I recently had a fantastic meal here with the family. Wonderful food and very attentive staff. A massive shout out to Viki who helped us navigate ordering with my dad's intolerances. It's rare to find a restaurant that is willing to make such big alterations to a dish. All in all everyone left happy and full. Would highly recommend to anyone planning an affordable family meal out.

Popped in here on the off chance, wish we hadn't!. The place is run down and dirty, certainly would not eat in here. Left feeling like I needed a shower!. Definitely a NO from me.

We have just had our 8 year olds pizza making party here, and I would definitely give it 10/10!! Our party host Vicky was superb! Kept 12 children 7-12yrs engaged and all the children had lots of fun. Would definitely recommend it. Vicky didn't let me do anything, which was great 😃

If you're feeling like a good breakfast, this is the place to aim for, plentiful free parking if your not local once inside Tuck in to all your favourite breakfast items, as much as you need to fill up, good quality food nicely cooked fried bread for a special treat and the bacon is especially good thick top quality amazing value and if your still hungry you just help yourself to some more, then I totally recommend a good long walk along the sea front just to take the guilty feeling away for being rather over enthusiastic at breakfast this morning. Thanks, INN BY THE SEA. I'll restart my diet tomorrow...Again.!!!

Limited choice if you don't want all you can eat option.

Had the carvery, it was very nice but mash and veg lacked seasoning. Meat lovely, yorkshires lovely, roast potatoes amazing, went back 3 times for more 😋 my grandchildren lucas, ethan and Mia loved it 😋

I went here a couple of days ago for the breakfast! It was really fairly priced with a great selection of food. I’m probably going to make it a weekly treat now as I did really enjoy it. It’s worth booking a table though as it was busy, but for good reason.

Had the best roast today absolutely yummy ! The meat was cooked to perfection 👌 great customer service serving dinner and Jamie at the bar went above and beyond with my grandson thankyou guys 😁

brilliant food and service, accommodated a large group of us for my nans 90th at short notice. food was amazing and thorough with allergy , really a lovely carvery and my nieces burgers and pizzas looked amazing !

Invited here by a relative, not again ever. Kitchen staff moaning about food running out for carvery had 3 beef was very fatty, service poor and the children pizza meal we waited for before getting are carvery took well over 30min and then had to wait again for a the kids chips, about 7-8 in a little dish, I work in catering I know it's hard work.... But this was beyond poor... After telling the floor staff. Was told there put are point across, no care for the custom coming through the doors. ( As Google asks what dishes would you recommend none if it's this bad )

Came here for a birthday meal and was very happy at the service by the staff as well as the fantastic food. Great value for money and plenty of places to sit.

Twas a chill evening, had a nice Mac n Cheese and cranberry juice. Service was quick, food was tasty and the Cranberry juice was exquisite.

We had the new cheeseburger and carbonara pizzas and they were delicious 😋

Got told we couldn't order burgers due to apparent technical issue with the till which wasn't our fault it was theirs, not much choice on the menu, decor was horrible half painted rolling pins, window frames were splitting, the roast wasn't a that nice the vegetables (carrots & sprouts) were very soft and the staff were shouting which we could hear while trying to eat som of what was on the plate, only good thing was the turkey. I don't recommend this place

My sister and I popped in for a quick bite to eat with some trepidation after a visit a few years ago which was quite awful. We were greeted ad given a table,the menu was fairly extensive and very reasonable, our main server was a young lady called Ashley, who clearly loves her job as she was incredibly efficient but so lovely at the same time, she is a credit to the pub and the company as a whole

The meal was not up to standard it was not as good as it has been previous times the meat was dry there was scraps of the meat just on show the beef was the size of a hand and it was all fat the leeks was just like in a runny sauce and did not really seem that cooked They seem to have kept us waiting a long time and then after they called us and then we went up they put more fresh stuff out And the manager was shouting from the bay window to the girl in the pizza bar and the manager even shouted out will someone wash the pots before they leave the guy on the Carvery was listening to people's personal conversations and replying to them it is one of the worst meals we have ever had there you could tell the owner was away as it was not up to standard like it is when the landlord is there

Good carvery good value for money

I just ordered a traditional carvery x2 for delivery and it not long arrived. I was being generous with a 1 star rating. The roast potatoes are not roasted more cremated in a deep fat fryer,completely inedible! I tried to bite into one and was unable 2 accomplish that feat so i physically prised it open with my hands as i couldnt penetrate it was my cutlery either.. after an awfull lot of effort i suceeded to break the outer shell to find it completely hollow inside... the rest are no better,this is the worst roast dinner iv ever had by a considerable mile! What went so wrong ???? im so dissapointed!!

The staff were really accommodating, the carvery was very nice, lovely selection of meats, we had the pork, which was cooked perfectly. The roast potatoes were cooked beautifully, crispy but fluffy inside. There was a slight after taste from the oils used to cook the potatoes and yorkshire puddings but overall very nice and a really good price. My only grumble was the seating outside, not very accessible from the bar for people with limited mobility, I was with my Mum and it was quite a distance to get outside but other than that, we really enjoyed it.

