I’ve been aware of The Carrington Arms for many years, but never actually been there. Well what can I say, I wish I’d gone sooner. What an absolute treat, beautiful building, lovely atmosphere and SUPERB food . The staff were amazing. There was a young, new member of staff learning the ropes. Her name was Ella, and we found her to be delightfully and hope she does well. She looked after us with great care. We didn’t get the ladies name who was training her, but needless to say, was excellent also . We hope to return very soon 5***** +

We had a family lunch here today. Such a lovely place to eat. Nothing was too much. Our daughter has issues with food and they were great with this. This helped her to feel included and their relaxed approach helped her with eating somewhere new.

I have always held this restaurant ion high regard for the area. Unfortunately, it fell short of our expectations. Our table was at 19:30. The restaurant was cold and lacked atmosphere. The service felt rushed. The food was just, ok. The battered haddock was heavy and greasy. Sadly, this for us is no longer a 'special occasion restaurant'. On the upside, the parking is good, the décor is good. the location is good.

Just had a fabulous lunch here today. The steak and ale pie was as usual, fabulous, but the rhubarb panna cotta I had for dessert was unbelievably gorgeous, my best dessert ever. The pub was rammed - being bank holiday - but although we had to wait a while for our food the staff were great and the food was definitely worth waiting for.

Absolutely awful. Booked a table, arrived, table not ready, waitress/bar girl was swearing under her breath. Two bar staff on, girl spoke to friends rather than serve paying customers, one of those friends walked through to the kitchen…no care for hygiene. After we had been there for 30 mins were then told there was an hour wait for food. People on drugs in the garden. Place was dirty. We left and won’t be going baby. @Nolan …. The person that went through to the kitchen absolutely didn’t put on a uniform and start doing dishes she went out to the garden with a friend and chatted after swearing as she walked past us.

I have ordered 2 beer through the app The bar wasn’t busy at all. But the gentleman couldn’t do my order after 10 minutes. I went to the bar to get my order and he said the he will serve an other lady who came there after me. I don’t think that’s an appropriate way to do business at all. And he was making comments about me to the next customer with is very rude!! I understand that he wasn’t able to leave the bar, but when I walk there he could just do the 2 beer..which he didn’t he kept serving others that came to the bar after me. Very disappointed in this service and specifically on the attitude

we made the 140 mile trip to Whitstable on a recommendation from a well know train enthusiast & ex politician. we booked months in advance. We understood this restaurant had1 Michelin star, Having eaten at many "Started" restaurants in the passed we were very excited to see hat they could offer, both of us loving fish we could not wait. Upon arrival I was shocked at the ram shackle appearance of the whole place and had to check we were at the correct place. Scruffy & untidy describe it well. the food however was even more of a let down, bland with no flavour . The presentation was appalling. with what looked like 1 potato with the sides cut off & some very unappealing broccoli, limp & tasteless. How " The Sportsman" has a Michelin star I will never understand. maybe they have lost it now as there is no mention of it on the website. However, Michelin star or not the food & ambience did not reflect the price being asked. I did voice my disappointment at the time & my bill was reduced. I would not recommend "The Sportsman" on any level there are far better local eateries in the town which provide better food at a much lower cost

I've been here a couple of times for special occasions and my partner decided to treat me to a nice lunch. They have a pretty reasonable lunch menu for £19.17 for 2 courses. It's quite a small menu but the food we chose was excellent. My partner had the bang bang chicken skewers and chicken in a white wine sauce. I had the mozzarella salad to start followed by the vegan curry. The food was pretty good, although some of the green beans in the curry were a little but hard. As it was Halloween I just had to try the scary pumpkin desert! It was huge actually so enough for 2 of us. It wasn't listed on the menu but I had seen it advertised on the website and they were more than happy to oblige me. Overall a really lovely meal, just a few little touches missing from when we had been previously, they didn't offer to hang our jackets and there was no white table cloth on the table just paper placemats. This didn't take away from our lovely experience but just little touches that set the Ivy apart from other restaurants. With the set menu and a couple of drinks and coffee with desert the bill came to around £80. Quite expensive for lunch but a nice treat. Top tip.... its so worth joining the executive club and down loading the app as you collect points and get money off and special offers.
