Poppins Restaurant Gosport in Gosport

I normally enjoy ordering from Poppins, but today my baguette which I asked to be served hot and coasted arrived cold. So in total I paid over £14 for a cold baguette.

Overall ok food was nice and most of it was reasonably priced. But some things on the menu were overpriced for what they were. But I would still recommend anyone looking for food in Gosport to go here.

Update. Management apologised and offered us 2 free meals. They still will not offer kids meals below 10 years though so probably won't eat there again. Never had a problem until yesterday. Tried to order a kids jacket potato as my wife has a small appetite to be told it's only for children under 10 years., despite a sign saying they support dietary restrictions! No where does it state that on the menus, and we have always purchased for our sons even though they are older than 10. Not only did they miss out on the order, but they also lost a customer as we will not be returning to Poppins again.

Good honest food, good service by friendly staff.

Highly recommend. Spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff. Visited a number of times over the last week. Consistently good. Excellent service always polite and helpful. Great cup of tea and excellent value. Will definitely return and rate highly. Not to be overlooked. Keep up the good work

You have changed your chips to skin on fries, which I hate, and I'm very disappointed about it as you were one of the few places that did good chips that weren't skin on fries.

I thoroughly enjoy a breakfast from Poppins, very tasty.

Used to be ok then got new staff members used to go every Saturday for breakfast me and partner one week pay 36 pound it went up up till got to 50

I go here often. It is always clean, the staff are very kind and helpful. Whilst it is not a high end eatery, the food is always well cooked and hot and decent portions. I would choose Gosport Poppins over many other eateries that are available.

Used Poppins quite a bit always great food and good value

Frequently visit here, always a pleasure and always lots of bacon in the roll.

Was introduced to Poppins by my older Sister years ago just after they oppened. Have been coming fairly frequently ever since, meeting family and/or friends. Great if you want just a cup of tea or coffee, Brekky, Lunch, a Quick Snack etc. They have a great Menu. Food fresh & cooked great. Whole place is always spotlessly clean including toilets! The staff are always welcoming, kind & helpful. Would recommended Poppins to everyone!

This cafe must is the cleanest place in gosport it is a credit to the very friendly staff. It was a party of 4 this morning and we all had different food and everyone's was absolutely fabulous i can not give a better recommendation. And not even expensive. It was 37 pounds for all our food and coffee

When I came here I found the place having a weird atmosphere along with the staff, the menu is strangely priced and the options, end up spending a lot more than other cafes in the area. Kind of feels like they get as much money from you as they can your first visit because they know you won’t be intending to return quite honestly

Had breakfast here with my lovely wife. Food was great. We are hoping to visit all the Poppins cafés. So far we have been to. Gosport Havant Petersfield Eastleigh Waterloovile Portswood Basingstoke Who knows which one we will visit next. Xx might even see you there.

I just wanted to say, somebody teach them how to serve chicken curry with rice. I thought this food reheating with microwave same plate. Curry + toast bread + Fanta = £14,25 🙁 this food doesn’t worth it and no taste also. The main guy has black t-shirts, he has no happy today unfortunately😐, no welcome but lady gave good service.

They left the food on the doorstep, didn't knock or ring the doorbell to let us know. So food was cold and the baguettes were hard and parts were unediable. Shame as we order all the time from here and the last couple of times not been impressed. Won't order again from here.

The food was really salty, very small portions, over priced.

My jacket potato had a funny taste, to the point it as unedible and I had to throw it in the bin. The bacon was also way over cooked and hurt my mouth to try snd eat it.

My boys and I love this place. My eldest has the smuggler every time and my youngest decides on the day. Staff are patient and kind. Always go out of their way to help. Food is tasty too.

