The Bel & Dragon is a great little spot if you’re looking for a laid-back yet stylish place to grab a drink. The vibe is relaxed, with a mix of cozy, rustic charm and modern touches that make it feel both welcoming and a bit special. The staff are friendly and know their stuff, so if you’re not sure what to order, they’ll happily point you in the right direction.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Bel & Dragon in Odiham. The room was characterful but comfortable, and included complimentary extras such as sloe gin and chocolates which were a nice touch. The food at dinner and breakfast was delicious, while the staff were attentive and friendly. We hope to come back!

A fantastic location for our evening meal as we hosted some friends over from Australia! The food was of a superb standard with the menu offering a great variety of dishes with an extensive wine list to accompany. The service was attentive and professional, yet fun and charismatic. A special thanks goes to Tom for making our guests visit extra special with his thoughtfulness on the night. I would highly recommend visiting the Bel & the Dragon or revisiting again due to its change in stewardship.

Absolutely perfect night's stay, extremely attentive, welcoming and friendly staff on arrival. The room was really comfortable and had little extras which were lovely. I had dinner in the restaurant and the food was, again, extremely nice- would recommend this alone. The waitresses at dinner were very helpful and attentive, Jo and Will were fab. Breakfast, there were lots of options and plenty of it. Would recommend to anyone to stay here or any others that they have- such a great experience.

We booked in here for Sunday lunch and were very excited, but unfortuantely left very disappointed. Things started well with good service and good starters, but then it all went downhill. After having our starters taken, we waited around 40 minutes for our mains which was strange as there was only a handful of tables eating. We had empty drinks glasses for around 30 minutes of this time and had to getup and get a server to request new drinks. Main course came and it was a huge let down. The beef was okay, but the lamb was one of the greyest bits of meat i've seen, even stranger as we were informed it came very pink. I don't think the cauliflower cheese had an ounce of cheese in it and everything else was just average. We were sat in the garden which looks lovely, but our location at the back probably contributed to us being ignored by staff and even got the added bonus of watching the chefs sit at their table and smoke. Probably just caught them at a bad time/bad day, but won't be returning. Go next door instead, we've had much better food and service there

Had a great stay at the Bel and Dragon. We stayed in the family room which was great for us. The bunk beds are in a separate area of the bedroom so once the children were asleep we were still able to have lights on and watch TV in the part of the room without waking them. The staff were fantastic with a special shout out to Anya who greeted us every morning for breakfast and was really attentive and made us feel welcome. Our little one has a milk allergy and they were able to cater well for him and offer alternative milk etc easily which made our stay so much easier. We will definitely be back when we are in the area.

I have used the Bell & The Dragon for many years, and I have always enjoyed the various venues but Sunday myself and my guests were very disappointed with the service and the quality of the food. The presentation was not how I expected my lunch to be served, a pile of food on a plate with no serving dishes with vegetables etc. Also the food was barely warm and three jugs of gravy were placed on the table with no explanation of which gravy was for what meats. It was not a pleasurable experience at all, and expensive for what it was. Regards Nick Harrison

Having had Sunday lunch here on two previous occasions, I wanted to go here for my birthday lunch. We seemed to be overlooked as I had to keep trying to get someone to serve us, Dinner came out before we got our drinks and waited for them to bring the dessert menu that took about 15 minutes after he said would we like to look at the menu. Dinner was nice but not as nice as it had been on previous occasions. It wasn’t very busy so not sure why the service was so slow. I probably wouldn’t go back again.

Bell & The Dragon was a delightful find, and one which I hope to revisit. The dark panelled bar and snug are wonderfully atmospheric, whilst the bright and clean restaurant behind allows focus on the food. Quirky bedrooms full of vintage furniture and secondhand books are something a bit different, the provision of luxury teas, coffee and complimentary gin are a lovely touch. My only gripe was that the saggy old armchair was too low for me to work at the desk...so I had to work in the bar and drink beer! Apologies to anyone I disturbed whilst on Teams calls! The food is very good without being outstanding, though special mention must be made of the full English breakfast which is really good. Odiham is a fascinating location to explore, too.

We recently came as a group of 8 adults and 2 young children to celebrate a birthday and the afternoon was just amazing! We had the sharing roast dinner platter and added on some sides and we actually had waaay too much food! The meats were perfectly cooked and the vegetables were so tasty! I would recommend the platters for anyone nearby wanting to go out in a group for a roast dinner! We all agreed was the best dinner we had had out in a LONG time, one said it was the best roast dinner they had ever had out and the other said was the best beef they had ever had. Which I think says alot. They were very accommodating and for one of the youngest children they done her a little plate of mash and mushy peas so she could eat with us! We didn’t feel at all like they didn’t want the children there, which sometimes when dining out can be a worry. We will definitely be back and we already can’t wait! Thank you

Better known to some of us as The George (and what is wrong with that?) Bel & the Dragon has a bustling and well run dining room and offers very good food and (as always, at a price) a superior wine list of absorbing interest. Dishes are presented with pleasing care, none better than the Succulent Pork, clearly cooked for many slow hours if not days and surrounded by all sorts of vegetables and sauce. Locals pile in and the bar always seems in a roar. In rooms dating from 1540 you would expect vertiginous stairs, creaks, draughts, offstage noises shared among fellow guests and some trendy well distressed furnishings and you will not be disappointed, but you will also enjoy fine fine bed linen and top hole housekeeping standards. And little Odiham is a delight.

