Had a great day at the Swiss Cottage, food was delicious, Kevin and his team were very welcoming and gave excellent service thank you will definitely be returning

90th birthday party! They gave us the conservatory which is very pleasant and overlooks the lake. Food was very good and plentiful and nothing we asked for was too much trouble. The bar kept an eye on our drinks and requests were supplied very quickly. Only thing that could have been better was that none of the food platters were labelled. Fabulous, friendly staff so an excellent experience and definitely be back.

Visited here Friday lunchtime with husband, daughter and grandson. We used to come regularly, but toward Autumn of 2022 there were staffing issues and a party we had organised was cancelled on the same day. So we hadn't been back since, but daughter suggested we go on Grandson's inset day and give it a try. Well, what a change. Lovely staff, superb food and excellent service. This will be our regular once again. We even got the table we had always had, in the corner by the window overlooking the lake. Its lovely to see it bustling again as it is such a good venue.

Fantastic confit duck. Had today very much enjoyed. Noticed one of the ducks missing if the lake. Hope that wasn’t my lunch 😂. Friendly staff Calum was lovely and patient with me. Be back again soon.

When we arrive we found the staff all female to be not welcoming or friendly. One of the chairs at our table was very wobbly and when we pointed this out the member of staff just dragged it away and didn't replace it for us!!! On ordering our food one of us wanted the garlic ciabatta as a starter and was told no!!!! Food arrived hair on one plate scampi soggy and when my daughter stuck her fork in it it spurted out water. Rest of meals were OK not great just OK. Ordered a 2nd meal for my daughter which we were going to pay for as we are not complainers. When we went to pay a male had just started his shift and what a breathe of fresh air he was, polite friendly and great customer service skills. He asked if our meals were OK and when I told him about the soggy scampi and hair on plate he removed the meal from the bill and was very apologetic. If he had been there from start would probably be a higher star rating and if he hadn't been on shift at all would have been a lower score.

The starters were very disappointing, the calamari was laughable with what can only be called a paupers portion and was cold

Visited to try out the new specials that i had seen advertised and settled on trying the new Shepherds pie which was very good and good value.staff were friendly. Will be back to try the Duck.

The food here was very nice although portion size is small.You can have drinks but not food till 12 pm so sat waiting till that time because staff wouldn't even take the order either till then. All in all is was ok and worth the visit but not sure I'd detour here again. 7/10

My birthday meal with the family - food was amazing - good value - dads in a wheel chair and had no problem at all - manager I think his name was Kev - very welcoming and friendly- will definitely be back and recommend to my friends 10/10

My family turned up in time for our meal which booked for 1pm, staff were very pleasant and happy to take us to our table. And serve us drinks before we ordered our food. Food came out in very good time and was great.

Lovely restaurant with great food, lovely staff and a great atmosphere. The kids love the playground area and the pond with fish and ducks, you can buy food to feed them too! Dog friendly and a lovely Al fresco eating area. They also have things on fairly often and it's all reasonably priced. We really like it here, it's one of those everyday gems.

We had our boxing day meal here yesterday. They perfectly accommodated 21 of us and catered so well for all of the children too. The manager was brilliant and made sure we were all happy and looked after. It was wonderful, my mum has already asked if we can book again for next year. 🙂 Thank you to all of the staff that looked after us.

Xmas eve 3 course meal deal, my self and my wife totally enjoyed every bit of the meal.steak cooked great roast excellent the desserts were mmmm.we will be back so.

It was lovely!! I come here every couple of months and the pub was so wonderfully decorated, clean and tidy and the food was delicious!! the drinks were lovely and the staff were as nice as ever :) , even during the busy period.

My friend and I come here for lunch every Monday. There's always a warm welcome. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the Guinness is good and the food is always tasty and very good value for money.

We went there for our family Christmas meal and I have to say the food was lovely fresh beautiful cooked .😍 The staff were great really friendly and happy to help, we had 6 kids running around but we were placed nicely round the side so we did not disturb anyone and our little ones could play Thank you so much we would definitely recommend 😊

We love it here ... child and dog friendly ... great food ... nothings too much trouble ... clean surroundings and nice outdoor garden, pond and eating area .... top marks for a disabled toilet big enough to manoeuvre a wheelchair, carer and person in.

An enjoyable evening spent at the RNLI quiz there. Great evening, lots of fun and good company. The food was excellent. Spot on.

Awful roast dinner , carrots were raw and I mean raw, potatoes were frozen ones meat awful, can’t call it cauliflower cheese it was glue , just awful , finished with the microwave cottage

We popped in on a Sunday lunchtime and were lucky enough to get a table for 5 and the dog. Staff and service were great, friendly. The food was really good, I had the burger and it was superb, we all enjoyed our meal and the puddings.

