The Raven in Hart

After booking 3 rooms for 2 nights and requesting low floor rooms as 2 of us have mobility issues one of us with issues had to climb 4 lots of stairs to get to it as they don't have single rooms on the lower floor. Not recommend for people with mobility issues not at all disabled friendly

Terrible smell in the rooms, had to buy scented candles as it was so bad. Beds so uncomfortable and the walls were grubby. Don't think we will be coming back. Needs updating badly!

Great little hotel with fab links via rail. Extremely comfortable beds with spacious clean rooms and a good size bathroom. Plenty of clothes storage and power points in the rooms. Only negative I can note is the toaster which takes an absolute age to even slightly colour the bread. When I mentioned to reception that the toaster was not very good, she said “I know, it’s been like that for ages”. Yes we as guests know that as it wasn’t up to much in February this year either. 8 months to retain a sub standard toaster is beyond belief. Please if you read this review get a new toaster.

I stayed here for a week whilst on a work trip and overall was not pleased. Staff: Although they seem lovely the reception was never manned. There is miscommunication across the team as I utilised the fridge in the bar, but the next day they had thrown it out. The cleaner was not respectful of my stuff as my eye mask was thrown off the bed onto my trainers, not hygienic or considerate ar all. Room: There is no phone to call reception and no food service available. Although there is an out of hours number you can call if there's issues in the night The pipes initially did not run water which made me think they haven't been used for a while, and potentially could have a legonairs risk. The iron was rusty and deposited particulates. Some of the windows don't close and some radiators don't work, so a little chilly. There's no mini fridge, hence my using the bar fridge which I would not do again. Accessibility: The hotel is not accessible as there are tons of stairs and winding corridors on the way to the room I was in Food: There is no to go option for breakfast, so if you have to leave before 7am each day, as I did, then the breakfast included isn't worth it. As mentioned before they threw out my food in the bar fridge, so I would not recommend having your own. Overall: It's a shame as it looks beautiful from the outside, but overall I would say it's a run down hotel with limited flexibility in terms of food, and well intentioned but incompetent staff.

Went to try the new menu, had the chicken ham pie which was lovely and partner had the mixed grill, no room for puddings this time unfortunately but we’ll be back to try sticky toffee pudding soon

We had a nice 3 days stay in the Raven hotel, and we had breakfast and dinner in the pub. The menu is great, especially the breakfast. English breakfast, poached eggs with salmon, avocado or ham with sauce hollandaise, all excellent. For dinner we had burgers and curry, all good!

Excellent inn strategically located for reaching Stonehenge and the Cotswolds. London Waterloo is also really easy by train, the inn car park has direct access to the station! Amazing cuisine, delicious leg, soups of the day, breakfast, vast selection of beers. Authentic setting and warm and welcoming atmosphere, highly recommended. I would ask the staff to make an effort for tourists who do not speak fluent English and understand very little native English :D

Attended BNI Junction 5 Diamond meeting

Stayed here for a wedding nearby. Super convenient location for the train station and taxis. Room was very clean, comfortable and good for the price. But the highlight for us was the staff - we arrived having been caught in a storm and soaked, and even though we were too early to check in they helped us hang our soaked things to dry and then transferred them to the room when it was available (after we’d had to leave for the event). Absolutely wonderful, kind service and very much appreciated. Would stay again.

The bed was very comfortable . That's the important thing . The breakfast was a shambles and was full of confused neglected hotel guests. If you want a good breakfast go to the iron bull down the road it's very good . Was informed the morning after when I enquired that I would probably receive a parking fine because my vehicle registration wasn't entered when I checked in . The bar staff are friendly and good as are the reception staff at the hotel .

Open plan great place to meet and chat, most important for a pub good beer selection.

On arrival I was disappointed to find that the restaurant area was closed and laid for breakfast at 6pm so we had to eat in the bar area which was noisy and not as comfortable. One of the young barmaids tried to be helpful but the other one was not welcoming. This was not a good experience - I usually come at lunchtime when the staff and service is very good. If this had been my first visit I wouldn't come again.

This pub/restaurant was the dirtiest most unhygienic place I've ever had the misfortune of visiting. The floor was filthy including bits of broken glass. The food wasn't cooked and was totally inedible. After complaining to the manager he promptly left the premises and let his young waitress to deal with our complaints. She was brilliant and deserves to work in a much better place. The beer was good (we only stayed for one) but the glass was filthy. I have invited Environmental Health to visit this establishment and hopefully they will close it down. Avoid this place at all costs!