This place has gone downhill at a rate of knots since the change of management. The furniture in the bar area is not only tatty but filthy, shabby chic is acceptable but not shabby junk, it’s not helped by customers allowing their dogs to clamber all over it. The staff are under trained and not au fait with the concept of customer service. My family and I used The B and D on a regular basis and enjoyed it but now it’s just a place for a quick drink if it suits but not to eat. A great shame as with decent management and some money spent on improvements and staff training it could once again be a good destination.

2pm sitting for Christmas Lunch 25 Dec 2023 – Bel and the Dragon, Odiham. Hook. Upon arrival I saw the manager who I met a few days before leaving the premises and not return. Maybe at this point I should have realised things were not quite right. Signed in and got ourselves some drinks and was asked to wait and to be called. Whilst waiting, and got chatting to other customers, they had been waiting for over an hour. None of the staff had a clue when we would be sitting. I could see many customers complaining and staff crying, which isn’t a good look. We persevered and thought these things happen. Still waiting for two hours, after continuing to find out and to manage to speak to a staff member, he said, “I honestly do not know when you will be seated” Someone else from the team spoke to me and said he would be back in 30 seconds. 20 minutes later we were seated and then just abandoned for at least 30 minutes. My wife went to the bar to order drinks, only to be told that someone would come to our table. This never happened. I looked around and saw many customers disillusioned and spotted a couple and child who were waiting with us in the snug and bar who were seated before us still without food apart from their child who was provided with the wrong dish. I was at this point contemplating leaving. This is Christmas Day – Christmas lunch, which was becoming dinner. I turned around spoke to the family I had met earlier, and they said they are leaving as the starter they had was poor and service rubbish. At that point I managed to speak to a member of staff and said we are leaving and demanded my money back, to which they obliged. My wife was spoken to by a staff member whilst I was arranging my refund and he told her that the food would be free. We still left knowing full well, that we would be waiting for hours. We have been to the Bel & Dragon in Odiham and Churt many times before, for Christmas lunch and for general dinners, but will never again step foot inside this establishment. It was Christmas day and me and my family were looking forward to a great experience only to be subjected to many hours waiting, staff not knowing what was going on. Total disarray and staff crying. No management on hand for the staff and customers and understaffed in all departments. This experience was a hugely disappointing and the management team at the Bel & the Dragon should be ashamed for letting me and my family down as well as many others. I cooked when we got home. Tom

We come here about every 6 months as a convenient meeting point for a group of widely spread friends. Another Christmas gathering and we were all happy with our lunches. Tasty duck shepherd pie and a vegetarian risotto in particular. Did have to ask for breads to nibble to start with though. Celeriac soup was enjoyable and warming. All reasonable size portions though in need of vegetable sides. House white we tried this time was eminently drinkable and reasonably priced. Two courses, a couple of wines and water and soft drink added up to £75 per couple including tip. Christmas decorations were lovely and as ever the historic entrance and anti rooms are charming. We did have to park in the overflow area at the rear on the grass which was exceptionally muddy so not too happy with that. All in all will happily recommend this restaurant - upmarket informal with decent portions and nicely prepared dishes. It is airy and spacious enough not to be too noisy when busy. Service was polite.

We had a very pleasant family meal in the private dining room before Xmas 2018 but this visit for Sunday lunch was disappointing. We weren't able to change our table - stuck in a corner - for another even though we were the first people to arrive. The waitress didn't know which beers they served and then having been to find out gave an incomplete list. She did, however, kindly provide crayons and drawing paper for our children which was appreciated. The food looked good on arrival but was largely tasteless especially the roast potatoes and the dry Yorkshire pudding. The meat was chewy and appeared to have been cooked quickly (or pre cooked and re-heated ? ) and so disappointing.Service went completely missing towards the end of the meal and when we managed to ask for the bill a beer was incorrectly included - this was removed on our pointing this out. It's a shame as it's a nice location and seems to have ambitions beyond basic pub food but we won't be going back in a hurry.

