Very nice clean tidy shop friendly staff, food cooked fresh whilst you wait. Good prices. I had a fishcake butty that was really tasty and filled a little hole for me. My 1st visit but if I'm in that area as gain I would definitely call in again.

Iv become quite funny with fish and chips lately and prefer the ones from any seaside. But these are amazing. We went a few month back and had plenty for the money we paid, fed a family of 6 and no complaints.

We go for gluten free Mondays because we are coealiac and it's incredible, there's chips, fish, battered sausages, curry sauce to name a few that's available gluten free!

My partner and I have just had what we consider to be the best fish and chips ever and both being 80 years old that's some compliment. They were beautiful and the staff could not be any better very welcoming and sociable.

Great food, definitely visit again

This was my first visit, so maybe I had been led to expect too much from all the hype, but sadly this was very average quality fish and chips for a very expensive price. I'm afraid I won't be going back.

Just had fish and chips (bank holiday Monday teatime) & yet again the fish was over cooked (dry fish & too much hard batter) the other man who cooks (think he's the owner) is 5⭐ but the one cooking today is 2⭐ at best, I will check who's frying next time before ordering.

Charlie and his team are amazing! They go above and beyond for us each month. Staff are like friends. We go for gluten free night and have since Charlie took over, it’s an amazing treat for us as a family due to limited gluten free options. My daughter also says they are the BEST gluten free chippy for miles (and she’s tried a few!)

HILLSIDE FISHERIES HAVE TALENT.. Stopped by for some food while passing through, it looked clean, well presented and welcoming. Absolutly fantatstic Fish, chunky and perfectly cooked with nice crisp batter. Chips were ace also and the loverly lady even told me the correct way to apply salt and vinegar. Really looking forwards to coming again, next time i am passing by, hopefully before your appearance on Britains Got Talent with your perfect batter preperation lessons while belting out power balards to entertain the crowd. Thank you! :)

Not the best. And definitely not the worse. The fish was tasty but small for the price. Chips where few.Overall a pricey meal. But no different to anywhere else.

Called in on the way home from picking up a Facebook marketplace item. Not been before,but will definitely be going again. Masses of chips and scraps,huge fish cooked to perfection. The curry sauce was to die for. Definitely visiting here again, because it is well better than the ones in Pontefract.

I'm from Barbados in all my time back and forth from Barbados to England I've never found a fish and chips place as good as this I definitely will be back whenever I fancy fish and chips btw I'm from Leeds🤣

Been numerous times and the Fish and Chips every time have been some of the best I have ever tasted. Perfect batter, not too thick where some shops do to hide the quality of the fish. The fish is some of the best, nice, thick, white chunks of fish. Haddock is served as standard but cod is available. On the wall of the shop, there is a board showing the provenance of the fish and potatoes with the boat the fish has come from and the farm the potatoes have come from with the variety. Proper chip shop mushy peas as well.

Usually I have found the quality to be of a good standered but today the chips were absolutely disgusting, hard, shrivelled, cold, tasteless and a disgusting in colour. I thought they were continuous of quality, no. My girlfriend went and placed an order I was given the end offerings off an old batch(obviously not cooked to order, as some people try and say) but my girlfriend got freshly cooked ones. How come when it was in the same order, disgusting the old ones should have been thrown away (like I had to) and not deemed acceptable for serving, I will never go here again. 1st pic old 2nd freshly cooked.

Never ad a bad meal from there yet .so friendly .and the food is hot and cooked to order wouldn't go anywhere else ...

The food, small fish and chips with curry sauce was really nice. Good portion size even for a small. However, this is the second time i have been in, and there is a most unpleasant old bat who works there...bad attitude coming off in waves. I only ever speak to place my order, so have no idea what her problem is. Everyone else who works there appears to be friendly and pleasant. Please get rid of the old bat!

Without a doubt the best fish and chips in Ackworth.

Since moving into ackworth I've been here twice first was amazing no complaints at all. this time however the batter is soggy and stuck to the paper so the fish has now broken into many soggy pieces and batter is all stuck to the chips. Cooked the fish from fresh which is great however it needs to rest for a minute or to in the hot cupboard before wrapping. All we can taste is fat and grease made my gf feel sick.

Bloody best chipshop in the area.

Fish had crispy batter which was nice, chips let it down, too well done looking for me yet a few weren't fully cooked inside and disappointed that they had no scraps.

Hillside is a family favourite, but can't knock any of the chip shops in Ackworth. Hillside's staff are aways polite and friendly, portion sizes are generous and prices are also very fair.

Top knotch again, we keep coming back 30 mile round trip for these fish & chips.... keep coming back, they are always fantastic. Well done Hillside Fisheries, 5 stars *****