Great location as in city centre not far from motorway with parking facilities, room dated and dusty, food was good but staff very slow in replenishing breakfast food/drinks, had to ask for more coffee, milk, orange juice, pastries and brown toast but was told there was none left. Also staff won't clear breakfast dishes until end of breakfast so not much room on table going through cereals, cooked breakfast and pastries. Our leather headboard in bedroom was badly worn and had to buy wipes as top of units and wardrobe thick with dust. Consider it a bit dear for state of the place.

Stoped a week here for work. Staff are never available at reception desk took them over 20 minutes to check me in and at least that to check out. Rooms were average but for the price you pay you can’t complain. Location is shocking bins being collected at 4:30 on Mondays and Fridays right outside rooms. When staff do attend the desk on an evening are drinking alcohol and extremely slow. Will not be stopping here again.

Right by train station which is great, friendly staff. Bought a kids meal, very good value, presented very nice and was very tasty. Dog friendly too which is always a bonus

Stayed here for work for one night very clean and tidy mattress very comfortable and shower great.. Staff very helpful and friendly food good very reasonable priced.. Great value for money 👍👍👍

A great night out at The Raven for our meet up group and good tribute. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and thanks to James and hard working bar staff for the service that has improved recently.

this was the 3rd visit to the hotel , however this time we have no cold water in the room (the cold tap runs warm enough to have a wash in) the bedside light didnt work and the toilet was dirty. We ordered lunch in the pub which cam out with extra garlic bread and extra chips (not ordered) when we told them they took the garlic bread away left the chips and still charged us ! staff were eating behind the counter not a great stay

Very expensive accommodation. Few things to improve can make it better for sure. First the price versus room. To reach your room from reception, quite a challenge. No lift, and a lot of stairs to go up. Someone with a big language will need time and effort to find his room. The rooms need and update compared with the price. No remove control for me TV, carpet not fitted properly, and a very sophisticated shower head. I was needed around 10 min to find a decent water temp to take a shower. For the price you pay maybe they should think about including breakfast ( at list the continental one), in the room price.

Never stayed here as only live 5 min away, go there to watch football, nice pub with a few teles

The service is very nice and always tries to make it even better than it is. Although it is more than 100% recommended. It's a pity that I only had the opportunity to be here twice. Maybe one day I will be able to come back here, which I will do with limited pleasure ❤️

What a place, we work away often in this area and have a wide choice of places to stay, yes there are some expensive upper class places we can go, but we return here because the service is 110%, and my shout goes out to Steve, He is the reason if us returning, loves a laugh and really looks after you!, rooms may need a little update, but they are cosy and clean, food is always top notch along with top levels of service. Well done Steve and the team, and not forgetting the amazing chef!! Look forward to working in the area in the near future to return here 💪

Called in for a drink to watch some football. Didn't expect to have to suffer foul and disgusting language from another person in the place. This very aggressive behaviour drove me and a number of other customers out but appeared to be tolerated by the staff. Apparently not the first time as I learn leaving the place from others going elsewhere. Place to avoid unless you like obsescenity and potential aggravation. Hope the management review the cctv they claim to have and take the necessary action.

The manager was struggling with low staff numbers so service was slow.. Food good. Plenty of parking spaces. Lively àtmosphere.

We spent the day and night here for a private party. The place is full of personality and staff are very friendly. The rooms are great value, clean and comfortable, our evening meals in the bar (which was buzzing) were very nice and the breakfast was very good. We were very well looked after by Steven and the team

I didn’t book room however we usually go to the restaurant for breakfast . Today we visited and received very poor service . Ordered 2 full English breakfast and coffee. Waited 30 mts and we saw the people who ordered after us has been served food . Waited another 10 mts and end up in pub reception for asking about food . We had our food and waited for coffee . Went to the reception and asked for coffee ( looks like they completely forget it) . Severed coffee after 15 mts . Felt not welcomed and experienced very poor service. I think we are the only Asian customers in there ??? Is it that reason . Last time when we visited the lady who was on duty was very good and well provided the service to her customer. Poor experience . We don’t visit again this place . So disappointed.

Popped in for a quick drink, and a couple of us had food. The service was good and the staff were friendly. The food was good and they catered for food allergies.

