Nice atmosphere and lovely friendly staff

It was a lovely place to have food and the food lovely and hot and yet my fear is really good nice and pleasant

Great venue! Fully refurbished pub with restaurant. There's a function room, too and pool table and darts available. Regularly showing sporting events on the many screens. Helpful staff.... Excellent food, whether of an evening (when available) or the amazing Sunday carvery! And pie and pint nights are the best.

Fabulous carvery lunch with neighbours We booked a table for the Sunday carvery and were not disappointed. The meats were deliciously cooked, fresh vegetables, choice of gravies and homemade Yorkshire pudds. The service was good, well worth a visit. You won’t be disappointed. Well done Eileen & her team!

Lovely sunday dinner just before second lockdown..first time we have eaten at the woodpecker in raunds lovely home cooked food good price and friendly staff serving us just a shame we are now in second lockdown and will have to wait until December before we can come back for a meal again.

Really nice place to relax or if you prefer to watch sports there are plenty of televisions around to get a good view of one. The restaurant area looks really nice however, I've not eaten there (yet) so cannot comment on the food quality. The staff are really welcoming and polite. I'd recommend this place to all. Only issue I personally have is the fact I'm a real ale drinker and they only have a choice of two but that is not going to prevent me from continuing to go there.

We quiz here every week. The staff are lovely, as are the owners. It has a really friendly atmosphere and we have been made very welcome. The food is wonderful and plentiful!

Fami!y celebration for mums 80th meal. The food was just right, plenty of it, tasty parsnips and cauliflower cheese too, very clean and new interior, will recommend.

Hadn't been here for years, used to be the old woodbine working mens club. The transformation is amazing. Was there for a school reunion. The food was delicious, the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the atmosphere was welcoming. Apparently they do a great Sunday carvery which will try at a later date. Would recommend.

Were here for a Wake... Was really impressed with the buffet which was provided. The Steak and Stilton Mini Pies were superb.. Coffee was good too once the barmaid worked out how the machine...

We returned from our wedding abroad having arranged a wedding celebration at the Woodpecker in Raunds ( Our Local ). From the beginning Eileen (and you Kenny!) showed attention to detail and caring that our wedding event would be as exciting as our one abroad. Organising the decoration of the room , which is a fantastic entertainment/party room, linking to outside (good for the smokers) was brilliant, the flowers etc. We had organised some party balloons and the staff and Eileen and Kenny made sure the room looked special for our occasion. The food, well how many guests have come up to me and said how fab the food was and I agree - perfect!. The DJ (arranged with Eileen and Kenny) was perfect too. Really loved everything about the event and want to say and big THANK YOU! You will not go wrong in choosing the Woodpecker for your special day.

Great place for a drink the Monday quiz is a good laugh with mates

The meals at the Woodpecher are always well presented, hot and tasty and very good value. I was reccommend the beef as beign the most tender every tasted by a friend. A large Christmas lunch party didn't faze them either. Excellent value and plenty of room between tables so conversation is easy.

Eileen dealt with our booking. She assured me that all food was home cooked and that the spread would be varied. I was shocked at the amount of food that was being served in the other room, they clearly get a lot of business. The food was really lovely and fantastic value for money. Eileen very much has a sense of home cooked, comfort food but with a modern vibe. I’m glad we booked The Woodpecker for my stepdads wake, he would’ve loved the mini steak and Stilton pies! Thank you for looking after us.

I've been here a couple of times on a Sunday for the carvery and I must say it is impressive The wine is quite overpriced but the establishment is very friendly and clean and they serve the roast by one table at a time which is nice Make sure you book well in advance as they are often fully booked!

Without doubt the best pub in Raunds a great atmosphere, brilliant company and spot on beer highly recommended.

Excellent carvery lunch. The beef and Yorkshire puddings were delicious, good choice of vegetables and tasty onion gravy.

We moved 80 miles North and started a new life. We eventually found The Woodpecker. Great people, great beer. Always friendly. Sunday lunches are excellent but you have to book. Happy hours between 5 & 7pm but not in a cheap and tacky way.

Lovely pub and restaurant, beer garden in summer. Food excellently cooked, great value for money, staff very pleasant & attentive. Recommended.

Friday lunch in very pleasant surroundings. Excellent furnishings but somewhat lacking in atmosphere, mainly due to the few diners. I suspect that bit is completely different at weekends , especially for the Sunday carvery which is always well supported. The choice of main courses is varied but basic and home cooked.

