I'm reviewing on behalf of my Mother and Father in law who aren't online, and who asked that I leave a glowing review for them. They are frequent visitors to Uncle Tom's, and always recieve wonderful service, particularly this past weekend where they thoroughly enjoyed the delicious Sunday roast. The menu is varied and always tasty and the staff are always smiling and more than accommodating. After hearing my in laws views, I'm really looking forward to visiting with them in the future!

We went to Uncle Tom's Cabin to try their Sunday Roast and I have to say, it's one of the best I've ever had. The new chef had prepared some amazing starters, the kids loved their dishes, it's rare for mine to finish their plates but they were completely clean at the end! The roast meats were beautifully and evenly cooked, roast potatoes crispy and a mix of traditional veg and a puree was really nice. To top it off the puddings were satisfying. We will be returning to try the regular menu soon too!

lovely little pub, very cosy and a great atmosphere. The menu however was very limited with only 4 starters on the menu, 1 of which was 'off' the menu and 4 mains. Not being a Burger person or really knowing what celeriac fondants were I opted for the fish and chips. The fish was really beautifully cooked but the pea puree was luke warm and the chips were thin (McDonalds style) and not chunky as you would expect. A choice of only 3 desserts, 1 of which was Baron Bigod and had the description of Pear/Hazelnut/Crisp bread....who knows what that one was?? I skipped dessert... I think better descriptions against each item would be good plus maybe some allergy or dietary information on the menu would also be beneficial. The meal overall was okay but with such a limited menu I cant see that there would enough choice to temp me to return

Good food and a nice outside seating. The food was really tasty. We all had had a Sunday lunch and each of us had something different: Beef, Pork, Chicken and Vegetarian. All in all, the food was really good. Came out in OK time and most of the staff were quite pleasant. We were sat outside and it was nice to see the chefs having a good time on a hot Sunday afternoon. The three starts is due to some of the other staff. There were a couple of younger members who seems pretty disinterested in what they were doing, and what really disappointed us was that we saw her (blond hair, shorts) openly smoking/ vaping, and actually arguing with (who appeared to be) The Manager about where to smoke. Whether the patrons are smokers or not, I don't think anyone wants to see a member of staff openly smoking - Not even hiding around a corner.. As a non smoker, I may be wrong...?

Our friends used to live locally and always used to come here and so we walked here for a lunchtime meal on a chilly day. We soonwarmed up with some warm hospitality and first class food. Yes, it’s also Maidenhead prices at £4.50 for a bottle of sparkling water, it’s only 20p less then a pint of beer hey, that probably makes the beer good value!

Brought some visiting family to UTC for Sunday lunch today and were not disappointed. Considering it was a ridiculously hot day, the service was friendly and relaxed, and we were pleased with the wine and menu choices. The portion of chicken Kiev was large but not dry, and the veloute sauce enhanced the meal. My husband declared the pork belly the best roast meal he’s had in a long time. For afters cheese and biscuits were plentiful, and cheesecake was rich and delicious as well. We all came away satisfied and realised we should dine at Uncle Tom’s Cabin more often.

Uncle Toms Cabin is an old English pub in the beautiful village of Cookham Dean. They have great food here, it gets very busy especially at the weekends so be sure to book if you plan on eating. There is also a very nice garden where you can sit and have your lunch while enjoying the sunshine. My only criticism would be that the beer selection is not very good and could do with having at least one craft beer added to the lineup.

Slightly quirky underground restaurant and bar. Food was good and young team were enthusiastic. Minor grumble in that menu descriptions need to be more accurate - for example cauliflower was served with cheese sauce which wasn't on the menu (it said served with seasonal vegetables) - a member of our party does not eat cheese (equally could have been dairy intolerant) so couldn't eat it.

Really disappointing. After reading the positive reviews, my girlfriend and I visited here on - Saturday 26 February - while staying locally. At 8pm, the restaurant was nearly empty and so lacked atmosphere. Not the establishment’s fault…. Our shared squid starter was lovely I ordered the (expensive at £24) rump steak to be cooked medium-rare. It arrived medium-well done. My girlfriend had linguine - which she enjoyed - but it went cold quickly. During the entire time we were eating, no member of staff asked if we were enjoying our food. I’d have raised these issues if so. We only the food because we were hungry. We declined dessert but my girlfriend requested a Tia Maria coffee…. Who knew this would be such a challenging request?! Firstly, she was brought a cold shot of coffee liqueur. Then a luke-warm coffee mixed with liqueur served in a wine glass! Even when paying the bill, the (I assume) manager didn’t even ask if we enjoyed our food. Obviously, no tip left. Overall: lovely place, average food, very poor service

Nothing out of the ordinary. Welcoming friendly front of house/bar staff. Squid starter was apparently lovely, my ratatouille and goats cheese tart had lovely crisp pastry and the smoked salmon portion was generous . Cod in batter became hake in batter, which was not a problem and the batter was lovely and crisp. Apparently the risotto under the pan fried hake had an overwhelming taste of onion, so perhaps not softened sufficiently or there was too much, but certainly not cooked out enough .

It's been a good few days in the pubs around our local Maidenhead and this was no exception. Finally a pub with more than one ale (Timothy Taylor guests) and the food was not only good but excellent value. Chicken and ham hock terrine was one of the tastiest I've had anywhere, in season pheasant and partridge with a creamy butterbean casserole was tender and tasty (the Sunday roast beef was also one of the best around and much cheaper than most), and the sticky toffee pudding was the best I've had in 6 years. Well, duck salad lacked any depth of flavour and was slated by 3 members of the party and the fish pie, though a good size and piping hot, lacked any fish or other flavour. Lovely dog friendly old pub, attractive garden, friendly staff, excellent beer and a well balanced wine list. What more can a country pub offer? Well, Uncle Tom's also has excellent, no nonsense, well cooked food. Dogs not allowed in the main restaurant, but who cares, there are tables which can be reserved in the bar, or weather permitting, tables in the garden.

This is a fabulous, cosy, rural English pub nestled between the rolling green hills and a great selection of tap beers (and a full harvest moon). My beloved and I bought my our mothers here for dinner and it was a wonderful evening. The environment was intimate and the staff were friendly and attentive. We all had different delicious dishes which were well received, but the Duck leg was absolutely brilliant. Enjoy.

I came with a friend and the dogs... the garden is lovely, the food was delicious.. but I can't get over the inappropriate naming of the pub... Maybe reading thebook would help the owner understand the offence the name can cause..

La Croisette situated within Daniel's department store. Family run restaurant serving great food all day, whether it's a fulfilling breakfast, scrummy lunch or just a coffee or tea break, call in & have a relaxing meal in a lovely store, you won't be disappointed!

Great stop for lunch after a walk around the local area. We just had the open sandwiches which were delicious especially accompanied with some mayo and truffle fries. Hope to come back soon. Thanks for being so welcoming.
