We liked the pasties and breakfast buns at this bakery. The staff are friendly. Queues outside seem a good sign. The bakery dates from the 19th century and is in a good location. There’s a good display of their products in the window including lardy cake, Chelsea buns, doughnuts, pasties, cream cake, tiffin and slices.

Great vegan sausage roll - crispy and buttery pastry and a tasty filling. The cake selection was amazing, as was the hot pies/pastries etc. very friendly staff decent prices

Very nice pasties, but not quite as good as the Cornish Bakery. Good ingredients, but not the same level of seasoning. This ends my pasty survey in Bude! Didn't have time to eat any more and now need to lose some weight!!

Lovely and tempting freshly made. Wonderful selection of baked goods to choose from. Old fashioned favourites. Lovely, caring and knowledgeable staff. Doughnuts very fresh and moorish, Took us back to childhood days. Meat pies were lovely.

We were made to feel lovely & welcome by the lady serving us. We bought some fresh baps for our burgers & purchased some buttercream meringues which were lovely. Small bakery but lovely & traditional. Well worth a visit.

The only trouble with this place is there's so much to choose from I have to resist coming out with a box of cakes instead of just one. All beautifully laid out and far too tempting for my own good. Great fresh baked bread too...

I visit Bude twice a year and always head here to buy bread rolls as lovely and soft. Delicious homemade pizza too. Cakes delicious as well!

Struggled to find anywhere in Bude to get a nice sandwich & then we stumbled across this bakery! With it's fresh filled rolls & baguettes & beautiful baked cakes, we left as 5 very happy customers. Only wish I had found this place sooner

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good range of pasties, even gluten free. I enjoyed a large Cornish pasty which was really delicious, seasoning was just perfect, plenty of meat too! Best in the area in my view. Large assortment of cakes and buns looked lovely. My Chelsea bun was perfection. All was good sized and excellent value for money. Thank you!

A great variety of fresh and proper bread, the cottage rolls were superb, crusty on the outside but inside soft and fluffy.A great selection of cakes, and of course we had to try the scones, although it was difficult resisting the temptation to buy 1 of everything! The scones were perfect- not too big, light and tasty in their own right. And then the scotch eggs- yes real scotch eggs not those pale supermarket immitations. Just enough crumb, a proper meaty sausage meat and then an egg that when it was cut open had a vivid gold yolk. Oh and of course the pasty- one of the best I tried on this week in Cornwall. Prcies fair, service with a smile and helpful advice Why isn't there a branch in my town?!

They do a great choice for pasties which a very good. They are a meal on there own.Good choice of rolls and bread.

this place is so oldy worldy its lovely you can have a freshly made roll/sandwich made while you wait on any type of bread/roll/bagette, and while that's being done you can have a lovely cup of tea made, excellent value and service with a smile.

Three years ago we used this bakery and loved it. But it has changed. I purchased a loaf of bread and as I cut it is started to crumble? The flavour was bland. Now we have used this bakery before and it was great. But it was not just me but my wife also who felt it was no where near the quality as before. In fact the local Morrisons Bakery was far superior. Dark topped fresh bread that tasted great. Way better and for a bakery to lose out to a superstore is so rare in my opinion. As for the pasties? Go across the road where you can see them being made at Pengenna Pasties. They are way way better. I know as I have eaten from both. Do the taste test if you want. But it will be obvious who is the winner.... enjoy :-)

Went for a walk along the canal and decided to walk through the town. Plenty of little shops and individual shops to browse.

A work colleague ran a lunch run for us and came back with two cheese and onion pasties, they were cold and not very big either. It cost me £8.50 for two pasties, appalling! My colleague even went back into the shop to double check they hadn’t short changed them! They didn’t even taste nice! We won’t be going back. There is high competition for pasty shops in Bude and I have had far nicer pasties elsewhere. Don’t waste your money here.

A must do on a visit to Bude, lovely selection of cakes. The iced & chelsea buns in particular are lovely. Worth a visit.

Been here 2 years now, one of the best things we ever did relocating!! Bude is lovely, unspoiled by the usual trappings of a 'seaside' town like noisy amusements and shops selling rubbish. Lots to see and do, great places to eat and drink, friendly people, its nice and clean (compared to other places I could mention) and is quite obviously well loved, even by us! And finally of course its in Gods own country, Cornwall!!

Only went in for my bread & came out with an armful of beautiful home made Christmas goodies....gift boxes of shortbread bites, gingerbread snowmen & truffles. Then, I just had to get some mince pies. Which to choose ? 3 different sorts ( better have one of each ! ) Thought I'd done....then I spotted the Christmas cake & Yule logs. Oh dear !!Would have had a coffee, but I couldn't carry it !

Always get my sausage rolls from here - and they're always yum. Also always get a very friendly welcome. Thanks guys xxx

£4.50 For a bland cornish pasty which was 95% potato. Not worth the money at all. Should of read the reviews.