Service was excellent and the food was extremely good. Our freinds had the fish and chips and told me that it was the best that they had for a long time, the fish was well cooked and moist. My wife had the scampi and she said it was really good too. I opted for the steak and ale pie which was also very good, everything was well cooked and all meals well presented, if I had to find something to say that could have been better, it would be the mash that I opted for instead of chips, it was too thick for my taste, but some might like it that way and you can't cater for everyones taste, it was good none the less so no problems at all. the staff were very attentive. Desert for me was a chocolate bomb which was very good, my wife had eton mess and was impressed with the size of it, she said it was excellent too. One glasse of wine, one double gin and lemonade, one spritzer and two cups of tea for me as the driver and the bill worked out ate about twenty three pounds a head. I'd say that's a win win lunch for us.

We prebooked for a Monday lunch time in October and were given a table in the window overlooking the lake. Friendly staff, extensive menu, good food and excellent value for money. We had a drink each and pie, Katsu chicken and ham,egg and chips. The food took approximately 20 mins to arrive. It was hot and very tasty. Very generous portions. Lots of parking, extensive outdoor seating area overlooking the lake. I’m sure it’s very nice in the summer. They do accept Bluelight card on full price food but on on offers such as two meals for £15. Recommended when in the area.

Visited the Swiss a few times with family now. Lovely garden with a beautiful lake with the opportunity to feed ducks which is great for my younger cousins. Food has always been great especially the fish and chips and the katsu curry. The team have always been welcoming to me and my family. Has got a nice family atmosphere especially with the events that have been held here which is welcoming to all ages. Would highly recommend

Sadly the food wasn’t nice at all. We waited an hour for it too. I ordered Macaroni Cheese. It was beige and insipid … NO cheese on the top just soft and pale, tasteless. The rocket garnish was wilted and warm. Such a shame … We were with family out for lunch, the others had fish and chips which were ok, and Hunters Chicken which was ok but the chips were hard and dry. Very disappointing indeed.

Booked a surprise birthday lunch for my husband. The buffet choices were great, the food was lovely and the price was pretty reasonable. All in all we had a lovely time.

Popped in on a weekday for lunch. Had lunch club menu of choice of sandwiches served with amazing chips and a drink. Very good value for money. Food was lovely, hot and well presented. Waitress, Jade, was friendly and helpful as we had a dairy allergy. Will definitely return soon.

About 50 years since I had been here - the day that Charlie married Di - and I guess that the place hadn't changed much. Very slow service! Sequestered in the bar because we hadn't booked a table although most of the tables in the 'restaurant' remained empty! I guess that this is usual for a Monday lunchtime. Maybe they didn't want 'oldies' in their restaurant area lowering the tone of the place. ALL the guests where we were were all over the age of 60, whilst those in the 'restaurant ' area were all 30 to 40. Food, fish and chips took almost 40 minutes to arrive, there were only eight covers when we ordered, so why 40 minutes? Really slow service considering the fact that we actually saw five waiting staff in our area! Restaurant area was almost empty when we left so I guess that the hour we were there no 'booked' guests arrive and we could easily have taken a table.

Nice place, but a bit plain and dowdy. Staff were friendly but the menu wasn't great. I had fishcakes which were excellent but others weren't so happy. Parking is limited

The organiser of our event had been in contact regularly over the last few weeks to make sure that all was well & sorted When I arrived I found out that our buffet was not being provided, and further, we were put in another part of the building

What a lovely place to go for lunch, or even just a drink. It is in a very nice setting with a beautiful garden that has a lake with ducks and fish. You have views of this from inside the restaurant. The food is really good and value for money. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend it! We have been back multiple times and never been disappointed.

The pub has a fantastic garden, and I’ve been eager to try it out for a while. So, I decided to book a table for my husband’s surprise birthday party. The booking process was straightforward, and the staff I spoke with over the phone were friendly and helpful. They even allowed us to bring our own cake, which was a nice touch. I opted for the buffet option and was advised repeatedly over the phone not to order too much food because the portions are “quite generous.” With this in mind, I pre-paid for food for 14 people, even though our party included 17 adults and 4 kids (3 plus a baby). When the food was served, I went to the bar to ask if more was coming because the amount seemed insufficient (see the picture). The answer was quite rude ‘well you’ve only paid for 14 people’… this was the total number (if not less)of adults attending the event at the end….I had paid just under £170 for the buffet, and it didn’t seem like much. Later, I also realized that the crudités were never brought out—they were completely forgotten. By the end of the event, there were only a few sandwiches left, but it’s worth noting that some guests canceled last minute, and the kids barely ate anything (perhaps a sandwich or two, but they were only 2 and 5 years old). If you’re considering ordering a buffet here, be cautious. You may end up paying mostly for sandwiches with a few other items, if you’re lucky enough to get everything you paid for. £170 = what you see in the picture (with a few items missing since I didn’t think to take a photo beforehand, as people usually take pictures of food that looks good and tempting).

I come here verry frequently with my family its a lovley pub and restaurant.The food is always delicious and always kept warm,the pub staff are well mannered and efficient especially Tammy and Elaine who never fail to make me and my family feel welcomed they both always have a smile on their face,it's a amazing pub in general I highly recommend.

