Got confirmation booking on website. Came with a 4 year old to be told sorry we’ve cancelled you booking and sent you a email. I understand they sent an email but who really checks emails through the weekend the system shouldn’t confirm your booking if it isn’t guaranteed. Definitely need to update there system. Good reviews for food and I’m not giving them a bad review for that as I was looking forward to a meal here, just disappointed driving all the way over to be told no we have cancelled

Came here for my mum's birthday meal for a table of 6. We were quickly seated on arrival and our drinks were served within minutes of us arriving. Our orders were promptly taken from a friendly member of staff. The starters, main and dessert were served hot and delicious and no-one seemed unsatisfied with their food. Our drinks were kept topped up and there were full bellies all around. Would definitely recommend the steak and ale pie, the meat was some of the most flavoursome and tender I've ever had in a pie. Atmosphere was nice and tables were set a good distance apart witb plenty of room. A lovely evening and meal. Will definitely be back.

First time trying here tonight. Visited to celebrated a special occasion of a family member and was lucky enough to have the private room. The staff were fabulous and accommodating when we wanted to decorate the room. The evening was absolutely perfect, the food was brilliant and the service we received from all the staff especially Will was the best Iv ever experienced in a restaurant! We went here last night for our early Xmas family night out and what a treat! I had beef shin from the specials board and it was delicious. Everyone else on the table really enjoyed their meal also. We will definitely return when back in the area

I have nothing bad to say about this hotel. The rooms are are excellent.. everyone is so friendly. The meals are unbearable as good as any high class restaurant. We stayed for one night on the way to York, lovely! Our room was beautifully decorated, comfortable beds and very clean, it was on the ground floor and had patio doors leading out on to a little garden where you can sit. As the weather was lovely and the bar had stopped serving food (Sunday night) we ordered drinks from the bar and a carryout from the nearby Greek restaurant and sat in the garden, superb! All the staff were very friendly and the little place had a lovely atmosphere. The breakfast was a bit basic if you didn’t want a cooked breakfast, however it was served with a cheerful smile and I got 2 lovely croissants. I would highly recommend this little place, very good value and a happy place to stay 🥰

We ate here on a Saturday evening and am so pleased we did! I absolutely loved my food , as did all of us. I ordered moules marinieres to start with and then ox cheek in red wine with horseradish mash and veg- both were absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, seasoned and presented really beautifully. Fantastic service too and plenty of choice on the specials board, as well as the main menu. My husband ordered steak and also commented on how tasty it was (though he'd have preferred a plate as opposed to a 'board' , but that's a very small point!). 100% recommend.

Cancelled our booking on the day before the visit. We had friends driving almost 100 miles for lunch with us. My wife booked the table over a month ago on their app. She got an email on the night before to say that the booking had been cancelled with no explanation whatsoever. She called immediately when she read the message and got no sense from the person on the phone. We have visited here many times, with many friends. Not one of us will ever be back. Disgusting service

Why cannot this or any bar / restaurant display prices on food menu ? Instead of numbers. Where is the price / number results. Found the bar very interesting but no prices is a no no with me I'm afraid.

The Food was Good but the Pricing was Expensive. And Having to Pay 4.50 for Potato’s on top of £18 for Belly Pork really stuck in my throat. Drinks were reasonably Priced.

My partner and I stayed at the Mews Hotel, Ossett, last weekend as we were going to a family celebration on the Sunday. We ate in the hotel on the Saturday night and had two tastey breakfasts. It is a lovely hotel with very friendly, helpful staff, good food and a good atmosphere. I also loved the quirky decor in the bar. Thank you

Wow what a gem of a place. Great hotel friendly staff always happy to help and just beyond amazing food that was to die for. Great starter, pork medallions partner had swordfish for mains finished with cheeseboard, hats off to the chef food was lush. If any down side i would say the offer of a full cooked breakfast would be great but the ladies was good with the continental breakfast, very happy and helpful. We will definitely be back.

Comfortable and very pleasant stay will use again when I'm next up in that area for work, would recommend to anyone as it was reasonable rates.

Visited for the first time since Covid. Fabulous. Recommend the pork belly v highly but you won’t fit a pudding in if you have it. The crackling is delicious but could endanger fillings as v crispy. A couple of tasty pints were sampled as well.

Saturday evening with friends booked in the private annex room. Great for a large group with seating for up to 12 / 14 or so & private smoking area outside the patio doors in the back garden. Excellent choice of food with standard menu + a good number of starter and main chef specials. Tuna & Scallop starter superb ! Staff were excellent and really attentive, couldn't fault the food or the service - well done everyone at the Mews.

