Warning: California/Oregon Native here so this review will have a west coast American bias. I am a big Fish & Chips fan so naturally I wanted to try it from a Michelin Star winning pub. We took a little detour to go here on our way to Stonehenge. Also note we've eaten at quite a few Michelin Restaurants in North America and Europe so we did have certain expectations. TL;DR - very cool old pub with good food and great service. I thought it was overpriced for the food we got and maybe we just had too high of expectations. I'd still recommend it, just don't go in with too high of expectations if you're getting the Fish & Chips. Full Review - We arrived at the Hind’s Head a bit early and took the opportunity to grab a drink at the bar and just enjoy the ambiance. This was the first really old pub I'd been inside and it was really cool. It was a neat experience just being inside and soaking it all in. Now for the important part, the food. I started off by ordering a Scotch Egg. I'd never tried one before and it sounded interesting. It was really good, though I have nothing to compare it to. My wife started with the Tea smoked salmon and I have to admit that was the first disappointment. It was good quality smoked salmon, but it was nothing special and not worth the price. Also the bread and sides it was served with were nothing remarkable. For our main dishes we both got the Fish & Chips. My wife originally wanted another Fish dish that we saw on some of their menu pictures but they were not serving it at the time we were there. One unique thing about the Fish & Chips was the option to keep the skin on. They asked our preference and explained it offered more flavor. We both elected to try it and were both very happy with the decision. It definitely enhanced the flavor and I would recommend trying it. The fish was cook beautifully with a very nice crisp and flavorful batter. The chips were nice and crisp and quite enjoyable. Unfortunately, this is where my strongly positive opinions kind of trail off. I would not be this critical of a pub normally, but it's on the Michelin guide so I'm holding them to higher standards than normal. While the fish was perfectly cooked and very crispy, it was still draining a lot of oil when it arrived. They laid down a small piece of paper under it to help soak up the excess oil, but the bottom was a bit too saturated. I put a couple chips under it after noticing and that helped a lot. The chips soaked a lot of it up and helped keep the bottom from getting soggy. The amount of oil retained in the batter was a bit of a turn off. You could really feel it by the end of the meal. The dipping sauces they included didn't really do a lot for me. Both the curry sauce and chippy sauce were a bit bland and didn't add much to the dish in my opinion. I did ask if they'd be offended if I requested Tarter Sauce. They said they wouldn't beoffended, but they didn't have any. Not sure I'd that's normal or not, but I was a little bummed as I think I would have enjoyed it more with Tarter Sauce. The malt vinegar came in a little spray bottle which felt like a poorly executed idea of trying to elevate the experience. The spray bottle leaked and more dripped down the side of the bottle than came out. A normal bottle would have been more effective. Overall, the dish/meal was good and enjoyable. I don't think it was worth the extra 30 minute detour and price though. It just wasn't as good as I'd hoped and was happier with the fish & chips in both puds we stopped at in London. If you're driving through Bray or staying in town it's still a cool place to go. The service is great and it is a fun experience. Just don't go in with too high of expectations.

Popped in here for a quick drink before our dinner reservation next door. Lovely, charming bar that was packed to the rafters. We kept eyeballing the food being served, as it all looked so appetizing and comforting. Next time, we'll make sure to have time for food.

We visited this restaurant yesterday to celebrate a wedding anniversary , and unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. While the place itself looks beautiful, the prices are a little overpriced for what they offer. We were hoping for an exceptional dining experience, but that was not the case. First, we ordered a steak for £50, expecting a high-quality cut. However, what arrived was barely the size of a small female palm, with at least 25% of it being pure fat—again, for £50. On top of that, side orders start at £12 for a tiny portion. We chose French beans, which were fine, but definitely not worth the price. Next, we ordered the venison, described on the menu as chili venison with a chocolate sauce. However, when it arrived, it was completely inedible—it tasted nothing like what was described, but rather like an overpowering Indian curry, which was very unexpected and disappointing. For starters, we tried bread with butter. The bread was absolutely delicious, but two small pieces cost £6. A small recommendation: serve the bread warm to enhance the experience. We also had the salmon starter, which was fairly standard—nothing special—but the bread served with it was unpleasant in taste. Overall, this place charges far too much for what they offer. The menu is extremely limited, and for these prices, we expected exceptional food. Sadly, that was not the case. Not worth the price.

