Food was bland, mass produced and microwaved, rushed out as your on a time limit. Cramped dining area, but the staff are lovely.

Came tonight for a christmas get together with friends. Fabulous food, fabulous service. Couldn't ask for.more

Lovely place, amazing food, very reasonably priced for the quality and flavour . The staff are very attentive and polite. Drinks selection could be better, but this is an absolute hidden gem and a must visit in Wakefield

Fantastic place with excellent food, efficient service and very good value for money. I had a starter (pigs in blankets), a beautifully cooked pork belly with a celeriac slaw and a cheese board for dessert for just over £25. Fantastic.

Lovely little restaurant serving top quality classics, often with a twist. Come here relatively regularly, always very good. They are very accommodating for our children, we come with a toddler to an early sitting and the staff are amazing with her.

Fabulous experience, food was excellent and service exemplary, only thing not to my liking was the coffee but that is my personal taste and they didn't charge for it, wii definitely return.

We received a voucher from our letting agents to try a local restaurant. We really enjoyed our meal . We had some snacks, starters, mains and an extra side . I had an aperitif drink and a wine , my husband had a cider . Without the voucher it would have been around £75. Service was good at arrival and throughout but slow in the end when wanting to pay. It’s a pretty restaurant with a nice atmosphere. I’d recommend as a good restaurant in Wakefield.

Our very good friends took us for a meal here to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary. The meal was fantastic, very good food and the atmosphere was great, will definitely make another booking.

Cannot believe we have only just discovered this gem! Food was the best we have had out in a very long time and the ambience of the place is perfect. Already looking at booking another 2 visits for special occasions. Our new favourite restaurant!

This is 3rd or 4th time I've been and every time I've thought what a gem of place it is. The whole experience is excellent, from front of house team who are attentive but not intrusive, to the fabulous food and atmosphere.

We went for a Sunday lunch and the ingredients were great, the beef was a prime cut, cooked to perfection and then came the gravy what a disappointment, it tasted like bland Bisto gravy! Such a shame to coat such lovely food in it. I appreciate it’s difficult to get enough meat juices to make the required amount of gravy, but there has to be alternative ways. Make an additional batch with some beef bones? Or some other alternative but what is being served is grim!

We are French and our English friends invited us this Wednesday because it is steak day to please me. I was very pleasantly surprised, the meat was very good and the cooking was perfect, although I had doubts when asking for blue cooking. The American style steak arrived superbly cooked ok, very good meat and the sauce very balanced. If you like good red meat come by or rather book on Wednesday.

Fab food, superb staff and very nice wine ! All in all a great night out and a place i would recommend !

Lovely little restaurant with a great normal menu but now seems to be lacking the veggie / vegan menu they used to have. Enjoyed my meal here but the vegans in our group were super disappointed.

Overall a very lovely dinner. Iris seem to be constantly evolving their menu and trying new things, and because of this it's a fun place to eat something you otherwise might not. The starters and mains we ordered were each interesting and different in their own way, and it's clear the chef is experimenting with flavours and textures. The staff were friendly and attentive, and it was a very pleasant evening. Would definitely visit again.

We had a booking early doors on Saturday evening from the moment we walked in the staff were amazing, the menu and the offers that were offered were explained, once we decided on are food it was delivered in no time , absolutely delicious for all 3 courses, would have no hesitation in recommending this place

Booked Sunday lunch, son and I, at 1.30pm. It was delicious. Atmosphere was lovely, busy but not too crowded with easy dinner music in the background. Had beef that came with individual vegetables and I asked for separate gravy. Glass of Pinot and a diet coke - very good. Puddings were cake and a chocolate bomb which were both nice. Coffees then, perfect. Service was just right and the whole vibe was just spot on. Thank you!

Been here many times but this fantastic place can be overseen. The service from the team is friendly and natural and to say they are younger they certainly make you feel relaxed and at home. The menu is not exhausting and we went for the 2 course option however it was a Wednesday and they offer a steak menu on that day. The food we ordered was so fresh and tasty admitting we didn’t have room for desserts. The cost with drinks was really great value for money and we left them a good well deserved tip.

Disappointing given the rating. Food was medicocre - spaghetti was too thick; terrine a solid slab with no toast or equivalent; no gluten free alternatives and menu inflexible (you have to pay for at least 2 courses). Staff were pleasant but there was no attempt at redress for the crabshell found in the 'spaghetti'. No wifi and unable to include tip in card payment.

