Mocca Moocho in Wakefield

We found this gorgeous cafe a few weeks ago and have been every Sunday since!! Fabulous home cooked produce!! Immaculately clean and great friendly service!! So lovely to have such a treasure in Wakefield 🫶🏽🩷☕️

Really nice cafe with excellent coffee and food. It has always been busy when we have been which is a good sign. Lovely atmosphere and the staff are really friendly.

Not a frequent visitor to Wakefield centre, but this is certainly a place to remember for the future. It was heaving at 11 a.m. though I suppose there would have been more at the several outside chairs had the weather been more clement. It was almost full downstairs, but there is also seating upstairs. Service was very good. We had 2 coffees each plus a couple of small tasty home- made buns and spent a pleasant hour catching up with no hassle. The food on offer did look extremely inviting and the coffee was rather good! I would say, a locally-owned business that deserves to do well.

I've got to be honest I didn't enjoy it here! Firstly the table was filthy, I had to get a napkin to clean it myself cos it was definitely more than just the last person's mess that had sat there. The food was cooked well but I was asked if I wanted white or brown bread but even though I said I'd like white I got brown! I'm sure this is just a staffing issue but when you're paying almost double for your brunch you'd like to think the standards would be higher than a fast food chain 🤷

I love this coffee shop nestled in Wakefield centre. Lovely hot drinks, lush cakes and friendly staff. The atmosphere is lovely too!

Great independent coffee shop. Busy but friendly service. Nice outdoor seating as well with rugs for when it's a bit chilly! Love it!

I can’t give the food or drinks a fair review as I was unable to actually have any. The 4 members of staff in the restaurant were more interested in clearing tables and filling jars than serving customers. After being ignored for 5 mins we went next door to Costa. I would much rather support a local business, but we were made far from welcome.

Had the best Carrot cake I've ever had there today. They also serve gorgeous bacon sandwiches on tiger bread 😋

Always great food, always great service. As a result it can get busy, but there's plenty of room upstairs too. Has a pleasant outside area that catches the sun nicely (when it decides to make an appearance - a rarity in Wakefield unfortunately). Thankfully it also has a lovely new awning to help keep the rain at bay.

Took my parents for lunch,loved it,great coffee,and lovely food also was able to take dog in which is a plus will be coming back

Lovely coffee and hot chocolate. Nice to support an independent café. The blondies are particularly nice and moreish. Also do nice lunches. Highly recommended. Also going to having renovation outside so should look even better 👍🏼. Will be open for business still though.

Attend Mocca on a regular basis when in Wakefield. Very clean an tidy staff a credit to the owners service 1st class choice of drinks and food excellent.

Good breakfast but potato waffle what's that all about hash browns please and next time not burnt to a crisp ba on also think about tomatoes

A chilled coffee shop in Wakefield centre, near the cathedral. No parking, park at Sainsbury’s or The Ridings. Nice coffee, lots of cakes. Breakfast and lunch Suitable for vegetarians, and they do vegan too.

Very friendly staff. Great location for the vibrant city of Wakefield. I believe Jane Mcdonald lived in Wakefield.

Lovely traditional family style coffee shop / tea room. It makes a lovely change from the big chain coffee shops. There's a lovely range of food and sweet treats too. Good value for money. It looks small at first but there's loads more space upstairs.

Lovely Wiltshire ham salad tailored to my requirements. Very tasty. Staff were very busy as Rhubarb festival was in full swing, but despite the long queue for service, everyone was very helpful. We were entertained by some fabulous Morris dancers outside which was wonderful.

First visit. Poached salmon sandwich and scone with clotted cream. Scone very large had to take half home. Food was delicious & the prices reasonable. The menu had options that were a bit different to the usual options Even though it was busy the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the service was excellent. Will definitely return.

My go to coffee shop - principally because of Jamie’s fantastic home made cakes, bakes, tarts and sandwiches. Date scones are a particular treat, but then so is the incredible flapjack, and then you get special scone weekends- always something different and moreish! The coffee is as good as you’d want to get, the staff are friendly and welcoming and it’s homely. Less anodyne than many of the chain coffee shops. I prefer to support this local business as you feel that you are an important customer to them.