Booked a weekend in London and stopped here to meet my daughter and my new son in law. Arrived at 1:45 ready for 2 o clock sitting. They forgot about us and after reminding them twice they finally clicked. 2:30 they seated us…. Everything went wrong from there on in. Forgotten orders, food and drinks…. Dishes arriving at different times, dessert waited over 40 minutes as order not placed correctly…..etc etc. Three saving graces that kept me calm 1 My daughter told me I was going to be a grand father for the first time 2 The new manager explained that it was his first week and today was his first day flying solo and could we please bare with 3 The star of the show, Georgia, I actually thought she was a trainee manager, she took over and started to organise and sort out all our issues. She is an asset to the company and I can’t thank her enough for her efforts 🙏 The bill was heavily discounted and no service charge added The food and atmosphere was amazing 5 star The team needs to be developed and supported

staff very friendly. This was my only my third visit over the last couple of years and I’m afraid l was disappointed with the quality of the food this time, we had the sharing £95 rib of beef which we found tough, the chips and green beans lovely, we also had the popcorn chicken which l couldn’t taste any association with popcorn and was greasy and the scotch egg , which wasn’t as nice as when l had it previously so don’t know if they changed their receipe. In total our bill was Just under £160 pounds. But I’m afraid it wasn’t worth the money but brought steak home for dogs and they loved it but l won’t be rushing back. Very sad that it’s gone down hill.

Having visited the Hinds Head with some frequency over the last couple of years, it is so so sad to see how bad it has become. We visited as a couple recently and the quality is food is way below par, I cannot understand how the establishment recently attained its Michelin star. There is a really low quality of service with the waiting staff clearly under extreme pressure and lacking in experience. The prices at the Hinds Head are fine, if the food you are served is of a high quality - this is sadly no longer the case. I would strongly recommend giving this place a pass by - it’s now a case of ‘The Hinds Head, that place used to be great.’

Decent experience. A quaint restaurant in a beautiful village. Plenty of parking opposite and a few spaces out front. It's quite small inside, with various nooks and tables, with tables upstairs too. We were warmly greeted, ordered a drink at the bar before our table was ready. We visited for lunch service, taking advantage of the set lunch menu, which seemed reasonable at £55 for 2 courses at a Michelin starred restaurant. Unfortunately, echoing other observations, the service left a lot to be desired. Very slow, mistakes often with other guests and an element of clumsiness. Whilst they're clearly trying, I think the inexperience shows. Having said that, everyone needs to learn and start somewhere, however, not at this price point. When the food did arrive, it was pleasant, very well seasoned and tasty. We had the fish and pork, which were great. My wife found the fish a bit salty, but it tasted good to me. Dessert was appreciated too. The price was high, when considering the courses, drinks, snacks and service charge, so don't visit thinking it'll cost £55pp. You're also able to buy the wonderful Soughdough bread by the loaf. That'll be £20 please. On balance, it was a reasonable experience, I found the food great, and the roast potatoes/triple cooked chips were incredible, as well as the gravy with the pork. I think we would revisit

Price was no concern and expectations were high hence the disappointment with an average, expensive lunch with inadequate service. Food. We were four guests. It was too much trouble for them to prepare 4 cod prestarters as each portion was 3 pieces and thankfully we ordered two portions as they were somewhat minimalist. We asked three times for butter for the bread with the smoked salmon and salt and pepper. The girls had roast pork which was good but 30% pure fat which they found unappetising. My colleague had fish pie which he said was overwhelmingly salmon and I had roast beef which I had been assured would be very rare. I specifically stated that I wished to hear it “moo” as it arrived at the table. Instead I was served two thin slivers of almost medium beef with a bare trace of pink. I had to ask three times for my second glass of red wine (£25 per glass) and would have liked to have been served it before I had finished my beef. We had to ask (twice) for the empty cocktail glasses to be taken away and also for the sparkling water carafe to be refilled. They then started to clear the dishes from the main course whilst one of us was still eating.

