Volare in Sefton

Popped in here for lunch on a Friday afternoon expecting an average Italian meal. Wow the food was amazing. Great Caprese salad. The spaghetti alla vongole was superb too. The tiramisu was also exceptional. We just got back from a 4 day trip to Rome and honestly this food was better than anything we had there. Great family run business and great service too. Definitely coming back when we visit Southport again. Better than 5 stars.

This restaurant does not disappoint at all we have been a few Tim’s now and I believe it’s my favourite restaurant in Southport the food is out of this world there were ten of us and the service was excellent the staff are amazing would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Southport if in the day time or night time you won’t be disappointed

Recommended to us by a local. Booking is advised but we were very fortunate a table became available as we debated where to go whilst we waited for our time slot as we hadn't booked. The staff are welcoming & efficient. The food was stunning , we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Great variety of choices for everyone and prices are reasonable.

We didn't know there was a fixed price menu which finished at 2pm when we entered. So being as it was 1.50 when we got there we obviously touched lucky with our time of arrival on recent sunny Saturday afternoon. We were also lucky to get a table as it was very busy. My starter was the pate. It was very nice but was also a very small portion. It would have been more accurate to describe it as toast and salad with a small sliver of pate which just happened to be there. There wasn't enough to call both of the substantial pieces of toast in to action tbh but it was nice enough. And that's the last negative thing I'll write. The sea bass I had for my main was delicious and, unlike with the starter, there was plenty there including the veg and potatoes. It was good that this was all included in the price rather than having to order sides to make it more substantial and more expensive. My wife and son both thoroughly enjoyed both of their courses and it was rounded off with a very drinkable bottle of house white. All three of us really enjoyed our meal in Volare, well done to all.

Absolutely wonderful Italian restaurant, the food is amazing as well as a large choice of wines from Italy. Higher commended.

Table of 12 for a birthday. Very busy when we arrived, this however did not affect the service. Very good service from all waitresses, lots of staff working and very easy to get a servers attention which I think is important. Food very good, all of our group of 12 were very complimentary of the food. Restaurant allowed us to bring our own birthday cake for happy birthday. And even sliced this up and served this to us, which was much appreciated. Couldn’t find any fault, fantastic night. Thank you to all the team

Non è facile trovare buoni ristoranti italiani in Uk. Ancor piu' difficile trovarne di ottimi. Invece ecco una piacevole sorpresa a Southport, in questo ristorante gestito dalla passione del titolare ai fornelli (siciliano) e della moglie in sala (from Puglia) con cui ho avuto il piacere di dialogare e che ringrazio ancora per avermi trovato un tavolo in un affollato sabato sera. Innanzitutto il piacere di non essere costretti a leggere sulla carta strafalcioni grossolani abituali da queste parti (a pochi metri un altro locale proponeva "spaghetti carbonarra, oppure tagliatelli/fettuccini...". Non si possono leggere nel 2025!) . E poi la qualita' e il gusto. Bruschetta stizzicante, ma l'amatriciana che ho gustato era sicuramente migliore di molte altre assaggiate anche in Italia. Accompagnata da un buon calice di Vinro Rosso di Montepulciano. Ottimo il guanciale e poi usano i sedanini, che - parere personale - si prestano perfettamente ad assorbire all'interno il sugo. Piacevole l'arredamento interno, "italian style" senza stereotipi banali, sempre affollato e quindi rumoroso, servizio "da battaglia", puntuale e preciso, prezzi correttti. Sara' un piacere tornarci.

So disappointed and actually quite annoyed My mum and step dad love Volarè and always rave about the food and service. So we booked their joint birthdays there this week. It actually felt like we had visited a different restaurant. The young blonde lady that served our table was pleasant and attentive. It was really warm in there (it always is) I politely asked would it be possible to turn the AC up so we were all comfortable. The rudest girl just glared at me, didn’t speak and went over to ask the chef. They both rolled their eyes turned to look at me, chatted amongst themselves and started laughing . I interrupted them and said “please if it’s a problem don’t bother” it was like I’d ask them for a kidney. It made me feel really uncomfortable. The table was for 12 and we spent a small fortune. The food was mediocre. My brother and I had the tagliatelle bolognese and his portion was huge, mine was like a child’s , the food literally looked like it had just been slopped on the plate. No care , no fuss , no attention to two elderly customers who have gone so regularly it was their first choice to book . Beyond disappointing . And I’m actually appalled we paid all that money for a joint bday party for dreadful service, to be ridiculed for making a polite request, food that had literally been thrown on a plate and what is totally unacceptable and unforgivable is to really not make a fuss of two regular loyal diners who had brought their whole family to dine at Volarè! Coincidentally on the lead up to the party I emailed the restaurant twice asking questions confirming numbers etc both emails ignored. The fish soup was lovely ! And literally that is the only positive I can write . Shocking

Volare is an absolute gem that deserves every 5 star review and more. Wonderful, friendly people and absolutely delicious food. We visited with two small children and they were exceptionally accommodating, with small plates, cutlery etc - if only every restaurant were like you!! Fabulous experience had all around. Sadly we no longer live in Southport so can’t visit more often, but we will be back next time. Thank you Volare!