A lovely evening with friends eating good food in a lovely environment. Steak was delicious, lamb curry was so tender. We'll be back

Somebody shared their Sunday roast online and I had to try it! It tasted as good as it looked. I went for the beef and had the option of medium or well done, went for medium and it was cooked to perfection as were all the trimmings. Had the golden snitch and peach Eton mess for dessert and both were delicious. Staff were all very attentive and friendly, would definitely return.

We've tried so many times to eat here, but because we're not organised we could never get in, booked up. We got in tonight and it was so wonderful, the food was divine. I would definitely recommend. Staff excellent!

Absolutely amazing place! Food, service and atmosphere is fantastic.

Nice little restaurant, 5 times someone came to the table, can you leave us to enjoy our night please. food was good and well presented but the pork dish overall with a fair bit of fat in it needed something sharp to cut through it, perhaps a rhubarb ketchup or compote instead of the mayonnaise type sauce. We're in the Wakefield rhubarb triangle.

Absolutely amazing food, the best I’ve had in Wakefield. Me and the family have been several times now because the service is always stellar and every item we have ordered has been incredible. Staff are also always very friendly and helpful.

I had a fantastic dining experience at Iris! The blue cheese arancini for starter was a standout with its well-balanced flavors and lovely texture. The confit duck leg for the main course and the golden snitch for dessert were equally delicious. The service from the staff was excellent. We will definitely be returning for more delicious meals! There was also a good atmosphere in the restaurant… it was busy but not too loud which a good selection of music playing.

We were bought a voucher for Iris and what a great present! We’d never heard of it before, but we’ll definitely be back and spreading the word. A low key little restaurant. The food was delicious and the service excellent! There was a great atmosphere as well. I’d highly recommend the blue cheese arancini and the confit duck leg - both were tasty and fairly filling. The Golden Snitch desert was a great way to end the meal!

By far my favourite restaurant in Wakefield and beyond! I have never had a less than perfect meal in this gem of a place. I cannot recommend it enough. The choices are varied to suit every taste and the dishes are beautifully presented. Perfect 10/10

Never had a bad meal here. The best Sunday roast in Yorkshire puddings to die for! Starters are a must i can never manage a pudding as well but they looks special. Staff are very attentive.

Had the Moroccan dine at home menu, So much food, excellent instructions on how to sort it and top notch! Can’t wait for the next one.

Excellent and varied menu. Very popular so need to book usually. Staff are always pleasant and if you are querying a dish they are very helpful. The Sunday lunch is highly recommended. Have been getting their weekend takeaways which you heat up at home, there have been Spanish tapas, Sunday roast, Italian food, American food etc etc. Very generous portions. Highly recommend

Sampled Sunday lunch both in the restaurant and at home recently and it’s superb. Service in the restaurant is first class, friendly and very helpful. Food delivery is super efficient, easy to prepare and absolutely delicious.

Not great. The free range chicken breast appeared to be cut of the roast chicken, rather than a freshly cooked chicken breast, and what they so the rhubarb was sacrilege. No taste at all. The waitresses need to be on a need to know basis, and not go off asking questions on everything you question 🤔.

A great small restaurant serving British food. There is a good choice on the menu and the food tastes great. If you have food intolerances they cater for you very well. Well worth a visit but book ahead because it gets very busy.

The food is always consistently good and the staff that work there are lovely and friendly. However we feel they there are a couple of too many tables crammed in recently and also it’s looking a bit tired, a bit grubby and in need of a good clean and re-paint. We do love the food there but it is a bit spoilt by this.

Me and my wife had a most excellent meal on New Year’s Eve definitely equals Michelin starred meals we have had in the past, combined with great service and Lovley atmosphere including the wonderful live singer. You must go and experience this special place.

Excellent Christmas lunch and fine service.

We had a very pleasant lunch, very reasonably priced and pleasantly presented. It was a last minute decision to go and our first visit. A friend had recommended it, but quite a while ago. We were absolutely delighted we decided to go there. Great food, nice wine. Liked it!