The starters, steak and fish pie were amazing. Perfectly cooked and tasted beautiful. Unfortunately, that's where it ended. The triple cooked chips weren't just crisp, they were hard on the outside and the service was shocking! 25 minutes for 1 drink to come to the table. Serving staff not seemingly able to understand the orders being made and coming back 20 minutes later rechecking the order several times because they thought they might have got it wrong. Cutlery for steak given to the wrong people (they only had to remember 1 person not eating steak). 6 people, and 4 starters. One of of which (chicken liver parfait) arrived after everyone else had finished theirs and it wasn't just soft, it was runny! We then waited for far too long for our main courses and again, massive delay getting drinks. And whilst the ribeye steak was nice and cooked perfectly, £25 supplement....really? And a 12.5% service charge automatically added. Sorry, not your finest hour Unfortunately.

Having dined at numerous esteemed establishments, including other Heston restaurants, I expected a superior experience. Previously, this venue delivered a flawless 5-star evening ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, but this time, it was an exercise in mediocrity. The manager’s perfunctory demeanor—superficial 😑 and borderline dismissive—was particularly galling. For someone touting “over 20 years of experience,” their lack of finesse and almost hostile attitude was astounding. Frankly, the junior staff outshone them in professionalism and warmth 🌟, which is both impressive and concerning. The food? A disappointment. The fish and chips—a supposed hallmark dish—were utterly underwhelming 🐟🍟. The curry sauce and mash lacked flavor, the chips were overcooked, and the fish, while acceptable, wasn’t memorable. At this level, and under the Heaston name, “acceptable” should never even be on the table. This was meant to be an anniversary dinner, a special occasion but instead, it felt like a run-of-the-mill meal at a forgettable establishment. Drinks were served incorrectly (eventually corrected, but still), further reinforcing the sense of carelessness. It’s clear this location rides on the coattails of the Heaston brand without delivering anything close to the excellence associated with it. 💡 To higher management: If superficial service and uninspired dishes are what you deem acceptable, this location is destined to tarnish the Heston name. Leadership needs a wake-up call, and quality must improve drastically. Until then, this is not a venue I could recommend to anyone who values their time or money. Heaston has better options elsewhere—this one is style without substance 🚩.

This trip was because I was visiting my sister who lives in Maidehead, so she took me to this one-Michelin-starred restaurant in Bray. Sunday’s set meal is a very authentic British barbecue set meal. I chose beef and my sister chose pork. After all, it is a Michelin-starred restaurant. The selection of ingredients, cooking techniques, and taste are all above a certain level. The service attitude of the reception staff is not flattering in every possible way, but their enthusiasm and professionalism are also impressive. On this windy and rainy cold winter night, being able to enjoy a warm meal with my sister thousands of miles away from home is the most worthwhile memory...