First ever visit last night and won't be our last...staff...food atmosphere amazing... got to be the best Italian restaurant in Southport.. the food was perfect and plentiful.... good value for money you could tell it was fresh.. they made a wedding anniversary treat for my mum and dad extra special with a surprise cake and clapping etc....thank you all for a wonderful evening....we will be back!...

I ordered a pizza my partner had lobster The lobster was like rubber the amount she got was very little either the pizza was suppose to have 4 different meats it was like pizza base with pre pack meat out of Asda. There wasn’t 4 types of meat either , They then offered a free drink on the house to apologise I think the girl spilt it on the way over it was like 1 tea spoon full of brandy they gave her it was not worth the £60 we paid, (we won’t be back ) That has to be the worst dinning experience I have ever had how people can say it’s the best Italian outside of Italy I don’t know, we went home and made egg and chips as we were starving, we were so looking forward to our meal in the restaurant we left feeling very disappointed overall a disgusting experience . I do not recommend this restaurant to anybody

Really took my gluten allergy seriously. Staff was very friendly and went above and beyond, and the food was excellent, tasted fresh.

3 courses, starter ok, main very bland, pasta hard, wasn't asked if meal ok. Desert just ice cream, safer option was delicious, coconut ice cream, however waitress didn't tell us about the specials for desert but we heard her telling another table. Won't bother going back.

We pre-booked a table and came around 6pm last Saturday evening to have a celebratory dinner for my son's 18th birthday. The restaurant was already busy when we got there. Despite being packed, the service was quick and efficient and not at all in your face. Food was so well made and absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend Volare. The only downside, if there I was one, is that it was quite noisy. It's obviously a popular place, and they really do like to accommodate as many people as possible, there was a table of approximately 14 people behind our table, all having a lovely time, as we were, but that, along with us, and all the other people there made it quite noisy and shouty :) My point is, if you want a quiet and intimate dinner date for two, it might be worth ringing ahead and asking when their quietest time is? It's a beautiful place, food is excellent, and it's fairly priced. My son had a great birthday meal, we all did, and he enjoyed his complimentary shot of lemon vodka. The staff did ask me if I wanted them to sing happy birthday to him, but he would have been mortified being the centre of attention! Will definitely eat there again. Went for the first time in January, the food was excellent and the service super, we will be cak again when we next visit Southport.

We visited Volare for the first time this week for my husbands birthday. Food and customer service were both excellent. We will definitely be returning.

we went for a meal a few days after christmas and overall very pleased with the food and service. The pizza were very tasty and my son had the chicken which again was well presented. We wil be going back.

Had a meal booked there on Saturday 21st December so obviously it was going to be very busy. I was then quite prepared for the service to be pretty slow but this was not the case in fact quite the opposite. All our party enjoyed their food which was of the highest standard. All in all a very enjoyable experience and I can't wait to go back.

The prawn and courgette burschetta was bland and the bread a bit soggy. The flavour of the spaghetti vongole was nice, however the sauce was gritty due to poor preparation of the clams and the portion size was meager. Cannelloni was very rich and tasty, but lacked any acidity. Overall a bit disappointed, as we ate here a few years ago and had a great experience, but the service was good.

Simply wonderful staff, food, atmosphere

Such an amazing restaurant, first choice for date night but this time was the work Xmas dinner and it was awesome. The food and service was 11/10 yes it was that good! Honestly there's nothing to fault, the staff are attentive, friendly and approachable, the food quality is out of this world. Cannot recommend Volare enough to friends and family!

Not there now but was earlier…. Mmmm ok but not amazing but the price was very very expensive for what we had. … prefer mama Mia. … wouldn’t go back to be honest. Wouldn’t recommend to friends or family. … not saying the food was really bad it was just ok. I could have made it at home better. …. Service was very good though.