Meat. Portion size is terrible. Yes the vegetables are plentiful but they are also cheap. The inn by the sea is looking shabby, old decor, poor quality chairs and tables lead to an overall poor appearance and experience.

Just had a beautiful roast, the food was great, the service was wonderful with great staff, love the new way of being served no queuing and jostling at the food counter, lovely experience all round thankyou

Great local pub, breakfast and carvery amazing and reasonable prices. Great choice in both. Suitable for families - beer garden for children to play in. Service is good and Viki is a total legend! Totally recommend and will definitely visit again

Absolutely disappointed. This place has gone down hill for sure. Went to this place twice within the same week and the experience was just the same. 1. The rude staff: honestly the staff attitude forwards paying customers is appalling. The slouching/leaning on chairs, not making eye contact, not even writing down your orders, leaving your table before we even finished our order. Threw (well kinda) our food on the table telling us the order is perfect and walking away. Having awful attitude when we say our order is wrong. It’s just appalling honestly. Specially the waitress with the red hair, she’s the worst one at of all of them. Honestly, I’m surprise she’s still working there to this day, she clearly hates her job. But she takes It out of us. Not to mention she accused my family once of not paying for our food when we did and did prove it to her. But the couple and didn’t pay left before us but no questions were asked to them. Just us. 2. Being treated differently: as I mentioned before, I’ve been here twice within the same week, 1st time with my parents and 2nd with my friends and can I just say we were treated far differently then everyone else. Like for one we didn’t have anyone come over to our table to take our orders. We waited for 30 minutes to be served but nothing! All the other tables around us got served so we had to use the app, which took ages btw because of the bad signal. Not only that, the burger we ordered that took bloody 30 minutes to cook and it was burnt! Honestly speaking, it was the worst burger I’ve ever eaten. Definitely wasn’t worth spending my money on. We just immediately left after. We are young adults wanting to eat something for dinner and they treated us so differently and didn’t take us seriously at all. They just places us in a corner and didn’t even serve us. 3. Food: Like I mentioned, the food isn’t as good as I guess was. I usually get the same. Garlic bread pizza sharer and a bowl of chips, chips are amazing, I love them. But the garlic bread is half burnt half the time, and because it’s so thin it gets cold so quickly and when it’s burnt it’s crispy so can’t even taste anything but burnt charcoal it seems like. My friends burger and bun was burnt. I don’t know how that even happens and nobody came to check if everything was ok and if we needed anything else. Honestly wouldn’t recommend this restaurant

Thought the venue was dirty. Lacking in staff. Tried to use a groupon voucher and they had hardly any of the options. Over 1 hr wait for pizza. Not any gluten free options apart from carvery .. would not come again

The staff were so lovely, helpful and attentive- even though it was a busy evening! The food was delicious and served quickly after ordering and I especially recommend the fajita burger!! Isobel and Lily served us, they were so nice and checked in on us throughout the meal- a truly lovely dinner, definitely would come again :)

Just had all you can eat breakfast. Fantastic selection, fried bread and black pudding included to my husbands delight. The food was delicious and friendly service atca great price. Will definitely be back soon.

Went for Sunday carvery.cavery lush and fresh, plenty of it, nice and clean restaurant. Great atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff especially ashamed who really looked after us, she was so professional and friendly and really made our visit special will definitely be back

Great little pub carvery was great

We turned up very early evening unbooked on the off chance it was not too busy. What we were met with was an abrupt, rude, ignorant, stressed out, unprofessional, unaccommodating manager and bar staff. (The Chef, bless her, although clearly stressed was the only member of staff seemingly holding the place together). I think Gordon Ramsey clearly needs too visit this establishment to give their heads a wobble and teach them some manners. Absolutely disgusting behaviour for a so called hospitality business. Not what any paying customer with a family of children wants to witness. We obviously left without eating after waiting to order at the empty bar clearly being ignored by staff who were pretending to be busy doing Absolutely nothing. We shall not return with haste.

It has been a couple of years since we visited IBS,it will be another couple of years before we visit again in the hope it has improved. We had a carvery, cauliflower mainly stalk the potatoes well you could hardly cut them the meal was cold I cant be bothered to carry on about the meal,other tables near us also had the same complaints,and to top it all the ladies toilets are disgusting,the whole place needs a deep clean.

Lilly was a first host and looked after us superbly throughout our time at the venue. The food was first class and excellent value. Lilly was very personable and kept us smiling throughout the evening. She was the perfect host.

A great experience, our waitresses Lilly I believe was one and a new young lady were both polite, friendly and professional in there manner, would strongly recommend and both the waitresses deserve praise from the employer before they are poached by another company…..well done ladies

We come here often, and every time the food never disappoints (especially the carvery). The service here is especially great, shoutout to our server lilly who seems to never stop working as had served us every time we have come. Such a friendly atmosphere, will definitely be coming back.