Visited Bude last winter for a late break. The beach is stunning and on a windy winter day with the waves crushing again the cliffs and shoreline amazing. There are plenty of good place to stay, eat and drink and it is an ideal base for coastal walks.

OMG where to start this is the best bakers I have been to for Gluten free goodies, there was a great selection and they all looked so good. I had the lemon muffins which were really tasty you would never know they were gluten free and a pasty. You do have to wait 30mins while they cook the pasty but they take your mobile nozand call you when it’s ready and it was dead on the time given.They have fresh bread as well you are spoilt for choice.My daughter eats wheat and had the fresh pizza slice and the chicken curry pasty for the 2nd year running it really is our go to place for lunch when we are in Bude.They also have a cafe further up the road that has waitress service and the girls were really polite.

I had high hopes after reading some of the reviews and having a wheat intolerance I was looking forward to a gluten free pasty. I popped in and was advised if I came back in half an hour I could have one. So I did. I was told that it would be another ten minutes. I bought a “normal” pasty and scones and some gluten free scones, cream and jam and proceeded to wait for another 20 minutes. Eventually the young girl who had been dealing with me from the start came down and pulled a colleague to one side. I heard the lady say well just tell her and give her a refund. The young girl then came over to explain that the gluten free pasty had never actually gone in and refunded me the £4 something it had cost. I said it was ok and left the shop as I felt bad for her. On reflection though I don’t understand why I was told they had checked and it would be another ten minutes of it wasn’t in the oven. I also would never have bothered buying all of the other stuff and we would have ate somewhere else. I don’t think the response was anything like good enough once the mistake was realised. I had wasted almost an hour and had bought food for my partner and child and had nothing to eat myself. I don’t even blame the young girl, she was really nice and clearly mortified. She had asked an older and presumably more experienced colleague, potentially the manager or owner, for help. They should have stepped up not sent the poor girl over to apologise and give me my £4 back. I even waited a few days before submitting this review just to make sure I wasn’t fuming because I was hungry, haha! To top it off I warmed the GF scones that evening to have with cream and jam and they weren’t nice. Pete and Georgia advised their food wasn’t up to much either although they could have been trying to make me feel better. I may well get some defensive reply but please bear in mind I work with customers myself and I know that mistakes happen but service really fell short here and things could have been dealt with better.

Unfortunately the pasty was a let down for us. Wasn't the best taste and to top it off my husband had what we can only think was a hard bit of white plastic in his! Needless to say he didn't eat anymore of it. How on earth that had made its way into the filling is beyond me, not nice.

Just go in you'll not get better it's all just really tasty you won't know what to have so try everything ( not all at once,oh why not your on holiday)

LOVE LOVE this bakery. Always have fresh baked cakes, pasties, bread etc every day. So friendly, always service with a smile, always have cinnamon swirl/danish every time. Good value for money.

We were staying locally at Burn Park and needed fresh bread but did not know the town very well. However, we had just had super mussels at Scrummies and when we came out we saw the bakery opposite and went to have a look.My wife dragged me inside the little shop and immediately the baking aromas said 'buy me, eat me' almost like Alice in Wonderland. Then I saw the range of cakes and the 2 kindly ladies looked on and smiled as they had seen this bemused, 'what do I choose' look before. Not surprisingly we went OTT and bought bread and cakes enough for several days. It was worth it. We have happily been back since and we were remembered by one of the ladies! Hugely recommended if you want to spoil yourself!

We stopped here to get pasties for a late lunch one day! The pasties were delicious and full to the brim with fillings! The kind lady in the shop was almost ready to close and offered us a some bread rolls to take away at a reduced price. Their products are fresh and baked daily! Delicious find!

Horrendous staff - very rude Scottish lady and they microwave the Cornish pasties . Go elsewhere !No customer care and they are in a rush to get you out the shop. There are better bakeries in Bude with nicer products !

This was our third pasty of the week, and have to say it was the best. Lovely pastry, and gorgeous filling too.

Scrummy cakes and great selection of bread. We are on holiday and they very kindly put order on one side for us to collect later which was very helpful.

Gem of a find..gf pasties, scones & muffins.Bake gf bread on Tuesdays and staff even able to suggest a couple of places to eat in the evening where they could cater for gf.

We popped into the Lasdowne to pick up a couple of scones for our cream tea and they were absolutely delicious. We also picked up the clotted cream and a local jam, with the shop assistant proving wonderfully helpful and friendly.This is a great 'shopping local' bakery, with a great selection of sweet and savoury. Just a heads up though, they don't take cards!!

As we were in Bude again, a much anticipated revisit to this shop was greatly appreciated by all, as was the delectable edible delights.