Really looking forward to coming. A bit of a let down. Staff were friendly but did not know too much. Asked about cocktails and had no idea, apart from just pointing to the 6 basic ones on the menu, no draught beer, so bottles worked out at near £9/pint!! Asked for glass of wine.....and enquired about what types of red wine they had by the glass..answer was, house red, what sort of wine is house red?....blank faces, no idea!! It was nice though, tasted like a Chianti...food was OK but a bit bland, lacking in punch and no real flavour (lasagne and penne pasta with hardly any chilli, just plenty bland bacon bits). Coffee was good. The Christmas menu looked good but wondered would it dissapoint. The place was pretty busy though for a Wednesday night. Food, not a patch on the Dolce Vita in Ainsdale.

Birthday meal for me. Picked from Google. Simply superb. I had veal and my other half had the calzone. The sprouts were not only edible but delicious - no mean feat as I din't really like them. As it was early evening there were enough people in to make it feel comfoetable and the staff were not under pressure. A perfect experience. Thank you.

From word of mouth we booked this restaurant with a 5pm table. Pleasant welcome, nice ambience about the place and open kitchen. Ordered mushroom in sauce starter between two followed by specials board salmon in prawn sauce and a tournedo rossini both with veg and a shared crepe dessert. Well one word "fantastic" describes the whole food taste, portion size and quality. Service from several waitresses superb. Washed down with a house wine. The best italian meal we have ever had. Well done Volare. So good we reserved a table before leaving for New Years Eve.

Amazing food. Strangely I don't particularly like pasta or pizza but I did find a great selection of other dishes. Crab and avocado bake was lovely - plenty of crab and a great sauce. Lobster thermador - always my favourite - was exceptional. Loved it. My friends said the pasta and pizza were wonderful - I will take their word for it but the dishes did look good. The food was delicious, so it gives 4 stars. The service was nice and helpful but not too much space, very tight. We waited for food for over an hour and a half and after two hours the next people waited for our table so we just had to go out to our table so we were told, there was no place inside so that I could wear a suit for my 6-month-old child I had to dress a child outside. This place is certainly not child-friendly.

Volare is definitely our favourite restaurant. This time we were with our daughter and family. Our two grandsons, 12 and 8, thoroughly enjoyed their meals. There is no specific children’s menu, but smaller-base pizzas and pasta dishes are available. This suited the 12 year-old who is beginning to want to choose from an adult menu. The younger boy asked fir a simple pasta with a tomato sauce, which was provided with no problem. The adults had a difficult choice from the wide menu! The food is generous and beautifully presented by very friendly and efficient staff. Many thanks to Cinzia, Onofrio and the team.

Having had a walk around Southport, we decided to stay in the town for lunch. With it being a Monday and 2pm, most places were either closed or so empty you wouldn't want to go in. Then we came across Volare, not only open but quite busy. We have visited previously and remembered the generous portion sizes, so the three of us just had main courses, Lasagne, Tagliatelle Bolognaise and I chose the seafood pizza. All dishes were delicious and we polished off the lot. My pizza was excellent with a fabulous selection of seafood, rather than just a few prawns as is usually the case. Service was both friendly and efficient, although we never felt rushed. Given the quality of the food, service and décor, this place offers great value for money

What a wonderful restaurant, a smiling faces of the waiting staff made our dining more appreciated. The food was also very good, plenty of vegetarian options, wheelchair accessible and more importantly the toilets were clean. Only let down was the lift music. Maybe it was Fausto Papetti (not sure) but does not really go well for daytime dining. It was borderline irritating. We will be back for sure. Would recommend.

Everything is lovely in there ..from the pleasant staff to the fabulous food ...ended with irish coffees which were fab ...soon gets packed so booking is a must ....