We have never dined in a michelin star place before so I was a bit anxious as our 11 years old daughter has special needs and can sometimes get overwhelmed when out. I was worried incase she upset the other diners. But I needn’t have worried, the staff were amazing with my daughter, they made us feel most comfortable and for that I am truly grateful. Bray is a beautiful area resplendent with a number of wonderful restaurants. Sadly our evening meal in the Hinds head wasn’t reflective of the area or its accolades Service was great, young lady who’s first shift it was, was fantastic, sincere, honest and professional Unfortunately the food was simply way overpriced for what we got, £21 for a prawn cocktail that was just so simple in itself. £65 for the smallest fillet steak I’ve had and over cooked triple cooked chips! No sides, just that. Granted the quality was ok, but no better than I’ve had in many other establishments that charged half as much Seemed like it played on the name and reputation of the owner that it never lived up to

Great staff, the bar snacks were unbelievable. Really lovely team and really nice pub. The puddings of quacker pudding and spiced treacle tart were unbelievable. Great roasties on the roasts and great Yorkshire pudding. I would say the rest of the roast was pretty average, not much meat and veg (veg pictured is for two portions) the gravy was a little watery. The beef gravy had enough flavour to pull it off but the pork didn't quite for my preference. The soup was possibly the best soup I've ever had. Highly recommend. I'm still not sure how to feel about the mince meat meat pie - I think I liked it, but I could eat the devil's on horseback every day. Great beer too! It’s been a long time since we have been here. Food is still incredible, but it’s such a shame that the service just isn’t where a michelin star restaurant should be! Took them 20 minutes (maybe more) & 2 reminders to bring a glass of wine, by the time it arrived it was too late as I had finished my main course. They took off the glass of wine (that I did have) charge on the bill but the service charge wasn’t. The girls were lovely but it just seemed like all the staff were in their teens or early 20’s and for a michelin star restaurant it would be good to always have a more senior experienced manager on staff.

When we asked for the £130 steak to be sent back as it was cold we were left with the sides which went cold before the replacement turned up. The triple cooked roast potates just tasted of fat and were impossible to cut because they were so hard. No fluffly centre. The waitress offered to take something off the bill ( we didn't ask for this) when the bill came not only did it not have anything taken off there was 12% service added on. The wine was just ok. Beautiful old building and parking opposite at the Fat Duck was easy. We ordered a round of drinks at the bar where service was a little indifferent. When we reached our table there was a lot of bustle around us. Our waitress took our order rather quickly. She was friendly. My pea soup started was really good and a nice light texture and balance of flavours. My duck was delicious and came with the smoothest mash I have ever had. Peas also served. My friends’ fish and chips looked good but not exceptional. We had ordered the thrice cooked chips but they failed to arrive. Our waitress realised the error and rectified it as soon as she found but they arrived after we had finished our course. Without us asking she comped the chips which was a nice gesture. The food I thought was reasonable value but the mark up on the wine list was considerable.

We were impressed with the location of the Hind's Head in Bray but not once inside. We were completely disappointed and felt the lack of friendliness let the Hind's Head down. Upon walking through the door the lady standing at the desk scurried off mumbling something as she went. We were then greeted by what I can only assume was a manager who did the formalities of name of reservation but no friendly conversation and this pretty much continued for the rest of the meal. We were shown to our table and left with menus to choose our food. After 15 minutes of waiting time, we headed to the bar to order our drinks. This appeared not to go down well but to be honest waiting 15 minutes for someone to come and take a drinks order is not acceptable. The fixed menu of £55.00 for two courses was the only option, no A La Carte was available. We ordered the Lemon Salad and the Beef Roast. Lemon salad was very well presented and tasted delicious. Beef Roast, came with all the trimmings and was very nice. Although the food was very good and of excellent quality, the service really let it down. At this price range and the service charge of 12.5% we expected a better service than the one we received. We knew when we booked our table we had a two hour window but as we got to 1 hr 40 minutes in, we were asked if we wanted coffee and if we did could they move us to the terrace as our table was needed in the the next 5 minutes. The restaurant had empty tables available, so seemed odd to move on the dining guests. All in all the food is very good quality but the service really does let it down and it is overpriced.

