For the Love of Wine in East Northamptonshire

Went to the wine bar with my wife to celebrate our anniversary, it was a Saturday lunch time but very quiet, there was a group outside enjoying the sunshine but not warm enough to join them. We had the cheese board which was excellent, my wife had a diet coke and I had a couple of glasses of wine. The bill was just under £40 which was reasonable. I hope that with the weather improving they get more people in at lunch time although I understand they were fully booked for the evening.

Great Good Friday! Amazing afternoon and catch up with friends. We opened for the ploughman’s board to share. Everything was fresh and delicious! Cocktails were great and wine beautiful. The music was absolutely brilliant some 80’s tunes that I haven’t heard for ages! Great music taste ! We are already planning our return!

Lovely visit, the cheeseboard was great and full of flavour! However, we were after a certain wine on the menu which we pointed at and thought we were going to be having; only to find out when the bill came that it was a different wine we were given that was £12 more expensive. Wasn’t too impressed about that I have to say as felt we were a little cheated, but what could we do? We didn’t realise the wine we’d been given was a more expensive one until we received our bill. I did quibble it with the waitress who told me it was the £39 wine, but that was most definitely not what we wanted but in-fact a £27 wine near the top of the list. So my only word of advice would be to double check and make sure the wine you’re given is in fact the one you have asked for, as I would not like anyone else to have a similar experience. Other than this issue, I have still given the place four stars as I hope it was an honest mistake and miscommunication on their part. The food itself was great and the ambience of the place is nice. Staff are friendly but like I say, the bill issue did put a slight dampener on it for me.

We came here early evening on a Friday night. We were the only table in there when we arrived, but the bar suddenly got lively as it reached the 18:30 mark. There isn’t a car park but there’s a few streets around that you’re able to park on. The décor was lovely, very quirky and I loved how there were funny quotes dotted around. It looks like it’s an old church/chapel as it has high ceilings with wooden beams and beautiful big window at the front. The lady who served us was friendly, attentive and informative. Although there was only three of us, we opted for the Christmas Platter for 4 People and at £57.99 (I believe) it was very good value for money! You have everything on there, ranging from pigs in blankets, stuffing, pork pie and cheese. There’s also a ‘sweet’ section with mince pies, stollen and Christmas Cake. Service charge wasn’t included in the bill, but we decided to leave a tip as our server was lovely. Overall, I’d highly recommend for an evening with friends, and I love the idea of graze boards instead of heavy meals because it can really lay heavy on you especially when drinking alcohol.

I cannot recommend this place enough! Came here with my partner for a date night. Firstly, the vibe was perfect, music playing in the background, lovely decor and a really cosy feel. Everything was very clean and to a high standard. The staff were all very welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable. It was lovely to have a chat with the owner. We shared the Mexican platter, which was well presented and plentiful. The quality of the cocktails stood out, they were the best we’ve tasted and would highly recommend. We’ve had an amazing experience and will definitely be returning. Thank you.

Had a lovely evening here as usual !! From the moment you arrive are made to feel welcome by the polite, friendly and humorous staff. Prices are no different in fact probably slightly cheaper than similar establishments and food and drink is of very high quality. A cheese and meat board for 4 was plenty for 5 of us and very well presented. Having done the bottomless brunch before I can 100% say we definitely got our money’s worth, our glasses topped up when empty without having to ask I guess it depends how quickly you drink it for the amount you get and the platter is a platter not nibbles and more than enough to go round, there are lovely side orders if this is not enough. As for the music it is very much just background and conversation can clearly be heard but just adds to the ambiance. This is a beautiful intimate setting and I enjoyed it so much I have booked a large party for a birthday soon. I’m sure we may have to squeeze in but we will have the best time I have no doubt.

We were really disappointed when we met friends here. The customer service was limited, no smiles involved. Music was so loud we chose to leave. Overpriced drinks and platter, sadly no return for us, shame as it is local.

We booked for a group of 16 and we were placed in an area for 12. Luckily 3 of our party couldn’t make it and we had to squeeze in a chair. Food was not enough between 13 people, two small platters that you couldn’t even call it nibbles. The Prosecco was ok and was topped up regularly. The staff that served us was abrupt and rude to multiple members of the group. We did not ask for the bill but it was slammed on the table and we were told to get out in 10 minutes. I understand there is a 2 hour limit but there are kinder ways of asking. This was £35 each and consisted of 3 glasses of Prosecco and next to no nibbles per person. Looking at other reviews these “nibbles” were the same size for a party of 2, so we should have had at least 4 of them. Most of the puddings were not available and we weren’t made aware of this until after we ordered. We did not raise our concerns on the day as we were celebrating a friends birthday. Half our party had too much to drink and were merry thankfully. A tip was left by the birthday girl as she was not aware of the issues that occurred. There was also an issue with our deposit as they didn’t take the full amount paid off the bill. This was resolved at the time. However I wouldn’t have left this review if it wasn’t for a poor response from the owner. One of our party left a review and the owner blamed her for being “too drunk” when she had only 1 drink and her issues were valid. I then privately messaged the owner with my own experiences and instead of apologising or giving any form of customer service he instead told me that the people who weren’t drinking shouldn’t have come… it was a birthday party, does that mean we exclude non drinkers? They appear to not care about customers or any problems that arise. I cannot understand why a simple “I’m sorry you experienced this” is so hard. Instead the owner appears to get defensive and attack the customers who had a poor experience. I would advise this place might be nice for a party of 2 but would not recommend for large groups.

Food is amazing, staff are friendly and the venue is beautiful we love sitting outside in the courtyard with the electric fires and the cosy blankets that they supply

Advertised live music Friday night we booked a table and went, asked the staff when is the live music on later on they said no live music it was on Saturday night😡 posted on Facebook they just deleted our post without replying, we won't be going again.

Been a couple of times with friends. Always god wine and platters on offer. A good selection of spirits and cocktails too. The Christmas platter is lovely. Venue is cosy and welcoming. Great atmosphere too. Outdoor courtyard area is nice when the weather plays ball too.

An evening of live music, drinks, food and amazing company. What more is there to life? David and the team are always so attentive and welcoming (unfortunately Lorraine was not there). Food was on point

Fabulous lunch with friends today. We had a lovely afternoon and excellent service from Lorraine and David. Excellent menu with plenty of choice for food and drinks, and a fabulous dessert menu also which is always very tempting. Will definitely return

We ordered the cheese board with meat for 2 Great selection and all very fresh inc the bread. The Coctails were lovely and the Prosecco was great too. The service was amazing and cery friendly. We will be back very soon, The new Mexicon offering looks very appetising when we saw it, this will be our choice to try next time. The atmostphere in there was great, buzzing in fact I wish the owners well with this great hidden gem. Go and visit this place, you wont be dissapointed i promise!!

The staff kindly managed to fit my friend and I in on a busy Saturday night, we had been slack in remembering to book a table! We arrived slightly late and they were more than accommodating for this, making sure we had a drink straight away. We ordered a sharing board for two. We opted for the Wensleydale with cranberries, the Cheddar and the Devon (?) Red which was smoked. All three cheeses were amazing and came with crackers, grapes, chutneys, honey, breadsticks and lots of garnish. There were salad leaves and tomatoes which seemed a little out of place, and I would have liked to have seen some cucumber somewhere. We also ordered a side of the bread with dipping oil and balsamic but this never came. We didn't bother to chase it up after seeing the enormous amount that you get with the cheese board anyway, so no harm no foul. All in all, we had a great night. Their customer service is personal and the idea of a cheese and wine bar is amazing. It's a hidden gem!
