Food is good value for money, but lacking in any care. The service is basic, to say the least, and whilst Brandon was cheerful and helpful, there is no actual customer service, and unless sat in the bar area tend to be forgotten about

I'm sorry to say I've had food here in the past and was good . Today I took my family out for dinner my grandsons had the kids Sunday roast dinner. what was very disappointing when a two year old saying yuck it's doesn't bowed well. beef over cooked roast potatos reheat cheap frozen . The steaks was also over cooked to what was ordered i had a combo meal and the chips was cold sorry to say not a happy visit.

Was placed on table by toilets, there was a strong smell of piss. Food was over cooked. We spent around £200+ for 9 my daughters birthday meal. A week or so later my youngest daughter got a £100 parking ticket, despite observing rules and entering her reg correctly on Europarks system on bar, as we walked in. Europarks rejected appeal, lied about not recieving proof of meal, drinks, dessert receipt, which was sent at time of appeal. We have been here and spent big sums over years, but never going back again. Manager was not bothered by ticket, pointng at Europarks at fault. WHAT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

It's a nice pub, went here a few days after the new year when it was really quiet, so for me it was a pleasant atmosphere.

Beef rib was amazing and the fish and chips is such good value for money on the two for deal. Staff were freindly and the pub is very cosy.

There were 26 of us that came for a birthday meal on New Years Eve. I feel I need to praise the young girl behind the bar. She was on her own and did absolutely amazing. She coped so well under pressure. The whole night was very nice. Thank you.

Paid £220 for Xmas meal,,waited an hour for starters,,an hour for main,which was very poor quality,,and then no dessert,,dreadful experience,,many customers suffered terribly and left upset and disappointed and disgusted with the whole experience!

Very disappointing Christmas meal. Service was slow, no communication from the staff and the Christmas dinner….the turkey was ok, but that was it. Waited almost an hour for starters, one was wrong but didn’t say anything as didn’t want to wait any longer. Wait for the main course was even longer. When we asked we were told there were 128 people for dinner! If you can’t provide for that many you shouldn’t have taken bookings. Can see why you wanted payment the day before!! We heard complaints from many others, so did anyone actually get a decent service? The Christmas dinner….hard parsnips, carrots, broccoli and sprouts. Undercooked pigs in blankets….like I said only the turkey was nice. Waited ages for the plates to be cleared away and then another long wait for the pudding. Didn’t bother staying for the coffee and mince pies, we had all had enough. If we were told they were short of staff etc we would have been more understanding, but no, just get told how many people they have for dinner. We have been out for Christmas dinner several times and this was a big disappointment, would not go back ever and definitely wouldn’t recommend.

Christmas Day dinner......what a disaster!!!! All meals pre ordered as requested, and we were on the first sitting at 12 o'clock. There were 4 adults and one toddler in our group. It was 1pm ( after chasing it up) before we got a simple prawn cocktail starter!! Then about 2.10pm before we got any mains, then only 2 roasts came out then further gap before we got the other 2 steak meals. The steak was awful as was sooo overcooked and was supposed to be medium rare. Didn't dare send it back as thought just do not have another hour to wait for replacement. After chasing and saying we now need our desserts and the coffee together as had just been there far too long, we got those quickish about 2.50pm. The next sitting at 3pm were all arriving now. Complaints re wait all over the place and many people had left without their dessert and coffee as gave up waiting. The pub had planned it so they had the two sittings 12 and 3 ( we heard some people say their bookings for 1pm had been moved by pub to 12) presumably this was to make life easier/keep things simple???? But despite doing this they seemed completely unable to cope and the organisation was horrendous instead of bringing out all the starters first which seemed logical as we'd all arrived togerher and many were simple preprepared things like prawn cocktail or soup they were all over the place serving completely randomly with some people were getting mains when many of us had not got a starter. Then later some people on their coffee when us and others still waiting for main course!!!! An absolute shambles!!!! Children were understandably getting fed up. This is the 3rd year I've been out for Christmas Day dinner and been somewhere else previous two years which was also Greene King pub and that was all very organised. Thought we'd have a change of scenery this year and try C and H but oh dear that really was a huge mistake!!! The whole experience was absolutely awful and completely unacceptable.

One of my favourite restaurants to go to. I always would bring my kids here for a meal and have booked several times here for birthdays. Staff are incredibly friendly and efficient. The food is to die for and the food challenges are always amazing. Good place to take your children the kids menu is pretty good and the atmosphere is good.