We ate in the restaurant, second time of visiting, my gluten-free diet was very limited to choose on the menu, service wasn’t great maybe because it was mid week but having dined in a French restaurant the night before in poole. in comparison the restaurant has slipped since we visited a year ago, a shame as I will not return based on that experience, the food itself was delicious, just limited menu, not the best table service, I hope the constructive criticism will help you improve

We could only get in on Tuesday which was the bar snacks & a small choice of mains rather than the full menu but I would highly recommend visiting if you are in the area. We had four of the bar snacks & a steak for mains. The scotch egg was a highlight along with the sauce that accompanied the steak but all of the food was delicious. If you choose to visit you won’t be disappointed.

The food was very nice. Mushroom parfait and Devils on horseback were fantastic. In the same time, the cocktails were so poor. Cooling Cucumber with gin and vermouth was like water with acid cucumber, looks like zero alcohol. Then I ordered Negroni. Actually it was really like without gin also. By the taste, and even by the smell.

We were in Bray for a foodie weekend and had dinner at The Hinds Head Saturday evening. The food was delicious. I went for the pea soup followed by the fish pie whilst my partner had the scotch egg and popcorn chicken then fish and chips for main. We were so very satisfied. We are at the fat duck the evening before and although it was amazing, this place really hit the spot. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable on wines etc. we would definitely go back in the future.

Been here several times in the course of 8 years and this time it was simply disappointing. Staff: friendly but we needed to chase them and no proactivity, their training is not even close to what you should offer in a Michelin starred venue. Food okay but does not match expectations or price. Especially: no triple cooked chips (although advertised in the booklet on the table) which was one of the reasons we went and the sweets offered in the desert bag did not match the description in the booklet that came with it. We love Heston’s restaurants and cookbooks but we will definitely not return to his pub we have loved for many years.

Let me start by saying that I have been to The Fat Duck twice (albeit over a long period of time) and I have seen the Hinds Head with it's 1 Michelin Star. I went with my son on Sunday 11th August to Hinds Head with a table booked for 2pm. This was for a Sunday Lunch at £70 per head plus service and excluding drinks Booking online was easy and it felt "special" - can we have a photo to recognise you, why are you coming etc. To be honest I had booked originally the week after providing a photo and a reason for coming, however I managed to get a booking on 11th so cancelled my original booking and quickly "nabbed" the booking I wanted in the first place without putting in a photo and reason. On arrival, they were busy and there was a queue - I see this as a positive, not a negative. When I got to the hostess lecturn at the front, the hostess did not acknowledge me and chatted (about work) behind her. No "I'll just be a moment" or putting me first. This was not a good start. I appreciate conversations need to happen, but at an expensive restaurant where you pay for the food and service this was not acceptable. After chatting, she asked for my name and took a while to find the info. I was directed to the first table in the corner and told I need to "skoot" in to get in properly. No question asking if the table was suitable, I even looked a little unhappy, but this was not acknowledged. My son could see I was irritated and asked if we could move. The lady said I needed to look and make my mind up as they are very busy. I do appreciate this is the case, but it was the way I was dealt with. I feel fussy saying this, but at a restaurant such as Hinds Head this is not how I wanted to be treated. I paid for the Sunday roast and ordered the lamb of which I got 2 small slices, with the usual roast on the side (e.g. yorkshire pudding - tasted hard and bland, potatoes, vegetables) I do not eat a huge amount but easily finished the food, after starter (of Terrine which did not blow me away) The waiting staff were very good, helpful and even moved us upstairs happily when it got very hot downstairs. Overall, honestly I felt for a 1 Michelin starred restaurant/pub and the cost, this was not what patrons expect. I would not recommend this over other lovely pubs as it wasn't "special" in any way.

We were very much looking forward to the experience as it was our Anniversary celebration and had high expectations... we were slightly disappointed. We had to wait quite a long time for the food to arrive. There were long intervals between courses. The starters were quite small. I ordered a salad and was disappointed with the portion size. It tasted good though but could have been more. My lamb was very difficult to cut through. There was a lot of fat. My husband had to assist me in cutting it up. It took so long that it became cold. I did not enjoy it in the end. The meal we had was not worth the price we paid. The waitresses were very pleasant but the waiters appeared as if they did not want to be there. Considering the restaurant's reputation and reviews, we had anticipated a better experience. Apologies for the comments.