Nice little family run cafe. Good selection of drinks and cakes. Also a decent lunch menu of panini wraps and sandwiches. Was a relaxed atmosphere. Fairly busy as well. Large amount of outdoor seating as well as two floors inside. Very friendly and welcoming. Will visit again.

The very best homemade cakes and savouries, the owners and staff go above and beyond to make it a fabulous experience. Worth a visit to Wakefield just for this café.

Great coffee shop. Updated review as its had a bit of a makeover, food is still brilliant, as are the cakes. One of the best in wakefield without a doubt.

Met friends for catch up 9am on a Friday as the other place we like doesn't open until 9:30. It did not disappoint! Everyone's tea and coffee looked nice and the server didn't blink an eye when I ordered a glass of milk. My friends had avocado toast and a huge portion of porridge with lots of berries and syrup. I had 3 small pieces of perfectly toasted fruit toast with butter. The food was so good that I bought some to bring home. Definitely recommend the quiche (we had one salmon & broccoli and one spinach & feta) and strawberry & cream scone. The gluten free Bakewell wasn't so much to our taste due to the texture, but if we had an intolerance, we'd have been quite happy. The range of top-quality savouries and cabinet full of cakes (with more on top) made choosing very hard. If we lived closer, we'd definitely book their afternoon tea. I would absolutely recommend to anyone and have no doubt we'll be back.

What a lovely independent coffee shop. Lovely friendly staff, who were so cheerful and warm. Coffee was excellent. Cheese and Ham Toastie was superb, generous with the ingredients. Cakes looked amazing. The place was really busy, while the chain coffee shop next door was empty! Spotless toilets! Outside seating too. Right next to the Cathedral.

Food was lovely however tables were left uncleared for a ridiculous amount of time even though plenty of staff available and when they were cleared they were not wiped which concerns me that ours had not been wiped when we sat down..... worrying 😟

Lovely place. The row of cafes on this street are fantastic and this one is no different.

The people were lovely who worked there, but they didn't check to see how my food was, and to be honest it was the worst cooked breakfast I've ever had. The best part was the gluten free toast and baked beans. They didn't have meat sausages, so I had veggie sausages, which I usually like, but theirs were dry and tasteless. There wasn't a choice of how I like my eggs, and the scrambled eggs were also tasteless, rubbery in texture and tasted like they'd been made in the microwave. It's the first time I've had a full English with a potato waffle, not sure why this was offered, when hash browns or potato rostis are to die for. The breakfast was also very expensive for what it was, the music / seating was outdated and the orange juice wasn't fresh (it was from concerntrate). I was looking forward to visiting, after being recommended to go, but I wouldn't recommend their breakfasts, which is a shame. I'll try a different independent next time.

This was one of the best afternoon teas I have ever had. Lovely sandwiches with generous and unusual fillings made with excellent fresh bread Freshly home made scones with lots of jam cream and a large variety of small home-made cakes. And a bottomless teapot. Brilliant, pleasant and attentive staff made this an afternoon to remember

Went to enjoy a coffee and work for an hour, was told I couldn’t plug in laptop as it ‘wasn’t allowed’ - how mean is that! I left and won’t ever be returning. Wouldn’t recommend on basis of poor staff attitude. This is exactly why you end up in a coffee chain.

Lovely place! Get food there as much as I can and great staff! Sometimes you have to wait a little bit if it's busy (especially as I normally get the orders to go) but I'm happy to wait around as its a lovely and inviting place! Food is fantastic and not too pricey, everything feels family made 🥰

Heading to marmalade but they were shut so tried Mocca moocho thinking it'd be mainly bacon butties. Pleasantly surprised, had a gorgeous falafel salad. Cakes looked nice too 🎂, will try them on next visit 😊

Visited as Tripadvisor says Gluten free options. I’m becoming a little more suspicious of what this may mean as recent searching for holiday options indicates this might be a salad in a pizza restaurant so my own reviews specifically say if it can be or is gf. I can say wholeheartedly that the cakes selection in this cafe include some delicious gf options and the coffee was good as well. Didn’t this visit, but will return at some point and use takeaway discounts on cakes for enjoyment at home. Easily recommended for sweet toothed coeliacs.