We walked in and waited several minutes to be acknowledged. No one came to where 4 people were standing by the sign, which read “Please wait to be seated.” We walked to the bar and asked if we should sit down or wait and the woman behind the bar told us to wait. Once we were provided a table, we went to the food line for breakfast. There were only beans and what looked like tinned tomatoes. After waiting nearly ten minutes someone asked what we were all waiting for. We told her we were waiting for everything - and pointed to all of the empty black dishes. Another woman came out and said nothing was ready and for us to return to our tables and wait. About ten minutes later she walked around the restaurant asking people if they were waiting for food and that it was ready. When we went up, there were about four overcooked eggs swimming in oil in a black dish, waffles and a mound of undercooked bacon, which was inedible. I asked if they could make more eggs or make the eggs differently and she said no. We walked out extremely disappointed and hungry. The food was not only inedible, but we wasted £12 and waited nearly 20 minutes to eat two hash browns and a soggy sausage. I do not recommend this restaurant and I’d never go back again.

We booked a table for 5pm as we had a baby that we needed to get home to bed at a reasonable time. We were shown to our table and ordered food via the app. A highchair was at the table as booked, which was good. It was very cold in the restaurant as the door kept being opened and the wind rushing in and we had to return to the car for more layers! Another family nearby asked to move tables due to this and were told that this was not possible. We went up to the bar to purchase our drinks - the member of staff behind the bar ignored us standing there and just stared at a laptop, even when we politely asked "should we go round the corner to get served?" Another group of people behind us had the same problem. 2 people in our party had ordered a couple of starters to have as mains and we clearly indicated in the app that we would like these at the same time as the other mains. These starter dishes arrived after about 20 mins. After another 10mins I went to the bar to enquire about the rest of our meals, explaining that we had asked for everything to come at once and asking whether there was a problem. The member of staff went to check and came back saying "I'm sorry darling, it's going to be quite a while". It was clear that our conversation was now over and there was no offer to remedy the situation. After waiting an hour for the rest of our food, we returned to ask again. We were told that the person wanting the carvery could now go up and the other meals "should be soon". There were lots of free tables (our entire section was empty) so the restaurant was not incredibly busy. When our meals came it was almost 90 mins from ordering. We had seen that the pizza and burger had been sitting on top of the serving area for a good 10mins and as a result they were barely lukewarm when we received them. We debated sending them back but were very hungry and thought it wouldn't achieve anything expect a further wait, and we needed to get the baby to bed soon, so we ate the almost-cold food. The person waiting for the carvery had gone to be served but was told to return to his seat whilst they "got it all ready" and the staff would come and get him. We were very confused as we couldn't see what needed to be ready - other people were being served, we had been told to go up and all the carvery items were present and waiting to be served. This person returned to his seat via the toilets, where the toilet was blocked and there was no hand soap. As no-one reappeared to fetch him for the carvery as we had been told, he went back again and was now allowed to have a plate of food. As a result 2 people had finished their dinner 45 mins before the majority of the rest was served and were then dealing with a fractious baby and the person eating the carvery ate in almost a third sitting! We had to laugh because we didn't know what else to do and our polite enquiries and concerns were very much dismissed by the staff. It was not an ideal birthday meal out and we shall not be returning.

Great self serve breakfast with all the normal ingredients but it can get really busy and sometimes the topping up is behind but can't fault the set up nor the quality . Friendly service and they will do their best to fit you in if turning up without booking but highly advise booking.

The inn by the sea is a nice family place to eat but me and my wife had a all you can eat breakfast but we fund the quality of the food was Luke warm and the sausage was of the lower price but the staff was very friendly and welcoming.

Advertised breakfast until midday but arrived at 11:20 as they were almost clearing away so got the leftovers of the earlier breakfast? Amend your website so people know this, thanks.

We really enjoyed our carvery and the desserts were delicious. The lady who served us, I think her name was Leah or Lily (sorry if I got it wrong) was really lovely and attentive, nothing was too much trouble for her. Would highly recommend The Inn by The Sea because of its highly tasty food, cheerful and friendly staff and just a lovely ambience. We will definitely dine there again

We was charged over £10 for a single gin with lemonade. Carvery was good minus the potatoes they had no crisp and tasted like they had been left out for hours. Cauliflower cheese was really nice. Didn’t have to wait to get served at bar longer than a few minutes, but waited a while for Carvery. They said it shouldn’t take longer than 5 minutes but we waiting a lot longer than that. All serves were lovely and polite and our table was clean.

Has gone downhill since covid shame as really used to like the roasts and the staff were friendly and was always busy sadly no longer the case

Made a last minute booking for a late Sunday lunch. We sat in the garden as it was a very hot day. My 85 year old mother had the fish and chips which she really enjoyed, she liked the thin batter that didn't overwhelm the fish and the tartare sauce, My husband and I had pizzas that were very tasty. The food was good value for money. The staff were very helpful and there was good service. My only reservation was the tables in the garden had no umbrellas so we had to take a very unsteady elderly lady to the back of the garden where the tables were in the shade. We will come again.
