The best restaurants serving British food in England

Just had the most FABULOUS Sunday lunch at the Charterhouse Arms, Godalming. Highly recommend. They were even kind enough to bag up the leftovers for us. Definitely worth a visit.

The most delicious fish and chips, great menu, fresh fish and proper chippy chips. Lovely friendly staff, parking is tight.

Good food, lovely staff and feels like a proper local pub. Second time we've been for lunch and been a great experience both times. Recommended. Updated November 2023: We've been many times since I wrote the original review and The Duke has always delivered good food, good service and a lovely local pub vibe. Recommended! Wow! What an exceptional find! Just on the Oxford side of Henley, and well worth a visit. Their a la carte menu's great , but the set lunch menu is exemplary - balanced, seasonal fare sculpted into a creative menu, and expertly produced. And tremendous value for money. Don't tell anyone! Keep it to yourself!

Great small villages pub , lively at weekends and good atmosphere. Serving food from special guest catering at weekends also coffee, cakes and sandwiches at lunchtimes . Lovely outside areas to chill and big garden for children to run around. Games bar with pool , table skittles and board games. Live music accasionally at weekends.

Fish and chips that's what we got spam fritter well I would recommend the place for excellent fish and chips staff was good most probably will be going again

Walked in and the owners were very friendly making me feel very welcome. Had the Pulled Pork with BBQ sauce and a side of fries. Great plate of food.

The Slip Tavern is closed and no longer .an inn so don’t bother visiting it