First visit here last night. Went for the Vegan set festive menu. 1 word; faultless. Upon arrival we were sat down and coats taken, served drinks quickly and food order taken. The 3 courses we had were out of this world. I went for the butternut squash risotto, festive dinner and golden snitch to finish. Amazing food, amazing service and very reasonable prices. Will 100% be back

First time going ,food was fantastic highly recommended it, after one bit me an my partner both said were coming back. Small menu but really good quality and lovely non alcoholic drinks. Staff warm and welcoming.

Outstanding British style bistro in the centre of Wakefield. We went on 'steak night' and were served a gastronomic feast by knowledgeable and truly friendly front of house staff. Our steaks were cooked perfectly to our requirements and the cauliflower cheese was to die for.

Food is amazing, staff all very friendly and welcoming too. Overall great venue and will be back again.

Excellent Sunday lunch and very good service. You can get a little cramped for room on tables for two. One gripe is the charge of £5 for a pint of soda water. Not a deal breaker though. Will be back for sure.

Only had 90 mins to eat Sunday lunch. Ended up not being able to have pudding as our 90 mins were up. Went elsewhere for drinks & puds!

Such a fantastic little place ...as soon as you enter the outside noise completely disappears and you are left with a lovely dining ambience. The staff were so lovely and friendly and prompt with everything they do. We had a variety of dietary needs that were all catered for. The drink available catered to all needs.tye environment was the exceptional and really added to the dining experience. We chose from the set menu and wasn't disappointed. Each course came with its own unique twist and flavours and coped to perfection. We went on for our friends birthday and we all really enjoyed ourselves. The meal was rounded off with some amazing deserts that we can definitely recommend. There gaps between courses were just right. All In all we had an amazing dining experience and would recommend it to anyone that doesn't want to go to a loud busy restaurant. We will definitely go again and the price was extremely reasonable. Thank you to all the staff for making our evening amazing.

British cuisine does not have a good reputation in continental Europe. This restaurant belies all the critics.

Excellent food with great service.

We didn't have a reservation when we arrived, but we were given a table straight away, the restaurant was cozy and the staff were attentive, my starter arrived and it was really nice, unfortunately I don't remember the name but it was calamari, I also ordered the French steak for £15 on the steak menu, it came with fries and bearnaise sauce, I asked for rare, the steak arrived, very thin, medium cooked and very fatty, it was so disappointing, I left all the fat which ment there was quite a bit left on my plate, now as a restaurant if someone had clearly left a lot of fat on the plate, I'd be asking if their was a problem, but sadly nothing was said. It wasn't a bad experience, it was just disappointing, first time customers unfortunately the last as well

To be honest, I'm lost for words. The food is first class. The flavours and seasonings are like nothing I've tasted before.....outstanding. The staff are attentive and polite. I would highly recommend the Iris. Thanks guys.

Stunning meal, myself, and my partner both went off the steak menu. I had the Argentina and she went Spanish. Both steaks were perfectly cooked and well presented. Followed by a cheese board each. The Berry spritzer and the Elderflower spritzer were both lovely and refreshing. The was just short of £60. Definitely worth a visit.

It's very nice and ok for a special event but it's way too pricey to go on a regular basis, the potato & garlic soup starter was nice but could have been a lot hotter plus they'd run out of cranberry sauce for the chicken dinner. Four starters, four adults meals & one kids meal, with sweets plus a few drinks came to £165 👍

I visited with a couple of friends for the £15 menu , I had mussels and then prawn and squid curry and although everything was cooked very well it seriously lacked seasoning and flavour ..very very bland ..it’s a shame because a great offer and had it been good would have tried other menus but sadly this won’t be happening

Some excellent food and atmosphere!

I usually can't fault this restaurant but on our last visit we were seated near the door. People coming in and out waiting for takeaway orders to be brought to them was annoying, especially when they didn't shut the door. Perhaps a pick-up point round the side or back would work better.

Used to love coming here, but since turning vegan, I've not been at all, I don't think. (I've been vegan for 6 years now). When they brought out a 3 course vegan menu for Christmas, we jumped straight on it, and I suggested it to the entire family. The vegan food was so good, flavours were on point & we didn't feel like we missed out. I posted the recommendation in a local vegan group & hope to see a vegan option added to the menu to make this more accessible. @vgn.adventures

We went here last night for the valentine's taster menu and it was fantastic. Every course was delicious, the staff were attentive without being intrusive and they hadn't over booked so it wasn't crowded or over loud. Overall had a brilliant night
