The owner of the Queens Head is always really nice whenever I've met him. Staff are great and they do a good roast too. A nice place for a special occasion

The food was really tasty, and service was second to none by the waitresses Georgia and Emma. Would highly recommend this pub.

Excellent dinner, warm welcome with brilliant customer service which is getting rarer. The food choice was wide & for a Tuesday night the pub was busy which speaks volumes these days. Will be going back as it was so good.

First time here but went at the invitation of friends who have been there quite often. First impressions great as its a traditional pub with a very "Country local" feel about it, we had booked but there were enough tables free that we could pick where we sat and very quickly a waitress was with us to take drinks orders and deliver menu's. One of my friends wanted to swap the sweet potato fries to normal fries which he thought might require paying for an extra portion but the waitress was happy to do the swap The food when ordered came very quickly and everything was lovely, I had Portobello Mushroom to start which was lovely and Pork Belly for main which was was cooked to perfection. If I was to find anything to be negative about it was something that I think was a one off and that was that for a while a group of customers sat near us had a chap with a guitar which he started playing (sort of) that was annoying as it was making talking difficult. However it stopped quite soon (perhaps a staff member spoke to him) and they were no bother after that.

Absolutely excellent... Great service, lovely food, great selection of beers. We will definitely be back!

Food very poor, I had a Portobello mushroom which was very small and swimming in fat, where all the fat came from , I have no idea, some from the cheese, but not all. My friend had Ham Egg and chips, the ham had come from a packet, and was the reconstituted supermarket variety, the egg was burnt round the edges. Having said that the staff were very pleasant, pity about the food.

Very happy with service and good, but pub a bit cold, needs a good fire.

Popped in for a quick pint in the afternoon so didn't get to try the food. Car park was full with parents picking up kids from school nearby so would avoid that time next visit.

Amazing place. We went as a party of 14 and I honestly couldn’t recommend this pub highly enough. The food was superb, the staff were super friendly and welcoming. It was a lovely place to spend as a family having a superb meal.

We recently held an excellent charity lunch here. From start to finish, nothing was too much trouble with the staff being friendly and attentive and catering for special dietary requests. The food was delicious with generous sized portions. Thank you Fabian for helping us to arrange a very enjoyable occasion and we look forward to returning again soon.

The food is always good here. The guys are always friendly too. Maybe needs a bit of an update to the decor and furniture though. Would highly recommend

We have now visited this pub a couple of times for Sunday lunch. The food is very average, some parts good, other parts not so good. When busy the service virtually stops and the food runs out. If you book tables all afternoon, you should cater for this. As a village pub, it speaks for itself when you see very few, if any, villager's, perhaps providing bad service and then applying a service charge, doesn't help! A Roast Sunday lunch should at least have roast potatoes not undercooked new potatoes as the roast ones had run out, and should not run out of Yorkshire puddings so early. When you read other reviews it seems that they run on low stocks of food and drink, if they could sort this out, sort out the service when busy, allow customers to pay what they think is a fair service charge and even maybe offer cauliflower cheese, they could turn this round in being the best roast in the area.

Had a snack lunch here a couple of weeks ago. The tiger prawns were excellent as was the beer. Also both the lady who greeted us and the waitress were really friendly. Will definitely return when next in the area.

What could have been an enjoyable evening with friends and good food was spoilt by being very cold. The open fire smoked too much to be used and no alternative heating was available.

Went for Xmas lunch. Food was overall really good and with generous portions, although the roast potatoes were a bit too big for me. Service was excellent and everyone was very friendly. Nice selection of drinks as well.

Unfortunately tonight was a real let down. Ordered med/well done Fillet Steak, turned up poss. rear/med, sent it back, came back out on a smaller plate, with a charred, dried up piece of leather, around 10 chips & a few leaf's.... defo not £30 worth.... Lovely Lady did take some of bill, but when we got home noticed there was a service charge on bill too!!!!!.... Not a nice night out.... Only positive was the Lovely Lady who served us, think she was more embarrassed than anything. EDITED: Received a call from owner, offered a refund for steak & a drink which was much appreciated - Thank You.

Table for 7, we pre booked the Christmas menu and we’re very impressed. Table dressed and ready when we got there, booked for 7.30 and had the table the whole evening until we left after 11. Relaxed and comfortable, great service and excellent food, would recommend!

As a company (45 people) we had our first Xmas lunch at the The Queens Head and it was PERFECT, food and service was AMAZING. What a great pub and a great team. Lots of compliments from colleagues. Highly recommended, We will be back.

Undoubtedly the best pub in all of Hampshire! We booked the whole pub out for a private event and had the best experience. Fabian and his friendly team went out of their way to make sure our night was perfect. From their great selection of beers to the freshest food, Fabian spared no expense to make sure our guests were well extremely looked after. The warm and cozy pub is ideal for a cold winter night and the garden is gorgeous to sit in when the weather is good. Don't miss the Fish & Chips that rival the best restaurants in London, and the Steak & Ale pie and Mussels that our guests couldn't stop raving about.

