’ll become regulars.

Have never been disappointed with the quality of the food at this place; I urge anyone reading the reviews to visit and experience for themselves.

This restaurant never fails to deliver. The food is superb the quality is outstanding the service is excellent and the ambiance is warm and welcoming. This is our most favourite place to eat.

This is second time I’ve visited Landsdowne Bistro this month. The steak was cooked to perfection and the peppercorn sauce was delicious. The vegetables that come with it are all the ones I love! Cauliflower, broccoli, green beans. Don’t even get me started on the sticky toffee pudding. Great food, great place. I will be back soon.

Usually book a table for 5 or 6 people at my and my partners birthday parties.

We as usual had a lovely meal. The food was fresh and nicely presented. It was a quiet evening but we went to war not to be entertained. My only complaint was that we have never been served so quickly ever. No sooner has we ordered and we had our starters then mains etc etc. I think they wanted an early close!!

Takes a bit of beating in Southport to find a restaurant with such superb high quality, exceptionally well prepared and served food. Not to be overlooked. You've just got to give it a try.

We visit the Landsdowne bistro every few months for special occassions or family celebrations, this time was a table of 32 for a family birthday!! Excellent service, food amazing especially the seafood and lobster and the seabass! Extremely well priced for the service and quantity of food. Would recommend to everybody! Should be number 1 on trip advisort reviews!

Perhaps the grumpiest owner / maitre'd we've ever encountered but it's just an act. Put up with Mark and it's well worth it - the food is really good.

I had been looking forward to eating at The Lansdowne again on Saturday all week and I am pleased to say it lived up to expectations . Again food was excellent along with the wine, service and ambiance.

I have eaten at The Lansdowne at few times this year, and have never been disappointed. Each time I have been my fellow diners have been people who travel internationally and appreciate a high standard. Also I always recognise fellow diners who also know ' where to eat in town '. The food is well presented, good value and well cooked ( vegetable not done to death) I am a regular contributor to Trip Advisor and worry about. the ratings as this restaurant should not be number 79, as it deserves to be in the top 12.

I agree with other reviewers that this is a 'Little Gem' The Lansdowne is a small restaurant and bar which offers high quality cuisine in a pleasant ambience. I would described the menu as traditional but still modern and the portion sizes decent. They have a good range if meat, fish, shell fish and game dishes etc, served with fresh vegetables , salads and chips or potatoes. The wine list is good with the house being fabulous and very reasonably priced which makes a pleasant change. I enjoyed the sea bass with salad and a bottle house red ; my friend had rack of lamb . We really enjoyed everything about this place.Looking forward to my next visit .

First visit to this local restaurant, friendly and welcoming staff, decor fishing theme menu as you'd expect mainly fish however steak and chicken also on menu. I opted for classic prawn cocktail very 1970's, my husband went to potted sccrimps both very well presented, for mains we had sea bass with prawns and chicken with seafood which was very nice, sauces on both dishes delicous, we opted for a trio of deserts to share amazing and highly recommended. It won't be long before we return on viewing other dishes the sea food platter looked amazing we may opt for that on our next visit.

Visited last night for the 1st time with my wife and pleasantly surprised when we entered , the outside does no justice whatsoever to the inside Both the food and the service was excellent as was the wine , a throughly enjoyable experience all roundHaving lived in Southport for over 25 years I am not sure why we hadn't tried this gem beforehand , maybe it was because we walked rather than using the car , whatever the reason we will be eating there againGive it a try - you won't be disappointed !

Went on a busy night but service was first class. Sarters' of fish soup, melon/fruit, prawn cocktail and soup of the day hot and good portions. The mains were all good with the rack of lamb outstanding. Nice atmosphere if a little warm on the evening. Will be back.

The service was excellent and the food also. I hadn't been here before but plan to return soon. The menu was great and good value. It looks small from outside but please venture inside, you won't be disappointed.

Who would expect a small restaurant perched at the back of a supermarket parking lot to offer a wonderful meal. Another restaurateur recommended the Landsdowne and it was fantastic. Excellent cod in mustard cream sauce, rack of lamb, well chosen wine list, and very attentive service. We were there on a Friday night and appreciated their attention to detail, excellent cheeses and dessert choices. I can't speak highly enough of this tucked away restaurant. It does not need to advertise because its reputation grows from satisfied diners.

I took two of my friends to this excellent restaurant last night and once again the food was delicious, the service was first class and the setting was amazing. One of my guests was from Kyrgyzstan and she was very impressed too. I will always recommend this establishment to people who wish to dine in Southport.

Friday night 7.30 specials Surf and Turf.An excellent Bistro, the food freshly prepared and a great ambience was perfect the service superb. Steak and lobster cooked to perfection.All in all a really nice evening.

A large group of us turned up without too much notice. We were immediately made very welcome. The choice was impressive and the ability to serve so many different dishes, to a high quality, without undue delay was quite remarkable. If I return to Southport this would almost certainly be my first choice restaurant.

We have visited this lovely restaurant a few times now while on weekend breaks. The food is always freshly prepared and of top quality. Particular mention for the seafood platter. Yummy! I had the rack of lamb too which had a tasty sauce. Staff are super, very helpful and friendly. Even at very busy times they are on the ball. Cant wait for our next visit.

A pleasant bistro with average ambience. Friendly and efficient service with excellent food. Although in a side street it appears to be very popular with the advantage of a parking lot opposite. The owner is a very proficient angler and he tends to specialise in fish meals. My wife had the crab soup, over which she enthused. There is a set menu, reasonably priced but we paid extra for the rack of lamb, which was worth it.

The food is always fantastic here,we try and eat here once a month the wine list is outdated however. Slightly older clientele which makes it a relaxing atmosphere. Would be nice if the staff stayed in the restaurant and bar though as they tend to keep hidden away in the kitchen area. They need to be creating a good ambience.

We went to the Landsdowne on a Saturday evening. We had a wonderful meal , there were 3 of us. All of the food was fresh, nicely prepared and presented well. My husband had the sea bass which he said was really lovely, Service was quick and very friendly. Enjoyable all round. Thank you for a pleasant meal.

Good food, Central location. Good menu choices all prepared by an excellent chef. Still preferred their old restaurant Tindalls.

Fabulous meals. My husband had the cod with mustard sauce an I had the chicken with tarragon sauce. Both we're served with wonderful fresh vegetables. Wonderful size portions even for seniors and the prices are more than fair. Mark, the owner, was very helpful and friendly. It should be noted that the name of this restaurant is Lansdowne Bistro, not Landsdown Bistro.

I love coming to Lansdowne's. The owners ensure excellent service & a super menu with lots of choice. This was a birthday do for my mum. There were eight of us. It's important to book if there's a group, they're often busy. There was a set menu, two courses for £15.95 or the main menu. The portions are generous, I've never left feeling hungry or short-changed. The house wine is excellent & not too pricey. We all said what a great time we'd had & the friendly,relaxed atmosphere added to that. Looking forward to our next visit.

We saw this restaurant after a visiti to the Office next door and must say we were not disappointed. Service was excellent, food plentiful and delicious and Nothing was too much trouble. This is by far the best restaurant we have been to in Southport. WOuld definitely go back!
