Il Capitano's in Sefton

I have said before Il Capitano’s is the best pizza in Mersyside, and also the north west, but honestly guys tonight was the most amazing pizza of my life!!! The best pizza in the UK!! Actually I want to change that to the best pizza in Europe. I have eaten Neapolitan pizza in Rome, Pisa, Milan and Venice but seriously you guys win hands down. Thank you for amazing service and food once again!!

Booked a table for 4 (one of party is a wheelchair user) accessibility is good unfortunately the toilet was not. Greeted at the door by a lovely waitress who showed us to our table and took our drinks order. Good choice of Antipasto, homemade fresh pasta and wood fired pizza using all fresh ingredients. We opted for four different pastas and 1 pizza between us to share, everything was hot and delicious. Extra shout out to the waitress who served us for her efficient and friendly service. Will definitely be returning for more 10/10 😋

We visited on a wet Thursday evening, travelling from West Derby by bus and train ( taxi back). It was well worth the effort- friendly welcome on arrival and the heat from the pizza oven soon warmed us up. Lovely large dry white wine for me and a red for my wife. We shared a truffle pizzette which was very tasty and then had nduja pasta and a frutti de mare pasta - again both very tasty. Big thank you to chef F and the team for looking after us . We hope to return soon as the weather improves.

Sorry to say, the pizzas we all ordered where very bland. The best part of the meal was the starter of Antipasti. Yes it's a thin base, but also soggy, we all swapped pizza's and could not define the tastes. So disappointed. But we did appreciate the waitress and tipped her well.

Superb food. Superb staff. Friendly atmosphere and always made to feel welcome. Highly recommend for family, friends or a date night.

Had the most amazing meal. Shared the veg platter and garlic bread, then pizzas for main. Dough so fresh and soft and everything delicious. We'll be back !!

Whilst previous visits to IL Capitanos were good, and they had a great product they have recently changed their gluten free bases, which are considerably smaller than the normal bases, however you still have to pay more for a gluten free pizza. Photos show previous sided gluten free pizza in silver foil tray next to a normal pizza, compared with the new gluten free pizza.

Waited 45 minutes, pizzas were burnt and soggy at the same time, free garlic bread but it was dripping in oil and burnt so we didn't even eat it. But of a shame really as I've heard good things.

Amazing food best pizza I've ever had, garlic bread was amazing aswell. Staff were really friendly and attentive. Couldn't reccomend more will definitely be back:)

Absolutely stunning pizza and amazing staff, we called and asked for a delivery which they wouldn't usually do as we didn't live with the delivery area but made an exception and I'm so glad they did! It was the first time we visited Il Capitano's and it won't be the last either. The decor was a complete surprise to me for a pizza restaurant, very cool indeed. The music was fantastic and the staff, attentive. Great to see pizzas being cooked in a proper pizza oven fired with wood. The result was a brilliant Neapolitan Pizza, cooked to perfection. Next time we feel like a pizza, it's a no-brainer, we will be back again. Keep up the good work guys.

Went early Saturday evening for a family gathering (5 adults, 1 child, 1 baby) really easy and friendly to book. We’d heard great things about the food already (which was outstanding) but was really impressed with the service and drinks. Everyone had a great time and we’re definitely coming back!