Another good visit to The Swiss Cottage. We took our friends down with their little girl who thoroughly enjoyed feeding the Ducks and the playground. We went on the Saturday of the bank holiday weekend and it was busy with a reptile event which we paid for which was amazing. Will be back

The food was awful we all got something different and none of us enjoyed our food at all it’s not the staff it’s the ingredients are so poor and what is there is cooked well at all and it cost loads more then the green man and the food doesn’t match up any where near

Went in for a Sunday roast after a long walk with the family. We were met with a lovely welcome and great service. Right from ordering drinks to food. The specials were recommended and great care was taking in delivering an outstanding roast. I had the lamb and the better half had a duo. Our daughter had the Schnitzel. All washed down with a perfect Guinness. I would highly recommend the pub and food. The team were super accommodating, friendly and went above and beyond. Especially when observing what they did for all the families trying to take cover from the rain. I would like to write more but my dessert has arrived. Highly recommend and worth a visit.

Average pub with pleasant enough staff, always feels like they don’t have enough staff for the amount of people there. Food is on the nicer side of middle of the road but nothing amazing. Have found it to be consistent, over the times we have been. I would go again and recommend it for a reasonably priced meal out.

Excellent all round. Kev and his team are very thorough on making sure you are satisfied from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. The bar and waiting staff are exceptional, they are not happy unless you are. Excellent all round Kev, I cannot say enough about the Swiss cottage, excellent service, excellent atmosphere, excellent staff, just excellent all round, you will be seeing more of us that's for sure

We had a variation of dishes,hunters chicken,mixed grill,macaroni,beef. All were piping hot and plentiful. My steak was cooked to perfection. As always the staff were very good. But i will single out a young lad named calum. He was very polite,efficient and busy!. Well done guys.

Came to the Swiss Cottage today with the family the food was great and the staff are really friendly but some of your customers had a real problem with Patience. You can’t get mad at staff, if one minute they are dead in the pub and 10 minutes later they are busy, that is what this trade is. So please be nice to them

Lovely spot for a great lunch. Had a chicken wrap with chips, nice cold coca-cola. Lovely grass area for the kids to play. Can also grab some duck food for feeding the ducks.

went on a thursday our starters took an hour to arrive the nachos were burnt, when our mains came out no one bothered to ask how our food was and left the dirty plates from the stater on our table

it was football night so it was very loud but they kindly sat us round a corner and turned our speaker off so we could hear the conversations better. staff were helpful and sorted mix up with food no problem. nice place.

Came here at lunchtime,wasn’t busy at all,the staff were ok,salad came with only lettuce,onions no tomato and no feta,chicken schnitzel was so greasy,

Food was pretty poor to be honest and didn’t include any of the salad it was meant to come with. Opened a bottle of ketchup and about 20 ants came out and went all over the table. That kind of put us off the whole place. The saving grace is that we weren’t charged a fortune for the food - very good prices and I cannot fault the service. All of the team were super polite and friendly and very apologetic for the ant situation!

Came in on Thursday and had a lovely meal was served by a sweet young man called Calum. You could tell he took real pride in his job and aided the true greene king hospitality that really positively affected my meal. I can strongly say I will be back again and this young man should be given a raise. As he remind me of the memories and love for the pub that I have had since I was little and came with my parents.

Had a lovely time Sunday with my family. The lamb shank roast was to die for. Definitely be back. Got to try out more of the rest of the menu. Those desserts look lush. Especially the Eton mess

Been going to the Swiss Cottage for years and always enjoyed the food, went last Saturday ordered a rump steak which was very difficult to eat, the waitress did change it, went Sunday for the Sunday Roast which has always been lovely but this time was very disappointing, the potatoes looked like boiled potatoes and the Yorkshire puddings where extremely greasy. Such a shame, the staff are very friendly and helpful, but they need to change the chef!

Came here for Sunday lunch with with my family. Pub garden is beautiful and overlooks a large lake. Really enjoyed the Roast Lamb. Good selection of drinks Good service from the staff who were very busy.

The only thing wanted a mix grill but unfortunately that there was no more of that but had the gammon egg chips peas. And I was so full im so pleased that I didn't have the mixed grill 😋 food was brilliant 😋

The food was nice and hot, but meat was tough, lasagne mediocre, scampi OK. Desserts were all very tasty, drink were what you expect. There was a boat club party outside they were very well behaved, the staff were very attentive amid such l large numbers we weren't forgotten

Great food in a lovely setting.

We had roasts on Sunday and were unfortunately disappointed. The beef, although cooked rare which i prefer, was extremely salty. The roast potatoes were hard and barely cooked, the parsnips were solid and although the menu states seasonal vegetables, we only got a few carotts.

Had a lovely lunch at the Swiss, the croquettes are excellent and the panna cotta is so delicious. Having a few ciders to wash it all down by the lake whilst the sun was out is a highlight. Would recommend this spot!