After many years of travelling on business , The Mews is without doubt the best place I have ever stayed at , based on the all round excellent experience . This is such a great hotel , magnificent food of a very high standard and reasonably priced , superb , cosy bar and restaurant , professional and friendly staff , great selection of beers and wines and lovely , stylish and quality furnished accomodation at a great price . Cannot recommend highly enough , outstanding place , which is much enjoyed whenever I visit .

Completely safe and recommended For those nervous of coming out after lockdown.This was only my second meal out after lockdown and I was so impressed I had to share, there was sanitiser available everywhere and the restaurant was spaced out in order to ensure everyone felt comfortable, the table service was quick and attentive so people didn’t feel the need to get up for drinks or anything and as always the food was on point, completely enjoyable evening feeling totally relaxed and at ease, The Mews will no doubt be my 3rd meal out after lockdown as well.

Myself and a colleague booked 2 rooms at The Mews in Ossett. We never expected 5* food and hospitality but that’s what we received. Owner, Manager and staff all ensuring that everyone was 100% happy. Unbeatable food, service and value. Our rooms were so clean - why stay in a chain when you can be treated like a valued local.

Stayed here for one night with friends, a wonderful little pub with accommodation a short drive into Wakefield.Rooms are clean and well kept with tea and coffee facilities. The pub itself is how a old English pub should be a mixture of locals and people visiting. The food was excellent definitely recommend although we were a little disappointed with breakfast maybe because it had been built up by people telling us how good it was. But a really nice place to stay would recommend to anyone.

Have eaten here a couple of times now and on each occasion the food and service have been excellent. Most recent visits have been tables of 9 and this hasn’t caused any issues.The food is all home cooked and fresh which is a real plus point.The slow cooked belly pork and lamb shank are both 100% + delicious!The portions are really good and overall everything is excellent value for money.Happily recommend this place to anyone and will be making return visits

So, we stayed over because we had gone to cap house colliery earlier in the day, we had already seen the images of the food and we knew instantly we were gonna stay there for dinner! The whole place has this lovely cosy homely feel, and the food was unreal! The room was a superior double and was just perfect, the bed was so cosy I didn’t want to get up in the morning ! The staff were so lovely as well and I’m just gutted we had to leave before breakfast but I’m sure it would have been just as amazing as dinner ! I’m sure we will be back!

I attended Saturday evening and was immediately confronted by someone clearly intoxicated. Went to the manager Paul who wasn't very interested in what I had to say. Booked table with my wife and daughter and we simply walked out.

My family and I experienced what can only be explained as the best ever Christmas Dinner at the Mews this year, The staff were absolutely amazing working hard and smiling effortless at the same time creating a beautiful festive atmosphere, The Restaurant has an amazing unique feel all around it with the quirky hand picked memorabilia placed selectively all around the dining and seating area making the room welcoming and interesting.The food was amazing and did not disappoint in any way, there was a great selection of starters to suit everyone and then there was the main course, the meat melted as you ate it and there was defiantly no shortage of vegetables, we all had one of the lovely desserts from selection board to top the meal off, everything was cooked and presented beautifully and it all tasted as good as it looked, an amazing day. Thank you.

Superb Saturday night out for table of 6. Great atmosphere in traditional pub with excellent food, service and staff. All 6 of us had beautifully cooked meals, including rack of lamb, garlic chicken and braised steak with horseradish mash. Will return for Sunday lunch sometime in the new year.

Continues to have outstanding food/staff and atmosphere. We had beautiful queenie scallops tonight, sweet and perfectly cooked. Smoked cod loin which was so tender and flaky - just the best restaurant in at least 30 miles.

Visited in June with family to attend a funeral. A warm welcome, decent accommodation and amazing breakfast all at a reasonable price. First class is the only way to describe the Mews, the staff are brilliant and can't do enough for you and the food is to die for. If you are thinking of trying it you won't be disappointed but book a table well in advance as it is so popular.

Stayed here for two nights end of August. Very helpful staff especially the morning ladies. We have two large greyhounds who were made totally welcome. Breakfasts Excellent as were the Evening meals. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Visited on a Thursday night with a colleague for 1 night. Wonderful find and will definitely return if I am in the area or even within 50 miles! My room (No7) was small but perfectly formed and very clean. Now for the best bit - FOOD. Dinner was amazing we skipped starters as we had had a slightly later lunch but there were a lot of temping choices. My colleague had a Haddock and Prawn dish with veg and loved it. I opted for a chicken dish which was so delicious I can't stop thinking about it. Chicken so moist and tender and so flavorful. Veg was cooked just right no mushy nastiness. Both of us struggled to finish but the portions were not ridiculously large that there was a great deal of waste. Suffice to say there was no room for dessert which is sad as the choices were not your usual time honoured suspects.

Called in bank holiday Monday and had a great afternoon, eating from prepared to order bbq and drinking a fine selection of beers from the bar. Respect to the chef who worked so hard in the incredible heat. We will be back.