2nd time in 2 weeks cold food.and like cardboard.waited over 1,5hs No ice cream ,no fudge cake ,ordered a child's ice cream and apple pie had to ask several times took over 45 mins.last resort ordered a coffee and again lukw warm..what has happened to this pup.a party of six all left deflated

Went for breakfast with santa, kids loved it santa was great spent alot of time talking to the kids made it very special for them. Staff are very friendly great service and lovely vibe definitely recommend

Hannah is absolutely lovely, keeping the pub alive with outstanding service, nothing was to much trouble. Wtg and thank you for the interaction with my son and going out your way for making sure the table was happy, can't wait to come back. X

My family have used the coach and horses for many years lots of different occasions. We have had birthdays uni leaving parties also sometimes we just pop in for a beer and burger, they always have great promotions on so you save money as well as have quality family time. Whatever the occasion the staff always give a warm welcome with a massive smile, they always do there best to accommodate any special requirements we may have nothing is too much trouble ever. We can even take our dog it's brilliant he gets a bowl of water and lots of cuddles everytime. Highly recommend

Friendly pub with good value food. Staff were very helpful, especially Ben. Also like that the pub is dog friendly, so the whole family can go out together.

The food is really good quality and reasonably priced too. The service can not be beaten. The customer service skills of the staff there is impeccable and you feel like you're in a warm, homely environment as soon as you enter. Family friendly, but also a nice little place for couples to enjoy quality time together. You can see that the team there is managed well and that the management teams clearly lead by example, which is rare to find these days. Customer focus is obviously a priority here. I 100% would recommend for everyone.

Booked for family dinner. Wanted a coffee but no milk. The beef roast was missing half the beef. Dinners were not very warm. Puddings came out missing the ice cream to which we were told they had run out of but not told that or offered something else when we ordered them & payed... On the whole not a great experience.

So disappointed. Came for a family dinner. There were 5 of us all adults. Busy Sunday afternoon with football on and most tables booked out for food, but no where near enough staff, took 15 mins to get a drink. We all ordered the roast dinners. The food came out cold, the beef roast had 1 slice of meat. The roast potatoes were small and soggy, not crispy and the worst potatoes I’ve been served. Ordered a coffee but there was no milk as they had run out. Ordered puddings, when they came out there was no ice cream with them. When we asked we were told they had run out of that too but we were not told this when ordering or offered an alternative. Plus even though we complained, there was no apology or offer of discount or compensation. Ruined out family day, such a shame. Will not be going back there for food.

Food is pretty rubbish but staff are lovely. Allow dogs throughout the pub which is nice but wish the food was a bit better quality. £15 steak was very fatty and quite small. Time before that my burger was very pink and mushy.

Beware the parking charges!!! Stopped here for a drink - didn't see anything about registering my vehicle - stung with a £100 parking charge, staff didn't warn me, nothing on website.

Come in for food the other day and would definitely return. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, service of food was quick and cooked to perfection. Recommend popping in if you are in the area

Good basic pub with reasonably priced food.

Usually, I come here every couple of months and always look forward to the food even when waiting over an hour on busy nights, but tonight I was very disappointed. Couldn't order the combo dinner as it was supposedly out of stock despite everything being available to order separately. Usually, I love the macaroni cheese, but today came out tasting like powder and Luke warm. There was too much dressing on the side salad, and the garlic bread was anaemic. The wait staff didn't even ask how our food was despite the place being half empty. I ate what I could and left. My partner and son thoroughly enjoyed their chicken and rib combo, and i enjoyed my breaded mushroom starter, so it's not a total waste. I will try again one more time when I'm ready to go back and hope the chef was having an off night. If it improves, my review will be updated.

I had a great lunch here today with my 8 year old. Our server - Jess - was very helpful and also very patient whilst my daughter was deciding what ice cream she wanted.

I use the Coach and Horses on regular basis. Tonight however wasn't the best experience we have had down there. Took forever to get food delivered to table from kitchen! When enquiring where food was, we were told pub had a massive influx of people! Also nearly all that we ordered wasn't available. Strange as pub was nearly empty!!! Think, we were not alone in asking where their food was.? Really no need for this as they took our money, with no problems.!! Again as I have mentioned before, might not be going here to this pub again??

Popped in for lunch with friends whilst visiting the area. Quick service at the bar, by a friendly crew member who also gave us a recommendation of food to try. Place was clean and tidy, food arrived quickly and staff were friendly.