We have came to Southport today with wife and baby took a walk and decided to eat somewhere as it turned out we found restaurant Volare !!! We were stunned as 2 years ago we have meet in Volare in Rome!!! When arrived we were welcomed by owner at the doors decorated and smell of food from kitchen together with music has made us feel like stepping back in time. After spending some time sharing experience with owner we had ordered food menu was great authentic Italian food made by family from generations!!! Bruschetta Romana simple but best !!! So tasty and fresh 🤤 The seasonal menu wild mushrooms risotto served in pumpkin was best I tried and that comes from 12 years experience chef !!! We also tried Amatriciana and had some house wine that together completed the day !!! We felt like back in Italy!!! Definitely will be visiting often now what a gem 💎!!! Where do I start - although only open for 5 days, there were plenty of teething problems. Vourla as its name suggests ‘Burnt Rushes’, was very disappointing. The starters were passable, although the octopus was very ”pappy” (as though it had just been taken out of the freezer). Out of our 4 main courses off the a la carte menu, ALL were either overcooked, dry, Luke warm, hard to cut, or missing an accompaniment specified on the menu. I do not think that 1 carrot and 2 small tender stem broccoli deserves the description of “served with root vegetables”. Or a cold crushed plum tomato deserves the description of “a chilli dip”. If the meal states it’s served with flatbread, TOAST is not a substitute! We did try and give fair criticism to the manager/wine waiter (as he had requested it previously, and he said it would help them in the future), but after 3 of us explained to him what was not good about our meals, he totally ignored the 4th persons response to hers and walked off. We were offered a glass of complementary wine each by way of an apology (as it was 2 of our birthdays), which we accepted. We then received the Bill which had included ALL the main courses on it, despite there being something inedible with all of them. When we suggested that for good customer service the Main Courses should be removed from the Bill, we were then given another Bill with the Main Courses removed, BUT with the addition of the previous complimentary 4 glasses of wine ADDED TO THE BILL instead! The food served was not good. Very disappointing hence the 1 star rating.

Called for breakfast Croissants. Coffee and tea were lovely, and the Croissants were delicious. They have various flavours, and I think my husband and I have tried them all over the oast month. We eat here regularly and the food, service and atmosphere are amazing. We highly recommend this restaurant.

We visited here on Sunday evening, the Bank Holiday weekend. The restaurant looked lovely & inviting from the outside.We hadn’t booked and it looked really busy, the lady at the front desk made room for us. The atmosphere was great. The waitress we had was very courteous & attentive. The food we had was absolutely delicious & from looking at other customers plates, theirs looked lovely too. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Thank you!

This place is magnificent...service is wonderful, food is astonishingly good, and the price is unbelievable. Staff are professional but friendly and they know their menu and their wine list. This may be the best restaurant I've been in for a long time !

Had a lovely lunch with family, excellent range on the menu plus lots on the specials/set menu. Service was quick and friendly. All our food was excellent, good quality ingredients and really cooked well. Will definitely be going back. Soon filled up on a Monday lunchtime which was surprising in one way but must be some that are returning customers and know how good it is. Highly recommended.

We went to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday with all the family. Service and food were excellent . We all had different dishes and everyone was happy with their choice . Despite having several large parties in they kept us supplied with drinks and brought out the birthday cake with a flourish and music . Made the celebration perfect and we will definitely be back .

Fabulous restaurant in the heart of Southport. The atmosphere was lively and friendly; we felt incredibly welcomed. The food is delicious - from the pizza to the risotto to the bruschetta. Our server, Alice, was a gem. The restaurant owners were on site and we were welcomed by them both. Do try the house made limoncello - it's the best I've had anywhere.

Food was good especially the fillet steak and lots of sauce choices with it. Found 2 of the female waitresses quite rude. One Rolling her eyes when you asked her something. My friend was gluten free and was told order the dish and then she'd check if she could have it. Struggled to order apple cider drink. Place is loud and very popular and I love the steak but don't think we'll return as I think there may be a language issue with some of the staff.

First visit here. Really lovely food at reasonable prices. A friend who was visiting from Oz said it was the best meal she'd had since she'd arrived in the UK. Advise booking as they were busy and turning people away £25 main course and 2 large drinks

Went to Volare today for a family birthday, we had a booking for 15+ people including 3 kids under the age of 10. The food was absolutely fantastic, could not fault it at all. Everyone’s dishes came out at the same time and everything was cooked to perfection. The staff were very attentive especially with the very excitable children we had with us! Everyone made a massive fuss of the person whose birthday it was including singing happy birthday. 10/10 experience, would definitely recommend

My Brother-in-law hit the big 60 so we opted for a meal for friends and family at Volare. Great experience for all 15 of us, children and adults alike. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the food was superb and everyone commented on how much they enjoyed it. The team are so professional and polite despite being extremely busy because our meal coincided with both the air show and England's Euro final. The team even found time to acknowledge his birthday with a rendition of "Happy Birthday" in both Italian and English....class! Would higjkt recommend Volare and look forward to going back soon 👍

No internet (or they said there was none), owner was moaning about children, not child friendly. (male owner very nice guy, female owner not)

Volare is our favourite restaurant in Southport. The crab and avocado bake is so delicious and we love the garlic chicken calzone and the seafood pizza 👌👌Our daughter highly rates the cheese garlic pizza and the chocolate ice cream too!! Friendly service and always busy with a great atmosphere. 🙂
