it is probably the best fish and chip place in Gosport, fantastic food however it is very pricey even compared to others in Gosport. Best food high prices.

Ordered a delivery by just eat, food arrived on time and delivered by a polite person. When I checked the order it was wrong, contacted restaurant and got no joy at all even though it was their mistake. They wanted nothing to do with the error and told in no uncertain terms it's not their problem contact just eat for a refund. The lady on the phone was abrupt to the point of being rude. Will not use this place again.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE ON JUST EAT!!! Absolutely awful food. I could have played tennis with the piece of fish I got. Batter was extremely rubbery, chips were not too bad. The delivery was running over half an hour late by the time we received it and to be honest the fish tasted like it had been in the couriers car for over an hour.

Probably wouldn't use this place again. Last time I visited was a few years ago. Frozen sausages fell out of the freezer onto the floor and were put back in, there used to be a pink haired lady there and occasionally strands of pink hair in the food. Otherwise the food is ok.

Had a great meal yesterday afternoon had a half pounder and chips the burger has great I really enjoyed it and all the salad 🥗 in it too and the lady and the gentleman who served us was very quick and efficient and made us welcome I was with my brother at the time definitely would reckon it to other people You done well

If this is what they are going to serve you could tell they were reheated tasted awful

Great fish and chip shop and restaurant, the atmosphere was quiet as it had just opened. I recommend it highly for quality, quantity, taste and friendly staff.

Usually eat here at least once a week. Staff always cheerful and service is prompt and efficient. Fish is always well cooked and chips, albeit subjective, are second to none. Prices are competitive and eating at Frydays is always a pleasant experience.

I ordered a spring roll, and all i got was 1 rotten spring roll? There was no utensils? no napkins no nothing, The whole place was filthy and the workers were so rude and spat on me and my brother. never again.

45 min to prepare two pies and a portion of chips and the chips were completely dowsed in so much salt they were not edible. It's like the staff did that deliberately just for having the audacity of placing an order and making them do something. Avoid this place absolutely awful.

5* best fish and chips in town. We pre booked for mum's birthday with all of her friends there were 20 + guests. All cater for in style, no one was waiting for food for more than 10 minutes, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We asked for water jugs and glasses for the table, they didn't have them and I noticed one of the staff came back with jugs and glasses enough for us all. Very impressed and touched by the customer service shown to us today, it actually made me a little emotional as the lady who served us even decorated the table with confetti and happy birthday balloons for my mum off her own back. We will definitely be returning for the foreseeable future and it is so lovely to know that there are still many people out there willing to go the extra mile to make someone's day that extra special so thank you so much :) it was greatly appreciated!

This was the takeaway order . The bloke behind the drier made me walk in the other door despite the counter being empty . By the time l walked to the other end a family came in and spent ten minutes debating what to order . In the mean time three people walked in the door l came in and where served . I was ignored , until at least three people were served . I was on a twenty minute wait with my car parking . More than enough time to purchase two bags of chips . The ordered chips arrive and the person serving behind the counter had difficulties deciding which order was which . Time ran out ! I ve been using this chippy since 1975 . This is the first time that l have been treated like this . The guy behind the Frier very young , needs some people skills training .

Was empty, so it wasn't a good start, I've had a better atmosphere at a funeral home. Needs dome sort of music. I ordered fish and chips, and i wasn't disappointed. Staff, the young man, was very nice and polite. If you get a radio I will come back.

Service was very good, which is a shame considering the quality of the food. I bought OAP fish and chips with a battered sausage both of which were anemic. There was nothing golden about the batter as it was still white on both, the fish was so dry it should come with its own water supply and the chips were still virtually raw. The food was that bad my dog turned his nose up at it and wouldn’t touch it and he is know to eat his on s**t. Avoid this place and find a better one.

Went in this evening. Waited 20 minutes for fish and chips. Shocking service and the food was appalling. Would never return!

