We were staying locally to visit a close family relative who is in hospital. After a day long visit we returned to our rental tired and hungry and saw there was a pub at the end of the road. For me there are three essential ingredients for a perfect pub - real fire, friendly locals and olde world decor. The Angel offers this and so much more - great food and to cap it all off a brass band playing carols. Aptly named, I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. Just perfect.

Amazing and unexpected find! 100% recommend to anyone passing Yarwell. Quirky pub with friendly staff and locals. I LOVE THE ANGEL INN! It really isn’t difficult to see how much effort is put in to creating such a friendly and engaging environment - there is no place me and my dad would rather be on a Friday night. The second you step through the door you are greeted with a warm welcome and a smile. Inside the pub, the decor is so charming and unique; and the garden out back (where you can often see live music!) is the perfect place to enjoy the sun -albeit rare in this country haha. And to top it off, the food is delicious (especially the waffles)! This is not a five star pub- its a ten star pub! One of the only pubs in England that maintains the proper old pub feel- the decor, music, and atmosphere are second to none. Probably the best pub in the galaxy, run by the nicest people in the world 💜 P.S: listen to The Supercalas on Spotify if you want to get your ears a one way ticket to heaven 😎 Proper top tier music.

The Angel Inn is the epitome of great old English pub with character charm and real ales and cider. We popped in for a refresher whilst cycling the local area to be greeted with warm hospitality from genuine people. Everywhere you go there are little bits of character with a decent size garden at the back. Ticks all the boxes of a great old English pub.

DO NOT GO HERE. Went to a lovely campsite in Yarwell and wanted to watch the Euro Finals at a pub. When we came in with our group of friends, we attempted to order drinks and watch the game but was refused entry and argued with. One of the workers came over and began raising his voice stating that we had to buy an alcoholic drink. My sober friend who clearly didn't want to purchase an alcoholic beverage was kicked out of the pub, and another was peer pressured into buying a drink he didnt want. A horrible atmosphere with horrible workers. Do not recommend.

Me and my friends are staying in a campsite close on holiday. I had just turned up to the pub with my friends to watch the Euros final. When I sat down with my friend who had a drink in hand they asked if we were going to buy drinks in a very cold tone and they didn’t even give us a chance to answer before continuing and saying we should leave if we were not intending on buying drinks. We all were intending to buy drinks just not straight away but they didn’t even give us a chance to respond so we all left. One of my friends was also told they bought a drink as we left and was told to pay for the pint they had already poured for him that he hadn’t purchased. They also were not very specific on what type of drinks we needed to buy as we assumed alcohol. Overall these were very uncomfortable and disappointing experiences for a group people who are new to the area.

Happened upon this amazingly quirky place completely by chance. It was a really sunny day and we were looking for food and a beer garden. From the front, the Angel looks small and there's no mention of either food or a beer garden. We popped inside and asked. Yes they were serving food and garden 'have we? We have the BEST beer garden in the area. "Was the reply, and boy, was he right! Out at the back, there is a beautiful, sheltered garden decorated with eclectic furniture - picnic tables, circular pods, planters, and lots of greenery. There was also a speaker playing reggae music to accompany our lunch. I had beef chilli on chips and my wife scampi, both meals were fabulous and the service excellent. The pub itself is like a work of art with memorabilia everywhere you look and imaginative touches, such as a step made out of dominoes. Fabulous find.

Nick and Di Lander have tirelessly run this much celebrated and characterful pub with dedication, passion and flair for around twenty years. Situated in the heart of the quaint, albeit quiet village of Yarwell, The Angel Inn is fondly regarded as one of the best pubs in the area and a vital community asset to the local people it serves. Voted by CAMRA as ‘Cider Pub of the Year’ for 2023/4; The Angel offers more than just a very intimate and relaxed atmosphere in which to drink their selection of quality ciders, beers, wines and spirits. The decor is fairly traditional, with some neat details, touches and themes, particularly motorsport and music. There’s ample seating throughout the cosy premises, including several upright bar stools, sofas and table arrangements in the main bar area, as well as having a side bar with more table seating. Standard pub grub is served in the evening and whilst not necessarily inspired, is uniformly tasty, filling and good value. They also boast a fun games room with a pool table, fruit machines and other clever distractions, as well as a jukebox packed with tried and tested songs and the welcome encouragement to play them. That said, do check and make note of the diary board situated on the wall of the comfortable main bar seating area. You’ll find that The Angel plays host to a cornucopia of events including live bands, a Sunday pub quiz and even a legendary regular Kareoke night, eccentrically compared by the beautiful Carly. The Angel Inn is practically the only pub in the vicinity to offer such entertainment which is largely why it’s so adored by their numerous loyal, regular customers.