Great food and service, hunters chicken was delicious, mac and cheese was so cheesy and super succulent beef burger

I chose the ‘Award winning British beef and Ruddles pie’. Sadly all that might have been achieved an award was if awarded for thick virtually impossible to cut pastry and gravy with very little meat. The ‘seasonal vegetables’ were unseasonal peas, and carrots that had a crust, perhaps from reheating? The buttery potatoes were ok once some seasoning was added. It is unusual for me to not finish my meal. Service was perfectly adequate.

Family room fine but six flights of stairs to get there, evening meal was very nice and the patience and helpfulness of Calum our waiter couldn’t have been better, thank you again young man

Great place to stay, we stayed 1 night, had our dog with us, room in ground floor was a bit dated as was receprion , but had everthing we needed. Great shower plenty of hot water,comfy bed, fantastic breakfast served in the restaurant/ bar, we also had an evening meal there, staff were lovely and attentive especially Calum.

Great afternoon in the Raven. Great food and great service from Olivia. We have ate here the last two days and the food has been spot on.

Stayed for 1 night, the room was basic but clean, bed and bedding good. Due for a bit of an upgrade. Breakfast failed, was all there but cold. Then went in for Sunday lunch same problem again. Cold food and a long wait to get it.

Food is really nice and the staff are friendly. Wasn’t busy when we went in and didn’t have to wait long for food

The manager needs to get a grip on his staff. Dirty tables, unempieted ashtrays, uncollected glasses but staff standing idle behind the bar on their phone. A member of staff watched me wipe down the table myself (having had to adk for a cloth) saying I should be careful or they might need to pay me. The pub is well staffed so there is no excuse.

Basic but sweet little overnight place to stay. Staff really friendly, Really nice clean and comfy beds.

The staff were all youngsters and very inexperienced and knew very little about anything on the menu or drinks. Got the wrong drink, and i had to wait 15 minutes for my main course after my friends had started, Confused the staff completely by wanting to split the bill and got it wrong twice so i ended up paying for all of it. They were however very polite and apqologetic. The food once it arrived was very good.

Was a good location next to the station and we had a wedding nearby and was easy to arrange a taxi for. The hotel is very basic but the rooms are clean and have what you need. The place is just generally tired and the walls are very thin so we could hear someone coughing next door all night. We had lunch which was very slow but was lovely food once it arrived and also breakfast which was lovely and this was much quicker. Not sure I would stay here again but it was ideal for what we needed and good value for money compared to other places in the area.

Advertised for weeks as THE place to watch the rugby World Cup - first England match; most TVs showing ‘Skyscraper’ starring the Rock; 1 TV showing the Rugby. No volume, music blasting out instead. Oh, and halfway through a Bon Jovi tribute act kicks off. Amazing !

Perfect throughout the visit. Clean and tidy pub/restaurant. Sports bar but separate restaurant area. Caters for all ages/abilities. Services impeccable, food quality superb. The best Hunters Chicken, ever and I eat this all the time. Steak cooked beautifully and blue as requested. Faultless. Will definitely visit again when in the area

Excellent meal with the family at The Raven, Hook. Staff all very pleasant and friendly, menu was inviting, food quality was excellent. Beers were in good condition so cellar must be being well looked after. Would certainly recommend The Raven. Stephen the manager was extremely pleasant and personally checked that our meal and service was up to standard. Well done to all the staff.

Very good experience today - having called in advance to confirm BT Sports was showing my match, we arrived in time to order very nice Steak and Chips and Fish. Friendly service and plenty of parking made it a great night out !

I had a lovely stay with my family here at the weekend. It felt very homely, Dianne and her staff team were lovely and friendly. I reported an issue with my shower, and was given a key to the vacant room next door so I could use that shower instead. The whole place had a positive atmosphere. 10 out of 10 from me. Well worth a visit. 😊

Visited recently to meet friends for dinner and drinks. The food was great and really friendly staff. We decided to stay on longer for the live music which was unexpected and a really fun atmosphere.

redecorate the rooms, stop people smoking weed in the rooms, change the carpets and sack the chef. This is at best contractor type digs and a poor standard. The corridors stink of weed, the carpets are dirty and threadbare.

As a 25+ yr local, we have 3 pubs in the village/town and BY FAR The Raven is the best. Great beer, nice for, fabulous service, lovely atmosphere... what's not to love!
