The best restaurants serving British food in England

The owner treats his staff really badly, as a customer, you are made to feel rushed and unvalued. The service by the owner is unorganised and chaotic, the young staff however, are great. As nice as the breakfast and cakes are, go elsewhere, the owner is the perfect example of how not to run a business. If he wants to succeed, as I suspect he does, he’ll have to seriously rethink his approach of running a small local business.

Dog friendly, staff super friendly, great coffee. We didn’t eat there but judging from what was being served we definitely will next time. Good vibes!

Nice cosy family run pub,always welcoming and friendly. Definitely worth a visit. Will be back again.

Good food. Wasn’t keen on the stressy older woman waitress that was obsessed with who sat where. Wore me out watching her.

What a load of ignorant........... Would give zero stars if I could, and that would be generous. Popped in today about 6pm. Haven't been for a little while and I guess it has changed ownership. What happened to the lovely man and his family that used to be there? I was stood right at the front and the only one that needed to be served out of 3 of us. I was completely ignored, not even one glance my way, no friendly smile, no acknowledgement of any kind, NOTHING whatsoever!!! There were 3 men behind the counter not exactly rushed off their feet. I waited a while and walked out never to return!!! Don't bother with this place unless you like being ignored!

We had a truly wonderful stay here with the tasting menu and wine flight. The spicing of the food was incredibly subtle and absolutely exquisite. The staff were very attentive throughout our stay. Our room was spacious and very comfortable.

Personally think this is the best fish and chips in Hastings

Not from the area but regularly visit family. I've had a few breakfast in the area, and I must say after a 5 hr drive it was needed, the breakfast Number 4 was big and I like to get my moneys worth, also eggs cooked to perfection, so if your a builder or a good eater and enjoy your food. ps, even Michel roux would like them eggs 😆

Always fantastic quality fish and chips. Consistent and friendly. I don’t really look to go anywhere else now. Thank you!