Staff and food were lovely, we sat in and ate with 5 children and 4 adults, staff were more than happy to cater for young children and dealt with the whingy elderly customers very well. Thanks again.

I went in there today and asked for an American half pounder; the picture was great, burger, lettuce, garnish etc. I handed over a £5 note and the bloke behind the counter put it in the till, closed it and then asked me if there was anything else. I said some change please. He opened the till and gave me my change without excuse or an apology. I said to put some in for charity and he put 10p in an open unmarked pot but that's another story. When my burger came it was two Burgers between a dry bap with a slice of cheese, no lettuce, garnish, or relish. At least the burger was so dry that I could tell that it hadn't been spat in. I shudder to think of what sort or relish I might have ended up with had I complained so I left it at that but I will never go back there again.

We were served quickly and correctly and the server, Josh, was friendly, helpful and pleasant. The food was excellent. I can't recommend Frydays enough.

Visited FRYDAYS today on a flying visit to see old friends from 18 years past. Having been abroad and lost contact we found our friends, but eventually you have to eat, nostalgia does not keep the stomach happy. FRYDAYS met our immediate requirements, for 2 OAP's, 2 adults and a 6yr old, all ravenous. We passed over our order and the 2 male fryers provided the right information as to what to buy, even doing a special for the little girl, and were friendly and helpful. We sat in the ferry gardens and had a thoroughly good meal and enjoyed every morsel. A really good 'chippy' and exactly what good Fish and Chips should be like. RECOMMENDED.

Pretty grim to be honest!! Advertised as one of the best chippies in Gosport... either the rest of them are dire, or this place was having a bad day?! The fish was swimming in oil, literally had it running down my hands. Chips were nothing to write home about either 😕

While the service was somewhat slow but was definitely worth the wait. The chips where nice and thick. As well as that the sausages where nice and crispy but definitely didn't taste burnt. They also gave a fairly liberal amount of condiments meaning we had plenty for the 3 of us. It was also a bit to expensive but the quality made up for that.

The best chip shop in Gosport. This place has been there for years, as far as I know it was once called the porthole. Been different names over years. Fish and chips are not oily and fresh oil is used. Doesn't have that old oil taste as some do. Also has its own sit in restaurant connected.

we went in and ordered, the guy sat on the same side with his feet up where everyones food was prepared, they then served 3 people behind us aswell as the 3 infront, because i mentioned the tongs were where his butt was. got a refund and went to another (hygienic)chippy yuk yuk yuk and yuk

Just ordered from just eat. Arrived on time i ordered, all looked fresh, very hot and tasted great. Been reluctant to order fish and chips for delivery, but wow. Will definetly order from frydays again. Great price and food.

Ordered 4 cod and chips waited for about 10 minutes as the fish was just being cooked so really fresh. Good sized cod and should have only ordered 2 potions of chips between four people. The staff kept us amused as we waited watching the young lad behind the counter chatting up some girls who were just not interested, but he never noticed.

It was the first time we have used Frydays & it was absolutely divine it was on time, piping hot & batter on the fish was gorgeous. I would definitely use again & recommend the family & friends.

Decent traditional chip shop in a good prime waterfront location. Good tasting food and clean environment. Always open in the daytime, when most others locally shut in the in-between hours. Good friendly service, BUT, since reopening after the unfortunate fire, the prices have risen slightly and the portion sizes, notably on the chips have shrunk to half the size, indicating the customer has picked up the bill for the fire damage and loss of earnings due to the shops temporary closure

Absolutely amazing food, brilliant tasting chips and the fish tastes fresh with a delicious crispy batter. Easily one of the best fish and chip shops around.

At a very close 2nd place Frydays is one of my favourite chippys in Gosport, not greasy, nice and fresh and delivered very quickly. Decent portion sizes too!

Speedy delivery and food is always hot and lovely!!! Couldn’t provide a large cod so gave us 2 small instead as well as 2 free drinks and an extra curry sauce plus loads of chips!!! Surprised at negative reviews as I am very impressed.