Said we could bring dog but when we got there, outside only. Pity

Excellent ambience, friendly, welcoming and very helpful staff. The foregoing is a major plus as unfortunately, it goes downhill from there. We were a party of 10. Consequently, life being too short, I'm speaking for myself. The beers, from ale to lager, are Molson Coors, badged disaster brews. Sharps Brewers - 'Doom Bar' - was acquired in 2011 and the cask ale is now brewed in Burton. The brewing of 'Czech' Staropramen, on its acquisition by Coors in 2012, was ceded to Carlsberg. Ipso facto, it tastes nothing like the original, Prague brew. Classic beers now produced by arguably, the worst 2 brewers in existence. I chose the lesser of the evils and had a 'Doom Bar' - it was welcomingly well kept so took away some of my disappointment. The 'Carpese of Avocado' was fresh and a fair, basic dish, which augured well. The following main 'Local Belly of Pork', was a rank disappointment. Its crackling was passable but the flesh was dry. The whole was served on a base of mashed potato, which was OK but its accompanying glazed red cabbage, was grossly undercooked. Because of the latter failing, I ordered a mixed salad but that turned out to be a mistake. The unsliced but 'lumped' tomatoes, were inedibly unripe, no olive oil nor vinegar dressings were provided nor offered. I left it all unfinished, didn't dare a dessert and thanked my lucky stars that the double expresso was a welcome relief. My wife and I, shall not be returning.

Once again very impressed with our lunch here. The filling in the chicken pie was both delicious and (almost) too much. My friend had an equally beautiful liver and bacon meal. The waitresses were very attentive and friendly. Honestly have never had a bad meal here. Well done.

This is a lovely country pub that has remained largely unchanged for as long as I have been visiting it. Food is great, staff are friendly and it has a really nice atmosphere. Mind your head, as there are low beams!!

Well cooked i.e. not over or under cooked food. My scallops were perfect. Very large portions. Chef is able to adjust dishes to suit customer preferences. Good Gluten Free options. Several specials available. Friendly atmosphere. We will visit again.

Food very good, service was not great. We waited over 30 mins for food to arrive but only after we requested it. Were still drinking our coffee when we were abruptly told they needed our table and would we leave. We had been there 1 hour 30 mins. It was not our fault the service was so slow. Felt we were pushed out in a rush. Manager not at all sympathetic. Won’t be returning. Food was good but we left feeling very unwelcome.

We had a mixed experience, the food was fantastic, service friendly and atmosphere great. But unfortunately the table wasn't set for the number we booked for so we ended up crammed on a table that wasn't big enough for our party. Then food took an hour and 45 minutes to show up after we ordered. While I appreciate it was a busy evening and the waitress kept apologising it just left us with a lack luster experience.

Haven’t rated food as just popped in for a relaxing beer in the decent size garden. We’ll worth a visit 😊

Really excellent food and fantastic service. A delight

Very disappointed with choice of wines and food. I asked for two glasses of Merlot and they had only enough for one glass. When we studied the menu we were told that two of the main courses were not available. On choosing dessert we were told that two of those were also not available. The occasion was early evening in the middle of the week so there was no excuse to be so low on wine and food. So we will not be going there again.

I love this pub. The food here is excellent and the selection of drinks is great. I’m really keen on the Stuffed Aubergine and the Pork Belly. The kids love the Calamari. We’ve been lots of times for both family meals and couples meals. Staff are great. They will do all they can to make you happy.

Over the years I’ve been to the Queens Head many times, enjoyed many meals there but I don’t know what’s happened. It is an amazing pub, a place for first dates, family dinners and times to remember but the menu is now very basic and...

Been here a couple of times now and both times it’s been fantastic. Service is great from start to finish and the food is incredible. Whatever you have, make sure it includes chips as they are some of the best I’ve ever eaten. Biscoff cheesecake also is not to be missed. Can’t wait for the next visit already!

Great find. Lovely laid back atmosphere. Food was excellent. Service great without being intrusive. A gentle evening. I don't normally give five stars for everything so had to choose one for four stars. Just slightly lacking in atmosphere.

Excellent meal of slow-roasted pork belly. Difficult to fault, and reassuringly slow to be prepared and delivered. A lovely a generous portion, and highly recommended. Deserts were perhaps not quite as excellent as the main course, but no matter. Only possible gripe was the comfort of the seating, which really were not pleasant. But the food was excellent.

Six of us had dinner at The Queens Head, each choosing a different main course. which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The flavours of the food were exceptional. It is amazing how they maintain such a high standard.

Previous service good but waited 5 minutes at the bar with staff walking around the pub without any acknowledgement we were there waiting to be served, so walked out, won't be back

What an experience. I have never been to this place in my lifetime, and only happened across it due to a recommended shortcut, but I'm so glad I went to see. The food is excellent, the pictures are just us having 6 starters as we wanted a tappas style munch, but they were all fantastic. We are definitely going back as the menu is amazing and the choice is very good. Seriously, look them up, and you won't believe the size of the burgers nor the pie of the day. I was also treated very well by Ben, a member of staff who got us a table even though we were walk in customers and had a sense and knowledge of how the restaurant was going to be busy but wanted us to feel welcome . This is definitely a hidden gem in the Hampshire countryside. The gardens are extensive and full of sunshine, and the whole place was very warm and welcoming. 💯 recommended

Enjoyed a lovely evening with nice English country pub atmosphere and great food. This pub has seen some highs and lows over the years, but the current owners seem to have raised the standard to its highest level. Service was professional and attentive, Food was...

Food was good, but took a while to arrive. We enjoyed the breaded Brie, and halloumi on salad for starters, followed by a steak Diane and duck breast for mains. Staff were friendly, but often we were both left with empty glasses and in need of another round. The steak Diane dish seems a popular choice, though my rare steak was more medium-rare, but nevertheless I enjoyed it, plus the creamy mushroom sauce, chips, and salad that came with it. The most annoying part was how dark the pub was. We’d been sat in a dimly lit room at the end of the bar, and there just wasn’t enough lighting at all. It was also frustrating when I went to wash my hands that they were rationing soap out in minuscule amounts from an automated soap dispenser like it’s 2019. Overall however a very good meal in a pretty area, and good value (about £85 for two courses for the two of us, and various drinks).