Beautiful location with ample parking. You can eat inside and outside. The location is a perfect combination of culinary and pub. The steak was delicious and the thick fries crispier than ever. Service was good, good pairing of the wines. Unfortunately no regular mayonnaise or broccoli stems. Also very noisy fellow guests on the terrace who were shouting on the phone.

The place is old and authentic, everything in tip top shape nonetheless. The service is very friendly knows which wines to recommend. Only thing if you ask for normal mayo(there were chips) or tenderstem broccoli they don't have that here. To summarize very nice experience this star pub

Tried to walk in for an evening dinner, on a Monday at about 8pm. We were ignored by the 3 people behind the bar, another at the desk and another walking around. After a few minutes I disturbed the waiter behind the desk and asked if we could eat outside, he said "no problem you can eat outside and order at the bar" - great, I thought. Then he quickly got our attention and said they can't serve food outside. No attempt to then sit inside, no attempt to book in at a later date, no effort at all. For a first visit to somewhere that's been recommended by many friends who have visited, I left with a feeling of never wanting to return. A shame as I live 10 minutes away and would likely have returned often.

Had wanted to try this pub for some time and this was our first visit. We had booked a table in the restaurant on a Saturday for lunch. Firstly, the service - we were served by 3 or 4 male and female staff and all of them were very attentive and friendly, could not ask for more from the service side of things. The food was as we had hoped for - wonderful. Party members had the scotch egg, the mushroom parfait and the popcorn chicken and all were deemed to be absolutely delicious - my son said the chicken was the best chicken he'd ever had in his life. We then all had the famous haddock and triple cooked chips. Quite possibly the best fish and chips I have ever had - amazing batter and the fish tasted super-fresh. For desserts we tried the Eton mess, the imperfect sweet shop (a mix of hand-made chocolates), lemon tart, and the millionaire shortbread - again, all very, very nice with top notch presentation, ingredients and taste. As a little extra when one of the team asked if our visit was for an occasion and we said yes it was to celebrate two birthdays, they brought us a couple of birthday cards - what a great little touch. Our only regret was that we did not get a chance to properly thank all of the serving staff, but hopefully they will see this review - thank you to the kitchen and serving team, we will be returning !

Thoroughly enjoyed my meal at this quaint little Heston B Inn, neighbour to the acclaimed Fat Duck. It’s a lovely little spot with bags of historic quirk & character. And who knew that Prince Philip held his stag do here in 1947?! The restaurant menu is fairly concise, an offer of poshed-up pub classics such as Cumberland pie & fish & chips as well as a selection of high end steaks. My visit was for lunch where you also have the option of a 3 course menu (including a glass of excellent Prosecco) for £50. Dishes were tasty & unfussed. The well heeled staff provided excellent, attentive service, they were all incredibly well drilled, knowing the menu & its finer components, inside out. A more casual menu is available in the bar.

The starters were tasty but cool and some slightly over cooked. The pea soup was very late arriving and much too salty. The mains were a disappointment- the steaks (£60) were overseasoned with salt and the sauce almost inedible and tasteless due to too much salt. The fish was tasty but the sauces were not - a horrible curry sauce and a bland unidentifiable potato sauce. Some of the chips were over cooked, hard and inedible. On the plus side the, tiny, chicken pies were full of flavour and the sides of beans were tasty. The menu is not a feast of delights and has barely changed (only for the worst) since I was there 5 years ago. The pub is glorious but the food was not - added to which a member of our group was given an out of date drink - bergamot. Over priced and very poor quality.