I love this bakery just wish you were closer to home.The lemon yum yums were yummy,I asked the lady were was the nearest toilet for my 4 year old daughter and was told that I could use there toilet in the coffee shop which was a few doors down. The lady even said they would phone them to let them know we were coming.Excellent customer service and fantastic food.

We only grabbed a quick snack but it was very nice. The bakery has a lot of variety so most people would find something to enjoy. The staff were friendly and happy so we couldn't ask for more

Having eaten numerous pasties over the years the two Cheese pasties we bought here were bland and expensive. At £4.25 each you would expect something a bit special, but these were no different from a pasty in any village store that would have cost half that price. Not impressed.

I seen a local using this bakery so had to try a pastie,turns out best pastie I've ever had a long with the cakes on offer this bakery is one i will be visiting every time i visit Bude.

Local bakery with pasties coming out of the oven, steaming on a tray. The cheese and onion pastie was a real meal and their Proper Pastie is what it says it is ... of course!

Called in the shop looking for a cup of tea (their café is actually up the street). Left the shop with the most gorgeous pasties! The pastry! the filling! Everything tasted magnificent. While in the shop you can pick up a 10% loyalty discount card for the café up the street.

Ordered a square fruit cake for my Father's 80th birthday. The cake was lovely and moist. Bit too much marzipan for my liking but everyone else enjoyed it!

We always use this bakery in Bude when we are staying in the area! Lovely pasties and other baked goodies! Staff are always welcoming and very patient with my children who change their minds about 10 times! Look forward to coming back again soon!

Went to Bude for the day, had a lovely walk around on a cold but dry day. Popped in for a bun, ended sitting outside with the dog to have my lovely fresh chelsea bun. The 2 ladies in the shop were a credit to the bakery, both were very pleasant...thank you

The bakery has a cafe further up the road serving a wide range of bread and cake and pies all prepaired on siteThe cafe is small but with seating upstairs and outside. To many cakes and pies to try them all but after two visits tried a few all delicous

I wouldnt normally review for a takeaway pasty, but this was super disappointing. Imagine a fab tasty freshly baked soft moist pasty with crispy pastry - if only this was the reality. It was in my view probably the worst pasty I've ever had. We had the giant one. Perhaps the others might be better. And it had grit in it. With more time and energy I would have gone back for a refund!

Seemed to provide local items baked locally and the pasties, bread and cake were all very good. Good choice of pasties with curry & beef spiced our favorites.

I pop in 3-4 times a week now, so consider myself a regular ! Loving the tiger bread, & sour dough . If you fancy croissant or pain au choc , they'll make them for you in 15/ 20 minutes. Nothing is too much trouble, always warmly greeted & I noticed the staff often greet people by name. Such a happy atmosphere, would love to work there, but would eat all their profits !

What a fantastic little bakery! Their Cornish pasties are to die for! Many more flavours to choose from you don’t fancy them! Spoilt for choice with the buns and cakes. I couldn’t not take some fresh bread back with me too! The staff are so pleasant, with a nice warm welcome, and will answer any questions you have.I can definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area

I have always found the staff very helpful and friendly as for the range of products you are spoilt for choice all freshly baked on the premise's the bakers bring in the hot pasties sill on the baking trays to the shop (smell fantastic) well worth a visit in my opinion

Rude off hand staff and all to obvious defects in basic hygiene would make a return visit a choice to avoid. old building in poor condition, slack attention to detail.

Not much else to say really! I have been visiting Bude for many years and always get our pasties here, they are always delicious. Lovely people cooking and selling them as well!

Bought a chicken pasty here,paid 3.95 for it,it was ok,only ok tho,very expensive,i did notsee the price until i was being served,should have walked out really at that price,ask first i would before you order. Chicken was nice it it,it was not very big tho for that price.Nice staff but they dont wear gloves ,which i dont like to be honest.

I visited here to buy two pasties. We came on our last holiday and really enjoyed them. Was disappointed firstly when my boyfriend opened the fridge to buy a bottle of water and cleanliness of the fridge was appalling! It was dirty and sticky all up the door and at the bottom of the fridge. You couldn't miss the dirt! Looking around I noticed some obvious cleanliness problems such as the walls were dirty and streaky and the floor. As a chef I'm aware of cleanliness of kitchens and I wasn't impressed at all by their shop or kitchen. The pasties are nice, but as soon as I noticed the poor cleanliness I didn't enjoy my pasty as much. A shame because we usually visit this shop when we're in Bude! The Assistant serving us was very knowledgeable regarding the pasties. I did look for a Hygiene rating, but one couldn't be found. Would be interested to know the rating.

I decided to get a steak and Stilton pastie and my wife and children sausage rolls and was a little disappointed as they looked tasty, but the meat was a bit mushy in all of them.

great scones all baked on premises plus all other breads and cakes they also sell pots of cream so you have all you need to make your own cream tea at home

Lovely bakery - wish there were more like this around. Superb fresh bread just like it ought to be and very nice saffron buns. Kind lady serving. Will certainly visit again - highly recommended.

