Having discovered last minute that our the pub/hotel we were staying at didn’t serve food on a Monday & the other 2 pubs in the village were also closed, we tried The Old Swan Uppers as next nearest - we were certainly glad we did! The pub was busy as it was quiz night but they fitted us in no problem, the food was delicious, service all night excellent & was reasonably priced. What topped it off though was the quiz - everyone was so friendly & we thoroughly enjoyed it, almost more so than our usual local pub quiz - wish we lived closer but will certainly visit if we return to the area!

Having recently tried many local pubs and restaurants for a late Sunday lunch, I can honestly say TOSU is the very best in the Maidenhead, Cookham, Bourne End area. Fantastic home cooked food, generous tasty portions and a great wine list. Staff are professional and friendly. A bonus for us was no kids ! Just loved it 🙂. Can highly recommend the Scotch Egg Black Pudding starter and the Belly Pork Sunday roast is sublime. Nom, nom ,nom 😋 xx

Had the Liver and Bacon followed by the Fruit Crumble this evening. I can honestly say that it was one of the nicest meals that I have for many years. Well done The Swan Uppers!

Oh my goodness this place was amazing!! A must visit! We went for dinner as we were staying nearby at the CIM Business Centre, and it turned out to be one of the best meals we’ve had in a long, long time. My partner had steak and ale casserole and said it was the best she had ever had! I had the Bombay salmon which was an unusual plate but tasted sooo good. Then we had sticky toffee pudding for dessert and that was honestly the best sticky toffee we’ve both ever had. The quality of the food was SO good and SO tasty. The staff were lovely and looked after us well. Thank you Old Swan for an amazing meal we won’t forget in a long time!

Having had a look around Cookham including the Stanley Spencer Gallery on a very rainy day about two weeks ago my daughter and I were looking for somewhere to go for lunch and came across The Old Swan Uppers. What a stroke of luck. Not too busy on the day that we went but found ourselves seated at a nice table right at the back of the restaurant. We made our selections from the tapas section of the menu and were not disappointed. Warm ciabatta & olives, soup of the day, king prawns, scotch egg, crispy squid and chipolatas; all cooked and served beautifully. Good economical food, nice service and lovely atmosphere. Well deserved five stars.

Nice pub in lovely village location. Worst thing is parking as small car park at rear. If in village for day park on Moor & walk up 400 yards.

Visited the Old Swan with my little hiking group. We had to pre order our food but damn was it worth it! The food was fantastic, so much variety, massive portions and the service was impeccable - we will be back!

Once you’ve waited over an hour for a bit of a roast, the meal is pretty much ruined already. And really, it was not worth waiting for. The beef was 50% fat and I think someone had accidentally tipped a pot of pepper into the veg combo thing that was served. There’s only ten or so tables and every one of them next to us had to ask where their food was. Add to this the table that had their little brat screaming their head off the entire time, and I wish I’d gone elsewhere.

Good pub with friendly staff and a good menu that has about 8 different starters and 8 or so mains. They accommodated our table of 9 with ease, great service for drinks. Plenty of tables The car park was a little busy, but that can only really be a good sign..

Been here a few times to eat. The food has always been really good, home cooked food. The staff are really lovely and all give excellent service. Went here again last October, but quite disappointed. The food was not up to the usual standard and felt rushed. Such a shame, Will think twice about going again now 😕

We ordered Beef and Ale Casserole and Chicken and Ham Hock Pie - both were packed with good quality meats, generous portions and tasted great. Cheese board had three different cheeses on it and next time I will order ahead so it can rest out of the fridge whilst we enjoy our mains. Husband loved his Sticky Toffee & Warming Ginger Pud served with lashings of home made toffee sauce. Kevin, as always, made us feel special and provided impeccable service.

Post Christmas supper and the pub was very busy which made for a great atmosphere. The restaurant around to the side and back has a nice feel about it and also pretty busy. Service was excellent, the calamari was really delicious. Fish and chips were one of the best we’ve had in a restaurant for some time. The Mac n cheese was also very good. The cheeeboard was very generous alongside the excellent crumble. We are definitely going again.

Great evening at the Swan Uppers - booked in advance as it was a Friday night. Group of 6 - we shared lots of small plates rather than any main meals. All delicious - crispy squid was amazing. Service was great, attentive and quick with both food and drinks. The bar was really busy - there was a singer/band - who was excellent - so we finished up in the bar with some more drinks before we left. Would recommend for either a drink or food in their restaurant - lovely place and lovely friendly atmosphere.

A jewel of a country pub just off the river Thames and the centre of Cookham. A classic quintessential British pub with warming fireplace, hospitality and great food.

We popped in for a very late lunch on Saturday, we had 2 beef pies, 1 halloumi burger and 1 gluten free burger. All food was great, atmosphere was friendly and they're dog friendly too. Thank you 😊

Sunday roast is wonderful here with delicious cauliflower cheese. It has a great atmosphere and is always buzzing so definitely best to book a table. The Old Swan Uppers has a great atmosphere, wonderful attentive and happy staff so it’s always a treat when we visit.

