The best restaurants serving British food in South East

Sadly waited awhile for our food only to discover it had been given to another table!

Me and my partner eat out quite regularly in the area and have tried a lot of local pubs but i can say with out a doubt this pub has the most welcoming atmosphere the owners are very nice, warm and friendly. The food in this place is an absolutely fantastic home cooked delight. I'm looking forward to working through the menu so far everything been lovely especially the mushroom starter. Can't recommend this place enough

The do a weekday OAP lunch menu. Great value and nice sized portions. Highly recommended.

Massively gone downhill with new management. Very unwelcoming, rude staff. We used to love walking here but not what it used to be.

Food was fine and ready etc but I emailed when I ordered as my 20% discount for my first order was on there then disappeared AS I paid. So I was overcharged. I haven’t had a response from my email yet but maybe they were busy

We come back here every time we are in town. Friendly staff and authentic British pub serving real ale. Never disappoints.

This was a birthday treat from my wife , it’s a combination of quaint with some modern additions in terms of the rooms and obviously the place still needs some attention but was welcoming enough as we were only staying for the night . Food wise the menu is decent enough , the mains , desserts and breakfast were of good quality . The atmosphere was warm , welcoming and quite steady with patrons , some with dogs .

Small kitchen so be prepared for a wait for large groups 15+, especially if you haven't preordered. Food was amazing. Every dish that came out I had FOMO about.

The fat duck dishes were excellent. A great way try them without the whole experience and cost. Other than that it’s just an over priced pub with a lack of decent beers on tap. Seems lost in it’s purpose.

A bit disapointing - the food was ok but not great for the price in particular compared to other venues in Brighton - bad luck with the service with staff looking overwhelmed with a fully booked restaurant

Came for lunch, had the fish and meat sharer, was all lovely! Our waitress was Kiera, very friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful, had a great experience

Half the meals are missing no chips in either order

Came for the carvery, was fine but the staff treat their delivery drivers like second class citizens. STAND OVER THERE, ITS READY WHEN ITS READY. Jesus christ

We were served by Lee He was very polite Plus extremely helpful And my daughter and granddaughter enjoyed there meal , I could not finish my meal as I always have the chicken which was excellent but very filling