After some time we went back today for lunch. We decided to come because we watched the Discovery series “Roux Down The River” when Michel Roux (ex 2* Le Gavroche) visited and we thought if he liked the food, why not? We went for the a la carte menu, initially ordering drinks, starters & mains. The starters were nice, but really bizarrely the main courses arrived literally fifteen minutes later as we were still working on the starters. When asked were we ready for the mains, we had to tell the server; err no! Why didn’t they work out the kitchen clearly made a mistake in their timing? To be fair the server then apologised and took them away. After an appropriate intermission, newly cooked mains arrived; they were nice. The service was friendly, if a little eccentric. So when compared to say either the Hand & Flowers or The Coach (both in Marlow) do we anticipate returning anytime soon. Sadly, I don’t think so. In summary versus other Michelin restaurants it’s good, but not a standout.

Nothing we’ve ever experienced before, the foods were amazing and staffs were helpful explaining the dishes too. Started with cured salmon, and mint & pea soup accompanied by coronation chicken sandwich - which was mind blowing. Fish and Chips was superb with curry sauce, minty peas and some mashed/fondue potatoes which I thought was brilliant. Desserts were amazing did not disappoint. Will come back for Scotch Eggs and Beef Wellington!

First, this is a beautiful, historic pub and restaurant. I would kill for this to be my local! Second, staff were all great! Now, the review of the meal. We had the Scotch Egg and Devils on Horseback. Both were solid. The claim to fame for the Scotch Egg is the runny yolk, and it was as advertised. The Devils were essentially rumaki with a date. Good, yes, out of the park? Eh. Next we had the Pea and ham soup. This was also solid, but for some reason served just warm and not hot. And the herb chosen to season was mint, of which I am not a big fan. The ham was excellent and the peas tasted like they had just been hand picked from the garden, so props for that bit of excellence! (And I like some kind of bread with soup, but none was offered.) We also had the Ham Hock terrine. This was also very good, if a bit on the salty side. But it is ham, so how can I quibble. It was delicious. This did come with a bit of toast, also good! My wife had the Duck entree, and it was top notch. Seasoned to perfection, but the star with the veg underneath: peas, again, super fresh, with grilled or sauteed greens, and no mint! So really terrific! I had the famous fish and chips. The fish was as advertised, crispy and tender. But no sauces on offer, and I am a tartar or remoulade fan, so I thought that was a miss. Fish and especially fish sandwiches are a thing in Pittsburgh, so I have high expectations, and this may have been the best prepared fried fish I have had, but the lack of sauce hurt the effort. Finally, the chips. These are famous, and thy=ey were excellent. The best bite was the one with nothing on it. The "sauces" were all big misses. First was the curry sauce. Never understood this and never will, and I make curries at home at least once a week. Second, mushy peas with an overload of mint. Don't understand this choice, either, as there are so many herbs that would complement the chips and fish better. Third, pureed potatoes with salt and vinegar. This was very good, but why you'd want that on a chip is beyond me. Finally they had a spray bottle of onion flavored vinegar. This was pretty good, but lets face it, the Belgians have the correct answer to dipping chips and it is a fresh mayonnaise, preferably with garlic or some other infusion. And, being from the home of H. J. Heinz, plain old ketchup beats everything that was offered. This all, plus a beer came to around 150 quid, so for a Michelin experience, very reasonable! Overall, a good, if not great experience. As a bonus, it was only 25 minutes from the auto rental pickup at Heathrow. So wherever you are headed after arrival, this is a quick and easy detour. And Bray itself was very scenic and worth a stroll.

We’ve just had the worst service at a bar since I can remember. We ordered 3 drinks received no greeting, no eye contact which was a bad start. Then asked if they had a beer garden and received a blunt ‘no’ as an answer. He passed the card machine across not looking or talking - wow this is someone who should not be in food service. Well done to the rest of the team who all smiled, said hi and asked us if we wanted more drinks - a shame he trashed the start of the night. For clarity the poor service came from the tall arrogant bar tender.
