Tried the Hampshire Arms as had been told that the food was lovely.Sadly this was not the case I ordered Steak & Kidney pudding with mash and peas. The mash tasted off and the pudding was over cooked. Did advise the bar staff about the potatoe. Would suggest not ordering this dish if the chef they have on today is working. Very disappointed.

We visited here for the first time since the new owners had taken over. This once busy place, seemed almost dead on arrival for Sunday lunch. We had two gorgeous roast dinner lunches which were excellent. There was issue on arrival with the drinks, the bar man struggled to pour a lager shandy, and mess a hash of it. My wife ordered a tonic water and was just handed the bottle, had to ask for a glass with ice, and got a pint glass for a 250 ml drink…. It was not until after we left that we realised that we had been charged for a full pint, rather than a shandy and they must be make over 100% profit on the tonic water as it was £2.95 for a small mixer bottle. Not the best experience overall, but the food was excellent, hence the score

The roast dinner here was absolutely superb - one of the best we've had. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, the meat tender and flavourful and the potatoes and Yorkshire pudding second to none. The gravy was delicious and made the whole dinner. We will be back.

This lovely little country pub really is a hidden gem ! We called to see if they were able to fit in a party of 10 on a Sunday last minute . The staff were so friendly and helpful, our food was served promptly and all together . It really was amazing, well presented, hot, home cooked and so tasty . The delicious homemade apple and blackberry crumble was made from fruit grown in the garden ..... you can't get much fresher or locally sourced than that . We ate in the lovely outside area, there were out door games for the children to play with and we all enjoyed some much needed family time . We can't wait to come back ! Thank you x

Think this pub must have new ownership as the service and staff were abysmal. Starting from having to ask about getting a menu, to being given 4 different menus (Some written on a piece of paper) and then one plate of food coming out 12 minutes before everyone else’s which made them feel incredibly uncomfortable. Work on your staffs service skills and time management as this used to be a great pub for food, won’t be returning.

Booked to celebrate our sons birthday. It was not busy and plenty of staff but we were ignored and service non existent. Meal selection was fine but not served together and we waited a lengthy time and when this was highlighted to manager no apology offered. No one returned to our table to see if we were now okay -total disappointment and took away the enjoyment of the food We have dined here before and often stopped for a drink and no problem

After hearing management had moved from Six Bells to here, we popped in for Sunday lunch. Greeted by a good roast dinner that included some cauliflower cheese. The beef was ok but not amazing.Nicely roasted, potato, carrots, sweet potato and even asparagus. Some fried greens added some much needed colour. Topped with big Yorkshire and tasty gravy. However, the dish was crying out for some simple fresh green vegetables such as peas, broccoli beans etc. Not only for colour and texture but also maybe a bit healthier! Big plans for the garden reconstruction. So can't wait to return in the summer for some Al fresco jazz, pizza BBQ etc

Yet another treat yesterday at the Hampshire Arms. A midway lunch between Christmas and New Year was a welcome break after cooking over the holiday. This is a super village restaurant and pub/bar. A great location in beautiful Crondall village. When I come here it’s always an exciting and reliable menu and quality food in a beautiful calm and relaxing atmosphere. The staff, and one young lady in particular, are friendly and bend over backwards to make you feel at home. I have nothing but praise for this place.

Family of 6 adults. Just moved to thr area first experience of Hampshire Arms. I had read the reviews which are extremely good however hoping I wouldn't be disappointed by the roast dinner! We have been to quite a few in different places but not found anywhere that cooks a roast as good as a home cooked one. UNTIL NOW. absolutely without a doubt the best roast I have ever had. We all agreed it was superb. Meat was either beef or pork. Both cooked to perfection. Crackling was delicious as well. Roast potatoes were crispy. Veg was perfect and not over cooked. The gravy was scrummy yummy. Honestly could recommend enough. The staff were friendly, quick but not over bearing. We will be back. Just deliscious.

This was out first visit to this pub and we were hoping for a family Sunday lunch - the first since the relaxation of lockdown rules. The first thing of note was that the staff were outside hosing down the patio area and surrounding grass at 11:55am when we arrived not leaving enough time for the areas to dry prior to opening at 12 noon. We were shown to our reserved table and were told that unfortunately the establishment was only offering their take-away menu for our selections. I understand the reasons for this and we accepted it without question due to the circumstances. Two of our party ordered The Big Kahuna Burger which came with tripled-friend chips; two had the chicken curry; one had the Whitby Baby One More Time; my granddaughter had chicken goujons and tripled-fried chips; we ordered three side portions of onion rings. The burgers can be described as being "rare" - not to my liking but edible. The fish dish were fine but the biggest problem was that the chicken curry was, basically, four chicken goujons (the same as my granddaughter had) along with some plain boiled rice and what was can only be described as a curry sauce which probably came from a jar. In addition, the cutlery was brought to pour table a good three or four minutes after the food had arrived! All of ice cream that was ordered for deserts (four portions) arrived and, when we managed to separate it, we discovered that the inside was basically ice!

Unbelievably speechless about the horrific manager. Unfortunately my burger was horrid. The lovely waitresses were apologetic and one of them went to get the manager. OMG I have never been spoken to like that from someone in the hospitality business. I am in customer services myself and no what it’s like being on the receiving end of complaints, so I am always as nice as can be. I am at home now and still in shock by the way we were spoken to. He actually said “people like you” and told us to get out of his pub. No apology, no trying to put things right. We paid inflated price for a burger that I simply couldn’t eat. After lockdown I would have thought he would be trying to win customers loyalty back not turning them away to tell many local people of their hideous experience. SHAME ON YOU, you let your lovely waitresses down and my rating for service at the bottom is no reflection on them.

So pleased that the Hampshire Arms have been able to open their doors again. But Charlie and Bronnie haven’t been moping around waiting for this day. They have been preparing good quality takeaways which my family have enjoyed AND have been cooking a weekly hot lunch for over 100 older people in Crondall and Ewshot that have been self isolating since the start of the lockdown. The first scampi and chips were provided for free by Charlie as he wanted to do something for the members of the Village Pump group who normally meet in the Hampshire Arms every month. Thereafter the food was provided pretty much at cost and some 1,200 meals have been produced over 14 weeks, enjoyed and really appreciated by many of the more vulnerable people in our community. Well done Charlie and Bronnie - fabulous effort. Tony (Village Pump Group)

First day of lockdown easing and thought it would be a great ideas to book for a nice meal and a few drinks, as soon as we were seated there was a table just up around the corner from us that were very loud and causing a disturbance, great service of our food and drinks, I really can’t complain about the service provided there. The table continued to be a disturbance and while my guest on my table went past them to go to the toilet, was soaked in beer as things escalated between them. The manager didn’t really do much to intervene, and came to our table to reassure us that they were going to be banned from the premises. 10 minutes later the same people who kicked off were allowed back into the pub. That will be the last time I spend a single penny at that place. Very disappointed that Charlie the manager went against his ruling of banning the people involved. It was also very noticeable that the same gents were going to the toilet every 10 minutes, and coming out sniffing like they had a symptoms of a cold or maybe even Covid 19.

Our first visit as fairly new to the area. Very welcoming, friendly, helpful staff. Enjoyed looking at the cars as it was a Motor fest event. Food was lovely, my husband had the pie of the day and I enjoyed roast beef. Will definitely be returning. Great country location near the Basingstoke canal.