Well... Where do I start..?!?! Visited "Poppins" (🙄) the other week with my mother and expected a pleasant time after reading the countless positive reviews on here. But oh how wrong I was proven...! The first thing that hit me was the FOUL ODOR of ROTTEN EGGS when I entered. I mean,, yes they serve fried/scrambled eggs but the smell was OVERWHELMING...! I wondered if perhaps one of the gentlemen sitting at the window table had soiled themselves but NO; the smell lingered...! Anyway..., I digress.... I was astonished by the amount of choice (NOT) of the overpriced food they had to offer.. The staff here were fairly pleasant when taking orders however the food took almost an hour to come out...?!?! We only ordered full Englishes..?? It's not rocket science ! Surprisingly, the food was OK. But I didn't get a chance to finish my beans, as the moment I put my cutlery down OUR PLATES WERE WHISKED AWAY...?!?! I hadn't finished my beans....? Rude ! Decent food, rubbish service and overpriced for bog standard grub..!! Well, I certainly won't be POPPIN' in to "POPPINS" ever again....

A gorgeous sausage, bacon and egg sandwich. Have been here again for brunch and it didn't fail to disappoint again. Loved it.

Went in today with my two grand daughters for breakfast the waiter got 2 orders wrong food was OK but talk about expensive ! £31.90 won't be going again and food not that good to justify price !

This is an ordinary looking cafe outside, but always clean and with well cooked and appetising, retro kind of food -comforting and comfortable. The helpful friendly atmosphere and super professional service is just brilliant every time

Good selection of food and drinks

Most of the staff were very good, however one was not. Taking plates when you are still eating is extremely rude, especially when you lean over the customer to take a side plate and then come back and try to take your plate before you have finished.

The tea was crushed witch made everything wet, also when we ordered the chicken nuggets and chips their was no option to remove the beans so we assumed they would come separately as it did with the English breakfast, but that did not occur witch meant that food was completely pointless as it wasn’t touched, and the beans has spilled out causing everything to just be everywhere and a mess.

Wonderful family run business, great food, and drinks very good value, short walk from the submarine base.

Kept saying courier was aware of the order then that kept getting pushed back for an hour then said driver is at the restaurant and that kept getting pushed back all in all we placed the order at 12:05 and finally got it at 14:00 so near on two hours whilst trying to keep a hungry 3 year old entertained while we waited, this isn’t a reflection on the restaurant but just eats abysmal service I don’t know why they accept the orders when they clearly don’t have the drivers to make all the deliveries, the food arrived hot (so was obviously cooked to order and wasn’t hanging around) and was very tasty

A blast from the past. The place is like an old Wimpy cafe. A real retro eating or motorway services experience from days gone by. A little pricey with their meals, yet the tea and teacake crowd seem to be happy. Living history in the centre of Gosport.

Came for lunch here as I’d heard the Poppins in Southampton was good. I haven’t had such care and attention since I went to one of the Ivy brasseries- and such a friendly atmosphere. I had a simple meal that was very fresh, hot and all well cooked and delicious. The menu is retro and I hoped to have room to try a knickerbocker glory but I couldn’t manage one this time. Loved it there will definitely be back

Very clean establishment and good food

It isn't very often I go into Gosport but when I do, I always make a point to eat at Poppins café Gosport. The food is prompt and well made, the staff very friendly and as each table is vacated, the staff remove all items from the table and cleaned the whole area including all the seats. Very very good

Enjoyed the burgers and would have given 5* but drop a star as would have liked the option to have onions added to the burgers

Was decent enough just ridiculously overpriced, the food was ok, portions are small.service is what you would expect from a popins, the staff hover over you like flies. Coffee is terrible. To be honest, i probably wouldn't go back here again. the prices are ridiculous, save your money, and eat elsewhere.

When we went to popins all I wanted was a simple chocolate milkshake and they had sirves me a stupid horrible 😤 banana 🍌 milkshake, now there is one thing you should know about me….. I HATE BANANAS 🍌 Popins, more like pop out

The sandwich was ok, but wasn't exactly good value for money. The lemon meringue pie was the worst I have ever had, it was grainy, watery, unpleasant texture and really did not taste of lemon. Plus it wasn't a chicken mayo baguette, it was a salad baguette with a little chicken and a drizzle of mayo

My favourite place to eat. Very clean, yummy food, reasonably priced, the staff are amazing and nothing is ever too much trouble, such a friendly atmosphere.