We stayed at a site down the road (Yarwell Mill) which is a ten minute walk to this little gem of a pub. The Angel Inn is quite honestly the most magical, quirky find we have come across and is just fabulous! The landlords have a uniquely fantastic sense of humour which shines throughout. Beautiful, cosy interior with a find around every corner. We loved reading all the quotes in the loos and will be taking many on board! Despite being very honest about their pub food offering and small kitchen the food was fabulous. FAR better than many pubs we have eaten in and who shout about their offering. The locals were so welcoming and lovely. We went on a Sunday evening as a party of three adults and a child which was also karaoke night from 9pm - what a fantastic welcoming atmosphere. Can't recommend this unique find enough. A perfect little gem in a beautiful little village. We hope to be back in future.

We were staying on the Yarwell Mill campsite and nipped in for a cheeky lunchtime drink and snack. Based on our experience we then returned for the evening karaoke fun. As per other reviews, one glance at the walls and the passage on the menu tells you there's a sense of humour running through the core of the pub. As a middle-aged group it ticked all the right boxes for us and certainly raised a smile. Service was friendly, with a good deal of banter. Our snacks were tasty and prompt. It just so happened that it was karaoke night, which we joined in with and almost became locals for the night. Great fun and a proper mix of tunes being sung, we could have gone on all night. Just a short stagger back to the caravans, all of us agreeing it'd been a fantastic find. We will definitely be back, if they'll have us after our singing obviously!

We were made very welcome, including our black lab, then sitting on the bench outside the front to enjoy our drinks & a packet of crisps in the late summer sunshine. In an area heavily (over) populated with gastro pubs (nice enough I guess) we're kicking ourselves for not trying The Angel Inn before now. This is a lovely little pub, tucked away in the village of Yarwell. The eclectic collection of items on display make it an interesting place to visit. The staff are all very polite and chatty and the service is good. This is not a fast food restaurant, so be prepared to wait a reasonable time for your food to be lovingly cooked by their team. They have a good selection of real ale and a choice of lagers for those who like a pint or three. Spirits and liquors are plentiful. As they stress on their website, they are primarily a pub, which serves food also. As such, their menu isn’t too large, but what food they do offer is wholesome and plentiful. If you’re after a jus, parfait or any other pretentious fayre, you’ll be disappointed. On the other hand, if you prefer good old home cooked ham, tasty burgers, jacket potatoes and other traditional dishes, you should be more than happy here. Although this was our first time eating here, we are certain to return in the near future.

Dwindling in numbers rapidly this is an almost extint species. A village pub. It's a pub that serves food and not as most are now a restaurant that tolerates drinkers. A comment on here accused the food of being mediocre. Not sure that is strictly accurate, basic certainly but mediocre is a bit harsh. If you want sauteed hedgehog with wilted nettles and beetroot jus, or squirrel au gratin with stir fried doc leaves and a creosote reduction then you are in the wrong place. Many places locally will cater for these needs if you so wish. One observation about this pub is that it's possibly in the wrong country my family coming from Ireland it has a more celtic feel with it being informal friendly, dog friendly and musical. Occasional impromptu song nights with Ukelele and guitars are common. The Kareoke nights are very entertaining. I used to hate the damn thing before coming to the Kareoke here I had only done it once before on a very drunken night in a bar in Bermuda about 30 years ago. To be honest I use it as a way of rehearsing performing in our village panto, but for a small venue there are some really good voices. The odd song has been adapted into a pub anthem. Dave's version of Sweet Caroline invites audience participation and possible legal action by Neil Diamond. IF you want a pub as they used to be entertaining, friendly, informal occasionally musical, even educational with the quiz nights then this is one of the few left. My only regret is it;s a dying breed of pub, but perhaps this has given the niche market it needs to survive. Long may it continue.

We were on holiday between Wansford and Yarwell, and found this fantastic pub on the off chance. From the outside it looks like a small pub, but that is deceptive. It's an independent pub, with a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and where dogs are allowed. The service was very friendly, polite, efficient, and we felt like nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, and good value for money, and tasted like it was freshly made to order, in our opinion. Just as we were leaving, a gentleman was about to play some live music. As a family of 4 we had a fantastic evening, and would thoroughly recommend this pub to anyone and everyone.

Fantastic, traditional British pub. Lovely staff. Fantastic beer garden. Good, unpretentious pub food. Wish it was close enough to be our local, we'd be in every weekend!

Beautifully refurbished, local pub at the end of a pretty walk from Glapthorn. Excellent choice of local beer and a wine list from local wine merchants. Small but good lunch and breakfast menu. We had the baked Camembert with a glass of decent red. First time I’ve ever had a Camembert and had too much bread! Can’t recommend this place enough. Use local or lose local!!

had participated in a event recently there with family and friends, some of the desert that was paid for was not served. heating wasn't working. staff were very nice but they need to communicate if something is not working or not happening, and refund if you don't serve what package you sold to your customers.
