The first thing to say is that the service was really slow. However, we were pre warned immediately we sat down that a key staff member hadn’t turned up and consequently we overlooked it completely. The people who did serve us were really lovely, and continuously apologised for ant delays. The food was incredibly good. Not cheap, but the quality and portion sizes justified the prices. Each tapas dish was expertly prepared and delicious. The albondigas was not quite as hot as everything else, but that wasn’t a problem. I had a perfect crème brûlée for dessert. Highly recommended.

Another great meal with excellent food. The only downside is that again, after very visit, our bill is wrong. They either undercharge or overcharge so I’m just a bit worried if they don’t sort it, they might not make it financially as they must be losing out. Hopefully they get things sorted soon so they can stay for the long term.

Visited as promised a lot - staff were shouting in the kitchen about whether a fish was a fillet or not - nice seating at the front door, but to the left there was a dark and dingy area with an old ' school dinner type service area' and loads of stacked furniture, one table was set for 6-8 and saw they asked to be moved from that area and the other family looked miserable - in fact, they didn't eat there in the end - saw them leave after the staff apologised and asked for a food order more than 30 mins after they arrived we won't be back

From start to finish of our evening we had a lovely experience. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful couldn’t have done more for you. The food was a Tapas style and extremely tasty and lots of variety and the portions were very generous, Very cosy environment, me & the family give it 10/10.

Food was really good but service needs improving. We waited a while to get our menus to the point of having to ask for them. Within minutes of being handed them, the waitress came back to take our order, not giving us time to have a look. What was off putting were the waitress’ long acrylic nails. It’s doesn’t look professional and it is unhygienic. I appreciate she’s not handling the food directly however she is touching the dishes that we are eating from. We then had to wait ages for the bill and yet again, had to go up to the bar to request it. It wasn’t a busy night either. I cannot fault the food though, it was good.

Just sitting here had the best roast dinner at the golden pot carvery , best meal I've had in eversley lots nice cooked vegetables on offer and 4 or 5 meat s avaliable ! Great value for money and nice atmosphere and very busy so book !

Food was tasty, and served in good portion sizes. Parking is a little difficult as it seems restricted to the front of the pub only, and the initial service was a little hit and miss but we will definitely be returning, as the food was worth it.

Unfortunately had booked, but when arriving there were members of staff outside smoking. Really not a good look. Shame as menu looks nice but put us right off.

Lovely venue, kind and polite staff and very accommodating. Only popped in for a quick drink and ended up having a tapas dinner. Food is delicious and would highly recommend

A hidden little gem if I could give more than 5 stars I would. The pub was very cosy and welcoming . The Food was incredible There were 30 choices so we couldn't try everything but the dishes we chose were amazing. The waiter was lovely and very friendly and funny. Will definitely be going back when I'm in the area. It's unusual to find a pub that has tapas. The only negative was that the carpark was too small not enough spaces.

We came here on a Friday night for tapas and what a pleasant surprise. Fantastic food, great value and even better service. We definitely will return!

Highly Recommended, lots of choice on the menu, something for everyone and it all tasted great! Highly recommend the Stake Skewers. The staff were friendly, attentive and did not rush us, so you can take your time and enjoy a few tapas dishes with some well kept beers! If you have not tried it since the re-opening it's worth a visit.

"The Pot is Back!" This used to be our local and we've been going there for the last 14 years. It was always a place that served good food and drink and was somewhere you'd almost certainly bump into friends from the village if you popped in spontaneously. Over the last 4 or 5 years that had dropped off but with Glen and his team - on the evidence of our 3 visits this week - it has returned to it's former glory and looks set to thrive again. There's a very nice selection of tapas during the week and we had an excellent carvery yesterday. My wife and I can't remember the last time we had a roast that good! Thanks Glen.

With a choice of 4 meats and wide variety veg, lots of different accompaniments you really feel spoilt The roast potatoes are crispy and Yorkshire puddings are perfect. The staff are friendly and attentive and the pub had a lovely atmosphere, very cosy🤩 They are a tapas bar on Monday -Saturday, carvery on a Sunday. We can't wait to come back to try the tapas!

Came to eat on a Monday evening and had a great meal - they had to full menu even on a Monday, the fish was cooked fresh, and even though it was very quiet in the pub the music level was just right to easily hear each other yet not hear every other noise in the pub (avoiding that awkward tumbleweed atmosphere!). Great food, good service, lovely atmosphere ☺️

Super seafood menu and good too

A group of 6 of us had a really good lunch. The service was good, the staff friendly and welcoming and the food of good quality and nicely served. A good experience.