What I really like here is the place itself, next to the canal, in a beautiful building which also has accomodation. The service is good, friendly staff but the menu doesn't offer too many choises. I get that, because they are probably using fresh ingredients and the dishes are their speciality. I went there on a sunday with some friends and we ordered a dish to share for 4-6 people which had different meat and vegetables. It was ok, even though i would have cooked the chicken a bit more and the dessert was an apple pie which was too sweet for me.Overall experience was good, i will probably come back but not that much for the food itself but for the atmosphere.

We visited previously for Sunday roast and thought it was great. Returned again last Sunday and will probably not go back now due to the shocking service! No smiles from the young girl who took our order. She brought the chipolatas out 10 mins before the bread we ordered. We then waited around an hour for our sharing pork roast dinner. Pork and veg was tasty, potatoes didn't taste like they were freshly roasted. Just as the meal arrived some of us ordered red wine to have with the meal and this arrived at our table once we had almost finished our meals. We asked for extra roast potatoes and these never turned up. There were lots of waiters and waitresses however the service was slow and they never walked near our table. Finally the coffee two of our group ordered after dinner was luke warm.To top if off we were given someone else's bill and told that it was £5 cheaper than ours so we felt like we had to pay it without seeing what our bill would've been. At no point did anyone ask how our meal was and as we left no one said thank you or goodbye. All together poor service and won't be returning again soon - shame because we loved our previous visit!

We visited the Bel & The Dragon for Sunday lunch today. On arrival, we were a little early, the staff told us they would come and find us when our table was ready and so we sat ourselves in the bar area and got some drinks. Some time passed and we realised the staff were probably not going to come and get us. My Husband enquired and the staff confirmed that our table was ready. We took our own drinks through and sat down. After ten minutes or so, we had not been offered Menus or drinks. With three hungry children to feed we took the initiative and took our own menus. A further ten minutes passed with no flicker of interest from the waiting staff who preferred to stand about gossiping than attend to us. We called over a waitress and said we were ready to order, only for her to disappear and be found talking in exactly the same point as before. After expressing our dissatisfaction in slightly stronger terms, our orders were eventually taken. The food took a long time to arrive and when it did eventually appear, items were missing. When my Husband raised the poor service and food with the manager, she became quite defensive and stated that all of the waiting staff were new. The complete lack of client care and motivation within the entire waiting team, including the manager was quite shocking and ruined what should have been a relaxing Sunday lunch. This is certainly not a place we will visit again.

They stand around chatting instead of pouring wine or seeing if you want anything. Last time I went with 9 friends for lunch. The restaurant was really quiet but it took them 45 mins to take our order. They put us in the private dining room and then left us there and forgot about us. I had to find them for the bill and they were just chatting. To add insult to injury they add 12 1/2 % service charge. Will try The Mill on our next occasion. Such a pity!

An excellent meal last evening with friends. Delicious food (duck and then tarte tatin shared) and a very nice glass of house red as well.

I know and have come to be a regular user of Bel and the Dragon in Windsor for my tour guests.I was recently in the lovely place that is Odium in Hampshire on a Jane Austen themed tour. Thanks to some excellent arrangements by a top draw agent who knew the tastes of a client with very high standards, I found myself taking them to Bel and the Dragon in Odium for lunch. It is a super venue and the weather good enough for us to sit in their pretty garden. The clients went for their ‘posh’ fish and chips and I joined them.It was superb as was the service, ambiance and whole experience.

Came with three friends on Tuesday night, the manager seemed friendly and sat us quickly. We then ordered, starters took ages to come out! Only ordered squid and a hummus. We then recieved our mains when our starter plates were still on the table. And then no one around to bring bill, had to get up and find someone whos responce was 'er yeh'. Poor for the money you pay.

We had a great stay here over two nights last weekend. The room lady was a great help and changed over our z bed mattress for a deeper one very obligingly. Manager greeted us well even if it was late with the cabaret evening in full swing. Breakfast superb. Thanks also to the staff for returning our daughters cuddly toy that we left gratis. Many thanks. If we are ever in hampshire again ( which am sure we will as the area looks stunning) we will book in again.

We booked a table for sunday lunch on recommendation and were not disappointed. Fantastic venue, lovely helpful staff in particular duty manager Tom who was especially helpful. The food was incredible, and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Great value for money and worth every penny. Will definitely return.

Had my first meal and overnight stay at Bel & The Dragon in Odiham recently and everything was just perfect. Even the weather was sunny and warm - as were the staff. We were quite a large group for Sunday lunch, so were able to have a bit of everything, shared amongst us and the food was utterly delicious. A young, lively, friendly crew were very attentive and made us feel genuinely welcome, which contributed to our enjoyment of the weekend. Nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly enjoyed every meal. Delicious! Definitely an experience to be repeated and recommended.

