This is coming from a person who normally don't eat fish and chips..they have converted me ...Absolutely delicious . The food is first class, batter so crispy, fish is white and cooked to perfection. The staff are always very welcoming, and always willing to cook your fish to your requirements. Never disappointed we never go anywhere else

Having used this fish shop for many years, the quality has definitely declined over the last few months to a standard I will not use again.

Unbelievable Cod size and a mountain of chips. It was incredible value. The best in the county if not the country. I'll never go anywhere else.

Fish has always been nice but never rated the chips..curry sauce is nice too..my local but wouldn't be my top choice

Food was awful. Worst fish and chips in Castleford. Curry sauce tasted watered down and the mushy peas was awful. Staff hygiene was poor and sneezed around food. Continued to handle food when had cold without washing hands and had attitude problems when it comes to disabilities and constantly felt ignored.

Usually really nice but tonights chips tasted old and we're cold

Asked for sausage and chips and 2 bags of chips, which came to £10. Then found when I got home, they'd given me sausage and chips twice and 2 bags of chips! The chips were raw, so ended up eating the only thing that was edible which was the sausage. Its fair to say, that was my first and last visit.

My first and probably my last visit. My order wasn't correct. Ended up putting most of it in the bin as I asked for a well done fish and the one I received wasn't even warm.

Never had a bad portion yet. Chips are cooked to perfection. The fish is battered to the right amount and the fish inside is flakey and tender. Just how it should be. Typically depending on the size of the queue and time you will be waiting approx 5-10mins. The only fish and chip shop I go to in Castleford and highly recommend that others do too 🙂

The food is really good. The only problem I find is that every time I go in I always have to wait for fish. I'm not the only one. I don't think they ever get enough each batch. Also i went in tonight on the way home. Someone went In and asked for a small fish. They put one in the fryer for her. There were 3 normal size fish ready and they told me to wait a minute. To my disbelief they served the woman with the small fish before me and mine was ready. I'm sorry but that's the final straw and I won't be going in there again. It seems they put the regular customers before anyone else.

Called in to Smawthorne Lane Fish Shop for the first time in years. I am afraid it was a disappointment,The chips were cold and the fish was very overcooked and dry. Used to love this chippy. 😔😔