I live near Launceston and have given this place a go twice now while visiting Bude and have been disappointed each time. A rather surly lady serving.The pasty I had was dry, poorly filled and a bit gristly... definitely not a good representation of a Cornish pasty.My partner bought donuts and mine was mediocre (not awful), but hers had some strange slightly green matter in it and went in the bin. We weren't going to drive to Bude to take it back.It's a shame because it's an old bakery but of course history doesn't necessarily count for a lot.Lots of people seem happy with it looking at the reviews, and there's not a right lot of competition in Bude, but we've found better so won't be back.

This is such a good little bakery. There is your usual selection of bread, cakes, treats and of course pasties. You can also get fresh yeast from the bakery which we use in our bread maker. The bread rolls are perfect for BBQs. The staff are helpful and friendly. A really lovely place to buy some very reasonably priced baked goods.

Visited Bude for a lovely weeks holiday and found this fabulous bakery. Freshly made bread, bread rolls, pasties, scones and other cake selections all gluten free. They even baked some fresh to order as they had run out of scones. I couldn't believe how good the bread was the best I (coeliac) have ever tasted. Well worth a trip to stock up. Highly recommnd.

What a great little bakery! Plenty of selection of home made cakes, pies, sausage rolls etc - the bread in particular is very good and if you are watching your waist you might want to look away from the Florentines which are the best I've had in a long time!

Bought 2 pastys and a sausage roll. Pasty looked very appetising but when I bit into it the pastry sank as it was barely filled. I was still hungry after I'd eaten it.

Someone has reported that they came to Bude in 2000 and have returned to find it unchanged. We take that as a compliment but things obviously have changed over the years except our hope that you will visit us and enjoy your stay.The Bude Sea Pool is free and cleaned every day by the tide and there are not many sea pools like this one in the country. It is maintained and paid for by local people. There are loads of restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets. Large car parks and wonderful walks along the coast or the canal. The beaches are sandy and the surfing is free. If you just want to sit and look at the sea, you could hire a beach hut and just relax.Bude is what an English Seaside holiday should be. Playing on the beach, rambling the countryside, playing golf, tennis or bowls, sitting outside a pub or wandering round the shops. Whatever you like it is a quiet, safe beautiful place to visit and YOU are welcome.

Donuts, Apple puffs and pasties after a good days surf. Don't have to queue in the summer! Friendly service!

I live in Bude and have been here several times. It's by no meals awful, it's quite standard. I've had a few cheese and onions pasties in the past and the pastry wasn't cooked very well and had to chuck it away. I have never bought one since. The staff are friendly and kind though.

Purchased several lunches / light snacks here for some of our coastal walks. Good quality and value-for-money. Also have coffee shop 100yds back up the hill.

We visited having seen sum good looking cakes in the window. We purchased more cakes than intended but all where very good , moist and tasty. I was surprised they opened on a Sunday in November , but glad of it. The staff friendly and helpful, and some offers available as well.

Poor attitude and rubish Pasty...I am a Cornishman and know a good Pasty when I am eating one. The Pasty was advised as warm but was cold. Pastry was not cooked and the filling was...what meat?

Lovely fat and full pasties, just how we like them. I had a medium and it filled me up (and I usually complain that a medium pasty isn't big enough!). Service is always great in this place, we really must try their coffee shop up the road a little next time we visit. My husband also had the bread and butter pudding which he really rated too.

Visited from Widemouth to get bread etc for our self catering holiday home. What a treat everything we purchased was exceedingly good, well priced and so fresh. Would highly recommend - staff very helpful even under pressure as every time we visited the shop was full of customers. Large selection not to be missed.

Ended up leaving with 2 boxes of cake and a gluten free muffin. The cakes were shared with the men back at base, all gone with much munching. Delicious cakes and a very tasty and the GF muffin was lovely and light with a good lemony flavour.Must try to get back on Tuesday for Gluten Free bread ( I have been infirmed this taste good too).Read the end of this review and realised cakes gone too quick for a photo!Ann and 2 mums.

You go to Cornwall and expect a decent pasty. All the potato was undercooked and the meat was dry, on the whole the Cornish pasties we purchased here (5 in total) were all thrown. The sausage roll was edible as my daughter ate it, but she said she was starving.

A wonderful family owed bakery. They do a wide range of fresh bread, cakes, pastries, and biscuits. Not forgetting the cream tea scones they also do.

Greats service and delicious pasties! must be one of the oldest shoes in Bude now. Brings back child hood memories!

So picturesque! It's steeped with history and yet has a modern twist to it as well! It is clean and tidy. There are so many shops with everything you need here! We fell in love with Zuma Jay Surf shop!