Absolutley amazing food. 2 of us couldnt finish it. 40 quid for food that left us stuffed, a large glass of wine and a pint is a bargain in my book. Nice friendly staff too

We went for a local hike, we couldn’t find a parking spot but the owners of the pub said we could park there. We were longer than we expected and decided to get food but sadly arrived back at the pub just after the kitchen closed. We ordered a few drinks and settled in feeling at home in the calm setting. One of the owners came out and apologised for the kitchen being closed and gave us roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings with gravy on the house- it tasted amazing and certainly filled our hunger hole. We will be back ❤️. Such an amazing community feel. (And I met Tilly the dog which made my day)

The place looks a little run down from the outside but once inside you are met with friendly staff, a welcoming atmosphere, and a comprehensive menu. We had the fish and chips and the smoked haddock fish cakes and skinny fries both of which were delicious.

So sad to see a for sale sign up, hope this stays as a pub, one of my favourite locals!

Brilliant staff food and drink

This is pub food of the highest quality with the addition of some specialised fresh fish dishes. Vicky and Steve produce a warm friendly atmosphere. The Landlord and Doom bar real ales are kept in excellent condition.

Plenty of variety and very good food. Staff friendly and good service. Check opening times before visiting. Highly recommended.

Walked in on a Wednesday, very quite only one other person eating. Got a table and ordered my food at the bar. I had the whole sea bass (from the specials board) and it was okay. Lady behind the bar was pleasant and service was good. Meal (whole sea bass, chips and peas) together with 1 pint of cider was just under £23.

Updated September 2023. Good active community with good natured banter. Well worth popping in for a drink a chat or a bite to eat Such a special place. Nice food, nice people, good beer. Fish a speciality.

Fish and chips in pub is always a lottery, this time I became a millionaire, it was superb. Cooked to perfection, the fish (haddock) was fresh very tasty and it flaked like for fish should, the triple cooked chips were a great match. Add to this Guinness zero for the most delightful meal. The pub had an "ambience" the landlord was extremely friendly and welcoming, the locals were nice too. I will be back!

Sunday roast. The pub was nearly empty . Good size portions with plenty of meat. Not the best I've had but perfectly acceptable, especially after a long walk.

Dog friendly, does gluten free, good taste in music, great Pims., wonderful ground coffee in a cafetiere.

I spent the afternoon at my niece's baby shower, absolutely wonderful staff, food was absolutely delicious 😋, definitely will be coming back even though I live in Newbury. Many thanks to the wonderful staff who were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.

Probably the best value food I've had in the area. 3 of us ate for Father's Day, managed to get in with relatively short notice. Lamb roast was excellent. Steve, Jackie and staff very friendly and welcoming. Many thanks!

We had booked for lunch and when we turned up were a little nervous as we seemed to be the only diners! OK it was quiet but to our pleasure and surprise this did not make any difference to the food which was excellent. We had the fish on specials which was clearly the right decision. The staff were friendly and helpful which all added to a good experience. We will return.

I booked the Golden Pot for the wake following my mother's funeral. I had already looked at several other venues in the area and dismissed them all for various reasons, cost, location or lack of flexibility. I left the area 23 years ago so having to do everything long distance made it very stressful. Steve was an absolute godsend. He was happy to do everything I wanted and on the day everyone was impressed by the quality of the food, the variety and the freshness. Steve and Jackie made everyone welcome and the whole thing could not have gone better.

Great local pub and restraunt, menu has a good selection of fish, and quick eats. Great atmosphere and the pub is dog friendly. We realy enjoyed the meal after a long day of driving, and before the final 4 hour drive back to Lincolnshire.

Excellent - whole sea bass, cooked with thyme and tomatoes. Served with new potatoes and veg. Large portion. Would return. Service prompt and polite.