Best fish and chips in Gosport, but boy the 2 young girls in there need intensive lessons in customer service. Surly, no smiles, no ‘please’ when they tell you the amount to pay, no ‘thank you’ at the end. Happened several times now, so not a one-off. They do however perk up when a young lad enters the shop, so maybe send your sons...... Rest of the staff are lovely by the way.

Chips very soggy and slightly undercooked. Top end prices, bottom end quality. Batter on underside of fish soggy too. Good location to get take our and watch the harbour - however maybe get food from elsewhere...

Came here today and asked for 2 sausage with just vinegar. They coated it in salt (a mistake) which im not allowed due to a medical condition. I went back in to tell them and they charged me again ! Obviously it was a mistake but to charge someone twice for a mistake they made is disappointing. Don't worry its been posted all over Facebook and I and my family will not be returning again.

I went in there today with only a £20 note one the members of staff failed to politely tell me about the lack of change, as I was leaving they stated being very rude about me to the next customer I the checked my order and it was completely the wrong order I went back to correct this and they laughed at me

Our first time having a delivery from here and it was delivered hot and fast. Was really delicious and will definitely order again. The only thing I would suggest is that you remind your driver/drivers about social distancing because of the current climate and have something in place. I had to ask him to put the bag down and step away but he was very friendly and apologetic about it. Will order again! Thank you.

Heard great things about this place only to be let down. Chicken breast I ordered and didn’t get that. The chicken thigh they gave me instead was dry and smelt like cat wee. Didn’t receive our 2 cans of coke either. The only saving grace was the chips which still wet and greasy. All in all I was appalled with the food and to say that they don’t have drivers it’s done through Deliveroo is sort of embarrassing to. Wouldn’t reccomend some of the worst food I’ve ever had.

We have been going to fry days most Saturdays for about a year. Today when we arrived they were very busy. We ordered our meal and waited. Because they were busy we expected a long wait. However, customers who had arrivedafter us got their meals but we were left waiting. We waited some more but still nothing came. In the end we got up and went to see the lady who had taken our order. She did not apologise but complained that they were so busy. She refunded our money. She seemed pleased to do so as there one less orderto worry about. Needless to say we shall not be returning.

Just bought this portion for £1.95. I did remark this was the smallest portion ive ever had and she said it was normal. What a rip off , seriously about 25 chips

Friday night, frydays says it is opened till 9 went in at 8.05pm and already started packing up. Had 2 small cods that had obviously been there for hours and a small chips that were cold. Very very disappointed. No mushy peas which is fine as they had sold out but if I was the owner I would no way have served the food that we got. Such a let down.

Cannot fault these guys! Deliveroo driver couldn't find the house, despite me running out to find him! and refused to re-deliver. I had a bad knee so couldn't get out to pick it up. Most amazing team were so accommodating and actually re did my order and personally delivered it to me! I cannot fault the friendliness of this customer service. I finally got my food and it was awesome! Will 100% be returning!

Friday night 2 young girls serving. Very rude and talked to each other and on mobile phones. Served us our chips and said they were going to get our mushy peas. 10 mins later and after asking them for the peas twice and watching them play on their mobile phones they finally served the peas. I asked for some fresh chips as ours had now gone cold. They were very rude but finally reluctantly served some fresh chips. Fuming at their service and attitude!

I'm not sure if Fryday's have changed owners, but was quite disappointed with our meals. We ordered large cod & chips, but when it arrived you could see that one piece of fish had been cut in half then fried and was quite thin in size. On previous occasions have had a lovely large cod with lots of juicy white fish, and also the plates were cold so the chips went cold very quickly. The customer toilets were in dire need of some redecorating, they were very dirty and there was no soap to wash your hands, hand dryer or paper towels in the gents, my daughter said that the ladies was also very dirty. Unfortunately my family and I will no longer be going back here, and will find an alternative place to eat.