Visit Gosport about ten times a year but always make a point of visiting Poppins. Staff are friendly and service is excellent. Food is always delicious and good value. Clean and bright restaurant and always made to feel welcome.

Well packed, beans were in a separate pot which is great so the other items don’t go soggy! Food and tea was good temperature! Would definitely order again.

Poppins restaurant was again a visit hat I had to make, food excellent, service and cleanliness first rate and the price does not blow the budget.

Nice food, quick delivery but was missing item from breakfast.

Again really good breakfast, only glitch was I didn’t receive my large tea and have been told by Poppins to mention this when I next order.

Never been here before but it was clean, the staff were polite and the food was good.

I have awarded 6 stars. One slight gripe which doesn’t detract from the piping hot and well cooked food is that I ordered an extra slice of bacon but didn’t receive it. Thank you for taking into account my personal food item request and supply extra items in place of those where I asked for them to be omitted. Btw the Delivery Driver was really pleasant!

The staff are very helpful and welcome you in with smiles and the food is first rate and served to you at your table within minutes of your arrival which is a lot quicker than some fast food outlets. The restaurant is very clean inside and the staff are very keen for their customers to have a great experience and enjoy their meals. My wife and I have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions whilst visiting family in the area and have never had any complaints about the service or food, I would definitely recommend a visit.

The price for the size of a portion of chips is absolutely ridiculous and they are over cooked and dry! Will not order from from here again! Extortionately priced!

Although I did ask for bacon to be well done and not crispy it was very crispy and hard to eat and I didn’t like it! Rest of the breakfast was fine and ty for taking my personal food item into consideration and delivering it

When you look in at this restaurant, you might think it very busy; it is! There are three obvious reasons for this - great service, lovely food, immaculate hygiene. On arrival, within 30 seconds, a member of staff will greet you. After a minute more, they will return to ask after your drink preference. This arrives at the table within a minute or two. They return within a few minutes to take your order. The menu is fantastic, not just in breath of choice but in how it presents; there is a photograph of every option on the menu, which is great for non-English speakers and young children. The food arrives promptly, we'll cooked, beautifully presented and (apart from the cold choices) piping hot. The staff enquire if you would like any additional condiments (salt, pepper, vinegar and tomato ketchup are on the table) and swiftly return with your request. The efficiency of the service continues with the staff removing crockery and cutlery you have finished with, giving you plenty of table surface room. Payment is accepted via card or cash. When a diner vacates the table, two staff members immediately attend; one staff member removes all cutlery, crockery and used napkins etc, whilst the other cleans and disinfects the table and chairs. They also try (subject to how busy the restaurant is) to sweep under the table. This is a family run restaurant and has a truly customer satisfaction focus oozing out of every staff member. I wholly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

What great staff and value for money it makes up for the2inch plaice at Worthings. We went for lunch and we were over whelmed with the amount of food given.

Went here for lunch with a friend and 3 kids after visiting the submarine (20 minute walking distance). The food is relatively cheap but low quality. My fish was the likes you get frozen from supermarket, chips ok. No condiments for the salad apart from "cream salad". Sausages again poor quality. Good points: food arrived quickly, the staff was nice and helpful, the venue was very clean

Wouldn't know. coffee spilt in the bag, all over the food and because they use paper bags, fell all over the doorstep. too busy with work to be able to get another one. and only a feeble sorry from the driver as they walked away.

I’d give more stars if I could, I had a call to say they’d forgotten to add the drink. So the guy personally brought it to me! 10/10 service that!

My husband Like the breakfast BUT he said to drop 2 stars due to the Blackpudding as although it was cooked properly it was Far to Thin for the cost of it . It was Very Poor Value for the cost of Blackpudding