Very homely pub with friendly staff and a gorgeous pub dog wondering around looking for attention. However my friend and I ordered burgers which were very disappointing - bland and tasteless. There are many high quality burgers that can be purchased from catering companies (or the chef could make his own), but these looked like Lidl budget burgers. Chips were very average too. So for a meal that is very hard to get wrong and any amateur chef can cook, this was a disappointing meal

Just had a fabulous Sunday roast (chicken). Piping hot, all cooked to perfection! I ordered later in the day and so I thought it might be a bit of a "tired" meal from being sat around, but no. Lovely yummy freshly cooked roast Inc roast potatoes, parsnips, yorkshire pud, carrots and peas. My dessert was x2 (generous) scoops of ice cream: salted caramel & strawberry. Perfect meal. What a lovely pub. Good beer, great range of fish based meals (plus meat too if you prefer) and table service as well. All good. Came back in August 2022 for an evening meal with a big group of 20 friends. And still the food was great. Lovely village pub. Still all good 😎 👍 👍 👍

Beautiful traditional privately owned coach House serving up honest food well maintained beers and welcoming atmosphere. Landlord & landlady make you feel right at home tending to your every need. Personable service, could not recommended enough for the true English pub connoisseur.

Visited yesterday for the first time with a friend albeit used to have fish and chips often in lockdown. The sword fish and mussels were fantastic and the atmosphere and staff just great.

Lovely place on the River but very expensive so, only had light bites and one starter, still cost over £30pounds.

Great traditional pub, clean and fresh and well laid out. The beers and wine were very good and the food and service was excellent. The landlord and all the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and seem to love what they are doing. Everybody in the pub loves dogs so our Ralph was welcomed which was the best bit. Great pub.

I booked a table for 5, we arrived, no table was set for us, they sat us at a very large table that easily sat 8 and the chairs were too low for myself let alone my elderly parents, I asked to be moved and upon looking discovered that large table in fact was a covered pool table! We sat for over an hour before our food arrived, service from the very young bar staff had no pleasantries and could do with being taught customer service skills.. the food was nice although my Monk fish was a tiny portion and my mum's haddock was huge in comparison and although I know monkfish is expensive it looked ridiculous. .. the upside is everyone enjoyed the food and was served on hot plates! There's much to be desired in the decor, it has no ambience, looked very dated and tired, I haven't been to eat at the pub in about 8-10 years and reckon I'll not bother returning!

Honestly the best pub I’ve visited! Food is awesome, atmospherics are perfect and the staff feel like family! Absolutely in love with this bastion of warmth and friendliness The Landlord, Steve, is a true gentleman and I strongly urge you all to support this fantastic pub!!

We had heard and read lots of good reviews about this place but have to say we were very disappointed on our visit with the food it was very average nothing special. We shall not be going back.

It was lovely to be welcomed by a landlord who clearly goes out of his way to make sure everything is right for his customers.. we had table booked for 11 and all the food was smashing, he even noticed my Grandson sucking on a slice of lemon.. rather than squeezing it on his fish fingers, so brought him a whole dish of them out! The meal was great value for money, there was a good selection and the meals were of large proportions.. highly recommended.. :)

Came here as Frog & Wicket not serving food. Staff were lovely and accommodating. Chose the meat platters to share between 5 and there was plenty of food, boiling hot with hot plates at a reasonable price. Will be back!

Sunday lunch, a pudding and a soft drink each for 4 adults and 2 children was £150! A bit expensive for what you get to be honest.

So me and my girlfriend visited the golden pot last night for dinner.let’s say we won’t be returning the service was dreadful and the food was worse. The starters were cooked from frozen and the “ribs” were the processed boneless kind. The mains ,even worse the mussels were also frozen which was disappointing as I’ve been told it’s great for seafood but my experience has told me otherwise. I won’t be returning as this is the worse experience I’ve had in such a longtime. So bad that it has made me right my very first review.

Service was excellent. The food was about as basic as it gets these days: anaemic fries, indifferent fishcakes and only halfway decent beer and wine. Will not be going back anytime soon.

Fabulous lunch today, 4 of us stopped off here on the off chance of some lunch today about 2-15. They got the kitchen to stay open for us ( they stop food at 2pm) and we all have the most lovely lunch. We all had something different and it was all cooked to perfection. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back again and will definitely recommend The Golden Pot to all my friends.

Loving the new management. So pleased they have retained their daily fresh fish dishes. Friendly service. Less busy than they deserve to be, but hopefully word of mouth will share the delights of this hidden gem.

Dined outside during lockdown with the extended family so quite a large booking. Proper local pub. Quite a few locals wafting around. Food was distinctly average, regular pub fayre, frozen unhealthy options, burgers, fried fish etc. Service rushed, and haphazard. Can only put it down...