For work I normally stay In a chain hotel. But it was suggested trying the mews. I can honest say when I come this way again I would only stay here the breakfast is second to non and the evening meal is really lovely. The staff are polite and helpful. We have been to the Mews on many occasions for the odd drinks to a family meal and have never been disappointed, the surroundings in the dining area are unique and very well thought out, the staff are always extremely helpful and accommodating and the food is amazing all freshly made by the resident.

Ok only popped in for a drink but was greeted by a lovely young lady called Brooke. We had our drinks and saw the food people had ordered which looked gorgeous so will def be returning to sample some food.

A fantastic meal in a lovely setting, Bar cosy and displays a great collection of memorabilia. Plenty of outside seating. Food is fresh and very tasty. Would highly reccomend. It’s become our regular.

Visited for lunch today- beef stroganoff is strips of fillet steak, mushrooms and sometimes onions in a creamy brandy sauce served with rice . We were served fatty , tough large chunks of stewing steak with peppers, courgettes and onions in tasteless gravy with the most unappetising cupful of white mush - supposed to be rice . Always been highly satisfied with the food at the mews but today was a big disappointment .

Our first visit here for a meal. We wanted somewhere we could go with the dog. We were not disappointed. Friendly helpful staff who looked after all our needs. The food was amazing. Beautifully cooked, excellent and quick service. Alfie (our dog) was given his own selection of meat from the kitchen. We were joined by a group of Irish visitors here to celebrate Peters 50th. They helped make the night. A friendly group who made us feel welcome and part of their celebrations. A brilliant night, we will be back. My partner and I stayed in room 16,which is nicely furnished with a great stone wall on one side. Fresh and clean bathroom that's up to date with a large shower and modern fittings. We had patio doors onto a herbaceous bordered garden.

Fabulous meal in a warm, comfortable and friendly environment. Staff were helpful explaining the menu. Lovely choice of wine to compliment the meal.I choose the chicken breast the garlic spinach sauce was delicious and light. We are definitely going again in a couple of weeks .

Popped into The Mews for a Monday lunch half term treat. Both my husband and I had the beef sandwich. I first I was disappointed in his choice as I couldn’t share taste of something different but when lunch arrived I was relieved as I didn’t want to share my fabulous sandwich with a generous portion of salad and the additional yummy chips. Beef was perfection - melt in the mouth with just the right amount of pink. The host is funny, friendly and made what could have been a quiet Monday lunchtime a welcoming warm atmosphere. For our next visit we have our eye on the homemade comfort food on Sundays from 16.30. - 19.15. A time when not a lots goes on but is a key time for our family dining. Plus they play the coolest French tunes.

Went for a meal with a group of friends on a Wednesday night (fish night) and had a really enjoyable evening. All the meals we had were great and the service and ambience were excellent! Would definitely recommend a visit! :)

Visited as a party of 6 on a Saturday night (table was booked prior to visiting). Had a selection of starters and mains and all were very good. Belly pork was excellent. Would definitely visit again for that alone.

A pleasure to write this review to credit a fantastic team that bring together an outstanding enterprise. I am a regular guest at the hotel and from day one I have enjoyed the fine service, food and accommodation on offer. These establishments are few and far between, bringing together regional warmth by all the team members that combine to run this place brilliantly headed by Managers Paul and George. Not forgetting Mel, Brook, and the fine Chefs in residence. the food is all freshly made from locally sourced quality produce The menu is just what you would like to eat from comfort food classics to fine cuisine. The best fish and chips outside of Whitby and even the Curry dishes match any I have experienced in quality Indian restaurant's .. not to mention the Pie nights, fish dishes and in house a la Carte menu ...all exceptional. To top this quality Ales, well researched fine wines and Champagnes. The staff are very welcoming and friendly to the loyal locals and business professional guests alike, noted is how many European guests choose to stay here which is a credit to the place .. we need more ambassador's like the Mews Hotel in these times.

If you need a relaxing break The Mews Hotel is the place for you. The bar is very cozy with the fire and is very popular. We stayed 2 nights and had a very clean, comfortable and quiet room and a good nights sleep. The food was excellent with good choices. All the staff are very friendly and helpful and Brook and George looked after us during our stay. There is plenty of car parking which is also a plus.

What a brilliant evening yet again at The Mews. I had a 16oz T-bone steak that was out of this world and Mrs M had a rack of lamb, again outstanding. Don't miss this next Year so make a note everyone!

My colleague from France was visiting for work and I booked him into the hotel for 3 nights accommodation. The hotel has a very warm and friendly atmosphere with an excellent bar. We dined in the restaurant and the food was superb. Genuine home cooked food of a really high quality. The slow cooked belly pork with crispy crackling is beautiful. I would highly recommend the Mews if your looking for an excellent hotel bar and restaurant with a warm cosy atmosphere.
