It's a genuine country pub, mostly serving locals, with typical pub grub (food). The reason it's mostly a local is that there is no passing trade. If you don't live in the village, you have to choose to go there and make a bit of an effort. But that effort is rewarded. Good beer; tasty food; a glorious garden; friendly landlady. It's one of those pubs with no pretentions; not a tourist destination, but a very typical 'local' in a Surrey village.

We arrived at the pub at 18.15, the bar person told us abruptly that she was on her own. We went and sat in the garden. We were told no food till 1930 as she was on her own, and she had 1 table booked in, so that's six meals missed out on. Very abrupt and dismissive may think twice next time don't advertise an offer if you can't deliver it.

Booked up a table for four adults at 13:45 on 31 Aug 23. The place has so much character and is tucked away in the village of Ewshot. We were given the table under the TV screen in the main bar area which was absolutely fine. Drinks are realistically priced with a pint of Moretti costing £5:60 and a large glass of house Sauvignon Blanc £6:95. Our food was divine, with two of us having the Cod & Chips but as there was no peas we opted for the baked beans instead. My wife and mother-in- law both opted for a curry each (one Chicken and one Lamb) and these were both excellent they said. We were served by a very friendly and efficient lady who made us feel right at home. Excellent service and food. Would certainly recommend but be advised to book in advance as it does get busy.

We booked the function room for our baby shower in March and it couldn’t have gone better. Jules put on a fantastic afternoon tea, including delicious homemade cakes and scones. It had been about 7 years since I last visited this pub - set in a small, peaceful village outside of Farnham. Back then it was very pleasant, but only really, occasionally busy on a Sunday lunch time and afternoon, when serving food. I was pleasantly shocked and surprised how incredibly busy it was - both inside and outside. They’ve done a nice job with the outside rear, and all the locals were as pleasant as ever. Drinks only, but the food, which was being served to other customers, at the time, looked very nice indeed.

My friend and I had a drive out today and were hoping to find a nice little out of the way pub, found The Windmill quite by accident. I asked the very friendly young man behind the bar if they were doing food but sadly because he was the only one working he could only provide pizza and chips. I did not want pizza so this lovely young man (think his name is Daryl) offered to cook something off the menu for us. I had pasta and garlic bread, my friend the chicken goujons and chips. Both were excellent. I love my food piping hot and this certainly was. The wine and coffee were excellent too and prices reasonable. 10/10 for Daryl and fantastic service. The food and pub both great. I will certainly return and have already mentioned The Windmill to several of my friends and family.

Brought my father for lunch last week, and quite possibly the worst lunch I have had across three counties - we go to a different pub every week for lunch. My baked potato felt like yesterday’s re-heated, impossible to cut through the skin and the smallest I have seen in a long while. My father had egg and chips - rubbery ping-pong egg and 12 chips! To add insult to injury it was expensive and really poor value for money. Service took a long time. Exterior and garden attractive, but inside doesn’t know what it is - modern tables, collection of mismatched tatty chairs, fairy lights all over and a interesting fireplace.

Popped into the Windmill after local country walk with the dog. Used to come here years ago, attracted by the unspoilt interiors and landscaped gardens which included a putting golf course. So happy that the place still rocks! Freshened up, but not over-gentrified, (dog) friendly welcome, Britpop tunes and a smattering of locals. Easy parking. Brunch included: a plate of the freshest whitebait we've had in years, served up with epic rustic granary bread and hone-made tartare sauce. Legendary Ploughmans, passing all tests: generous strong Cheddar and creamy Stilton, vine tomatoes, pickled onions, grapes, cucumber wedges and damm fine home-made onion marmalade. All washed down with couple pints local ale in great condition.Friendly, attentive service, young, keen back-of-house crew, clean, warm, good vibes, what's not to like? brunches could become a regular thing here. Sunday lunches popular here, with whole roast chicken and veg for 4 for £35. Simples.