We chose to have a meal due to a previous good experience which we thought would be replicated unfortunately this wasn't the case on Friday evening. Once we had been shown to our table we were informed that there would be long delays receiving our food; not great to start the evening on a negative. It took 45 minutes to place our order and again it was mentioned that there would be a delay and perhaps we would like to order something whilst we were waiting. As we had only intended to order a main course and desert it would have been better managed to have offered us some complimentary bread/olives which would have gone some way to make up for the situation. We were not on our own complaining; a senior member of staff in the meantime approached our table and could see we were irritated with the situation and mentioned "We don't serve boil in the bag here" i.e its acceptable for the customer to have to wait without a proper explanation. On a more positive note the food was delicious just let down by poor staffing and not managing people's expectations. We feel very disappointed as it certainly ruined what should have been a relaxing, enjoyable occasion and unfortunately unlikely to return.

We went there for our anniversary celebration and the staff were fabulous and gave us a free glass of bubbly and a lovely chocolate brownie board with delicious sauce and hundreds and thousands on. Food is simple mouth watering. It’s not cheap but we knew that anyway. Back next year as we both love it.

Great evening with a large group of mixed ages. Staff were efficient and helpful, they did not hesitate when we requested to move table. Food and Wine were all served in good time. There were a good range of dishes on offer, I always go for the fish of the day so would be good to see something slightly different to a panfried fillet but it was delicious. All in all a good evening

The service was terrible. We arrived at 8.15pm and they took our drinks order very quickly, it then got to 8.55pm and I had to walk over to them to ask that they took our food order, by which time I had finished the drink I'd ordered, as I was driving I then had to settle for water with my food. I was not the only one, there were several people who left their seats to get the staff's attention throughout the evening. The waiting staff were working really hard but it was clear they were short staffed. The result was they gave us 20% off our bill and waived the service, a nice gesture but we'd have preferred to pay the full amount, leave a tip and have a better experience. The food was excellent so the kitchen staff were clearly on top form but I felt sorry for the waiting staff who worked hard all night but probably received very few tips.

Our venison and game stew was simply delicious. Unfortunately, where my portion had a good amount of meat in it, my friend’s portion had her searching for the meat. Perhaps more attention should be paid to this when plating up.

Arrived early for 6pm table and entered bar area which was somewhat dissappointing, very shabby and dirty, considered going next door to eat but had a quick look in restaurant and decided against it and so pleased we didnt. Food was fantastic and the service outstanding, particularly from Grace, who overheard me from another table saying that as the sticky toffee pudding wasnt on the menu I wouldnt have a pudding. She came over to me and said she would ask the chef to do me one specially, now that is what I call fantastic service. Overall a lovely evening with friends with fabulous food . Maybe worth looking at the bar area and giving it a bit of a dust and clean. Thank you

I regularly drink and eat at Bell and the Dragon, but New Year’s Eve, like a number of other meals was nice atmosphere but very disappointing at the same time. They now charge £8 to £12+ for a glass of wine, and the quality of this has poor on two occasions. The bar is nice and friendly, but We recently asked for 2 glasses of Sauvignon and the lady in charge of the bar was surly and combative when I suggested that 2 glasses of wine for £24 was poor value - and at that price they really should announce the price rather than just pour it and charge you . The new years eve dinner was imaginative but not well executed, with very slow serving times. The initial bottle of Chilean Sauvignon (£31) was very poor and I returned it. I had monkfish which was served without any vegetables and I was told there weren’t any vegetables that could be bought additionally. For £60 a head meal I thought this was bottom-quartile performance. Compare it with my recent experience in the Italian restaurant or the Red Lion in Odiham, or The Mill in North Warnborough (all superb meals, better value), and I have to say the Bel and the Dragon has disappointed each time I have eaten there. I’d like to see Bel and the Dragon at top quartile, but it needs a top-down change of approach to get there.

Great lunch - main meals were really good but the desserts let it down - too sickly sweet and had to send back as not panna cotta - more like lemon curd!! They were extremely gracious and took off the bill. Good service and we go there a lot so will be back.

Just had the Sunday roast carvery. It's under new ownership, only opened this week and it was amazing. With a choice of 4 meats and wide variety veg, lots of different accompaniments you really feel spoilt The roast potatoes are crispy and Yorkshire puddings are perfect. The staff are friendly and attentive and the pub had a lovely atmosphere, very cosy🤩 They are a tapas bar on Monday -Saturday, carvery on a Sunday. We can't wait to come back to try the tapas!

A quintessential English pub. The menu is very varied, nice wines and varied choice. There is decent parking and a nice pub garden. It's dog friendly and there is a local 2.8 mile loop walk you can do from the car park.

Good seasonal menu choice, loved the game casserole. Treacle tart reminded me of my Granny's. Cosy fire and friendly service. We had a nice New Zealand white, draught Aspalls and alcohol free Guinness.
