The Codfather Fish and Chips in Wakefield

Staying in Wakefield for a couple of nights and has seen these guys on their TikTok page, was only a few mins drive so stopped by for dinner. Wow. Absolute bargain fish & chips for the amount you get. Super fresh, hot & tasty. All served quick.

Ordered 7pm numerous differnt times when arriving....when it finally arrived 9pm..not acceptable. Wont be ordering again .

I called in on Tuesday as I dropped a client in Wakefield from Norwich so thought I would try thier homemade fish cake.. It was delicious the crispy battery and the potatoe in it was divine the fish was so tasty ..the service was great the lady who served me was polite and very helpful... All in all a big 10 /10 Hopefully I get more jobs that way

Was delivered within the time frame given but the driver went to wrong house so had to track him down.

Food was amazing and plenty of it chips were a bit scrappier than usual but still really enjoyed our meal not a complaint from all 4 of us

Soggy and very greasy fish which was all stuck to the paper and the chips were cold. Not up to previous standard.

Driver didn't come to door just waited in car outside, so I had to walk out to the car park to collect.

Generous portions, friendly service, great value.

Customer service is non-existent … was asked if I would like salt and vinegar, to which I replied yes, she then didn’t put any on. I told her I said yes to her question, was met with a disgusted look, reluctantly opened the food back up and she then put far too much on which ruined my food. Not the 1st time I’ve had poor customer service here but like to give people the benefit of the doubt before giving negative reviews, felt I had to now.

Ordered small portion of fish and chips and the portions was huge! The fish was a really good size and tasted very fresh.

I’ve used this fish and chip shop for years. I ordered chicken breast and chips. I can’t believe how disgusting it really was it was cold to the point of freezing… I tried to call the shop no response.. put it this way I will never come back ! Standards are low . Very disappointed 😔

Just had a belter of sausage and chips. And when I say chips they are always generous with the helpings. Not busy tonight but even when busy it feels so organised your in and out pretty quick. Good opening hours too compared to most local ones. Awesome kebabs too if fish isn't your bag.

So tonight I order here through just eat who don't turn up with my food but online it comes up delivered after a few calls between just eat and the store the manager of the store sorted the order hadbit remade and the delivery guy who delivered was so polite and very help ful and for once a frugally came to my door and didn't phone Ms from down stairs saying there not gonna come up brilliant service brilliant food pity just wat have drivers that steal the food disgusted with them but cod father great guys thank you

they forgot my drink today, also the delivery man told me that I wasn't the only customer not to get their stuff. Just Eat is expensive. people pay the extra charges for a services, that is more often than not up to the standard expected for the extra money

Excellent portion size, best cod and chips I have had for a long time. Reasonable price compare to average places.

Ordered no salad on one kebab, both kebabs had salad. Otherwise was nice.

No gravey as it spilled everywhere and a large sausage missing off the order

I don’t know if they have changed donner meat in the last month but it’s just not as nice as it use to be and cut a lot thicker .. about 4 weeks ago it was really nice on more than one occasion.. these last two it’s just not nice donner meat .. there fish is usually good so guna have to go back to that

I’m a British girl who now lives in the USA. The first thing I want when I visit the UK is fish and chips. The Codfather did not disappoint. It was the best fish and chips I’ve have in all my recent visits to the UK. The service was wonderful.

Been here few times for fish and chips, and it's always been really delicious. Food arrives hot and fresh as well as being served in sizeable portions. Definitely give them a go if you're in the area.

Not impressed with the food, I bought fish and chips with curry sauce and the curry sauce was the best bit, chips were very greasy and cold, also the cod was light and fluffy but had no flavour and the batter was disgusting, I will continue travelling to east ardsley and buying my food from PJ's fish and chips

I put my order in at 17.35 and my food came just before 20.00 hours, I wasn’t very pleased at all, when I went to cancel the order I was told I still would have to pay for my order, so had to wait for my order to come even if it meant getting my order 4 hours later, if you don’t have drivers because of Ramadan don’t take orders and leave people waiting over 2 hours, the food was lovely though so thank you codfather xxx

This is the best chippy in Wakefield we don't go anywhere else. We have them delivered they come fresh and very hot and on time every time. Drivers are excellent and polite. There's no other chippy for us.

Always get a good service from friendly staff and get good quality food at a competitive price

Chilli sauce that went on kebab was cheap, it spoiled it a bit.

Bought from here many times portion size is spot on and quality is outstanding. We have had fish & chips, battered sausage, potato scollops, peas, curry. Would deffo recommend this place the only negative is that card payments not always accepted they seem to always have issues with the card machines.

Place was recommended by daughter who lives close by.... we were visiting from Canada 🇨🇦 and I was craving proper (fish) cake with curry sauce..... it was fabulous!! Just what I/we needed. Had delivered to our hotel in Wakefield... Will be back whenever we make it over again!! Huge portion, tasty and fresh... fish was amazing both in the cake and with order of fish and chips!!

Wow, food cold, probably due to the driver being late due to not knowing where to go (instructions given and he still gets lost) I had to flag him down. Ordered a special fish and got a standard sized one? Sorry, not again! Don't bother

Wouldn't waste your time ordering from a service that can't be arsed reading additional instructions and is incapable of sending the right food.