Lovely old pub with real locals in it and great landscaped garden with putting green. Garden tables in need of a bit of repair though and a few more sunshades wouldn't go amiss in this amazing summer. Some great reviews on line so think we must have chosen the wrong meals which were ploughmans lunches but think a ploughman would have been disappointed at the quantity and cost: over 11 quid!! Great bread though but not enough and pickled onions must have been in vinegar for a very long time as they made our faces contort. Will try something else next time because this is a real local and should be preserved

We have just got back from the pub this bank holiday Monday - we had to wait about an hour and a half for our food and there weren't that many people there. Eventually the food came and one dish was wrong - we had ordered chilli with nachos and cheese and it arrived as chilli with rice. The waitress said they'd begun to run out of nachos yesterday, so changed the dish to rice instead but forgot to change the menu. She then said that we could actually have the nachos, but it would take a while as they would have to start all over again. At this point we told them to forget it. The bar service was extremely slow too and the man seemed to be very unsure and inexperienced. Food was overpriced, which I could have accepted if service was up to par but it fell very short indeed. There was only one umbrella for shade in the garden which was nowhere near enough. We won't be back in a hurry!

Great selection to drink, delicious meals (I will never forget the amazing home-made pate). Great atmosphere, and would there be a party for families, there's a special kids' room (with sleeping bags if the party is planned to be longer, ie new year's). The only thing what can go wrong, if the (drunk) guests get messy with the bluetooth music system (right from their iPhones) :-). But that's only to some who's expecting the party to be silent, normally, this craze is part of the night, right?

Popped in on the off chance with a few friends and decided to go for one of the vegetarian food options. Usually vegetarian food is not very appealing, however here they had really made an effort and I later found out the owner is a Vegetarian, so she gets it.The veggie sausages + mash + oodles of rich gravy + red cabbage was awesome. This was accompanied with fresh carrots and a bit of savoy cabbage. This wasn't just a bit of food, this was well prepared, well thought out quality vegetarian food. 5*s in that respect. Also opted for a pint of real ale at 3.7 percent that tasted awesome. This is a pub that knows how to care for it's beer and it shows.Lovely pub, lovely food and a big thanks on having something veggie existing to eat. What a great evening. So basically it was £15 for 6 different gins plus tonic if needed and nibbles. It was a very relaxed evening, each gin came with a little background with it, explained by the landlady. Nothing to heavy which was great. On our evening the gins were all either English or Scottish, I believe the theme is changed each time, so not to be repetitive. If I were to make any comments about the evening it would of been there could of been a few more nibbles, but for £15 it was well worth the money and I will definitely return hopefully next time.Well done The Windmill,

Found this pub kinda by accident on Sunday afternoon whilst taking the grand kids on a drive, ended up at the play park at Ewshot (lovely park), and then decided to get a pub lunch. We came across the Windmill and were impressed by the old style country pub feel as we walked in and made our way to the lovely garden at the rear, the kids loved it and immediately started a game of hide n seek, there is a putting green to play for a deposit of £2 for a club although there was a competition on when we visited which looked fun, with prizes for all kiddies taking part. We ordered some ploughmans lunches, and chips (wedges) for the kids, and they had squash served in 'jam jars' which they loved ... The cheese ploughmans was excellent, served with pickles, chutney, apple, grapes, cheddar, Brie and blue cheese etc (the bread had gone a little hard rather than being lovely and soft but didn't spoil the meal). My only gripe would be when trying to get served for another drink, I hopped between front and side bar before being asked for my order and several people walked in the door after me and got served straight away ... Staff could be a little more aware of who has been waiting patiently. To be fair there was a christening party on that day, but never the less good bar staff should be aware of customers that have been waiting.I am fairly new to the area and this pub is just a twelve minute drive away from us and very worthy of being our 'local'. Staff all seemed very nice, and there was a lovely atmosphere, all in all a pleasant experience and I would recommend this pub for a visit and will definitely visit again myself.

Fantastic as always - now serving Nepalese Sherpa food on a Monday night, along with traditional, freshly cooked British cuisine. The Nepalese food, cooked by gentleman from the Sherpa Kitchen in Esher, was wonderful. As always, Jill's UK food was also outstanding.

A great village pub with an open fire and lovely garden. The Sunday roast was outstanding and the real ale spot on. The food is freshly prepared by a lady who is the co-owner and the Yorkshires were home made along with the puddings.

This is a cosy friendly village pub. Had a lovely roast, huge portions of fresh tasty food. Jill the chef is wonderful and lovingly makes the food. You may have to wait a while for your meal but its well worth the wait. It's best to call in advance if you want food and it will be ready when you want. Good beer. Also they have a big garden with a pitch and put golf course.A charming inviting friendly pub. Will go back for the Sunday roast.