Best place to go for lunch or an afternoon tea, especially on a nice day when you can sit outside with a glass of wine.

I met my boyfriend in this café almost two years ago so my opinion may be a little biased but I really love this place. I'm a big fan of supporting local businesses and I think this place is a good example as to why. The food is great and reasonably priced, the staff are lovely, the coffee is nice, great atmosphere and it's in a good location.

Very close to the cathedral in the pedestrianised area. A good choice of sandwiches, both hot and cold, plus a good selection of 'treats'. Good home cooked food. Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea are available. Indoor and outdoor seating available with blankets should it be slightly chilly. Highly recommended.

There is plenty of space to sit. Especially outside on a beautiful day, it is very inviting. Would recommend it here while walking about the shops. No menu's but I've posted what was on a couple of the boards. Service didn't take long, and this place was fairly busy. Latte is from a proper machine 👌 I ordered their biggest breakfast (see pictures) 6 piece breakfast, fairly priced and food came in no time at all. The scrambled egg was spot on, bacon was spot on, and the waffle was a unique touch. I couldn't really say anything bad about the food. The sausages weren't mushy inside, not stingy on the butter with the toast. Give credit where credit is due. Very nice place

Coffee and wholemeal date scones were the order of the day! Plenty of seats inside and outside! We had our dog with us and sat outside! Generous sized scone too!

I've been coming to Mocca for years and the drinks, food and service here have always been superb. I don't get into Wakefield as much as I used to however I returned today after a long absence and was delighted to find that it is still a wonderful place to eat, drink and socialise. Jamie and Mags have put a lot of time, expertise and love into Mocca making it a cut above the rest. The quiche, Broccoli and salmon for me and cheese and ham for my partner, was delicious as was the accompanying salad. We finished lunch off with flapjack, gluten free lemon slice and café latte. It's been far too long since I ate at Mocca Moocho and I will definitely be back soon. Thank you to all the staff and keep up the good work.

The atmosphere was full with friendly faces, and the experience was very enjoyable, especially the service. Everything was peaceful and homey, and the afternoon tea was gorgeous, took some cakes back too. Overall a fulfilling experience, would definitely return for a usual coffee or tea :)

Really friendly and positive staff despite it being absolutely packed! The only reason I gave 3 stars for atmosphere is due to queueing through the middle of the cafe whilst people are eating. The food was lovely and I'd come again.

Came here today with my <1 year old girl. The 6 piece breakfast was great and they offered to do a mini portion of scrambled eggs for my daughter at a reduced price which was excellent and the staff were lovely and friendly. Lovely atmosphere, nice to sit inside and relax. Would come back here again.

After a morning shopping we called in here for a well earned cuppa. The cafe was quite full and after looking at the menu we both decided to eat as well. We both chose a bacon and caramelised onion ciabatta, my wife's with tea and mine with a black Americano. The drinks and the food were excellent so we then had a sweet to finish off, a scone for my wife and carrot cake for me, again we could not complain. So why only 3 stars, I am so sorry Mocha Moocho but as someone who has a mobility problem and walks with a crutch I found it difficult to climb the stairs to access the toilet and extremely difficult to get back down, it's the only fault that I have with the establishment but alas it's a problem that will probably stop me returning on a more regular basis.

Super coffee house/ cafe right next door to the region's best independant record shop. Friendly, helpful staff. Plenty of room inside as there is seating on the first floor also. If the weather is decent, al fresco and watch the Wakey world go by.

Nice atmosphere and service, lovely staff. Good coffee too and a reasonable price. The one down side is a couldn't spot anything vegan or dairy free to eat (I'm allergic to milk) but since it's a smaller place I can't really blame them. I just had a black coffee instead. I'd go again for sure l, great place to hang out and catch up since it's not too loud with music like a lot of places.