Been coming here every 4 months for food and park in the same place every time no problem. Me my wife and daughter came and had food 7 weeks ago and then get a parking fine for 100 pound!! I went back and spoke to the barman and he said if you send your proof of payment from card to appeal they should clear it so I done that and no they rejected it! Why would anyone want to go for food and be charged £100 for using there carpark! Never been a problem before! Had to wait an hour for food the day I went to! Never visiting there again for this disgusting treatment! The parking people have said the transaction doesn’t say the date when it clearly does! Someone needs to sort this out now as I will not be paying and I will take legal action for this!!!!

Could be cleaner but after a bad experience with a staff member, manager reached out and rectified the issue.

Ate there today and ordered a mixed grill it came out and I was told the sausages and onion rings will be out in a minute as they took longer too cook, I never got either items.

Lovely staff and great choice in the new menu, the staff help with recommendations and are chatty and sweet. We’ll go back again.

Excellent service. Cheery waitress. We had the Seniors meal which was enough for us old ones! Only one minor criticism and nothing to do with the food but it was quite dark and we moved tables to find one that was lighter.

Updated after visit this week. No pies, no pastry items, no vanilla ice cream. Different staff and barman not very friendly. Seemed unable to smile. Shame really. July 2024. Lily and Harry very helpful and attentive. Great value food. Table could have been cleaner but was quickly rectified.

Popped in today for a cheeky pint, walked inside to a pleasant atmosphere and a big hello and smile from the waitress,The wife was feeling peckish so we decided to have a little something, although it wasn’t overly busy our meals still came out in record time, was piping hot and looked exactly how they do on the menu! We were stuffed so declined on the puddings that were offered I’m afraid, the pub is a great little find and will definitely return next time we’re in Cosham.

Myself and my family were on holiday at Pagham. And decided to go to Portsmouth for the day.We then went to the Coach and Horse Pub on the London Road, Hilsea the staff were amazing and very professional and a credit to Green King ( Flaming Grill ). I will recommend this pub to everyone very friendly and nice and professional people that work there. WELL DONE

The meal was great and tastey but it was heavily let down by the sick left festering in the male toilets!

I took a good friend who had not been to Coach & Horses for lunch before, and as whenever I take friends there she had an enjoyable time. Both Ben -who was managing the shift- and Hannah, the busy but always happy waitress- were both personable and attentive. Mo -the manager of the busy pub and eatery- was herself running the kitchens. I had asked to book a particular table and when we arrived it was ready for us. My friend had a rib-eye steak meal, and when it arrived she said it was 'just as it should be.' Neither of us could then manage a sweet after our ample meals. I had recently taken a group of 4 student-age lads -2 of them from US- to the Coach & Horses for evening meals. They chose the rack of ribs and other similar diner-type meals, and all said that they were 'as good as anything back home.' So all in all -as whenever I regularly take friends whether in small or larger groups- the Coach & Horses proves to be my most regular and reliable 'go to' place for a dependable and reliable time.

I've been coming here multiple times and I have never been disappointed once when it comes to both food and service. The staff are lovely and extremely patient. Easiest 5/5 in my life, highly, highly recommended.

Oh dear..came here for midweek steak specials for son's bday last night..a wed.Was barely busy atall..waited around 15/20mins just to order..girl on till very slow..The lady infront..was no1 else in queue..commented to us you would find it hard to get drunk at that rate lol.Then..realised we had waited nearly an hour for our food to come out when we were approached and told sorry they had "forgotton" to put our food order through to kitchen!!The lad apologised and offered us a free round of drinks.The food then took a further half hour to come out.It was ok bog standard peas a bit dried looking.It was a quiet night and they "forgot" their customers...not a great bday meal experience for son though he did like his steak.We won't be back.Originally we were going to have dessert too but decided not to bother as we would prob be waiting ages for that too.

Friendly helpful staff when we popped in for a pint on June 24th. Easy parking, just remember to log reg. number. Will eat next time.

Had a quick lunch stop and ordered a lamb flatbread from the board by the bar. Very tasty with nsshville sauce and super friendly staff. Served within 10 minutes. Must go again.

Haven't been here for a long time but was able to book a table online to watch the England game. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding and the drinks were really well priced. The atmosphere was great and I'll definitely start coming back more often. Great pub!

Staff aok and a fair choice of beers but their food availability seems to always be a long wait or about to close early as their chef has gone home or just not there! This happens most nights!