Third visit for food, and frankly, fantastic, yet again. The very affable lady, Jill, genuinely cares about her cuisine, and is a talented chef, unequivocally. Today, she had fashioned a Vegetarian version of a 'Beef Wellington' - which was a mushroom/black olives/cheese/pesto filling - immense taste. Gravy great, and other elements were wonderful. Recommend this venue for families wanting an escape, from towns and cities. Great garden and views, Dog friendly as well.

Lovely pub in a nice village. They have a really nice pub garden and puting green which is quite unique. There pub quiz on the last Thursday of every month is lots of fun.Great selection of drinks but I wouldn't go here expecting fantastic food, it's more of a social pub that's great for a walking/cycling stop or local.

Visited here a few times, never disappoints. We ended up here after trying to take the dog for a walk on a very rainy and windy day to the nearby park. Decided to cut short the walk and go to pub instead. It was quite early so we were first in for lunch. I chose ham and cheese and red onion relish sandwich with a side order of chips, my OH had ham egg and chips. Whilst waiting the bar staff and customers were very chatty, one of the staff told us we could move nearer the fire to warm up so we took the dog into the other area as it was quiet (dogs are not normally allowed in this bit). The food arrived, proper cheddar, proper ham and proper deep fried chips done to perfection, heaven. I had lemon parfait and oh had apple crumble, the cook did try to persuade me to have ice cream as well. Love this pub, and their welcome, and they do dogs dinners, whats not to like. We will be booking it for a Sunday lunch soon.

We stopped here for lunch as part of a days walk and what a wonderful surprise. Great welcome from the locals even though we were disturbing their peace and quiet. The food menu is delightfully small as they use fresh ingredients and all food is cooked to order. I had salmon served with beetroot, spinach and sweet potato. All beautifully presented.I would not hesitate to go back. The blokes confirmed the beer was good too!

A.K.A the Windmill inn - this venue is located in the village of Ewshot. Pretty and traditional exterior aesthetics, coupled with a lovely view from the sizable rear gardens. The Inn itself is warm, welcoming and relaxed - staff were friendly, and attentive; my two friends (one who used to live in Ewshot), thoroughly enjoyed their Roast Pork Sunday Roast - I, myself, had the Vegetarian Roast, with an Onion Gravy - fantastic. The lady co-owner is very accommodating and clearly cares about the food, which she prepares herself. I will be returning, fortnightly, I have decided.

The Windmill has very much become our local. Cosy, welcoming and selling a good variety of real ales it is an ideal spot to rest up having been for a dog walk on the near by aldershot military training area. The staff are very hospitable and the Sunday Roast is to die for. The prices are very reasonable and we now routinely pop by every 2-3 weeks.

I recently visited (Feb2016) the Windmill for a Sunday lunch and was pleasantly surprised, delicious crisp home-made roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, sweet red cabbage, roasted parsnips and carrots, roast lamb in a rich gravy. The pudding of lemon parfait (a lemon mousse with crumbled meringue with raspberry coulis) was delicious. The setting was warm, traditional 'old pub' with a real fire, cosy seating and classic new decor, and friendly and attentive staff. This is a country pub and dogs are allowed in the bar area, there is a spacious country garden at the rear, sublime on a summers evening - I experienced many a happy afternoon here in my youth!

Been a few times over the last 6 months. In the summer we stop off after riding mtb's up on the Farnham hill - the garden is large and the staff are super friendly. In recent months we've been a couple of times with friends for drinks and food in the evening. The bar is very well laid out with 2 sides so whether you enjoy keeping an eye on the rugby or having a quiet drink they more than cater for everyone.Brilliant beers on tap and guest ales also, their little tuck shop with more than the usual array of crisps and nuts is also another great touch. There's a dart board for when people want to get a little more active and we've had some great times using it as a place to catch up with friends in the local area. The staff are unbelievably friendly and the service is perfect - we travel about 30mins to see friends who live local to the pub - shame it's not closer or we would definitely make it our regular drinking hole.Keep up the great work guys!

We popped in for a game of pitch and putt and some drinks. The pitch and putt is free and it's a really nice touch to keep the kids entertained. The garden is beautiful and well worth a visit for a summer drink. I was happy to see they were offering a special bank holiday menu with BBQ. We ordered chips and a burger. I was really disappointed with the offerings. The chips were £2 and you only got a small paper bowl full and the burger was £4 and was just a plain burger in a simple roll. No salad,no garnish no frills. I think it was overpriced for what it was and it's such a shame because it was a really good idea. I would return though as the garden is so lovely with loads of space for children to roam.