Yes thats correct we looked at the midweek lunchtime menu & decided on liver & onions for my wife,while I opted for the home made chicken pie with all the trimmings.

La comida es alucinante, el personal es increíble, muy servicial. Estupendo lugar manejado por familia. Gran asador el domingo mucho para comer. También se sirve lo que a usted le gusta, un montón de buena carne de buena calidad y un montón de verduras. Buenos dulces! Lugar encantador y un pequeño jardín para sentarse. Muy acogedor! En la actualidad sólo comidas haciendo a la hora de comer así que antes de ir. Recomiendo encarecidamente

We had a few pints in this pub on election night. Good selection of ales and lagers on tap, good service in a big well appointed pub. But there was nobody in the place. The one other patron and the bartender where watching Emerdale on the telly and the switched over to some other soap afterwards. Nice place but needs to do some work to increase the atmosphere.

My command of superlatives does not extend far enough to give the Woodpecker the full & high praise that it fully deserves.Proudly family run,the welcome is warm,friendly & genuine,as for the food,well there is a wide choice of vegetables to suit most pallets,this is perfectly complimented by tasty joints of meat cooked to the way I like them.When a family member reccomended the Woodpecker to us,I was to say the least a bit sceptical,I soon had my eyes opened when we were at the carvery being served.Well I hope my limited culinary knowledge helps people to enjoy this Rolls Royce in Raunds.?

Good food and great range of beer. Good atmosphere.

We were looking for a nice place to eat for a family meal to celebrate a birthday. So glad we found this place. It was recommended by friends so we knew it would be good, also advised to book in advance, I can see why. First impression when we arrived was wow what an amazing place to walk into. Deceptively small from the outside. Well laid out, well decorated lovely atmosphere. We were greeted by a smile and show to our table straight away. No pressure, offered the menus and a drink then left in peace till ready to order. Two starters, three mains and one sweet later drinks all round and very content we were handed all very reasonable bill and left very happy. Would recommend here to anyone who wants good food in a nice location, the menu isn't huge but that means they can focus on what they do and make it great.

If you are near Raunds and require food this is the place.Good honest fair in a very clean and pleasent pub

Place is nicely decorated and the food was tasty. I was just so annoyed by the cheap scam with the condiments. I had to have a replacement meal as I realised once I'd put sauce in my burger it was off. They're labelled as Heinz but they're clearly not. Best before date has been removed so they can obviously put a cheaper brand in. What a shame, enough to put me off not returning. They didn't offer a discount on the bill either, even though I ended up eating whilst everyone else had finished.

We went to the woodpecker for the first time on 22nd sept. We had booked a table for the carvery for 2 p.m but arrived a little early. Staff were welcoming and we had a drink at the bar before being taken to our table.We had a choice of three meats along with roast and new potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, roast parsnips, broccoli, roast onions, Yorkshire, stuffing and gravy. There was a choice of two gravies, poultry and beef and sauces too.The food was very fresh and very hot which was a treat as at a lot of carveries it is lukewarm. They serve in settings which is how the food stays fresh and hot. We was offered a good choice of puddings but were stuffed full to bursting so decided not to have one. All of the puddings are home made and looked delicious. Maybe next time as there will definitely be a next time.100% well worth a visit and I have heard that the liver and bacon is to die for.

Last minute booking, but no regrets. Lovely room, good food and great service. There was a good selection on the menu and the food was plentiful. It was well cooked and nicely presented. The garden area was nice to sit out in afterwards.

Nice entrance approach,very nice decor, happy staff, have good knowledge of Menu. Good choice of " 2 for " offers as well as normal menu, good portions on plates. Outstanding value for money, 4starters,4 mains,3 sweets, 6 drinks inc; water, less than £55, I even asked if the bill was right!! and it was. A sort of restaraunt,bar,pub, working mens club, but it all blends together very well. Dont know who owns it, but full marks to you and all your staff,we will spread the word.If you dont know the area, cant park outside unless " blue " holder, but there is parking on the square at the bottom of the hill.

Been here a couple of times now and always loved it. very friendly staff and very large and airy environment. There is a bar to one side which is very quiet with happy staff behind it and another bar next to the restaurant in the same building.The waitress is very good at keeping the restaurant nice and peaceful. The servings are nice and big and taste terrific. Amazing gravy! Steak and ale pie actually tastes of ale and the bangers with the bangers and mash are superb and Big. Each time I have been I have enjoyed my meal but still look longingly at the rest of the families choices. Very good value, quick service but relaxed atmosphere. Will keep going.