If you are looking for Michelin Star food at pub prices look no further! Fabulous lunch yesterday for a party of 11. If I lived locally The Swan Uppers would be my 'go to' place to eat. Top marks to the chef and all other staff.

Really good Sunday roast, staff were very helpful and surroundings were great. Only one criticism, please don’t pile the meat on top of the roast potatoes as it made them soggy. Not sure why you need to do that. Will go back again.

I am lucky to live locally and cannot tell you how fabulous the Sunday roasts are. I live on my own so never cook a roast for myself and this is always a special treat. The beef is always pink which is just how I like it and the vege cooked to perfection with great roasties and a blooming good cauliflower cheese, not just cauliflower with grated cheese on the top. The staff are happy, young, polite and attentive and everything is run like clockwork which is amazing given the fact that every time a table vacates it is immediately filled by new occupants. The atmosphere has a great feel, busy vibrant and relaxing and all in all a wonderful place to spend Sunday lunch. Give it a whirl as you will not be disappointed.

Stunning Sunday lunch! I started with the delicious home made pate and the had the pork belly which was huge and beautifully cooked. Fab service, lovely beer and a nice ambiance. To be fair it’s been consistently good for years, but this is my first review.

We had fantastic tapas at the pub and they were generous portions and fairly priced. There was no background music in the restaurant area which would have been nice. But lovely decor and all round very nice pub.

Sunday roast. Been before, very good. Today! Roast potatoes weren’t! Mentioned it to waitress. Noticed other plates were being returned with white roast potatoes! Yorkshire was soft not crispy… Lasagne was fair Chips were barely warm, NOT crisp! Fried fish was very good!

We booked Sunday lunch for our family as part of our wedding anniversary celebrations. The starters and Sunday lunch were excellent, well done to the chefs . The bar and waiting staff, as always, were very friendly, efficient and attentive.

Back in the mid and late ‘90s, the Stiefel Labs contingent use to frequent the Old Swan Uppers for Friday lunch. Angus d (aka 002.5) recommended the roast lamb shank was particularly good. So, today’s visit was a Stiefel reunion. The young staff were astute and efficient. Since the lamb shank was not on the menu, I tried the homemade pie with a glass of house claret. The pie was definitely not in the sky but rather down to earth tasty. The side vegetables were carefully cooked. The chips, like DCI Henry Crabbe (in ‘Pie in the Sky) says should be tapered at one, and they were. I hope they consider putting the lamb shank back on the menu, so that one can patron the Old Swan Uppers again inorder to try it.

Everything was just Excellent. We have visited this Delightful English Pub for Sunday Lunch before with my family. Each time the Meal ,Charming Staff and Service have been wonderful. So we wanted something special again for Fathers Day, as I also wanted to take my Elderly Parents this time as well as my family. The Old Swan Uppers did not disappoint. Sometimes when there is six people for Sunday Lunch things can be a bit slow and often meals can become cold. Well not here. Food is Hot and Delicious. We even had some very tasty Cheesy Garlic Bread as a starter. We came away quite stuffed but very happy and contented. Thank you and Well done to everybody.

It's a classic style English pub, to be fair my expectations weren't good, I opted for a steak ciabatta, i have to say this is the best ciabatta I ever had in a pub so far. You're not asked how would you prefer your steak, which comes well done, clever, so the bread don't get soggy, the meat was tender, and I loved every bite of it. The side salad was brilliant, a tiny portion but rich of ingredients, even the lady who served me was really nice. 11 out of 10

Great food awaits the casual diner at this old classic pub. Along with friendly staff and home cooked steak and ale pie (amazing!) the honeycomb cheesecake was the best ever! Highly recommended for ambience, fabulous food and a friendly welcome.

Prompt attention and showed straight to our table. Orders taken in good time and food and drinks came soon. Well cooked food and well presented - all in our party were very satisfied with the quality of food and service.

Our second visit as a group of four last Sunday. Two roasts, a lasagne and a curry. Chicken satay starter was excellent. All four main dishes were thoroughly enjoyed. Staff were friendly, efficient and professional. Excellent value. We’ll be back June sometime.

Always great food and lovely atmosphere and setting. I would recommend booking a table as can get very busy. Service is excellent and friendly. My only issue would be parking can be challenging as in most places it’s a bit hit and miss if you get a space. But apart from that I would highly recommend and attend often.

Visited last Sunday and both had the trio of roasts. Perfectly cooked and came with all the trimmings. Friendly service, good selection of ales and even met the chef after we ate. Certainly worth going out of your way for - will be back!

Amazing food, huge portions and a personable chef who clearly loves his job and takes the time to speak to customers! The staff were lovely and attentive. Only downside is that we did not have room for dessert! We will definitely return as this is in no doubt the best food that we had whilst staying in Cookham.
